vee helped me realize chiyo does stuff quite often for the sake of other people's happiness and i :' )) am a mess :' )) she doesn't want to join the newspaper club after her supernatural club disbands, but she joins bc her parents want her to. she initially chooses to be a teacher bc it's the safer option, but also bc it'll make her mom happy since she's a teacher. she joins some clubs in college bc it'll make her parents worry less if she's getting out of her dorm; she tries to reach out to her classmates bc if she does, her parents won't worry so much if she's got friends.

now, some of these things are good for her, but her motivation is still the same: her parents' peace of mind.

even in daily life, chiyo will often go with the flow of her friends' choices. they wanna go drinking even though it's 10 o'clock and she wants to go home and watch a movie till she passes out? she'll still join them, even if it's for a little while, even if she puts up a fuss at first. the truth of the matter is that chiyo prioritizes the happiness and comfort of those around her.

i mean!! even her own personality changes depending on the person she's talking to!! bc if you're shy, she wants you to feel comfortable. if you're loud and outgoing, she doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable that she's quiet. it's fine if she's uncomfortable and overthinking her actions so long as others feel fine.

why does she do this?? bc for so long, she caused her parents trouble. she caused her classmates trouble. her parents' love is unconditional, but it's undeniable the effect that being bullied and requiring so much?? extra care took upon her self worth. in her mind, she wasn't worth the trouble to her classmates if it meant being bullied by association. now she's worried she'll cause trouble again, and she won't be worth it. she'll simultaneously be too much and too little and lose the people she cares about. and i'm absolutely sobbing HELP

i made the mistake of looking at pinterest and now i’m just :’ )) thinking about chiyo and how yeah!! she would buy flowers for someone and tuck the prettiest one in their hair. she’d make their favorite food after a hard day and run her fingers through their hair until they fall asleep. she’d be late to a meeting if they needed her to be — even over something silly like staying in bed an extra few minutes — and she’d leave early just to join them for dinner. i dunno if this all really counts as doting? but i think chiyo does really love to dote on others. she loves getting to make them smile and she isn’t so much a pushover for her loved ones as she is just happily smitten :’ ) when she cares, she cares deeply and shows it very obviously through touch and action most often. and it’s very cute to me :’ ))))

No, Chiyoe is not allergic to anything but sometimes pretends she’s allergic to foods she dislikes.

Wells:

Wells is allergic to rabbits.  Which is unfortunate considering how much he adores them.

Kylan:

Kylan is allergic to weeds, but he loves the outdoors.

Carlos:

Carlos is allergic to highly scented perfumes.

Tyler:

Tyler is extremely allergic to bees.  They terrify him, he turns and runs when he spots them.

Shantel:

Shantel is not allergic to anything.

Forrest:

Forrest is constantly teasing his older brother Su-Bin, so pretends he is highly allergic to him.

Aurelius:

Aurelius is allergic to dogs, which is fine with him as he prefers cats.

Dorothy:

She’s self-claimed that she is allergic to jerks (cough cough FORREST cough).  Otherwise, she is allergic to some food dyes and colorings.

Jaedyn:

She’s not allergic to all lotion products, but some make her break out in rashes.  Jaedyn has to be careful what products she puts on her skin.

Chiyoe is very well built, and admires her body’s strength.

He likes his feet, for no particular reason.  I guess he just appreciates how they get him everywhere. (lol idk)

Kylan:

Kylan’s freckles are his friends.  He loves freckles.

Carlos:

Carlos doesn’t really have a favorite part of his body.  He is very modest.

Tyler likes his broad shoulders. 

Shantel:

Shantel loves her hair.  She’s thicker than most girls and admires that about herself as well.

Forrest:

Forrest likes his complexion and tattoo (which is on his neck).

Aurelius doesn’t really admire his body.

Dorothy is fairly confident of her smile! :)

Jaedyn likes her legs.

I have a lot of freckles. I also like the small bump on my nose bridge, and my lips as well.

Chiyoe:

She likes her confidence in herself to be independent and self-sufficient.  It took a while to build up her ability to believe in herself, so it is something she does not take for granted.

Wells:

Wells loves being kind to others, he loves his compassion for the people around him.

Kylan:

Kylan likes his protective side, to care for those he loves.

Carlos:

Carlos enjoy taking care of others, as he has been helping raise his younger siblings.  He loves to dote on children.

Tyler:

Tyler likes being silly, and enjoys making others laugh.

Shantel:

Shantel is still learning to love herself for who she is, so she does not like much about her personality at the moment.

Forrest loves being playful and teasing others.  Being mischievous is one of his favorite past times.

Yes. Very.

Kylan has a very long endurance, but does not like to run fast.  He prefers jogging.

No, he doesn’t like to run.

Tyler:

He can only run fast when he sees a bee, or is being chased by the principal.

Definitely not.

Forrest:

He can run pretty fast but not for long.

Aurelius:

Like Kylan, he has a great endurance.  However, he can run fast for long distances rather than just jogging.

Dorothy:

No, she can’t run fast.

Jaedyn likes to run.

I can run pretty fast, but not for long distances.  I get tired very quickly.

Yes, she is buff.

Not really, but he will exercise with Chiyoe sometimes.  He refuses to exercise alone.

Chiyoe doesn’t really watch anime often but loves Studio Ghibli deeply.  Chiyoe really appreciates the hard work that goes into creating anime.  Rather, she spends more time reading manga.

Wells:

Wells does not watch anime, but would if someone suggested it to him.  He is curious.

Kylan:

Kylan does not know what anime is, but if someone told him to watch anime with him he’d probably get hooked (especially to romance animes lol).

Carlos:

He loves shounen.  Carlos is really into stuff like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Gin Tama, Bleach, etc.

Tyler:

Yes, he likes anime.

Shantel:

Shantel often sobs over sad animes.

Forrest:

Forrest low-key watches anime and reads manga.  He’s literally seen hundreds of anime shows.

Aurelius:

Aurelius is forced to watch anime with Forrest, so while he pretends to dislike it, he enjoys shows like Fairy Tail.

Dorothy:

Dorothy likes soft animes.

Jaedyn:

Jaedyn loves action/fantasy animes.  She watches romance in secret, and gets really embarrassed when others catch her doing so.

Toad:

I used to watch anime quite a bit, but I don’t anymore due to school being so hectic.  My favorite anime/manga was Magi, and my first anime/manga was Fruit’s Basket.

Chiyoe:

She loves k-pop, and really admires how hardworking the idols are.  Since Chiyoe dances a lot, she often does covers of their choreography. 

Wells:

Wells admires all music.  He feels he can learn from them.

Kylan:

Kylan doesn’t really listen to k-pop often, but enjoys the songs Chiyoe shows him.

Carlos:

Carlos likes k-pop, and stans a lot of groups.

Tyler:

Tyler likes Orange Caramel.

Shantel:

Shantel loves k-pop, especially girl-groups.

Forrest:

Forrest is k-pop trash, but pretends he isn’t (he’s extremely low-key with all his hobbies and likes).  His older brother is a k-pop star, so he really admires the artists in the genre.

Jaedyn lives for Korean rap (min yoongi)

98. Is there anything that inspires your scholar?

Chiyoe:

Chiyoe aspires to be a powerful wizard, so her magic professors inspire her greatly.  There are ten professors, but her favorites are named Ohanzee and Proteus.

Wells:

Wells admires so many artists like Woodkid and Ben Howard.  Chiyoe and her cousin Chromium also inspire him.

Kylan:

The two most inspiring things to him are nature and his mother.  He wishes to be a doctor, just like her.

Carlos:

He is extremely inspired by Victoria and how hard she works despite bing blind and cultures.  Carlos embraces his Mexican culture and enjoys learning about others.

Tyler:

His main inspiration is super hero action comics.  That’s it.

Shantel:

Shantel is really inspired by her uncle and her cousins.  She doesn’t live with her parents, since both are irresponsible.  Her uncle and his kids took her in when she was at her lowest, despite the fact that they themselves were having a very tough time.

Forrest:

Forrest is inspired by his both siblings, Su-Bin and Ji-Hyun.  Despite the fact that he’d never admit it to him, Forrest is inspired greatly by his brother’s work.  His sister owns a dance studio, which is why he gets a lot of inspiration from her work as well.

Aurelius:

Aurelius gets his inspiration from mythology.  He loves to learn the old tales and study different religions.

Dorothy:

Dorothy is inspired by Jaedyn, who was her main reason for picking up several hobbies and even her main sport, surfing.

Jaedyn:

Jaedyn looks up to and greatly admires her older brother, Dakota.  She thinks that he is a lot better than her and thinks that he is perfect.  He is strong, loyal, kind, naturally good at a lot of activities, and hard working.  Dakota is what Jaedyn aspires to be.

Toad:

I am especially inspired by art and movies like Wonder Woman and Spiderman: Homecoming.  I also draw inspiration from music like Woodkid, Ben Howard, and Ludovico Einaudi, video games like the Legend of Zelda, and books such as Six of Crows.

Chiyoe:

Yes, she can pretzel herself.

Wells:

Not really, he’s that one kid that attempts to do a full splits and accidentally demolish his pants.  Even Nobu couldn’t fix them, and he designs clothes as a living.

Kylan:

Yes, but not as much as Chiyoe.

Carlos:

No, definitely not.  He would die.

Tyler:

No, but he tries.

Shantel:

Not at all.  She’s really stiff.

Forrest:

Kind of.  He enjoys dancing, so he has some flexibility.

Aurelius:

Yes, surprisingly.

Also kind of.  She too, like Forrest, has some flexibility.

100. If there was something they could change, what would it be?

Chiyoe:

She wishes that she could have prevented her mother’s death, thus keeping her family together, but her true regret would be leaving her best friend behind when he needed her most.  Chiyoe still doesn’t understand why Kylan forgave her when the two met again years later after being separated for a long time.

Wells:

Wells has had a relatively happy life, so he doesn’t wish to change anything, not even the fact that he was abandoned by his real family as a baby.  He loves his adoptive family a lot.

Kylan:

Kylan actually wishes that he could have been there for Chiyoe more when her mother passed.  Another part of him wishes that he could have kept his parents together, but he’s glad that his mother has found a new and better lover.

Carlos:

Carlos doesn’t wish to change anything.

Tyler:

Tyler wishes that he was raised by someone more loving like his uncle, not his mom.

Shantel:

Shantel wishes that she had a better childhood.

Forrest:

Forrest was worked hard his entire life, so he would have liked to have a bit of free time to be himself, not who his parents wanted him to be.

Aurelius:

He wants to get rid of the fact that he has the Midas touch.  He takes pills everyday to get rid of it temporarily, but the gold has to go somewhere so it usually turns his hair golden, his eyes golden, or sometimes it even makes his skin golden.

Dorothy:

Dorothy is deathly afraid of heights and wishes she wasn’t.

Jaedyn:

Jaedyn wants to change the fact that Dakota, her brother, is dead.
