@youreviltwin said it so well! He even tries to subtly argue. Like... don't you think it's kinda cool that it was a flawless plan... no victims, no one getting hurt, no risk... everyone happy?

Someone literally just confronted him, figured out his perfect little scheme, placing him in danger of being caught for the first time ever. Is he scared? angry? Hurrying to resolve the situation?

No.

He's trying to convince Shawn that his plan wasn't "lame".

Then, getting taken away, he doesn't look too angry. He's going to prison for the first time ever, his perfect life was ruined by one man. A man he let off the hook before. This could have all been prevented by hurting Shawn, as other men would have done. So does he regret his leniency? Does he swear revenge?

No.

He's impressed. Reasonably delighted, despite the amount of personal trouble this brought him.

He looks at Shawn, eyes so very warm with what looks like amusement, pride - and says "You know, i've always fantasized about escaping from prison."

Normally, when the criminal you just caught says this, you panic. It means revenge, it means better sleep with an eye open, because i'm coming for you. Does Shawn panic? Does Gus? Does anyone?

No. Because the way Despereaux has said it, with the way he has acted this entire time, it can only mean one thing.

I see what I considered the perfect crime wasn't "cool" enough for you. Well, I will proof to you that I am capable of all that you thought I was, that your admiration wasn't/isn't misplaced.

THAT'S what he's thinking about at the moment of his arrest, that's the central goal of his schemes. Restroring the way Shawn feels about him.

And then he proceeds to actually do it, no other conceivable motive for his jail break in sight, making very sure Shawn is there to see, and be adequately bedazzled. He dials his "smooth criminal" charm up to 1000, plays into all the tropes and cliches he knows Shawn loves, the times their paths cross afterwards.

Also, Shawn isn't any better. His James Bondesque man crush turned out to mainly commit insurance fraud, threatened to hurt him with a gun, and then announced his plans to prove himself to him. And what does Shawn Spencer do?

He follows the man on twitter.

Okay, there’s quite a few posts about Shawn’s super obvious crush on Pierre Despereaux.

Which is awesome. But how come I never see posts about how much Pierre clearly loves the way Shawn feels about him?

He may not say anything, but his expression says it all. His self satisfied smirk whenever Shawn compliments him, calls him the coolest man alive or whatever other things his infatuated mind can come up with. The way he melts at the way Shawn looks at him, amused and flattered and so so appreciative.

And it’s clearly important to him too, not just a nice bonus. He wants, needs Shawn to adore him, to a point where he risks a lot to escape from prison for one more job. He doesn’t need the money, he’s filthy rich. It really is just to impress Shawn, to prove he really is all Shawn thought him to be. A goal he openly admits to Shawn, to his face. After having spent a lot of. money to have him come to visit him.

Now, yeah, he uses Shawn to escape from prison - but impressing Shawn is also the only reason he does that in the first place.

So - he might like to act detached, but Pierre is absolutely not normal about Shawn either. He is allowing and enabling Shawn’s teenage girl crush completely.
