i just finished my cousin rachel i luuuuuuuurve daphne du maurier <3 i think the next one i will read is scapegoat mostly bc the only other du maurier i know the plot of is jamaica inn and it does not so much appeal to me

#ngl it doesnt appeal to me also bc its called that and she wrote it in the 40s (i think?) so its more a question of like #well. is this the woman i want to be writing about jamaica. like i do actually think its also set in cornwall so like #it is not impossible it will have Nawt to do with anything but like i shrimply am not sure #and scapegoat is about meeting ur doppelganger and stealing their gig which seems fun #recently read #i will say i do regret reading rebecca and then my cousin rachel with only a few weeks in btwn #bc theyre both good books and its not like i think rebecca is better (i prefer it a Little but not by much)#but bc i read rebecca so recently i kinda had a lot of prejudices about the plot of my cousin #which i know youre supposed to have anyway like to an extent that Is the point #but i wish i'd left it a little longer maybe...... i think i will leave it a little longer for scapegoat but thats also bc the only other #ones my bookstore carries are rebecca (which i own) jamaica inn and her short stories (not a short story person me)#so its also due to circumstance i guess!
