My thoughts on Descendants: The Rise of Red
The Queen of Heart shouldn't have been the ruler of *all* of Wonderland
King of Heart (the Queen's brother) would possibly be an interesting character.
Red should've used her glitter bomb powers throughout the whole movie and her lightning powers since she clearly has some
Idk if Maddox is Red's age but they should be. Also they should've been just a little more deranged. (Non-binary Maddox anyone?)
I hate Prince Charming's blue streak in his hair so much😭 (He should've been blond because of Chad's hair colour) also I think his outfit should've been more white and blue. That way Chloe could've had all three as her colour pallet. Also Red having Red & Black is such a nice contrast to that.
RITA ATE
I like the headcanon that Red's real name is Quinn and they just call her Red. It would be cool if her mother calls her Quinn and Red keeps asking her to call her Red but she doesn't until the end of the movie.
Chloe's outfit doesn't show off her shoes enough
Love ain't it's slow soft start low-key sucks, also there should've been a chorus closer to the start, probably instead of the "Could it really be her" part cuz it's so dumb. These extras💀😭
Queen of Heart's outfit changing is so weird (ate tho)
RITA ATE
Is it just me or did Chloe's hair change?
Chloe so obviously checking Red out💀
Fairy Godmother shouldn't have been Ella's age, she literally her godmother like-
AND HER RUN😭
"Think what you want to boo" 💀💀
-> Think what you want to, Blue (Chloe nickname)
Chloe's hair changed again
Why is young Brigette American?
"cALl uS JAlLadEN"
Who tf is Uliana? WHO THE FUCK IS MORGANA? SERPENTINE? You could've just used more villains like Maleficent💀 Like why wasn't Evil Queen there? Her and Maleficent were canonically friends when they were younger
The VKs actors really ate, I wish the movie could've reflected their awesomeness better
Also this background music is low-key fire
The flamingo scene? That was so embarking like- Maleficent would NEVER hang with those dorks
CHLOE'S HAIR AGAIN
I love Ella, she's so well written
This crew is getting on my nerves, they're just way too random. I love Morgi but who is he? Also he's basically just Gil. This crew is just Uma's crew and it's so unoriginal. Like if you're gonna be unoriginal why not use the OG VK's parents? That would've been so much better
Chloe and her goddamn hair
'fight of our lives' playing in the background of the GlassHeart moment
Brigette dancing to nothing💀 You could've just given her a radio 💀 AND HER WIG
I'm so sick of Chloe's FUCKING WIG CHANGES
'Get your hands dirty' is actually such a good song
'It was time to lose the glass shoes' LESBIANS
Stealing shoes? Ew.
Red is deffs in love with Chloe
The only reason I can think for Maleficent and Hades to be there but no other major villains is that them being in permanent detention means Mal is never gonna be born
Imagine Bridgette playing 'hearts' while doing the shuffle of love
The Chloe & Cinderella reunion is a bit off
RITA👏 ATE👏
Overall really fun and enjoyable movie

I finished it (Watching at work means I pause a lot let me live) and I have thoughts. Which I'll hide for spoiler reasons. In short: The movie was fine- it didn't disappoint me as badly as I feared. Deeper thoughts below the cut
So it's been 100 years since I read the book. I do not remember every detail. I do know this movie cut out SO much and I understand why it did. I'm grown, I know it's unrealistic to expect a 2 hour movie to hold as much content as a 400 page book.
That said, I- felt like it low key cut out a big chunk of the heart of the book.
So one of my favorite scenes in the book is the new years scene when Get Low comes on and everyone jumps out to dance. I miss the friendship and I miss seeing Alex and Henry connect with people who aren't Henry and Alex.
Nora and Percy were props. They had no purpose. I do not know why Princess Bea knew who tf Nora was, or why she declared them buddies for the wedding in the opening scene. I don't know who tf Percy is. I don't know at the end of the day why I should care about them at all beyond- Percy was there to pull Nora away from Alex and the party so it was just Henry and Alex. Which could have been done by anyone. Nora literally vanished halfway through the movie and no one missed her.
Shout out to the movie for inventing an LGBTQIA+ man of color to be the bitchy ex turned villain of the movie though.
All that said. I liked the story that they did put on screen. I do think the lead actors pulled off the chemistry. I did care a lot about Alex and Henry. I also was invested in Uma Thurman winning re-election.
The hot scenes were hot, the closet scene (the one at the hospital) was awkward because there was plenty of room in there for them both? But they acted like it wasn't?
The scene where Zahra shows up and ends up finding out about the relationship was probably my favorite thing I've ever seen ever.
I didn't hate it. I might watch it again someday. It's also not my favorite thing in the world
I'm waching Red White and Royal Blue
It's... certainly a movie.
#cece watches things#this also got me thinking about the 2022 cinderella movie#or was it 2021#idk the one with Prince Henry in it#which I haven't seen because self care#but I did watch a fuckton of youtube reviews about

Shuffle Playlist - Rewrite - Part of Your World - Harry Hook x Reader - part 6 - Makeovers and little sisters
guess who wrote this part last night and forgot about it the entire day~ me
your outfit:
=
Mal stepped over a pile of green sludge as she carefully dodged a passing isle resident, they turned to snarl at her but gasped as she turned back and bared her teeth, forcing her bit of magic left in her to let her eyes glow.
The resident bolted off, not wanting to stay around the daughter of Maleficent any longer. Mal sighed, shaking her head slightly to rid of the small headache that had suddenly appeared.
“note to self, glowy eyes hurt here” she muttered to herself, she had forgotten that pushing that bit of magic up into her head had caused her headaches on the isle.
She stopped in front of Curl up and Dye, brow-raising at the sign on the door.
‘closed until midnight’
She huffed, glancing behind her to see if anyone was watching before pushing open the door and stepping inside. Immediately the low sound of music bombarded her senses, the smell of chemicals swirling around her, and the vision of paint splatters all over the walls and floors making Mal laugh.
Dizzy had been busy while she had been gone. She drew back the plastic curtains used to keep cold in those big ass refrigerators at grocery stores and peered into the hair salon, smiling as she watched dizzy spin around with her broom and dance while she swept up hair from the night before.
Mal got a good look at Dizzy’s attire as she moved about the room, dark forest green overall shorts splattered with dye and paint with multicolored pins decorating the torso, faint purple ripped leggings, a dull faded pink t-shirt underneath, bright yellowish gold-painted gloves with metalwork bits and bobs glued on, dark green sneakers with painted gold fabric laces, her family crest ring on her left pointer finger, and her usual glasses and headphones on her head. Mal smiled again, remembering Evie always trying to encourage Dizzy to create her own style than to always wear that sickly green and yellowish colored dresses her mother always made her wear.
It had looked like she had followed Evie's word. Dizzy did one last spin, her eyes going wide as she finally spotted Mal. “MAL!” she squealed, making the older teen wince a bit from the high pitch. Dizzy ripped off her headphones from her ears and tossed them around her neck, giving a wide grin at the blonde-haired Mal. “is Evie back too?!
Mal gave the young teen a shrug and shook her head “no, just me” she hummed, suppressing the smile she wanted to give to dizzy as the girl's shoulders dropped in disappointment. She took another look around the salon, letting one of her old smirks grow on her face “you’ve really gone all out here….looks good” Dizzy’s downturned eyes turned to a bright grin as she looked around at her work.
“forgot you guys don’t open till midnight….think you can break a few rules?” Dizzy pursed her lips and set the broom on an empty chair, walking over to Mal and grabbing onto her long-curled hair.
“the blonde with purple tips?” Dizzy sighed, giving Mal a bored look “completely washes out your face and I can't even tell your skin and hair apart” Mal let out a little snort and shook her head. Dizzy grabbed her arm and lead her to one of the empty salon chairs and spun her around. “how far can I go?” she hummed, leaning on her palm and smirking down at Mal.
Mal shrugged “honestly, do whatever, just make it….me” she hummed, smiling as Dizzy squealed in excitement and walked over to her huge bottles of chemicals and picked up the dark bubbling purple one. She spun around, grinning as Mal gave her a slightly nervous look.
“let's do this” Dizzy giggled, skipping over to Mal and setting the dye onto the table next to the chair and grinning down at her. Mal pressed her lips together tightly as she looked up at the scheming young teen.
“don’t burn me” she muttered, closing her eyes and slumping in the chair, preparing to let Dizzy do whatever she wanted.
“I won't ~”

You grunted as you struggled to put on the black ripped up skinny jeans you had bought two months ago, while they fit perfectly it was always a hassle to get them past your hips.
“come on you stupid- AH!” you tumbled over and hit the carpet with a loud thump, leaving you on the floor groaning in pain.
You shook your head and pulled at the hem of your jeans, laughing in victory as they finally slid over your hips and were buttoned over your stomach.
You stood from the floor and grabbed your black combat boots, quickly shoving them on and tying them. You paused, looking down and cursing, the entire time you had somehow forgotten your shirt.
You zipped up the boots and rushed over to your dresser, pausing as you saw one of Harry's rare-non ripped tank top hoodies sitting folded in your dresser. You snorted as a dumb thought came to mind, but decided to go through with it.
“time to cosplay Harry” you laughed to yourself, sliding on the large tank top and flipping the hood down. You grabbed your skull belt and slid it into the pants loops and buckled it. You stopped for a moment, looking at yourself in the standing mirror sitting next to your dresser, and crossed your arms. “It's missing something” you hummed, tilting your head.
It hit you a moment later and you grabbed your copy of Harry and Gil's dorm room key and bolted across the hallway, unlocking their door and running over to Harry's closet, grabbing one of his old black and red leather isle jackets. You smiled at the spray panted Hook symbol on the back and slid the slightly heavy jacket on, it somehow fit you perfectly, but you guessed it was because it was one of his jackets from when he was younger, and more around your size.
You grabbed one of his sets of leather gloves and slid them on, taking it upon yourself to also raid his ring stash. You smirked at the tentacle ring, and slid it onto your pinkie, it was probably your favorite one besides his ruby ring with the black band.
You looked into Harry's mirror and smirked, now you were ready. Your shoulders dropped as something silver and metal caught your eye in the mirror, you spun around, gasping as you saw Harrys hook sitting on his bed, next to his sword. “that idiot” you groaned, smacking your forehead with your palm and walking over to his bed and grabbing the precious hook and his sword. You slid the hook through your belt loop and looked around for his sword's sheath.
You found it resting against his dresser, you grabbed it and slid the sword into it, before taking off your jacket and slipping the sheath around your shoulders and letting it rest on your hip. You slid the jacket back on and bolted out of his dorm, running to Evie and Mals where the blue-haired teen was making Bens isle gear.
“Guess what the fucking idiot left!” you yelled, taking the hook from your belt and waving it in the hair. Gil and Jay face palmed as they locked their eyes onto the weapon.
Evie took one look and groaned, holding her face in her hands and shaking her head “and from the looks of it he left his sword too” she sighed, pointing at the cutlass that rested on your hip.
“fucking yep!” you yelled, waving your hands in the air and beginning to pace the room “so now he has no fucking weapons with him and I have no fucking clue what's going to happen to him! What happens if someone finds him and he can’t-“
“(y/n)!” Gil yelled, stopping you in your tracks by stepping in front of you and grabbing your shoulders “Harry knows how to take care of himself, he'll be just fine, he also knows how to stay out of trouble…he never does it but he knows how.” He patted your arm and released you, turning to Evie as she asked him to grab some extra gold fabric.
You let out a raspberry and flopped on Mal's bed, staring up at the ceiling as anxiety started to burrow into your mind. You did your best to ignore it since Harry was very much capable of taking care of himself.
He would be just fine.
Just fine.

Dizzy swung the chair back around, facing the once again purple-haired Mal towards the shattered mirrors. Mal stood, leaning down to look into one of the cracked shards and squinted at herself.
Her once mid-back length blonde purple-tipped hair had been dyed a lighter-toned purple than her natural color, now just at her collar bones in a blunt cut with her bangs in a side part and the right-side cascading down her face and brushing against her lashes.
ref:
She looked like her but….there was something missing. She took a deep breath and hardened her features, her eyes sharpening and her jaw locking into a grimace “there I am” she hummed, standing up tall and spinning around to look at Dizzy, who grinned and threw her arms open in celebration.
“Voila!”
“Voila” Mal hummed in a dry tone, pulling out a stash of cash she had taken before she left Auradon and handed a $50 to Dizzy, who stared wide-eyed at Mal. “for me?” she gasped, gently taking the cash and holding it close to her chest.
“yeah,” Mal smirked, cocking her hip and crossing her arms “you earned it” Mal watched the younger teen as she skipped over to the register, only to be stopped by a black leather-gloved hand.
“hand it over you runt” Davy growled, his dark blue eyes staring threateningly into Dizzy’s. Jack the monkey giving the young vk a sharp grin. Dizzy’s shoulders dropped as she handed over the once new $50 and pouted as Davy turned to the register counter and tapped it with his knuckle. “the rest of it too, don’t want the crew trashin’ the place eh?”
Dizzy kept her eye on Jack as she walked around the counter and opened the register, taking what little money was left inside and placing it into Davys open palm. He hummed, giving a taunting bow to Dizzy and turning to leave.
“Considering you don’t got a crew I assume that your running errands for some dolt captain?” Mal taunted, smirking as Davy slowly turned to glare at her.
“well well, look whose back” he purred, walking closer to her and lifting Jack to sit on one of the empty chairs “how exciting!”
“…” Mal just rose her brow, moving her wrist slightly to unlodge her switchblade from her sleeve.
“and for your information, I run under the orders of Uma now~” he chuckled, reaching forward and brushing his fingers against Mal's hair “and I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if I rough up her little enemy huh Jack?” Jack bounced excitedly and screeched, Davy yelped loudly as Mal suddenly grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his torso, pulled him up against her chest, and shoved her knife very close to the artery in his throat.
“touch me again and Uma will be down a man” she growled, feeling the headache return as her eyes glowed. Davy kept his eyes locked on hers, a drop of sweat trailing from his brow.
She slowly released Davy's arm and pushed him away from her, letting out a cold cackle as he stumbled over a chair and some of Dizzy’s products spilled over him. He sat up, his hair covered in pink and green shampoo as he glared at her. “this ain't over yet you imp” he snarled, holding out his hand for Jack.
The monkey leaped onto his arm and scuttled up to his shoulder, curling his tail around the pirate teen's neck. “you'll be sorry” he huffed, stomping out of the salon with a screeching monkey in his ear.
Mal rolled her eyes, walking over to Dizzy and tossing the cash she had pickpocketed back from Davy to the younger teen. “oh!” Dizzy gasped, the bright grin that had disappeared with Davy’s appearance coming back to light “thank you!”
“don’t mention it” Mal hummed looking in the mirror shards again and fluffing up her hair “oh and by the way” she walked close to Dizzy, leaning down to whisper in the girl's ear “Harrys here too, but don’t worry if you see him, he won't steal from you” Dizzy gave her an odd look “just wanted to let you know so you don’t freak out?” the younger teen slowly nodded and placed the cash into the register.
“Alright then, I’ll-where are you going?” Dizzy asked, watching ask Mal grabbed her backpack and made her way to the main door.
“back to my apartment, got nothing to do other to be there” Mal sighed, waving Dizzy goodbye and walking out of the salon, smirking as the residents that were walking around realized who she was, and scrambled to get out of her way.
She held her head high as she walked back to the hideout, yes, she might have been on the hell-like prison isle again, but she felt freer here than she had been in the past 4 months in Auradon.
=
Harry carefully looked around his empty dark apartment, not knowing if someone had claimed it after he left. He looked to his right, seeing one of his extra swords sitting by the door. He picked it up and flipped it in his hands, continuing to walk the large two-room apartment and keeping quiet to hear for any intruders.
“YOU’RE BACK!” Harry let out a yelp as someone slammed into his back and tackled him to the floor. He let out a low groan as the person who had tackled him giggled as she sat on his back.
“Hey CJ” he muttered, lifting his head and looking over his shoulder to see his little sister grinning down at him, her brown eyes alight with mischief. “aye, I’m back”
“haha! I told Harriet you were waiting for the right moment to strike! So where is it?! Where’s the wand” she started to palm around his jacket, searching for one of the only things that could break the barrier surrounding the isle.
Harry sat up, knocking CJ off his back and moving into his butt, crossing his legs and leaning against his knees “I’m not here fer tha’ CJ, in fact, tha’s not the plan anymore” CJ stopped in her attempt to continue searching his person, sitting back on her heels and staring at him with wide eyes.
Harry waited for CJ to yell at him for betraying her, but when she only stared at him in shock, he took his chance to explain everything. “look, CJ, I don’t have a way ta explain why I decided to turn meh back on evil, but I did, and I don’t regret it” he sighed, reaching out and holding onto CJs shoulders, watching as she slowly started to shake
“but I promised five months ago I would get more kids off and that’s been unfortunately ignored by the council and beasty boy. I came here ta tell yeh I haven’t forgotten about yeh or Harriet, that I’m still going ta get yeh off the isle and away from da, I won't break meh promise to either of yeh.” CJ grabbed his arms and slowly took his hands off her shoulders, her eyes drifting to the floor.
“…it was that prissy Auradon girl wasn’t it” CJ snapped, her eyes snapping back up to glare into his “she turned you, made you go all goody two shoes” she snarled, yelling as she tried to stand but Harry wrapped his arms around her, easily pulling her back to the ground and into his lap “Lemme go you traitor!!! I trusted you! You were supposed to free us al-mmf!” Harry covered her mouth, shushing her.
“shut up! Let me explain what I can CJ, yes, (y/n) is one of the reasons I turned my back on evil, but she is NOT a prissy Auradon girl, she's one of the most badass lassies I've ever known, and I love her!” CJ stopped, slowly turning her head to look at him with wide eyes “I know yeh think I've betrayed yeh, but I didn’t, I betrayed da, that was it.” He stressed, shaking CJ lightly to get the point across “I realized I didn’t want da to be free, he’s a horrible person CJ, he deserves ta be here, but yeh don’t, Harriet doesn’t either, we”
he pointed between the two of them “are not responsible for da’s actions and don’t deserve ta be punished fer what he’s done. Beasty boy agrees, and I've been trying for the last five months to get yeh and Harriet off the isle. I promise” he pulled CJ into a tight hug, hoping to convince her that he hadn’t betrayed her, or abandoned her. “I never meant ta leave you here”
It was a few moments of tense silence before CJs smaller arms wrapped around Harry's neck, her head coming to rest in the spot between his shoulder and neck “I believe you” she muttered, sniffing lightly. She and Harry sat in silence for a few moments, before CJ spoke again “you’ve changed.”
“fer the better” Harry muttered back “I’m still yer brother, and I haven’t changed in the ways yeh truly knew me, but I’m not the same as I was 6 months ago” he pulled back, giving his baby sister a soft smile, one she had only seen a few times in her life. She continued to stare at him for another moment before one of her usual shit-eating grins spread across her face. Harry mentally groaned as CJ tipped forward and shoved him to the ground
“Just because you changed big bwudda~” she teased, saying his title in a baby voice “Don’t mean the way I mess with you will….please tell me you still steal stuff? Like-you didn’t go full goody two shoes?” CJ pleaded, crossing her arms on his chest and pouting at him.
Harry snorted and pushed her off of him, sitting up and smirking at her “you do!” CJ cheered, throwing her hands up in the air and throwing them around his torso “what's your biggest score?!”
“uhhhh, beasty boys crown” Harry smiled, remembering when he and (y/n) had decided that Ben's crown was a good thing to steal at 1 am when they were delirious from not sleeping. “no.way” CJ laughed, slapping him on the arm to encourage him to tell the story “what made you-?”
“(y/n) ‘n I were really tired from our history report at 1 am so she just suggested we take his crown and I agreed” Harry shrugged, snickering as CJ started to giggle so hard, she clutched her sides.
“ooooh my hades! That’s amazing” she snorted, letting herself fall on her side and grin up at Harry through teary eyes “…anything else?”
“(y/n) stole FGs wand a couple times?” Harry offered, falling back slightly as CJ sat up suddenly and grabbed his shoulders.
“SHE WHAT? WHY DID YOU KEEP THIS AMAZING INFORMATION FROM ME?! You want me to like her dont ya?! that’s all you had to say! I love her already when are you marrying her?” Harry felt his face flush and he slapped off CJs hands.
“I-CJ! We’ve-it’s only been six months since we started dating?! I only just admitted to myself that I love ‘er” CJ rolled her eyes.
“blah blah blah, those boradon heroes marry each other after knowing each other for five minutes, you’ve got six months, just use moms ring for her or something” Harry facepalmed and shook his head.
“CJ, I haven’t even told (y/n) tha’ I love ‘er yet, chill” CJ pouted and shoved at his shoulder.
“coward, she sounds awesome, and yet you wait to snatch her up, wait too long and I’ll lose a dope ass sister-in-law” Harry just stared at her blankly and pushed her face away from him.
“Alright, I’m done talking about tha’ ta yeh, where’s Harriet? I need ta talk ta ‘er too” CJ shrugged and stood from the floor, dusting her long scarlet jacket off.
“dunno, last I saw her was at school” Harry crossed his arms and rose his brow. “okay okay, she's hanging around her ship, the other side of Uma’s side of the Warf, the two had a truce for a couple months before well…” she gestured to him “you didn’t come back” Harry’s shoulders dropped and he shook his head.
“I didn’t mean ta leave fer so long, but beasty boy was distracted and the council was being assholes, I couldn’t do much about it” CJ rolled her eyes and smacked his shoulder.
“and you’ve already apologized about it….which is weird and never ever do it again, or I will stab you” she snarked, giving him a sharp grin and spinning around towards his front door. “Harriet’s busy right now so you’ll have to wait until she's done with it”
“wha’ is she doin’?” Harry sighed, following after CJ and leaning against the doorway.
“uhhhh captain crew stuff, dunno, she didn’t let me hang around and stuck the twins on me” she pouted, glaring off at the building in front of his.
“Sterling n’ Skipper? How are they?” he asked, smiling as CJ gave him a simple thumbs up.
“They good….as good as a Smee kid can be, Harriet’s taken to make sure everyone knows they are under the Hook family’s protection, not even Davy messes with them.” Harry uncrossed his arms and his jaw clicked.
“Davy?” he muttered; he had been wondering about what the son of Barbossa was doing “what about Davy?” CJ sighed and gave him a look.
“He’s Uma’s first mate….” she waited for his reaction, winching as Harry's icy blue eyes turned dark and he clicked his jaw again.
“….Uma thinks I left ‘er don’t she?” he muttered, looking down at his shoes and gritting his teeth.
“yeah….” CJ hummed, sticking her hands in her jacket pockets as she rocked on her heels, watching as Harry clenched his fists so hard they shook “I’m guessing you’re gonna go talk to Uma now?”
“aye” he muttered, turning and grabbing his extra sword again, looking for its sheath “I’ll see yeh later”
CJ nodded and turned, quickly going down the stairs of the building and heading back to Facilier’s arcade to hang with Freddie. “don’t let dad see you!” she yelled behind her shoulder, nodding to herself in satisfaction as Harry yelled back.
“don’t plan on letting ‘im even know I’m ‘ere!”
CJ disappeared into the alleys, leaving Harry to finish gearing up and get ready to head to the chip shop.
He needed to explain something to his oldest friend.
-end of part 6-
Here it is~ part 6, imma keep this little explanation note thing short and just say, I know CJ turned her opinion around on (y/n) and Harry being “better” pretty quickly, but really, (or at least hopeful I've made it come across clearly) Harry hasn’t changed much, the only thing about him that’s different is that he has better coping mechanisms, mentally healthier, and doesn’t steal as much as he used to. And CJ would love anyone who steals from Ben and FG, no doubt.
Yes, I changed Mal's hairstyle for D2 cuz I hate that damn pink wig and it's cut so much, so I made my own hairstyle. Also, I hope I made Mal actually intimidating in the little Mal vs Davy thing because in the OG version with Mal vs Harry she's JUST kitten pouting at him as if it’s doing anything. So, I hope I did her justice while also showing that she's still softer due to being in Auradon. (but only for Dizzy)
Also, Davy and Harry will officially meet (or reunite) next chapter, hold on to your butts! It's gonna be a rocky ride! (don’t worry bout Harry against Davy tho, Harry’s been eating actual food so he’s physically much stronger now and could easily kick Davy’s ass even without his extra sword)
also first fic/chapter of the year~

for the ask meme: uma or audrey, hades or maleficent, jaylos or malvie, ben or jane, and doug or chad! (this is a fun game i likes reading ur answers for the other ones you got)
Thank you for sending in an ask and I'm glad you've been liking my responses! 😄
Uma. I didn't like Audrey from the start, the fake laughing and snooty attitude immediately set me on edge. Also, I'll never forgive her for straight up just dismissing Evie for no reason. I personally believe they could've gone a different way with Audrey's storyline, they could've made sure to really focus on the family pressure aspect of it and because of all of that pressure she turned evil 🤷♂️ I don't think they gave Evil!Audrey the nuance it deserved. The real villain is Queen Leah. I also low-key think it could've been Jane that went evil. I will say one thing though, I do like Audrey's d3 aesthetic and parts of her behaviour make sense (even if I don't agree with them) and her "what are you going to do?marry them" line did crack me up, so she gets points for that I guess. Don't attack me, I'm sorry!
But anyway. I like Uma, she's strong, determined, fricking adorable (that little twirl in d3 🥺), compassionate, strong. Uma has a good heart and again it corms down to her snark and sass. This is why I love Mal, Uma and Evie because they're all so snarky but in different ways. Uma in d3 was just 👌 she cracked me up constantly and just "how can anyone with this bed be unhappy"
Okay, as separate characters away from any descendants ties, I would say Maleficent. I really like Maleficent as both a villain and in her live-action movies - which are both underrated and I personally think they're absolutely fantastic. However, in the case of descendants I'll go for Hades, simply because he at least seemed to care about Mal and I firmly belive that Maleficent never did and never will.
I also have thoughts on an au scenario that @strivia and I were discussing about Mal trying to run away from Maleficent and Hades basically adopting and raising Mal. And then when Mal talks about her friends and their terrible parents; Hades basically starts adopting all the rotten four and others and it becomes a Hades daycare centre 😂 where he has to wrangle all fo these like 4-7 year olds which is an incredibly amusing image to think of. Like Hades with Mal sat on his shoulders, Jay swinging on one arm, Evie cradled in one arm (because she's the most chill in comparison) and Carlos wrapped around one of Hades' legs. You have all been blessed with this image, your welcome.
😭 Y'all are evil. I really love them both, and as you guys can gather by now I'm really into them both in the rotten ot4 as well. Aaaaaarghhhh, maybe if I keep screaming I can avoid the answer. I was into Malvie right from their opening scene and I am a sucker for the "grumpy one being soft for their person". I relate more to Mal and Evie’s relationship. The nuzzle Mal does when they hug 🥺 and how much they support one another, the anthem of all anthems, "not even close" like mhmm I see you Miss Evie 👀 and how soft Mal is for Evie...did I say soft - I meant whipped.
This question is rudeeeeeeeeeee. I love Jaylos. The height difference 👌 My boys are so precious and the softest of dorks. Carlos leaping into Jay's arms, Jay being protective over Carlos, the wrestling, the soft looks at coronation and "I'd miss you most" I love them so very much. I can have the best of both worlds with the rotten ot4 so 😉 this question nearly destroyed me, and I low-key didn't actually answer. Just wait until I get to Sparrow's questions 💀
Ben. I don't like Jane in D1 at all. I like her in D3 and I do kind of like her in D2 but I never formed a huge attachment to Jane, like I did for Lonnie.
Ben 🥺 he tries his best. I think Ben is sweet and he cares so much, even when he doesn't always make the wisest of choices. Ben is so innocent and he's such a dork like the "yeah, mum won't let him on the couch" and roaring as he jumps in the lake. Ben's under a lot of pressure too and I like to write him letting loose and doing things he probably wasn't allowed to do when they were forcing him to be King at 16 😑 also it amuses me greatly that Ben falls in love with every VK he meets, that's canon I don't make the rules. So, Ben!
💀💀💀💀 I hate both of them so much. Doug is creepy and a stalker and just YUCK. Chad is such trash, more so in the first movie because he's just so nasty. I'm so confused as to how Cinderella raised him. But, because his scenes in D2 didn't make me want to poke my eyes out, I'll go with Chad.
#Descendants#uma daughter of ursula#ben florian#Rotten four#I'm tagging because I don't want to just straight up bash in the tags and I don't want to fight anyone about this#I know people like some of these characters. I just am not one of those people 😅#Anti Doug son of dopey#Anti Audrey daughter of sleeping beauty#Anti Chad charming#These were so much fun even if I ended up whale screeching at some of them#Choose ask game#Asks#Spidey speaks

SIS have you read the summary for what Escape from the Isle of the Lost is about? Because I have some feelings! I won't say anything in here however in case you haven't. If you do wanna see the summary its on the JustJaredJr website.
Hi Anon! I have read the summary, but I haven’t, ya know, READ the Summary. However, I say now would be a good a time as any to go through it line by line :)
Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos may have once been the baddest of the bad, but their wicked ways are (mostly) behind them—and now graduation is almost here! But before the seniors can don their custom-designed caps and gowns, courtesy of Evie, they’ve got an epic plan to put into action.
I’m gonna start this by saying my Grammarly check told me ‘baddest’ is not a word…what the fuck Disney.
Onto the good stuff: Yay, these adult-lookin’ teens are finally gonna graduate! That means we can say safely that most of them are 18 by D3, which is probably gonna be about graduation. And of course, the custom caps and gowns are gonna be colorful and fun if they’re designed by Evie.
There are tons of villain kids on the Isle of the Lost who are eager for their chance to come to Auradon Prep – even Celia, Dr. Facilier’s trickster daughter, wants in on the deal! – and Mal’s crew is using their upcoming visit to the Isle to help make it happen. But Auradon’s biggest threat is still at large…
YAY! MORE VILLAIN KIDS TO BRING OVER! And I am SO here from Celia’s first impression being ‘trickster.’ I’m here to protect her at all costs!
The Core Four are making an UPCOMING visit to the Isle–possibly also build up for the visit to be in D3, especially with those promo clips we saw of them on the Isle.
Now for the biggest threat…*sigh*…I know who it’s gonna be, and I dunno why I hate it so much. Like yeah, she is the ONLY threat to Auradon at the moment, so it is the BIGGEST, but if they tryna make her the Big Bad in D3 imma throw hands bc she is JUSTIFIED!
Trapped on the other side of the barrier, Uma is more desperate than ever to get her long-awaited revenge against Mal. When she discovers an underground lair belonging to Hades, god of the underworld, Uma realizes she’s found the perfect partner in crime. Together, they can defeat Mal, bring down the barrier, and escape the Isle for good.
I may just be a biased Uma Stan that thinks she is less of a villain, more of an antagonist, but I just hate how they say here that she’s ‘desperate’ and that her revenge is just against Mal? Am I the only one who feels like her main grudge is against all of Auradon and her thing against Mal is additional? I wanna know what you guys think about that because I just don’t like the way that line reads.
Okay, I’ve read the “Trapped on the other side of the barrier” line like five times now and I still don’t know which side she is ACTUALLY TRAPPED ON! If she made it back onto the Isle, how? I’d like to know! But she could be trapped outside of the barrier, and honestly, that’s the only way she could still be a BIG threat to Auradon. By trapped, it’d be like being stuck between a rock (the barrier) and a hard place (Auradon out for her arrest). Uma could find an underground lair underwater because she’s Ursula daughter, so that’d be dope. How Hades has an Underground layer outside of the Isle, well, he’s a fucking god. I wouldn’t doubt it.
Uma and Hades Team Up can be good or bad. On one hand, I would love to see them reference Hades as Uma’s uncle. I know that the whole ‘Ursula and Triton are Poseidon’s kids’ thing is never fully acknowledged in The Little Mermaid Movie, but it isn’t refuted either, and since it’s canon in the musical and was in the original movie notes, I think it’d be cool.
However, I’m worried about a) Uma being corrupted into a mindset that it’s “One for all and all for me.” or be) Uma getting emotionally manipulated.
If Uma’s stuck alone with Hades for too long, hearing his ramblings of betrayal and how living alone is better and blah blah, Captain “My crew is the only real family I have” Uma might doubt her own beliefs. This is all kinda speculative, but we can all agree that Uma is a very crew-oriented person. She doesn’t like being the loner, but Hades’ ramblings of power in solitude might change her for the worse, and I ain’t tryna read a book where Uma frightfully questions her relationships with her crew like Gil and *ahem* HARRY!
On the other hand, Uma might go along with what Hades is doing for the common goal and because she’s at a low point (in which case, desperate is an appropriate word). Hades, however, is using his familial ties to a sea witch on the outside of the barrier for his own personal gain. This way, when Uma demands her split of the deal (probably freedom for the Isle), Hades, who really only wanted to free himself and dominate the world, is like “lmao u thought i was serious? silly niece, honesty is for heroes” in which case I will cry because I am SICK of people betraying Uma.
Also, Uma’s perfect partner-in-crime has and always will be Harry.
Mal and Uma have a score to settle, and they’ll come face to face in an explosive underwater battle that could determine the fates of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost once and for all.
If this is supposed to mean that dumb Under The Sea thing, that was a friggin dream. Also, if Uma and Mal are fighting in this book (not in a dream), we all know Mal is gonna either win or retreat since she’s the main character. If you’re tryna tell me that Mal would beat Uma underwater, Imma have some serious bones to pick.
Best case scenario: They fight and argue while they are fighting, and Mal is like “why do u hate me so much omg leave auradon alone if u just hate me” and Uma legit is just done with her and is all “Bish I’m fighting for the vks u abandoned, u just happen to be in my way (high key I also hate u)” and that just makes Mal question everything and then they both retreat after a dangerous stalemate, and that’ll build the foundation for their alliance in D3.
That’s all for my analysis of the Summary! Lemme know what you guys think, if you agree or disagree, or anything you wanna say about the upcoming book!

Ranking : Quentin Tarantino (1963 - present)
When it comes to connecting ‘cool’ with cinema of the past 3 decades, the name that often skyrockets to the top of most lists is Quentin Tarantino. With a distinct flare for mixing varied genres with the grace of a DJ, a unique tone in terms of both dialogue and humor, and more controversy than a gaggle of directors can shake a stick at often surrounding his name, Tarantino’s output never ceases to entertain or amaze. We never quite know what he’ll bring to the table next, but we know what he’s left at the table, and now is the time to put them in a personal favorite order.
While possibly controversial in its inclusion, Four Rooms will be on this list due to Tarantino’s distinct style being present in his equally timed segment of the film. Conversely, Sin City will not be included, as he only co-directed a scene and not an entire section of the film. True Romance and Natural Born Killers have also been excluded, as Tarantino did not direct those films, despite his involvement in them.
10. Four Rooms (1995) While not a full feature directed by Tarantino, his portion was the perfect way to wrap up the entire film. His portion amped up the film’s energy, the stakes were instantly recognizable and identifiable to a viewer, putting this feeling in the pit of your stomach that rides with you until the inevitable conclusion, and it was a continuation of the wonderful working chemistry between Tarantino and Tim Roth. It anchors this list simply because it is not a full-length feature, but it is a notable breathing point in a remarkable career.
9. Inglorious Basterds (2009) In terms of premise alone, this movie should have done it for me. Christoph Waltz gave a performance for the ages. Even my friend Tina Rodriguez is in the opening frames of this film. To put it plain and simple, the final 20 or so minutes of this film lost any and all momentum it had built, in my eyes, and became a piece of shock exploitation when it could have continued being a genre-redefining twist on a story we are all too familiar with. Basterds was definitely a shot at something unique, but Tarantino would go on to do it better in the next film on this list.
8. Django Unchained (2012) This could have been much higher on the list, as it does (in my opinion) what Inglorious Basterds could not in terms of taking a genre or topic we believe is well defined and putting a fresh spin on it. Making a continuation of the Django western series with a former slave in the starring role is a bold choice, but Tarantino came within a breath of hitting the bullseye. The only, and I mean ONLY thing that kicks this film so far down the list is the HORRIBLE choice to include the rap music cues more than two-thirds into the film’s run. It totally took me out of the world that the film had built, and turned it into a Robert Rodriguez level ending for what was nearly a modern day masterpiece.
7. Grindhouse - Death Proof (2007) This film oozes so much style and bravado that it’s almost disgusting. The cars chosen for this film would fit wonderfully in my collection when I become a rich man. The collisions captured for the film are some of the most jaw dropping and gut wrenching ever committed to celluloid. Kurt Russell is a pure joy to watch in this film, and every woman cast in this film has something unique about them that demands your attention and tugs at your heartstrings (if not base desires). The heavy exploitation elements, including the raucous ending, are pitch perfect. Even the touch of the entire missing reel in the theatrical version, present in the home released full cut, divides viewers, as many are missing a huge exposition chunk not present in theaters. Probably would not have worked as well outside of the Grindhouse context, but nevertheless a pleasant surprise of a film that emerged from that collaborative project.
6. Jackie Brown (1997) For a passion project, this film really finds its groove and sticks the landing. One of a handful of Elmore Leonard novels that found its way to the big screen in the mid to late 1990′s, Jackie Brown might be the one that speaks best to an older time and sentiment being forced to find value in a changing age. Robert Forrestor and Pam Grier’s chemistry is undeniable, Bridget Fonda brings a whimsy to the screen not present in full sincerity since the 1970′s, and seeing Samuel L. Jackson paired with Robert De Niro is cinematic gold. The soundtrack is amazing, the story is easy to relate to, and the style used for the film was probably the last Scorcese-esque approach Tarantino used before committing fully to the flare and outlandishness of his exploitation desires. An underappreciated gem, in all honesty.
5. Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003)
4. Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004) Oh, what could have been... here was an idea, when pitched, that would cover three to four hours of runtime, emotional and action-based peaks and valleys unparalleled in modern day film, and revitalize the possibility of a director’s vision and execution being identical if not extremely similar. Instead, what we were given were two halves of one film promoted and released as separate films, thoroughly confusing the majority of the viewing public and showing that, despite all that Quentin had done prior, he was still left to answer to the powers that be at Miramax. Had this film been released in its original intended presentation, it would very like be the top film on this list. I will hold out indefinitely for the hopes that it is re-cut as one film for the Criterion Collection one day.
3. The Hateful Eight (2015) Another film that seems deeply personal upon repeat viewing. This one was very specific on the technical side when it came to shooting with the Ultra Panavision 70 (for a true 70mm aspect ratio), but the result is an amazingly claustrophobic experience, as most of this wideness was used to capture strangers locked in together during a fierce snowstorm. Casting Kurt Russell in a low-key remake of The Thing is a stroke of genius. Casting Jennifer Jason Leigh in a scene-stealing lead actress role was another. This film is perfectly tense when it needs to be, extremely violent (usually out of the blue), and hilarious all in equal measure. A true example of what the film experience can (and should) be, and one that must be seen on a big screen if afforded the opportunity.
2. Reservoir Dogs (1992) It may seem obvious, but one way to get an established and fruitful career is with a monumental and mind-blowing debut. In the case of Quentin Tarintino, we got an exercise in minimalism, a showcase for a handful of actors that were not getting the respect they deserved at the time, and a (deceptively) straightforward genre film that you can hang your notions and comparisons on. What is quickly revealed, however, is a demonstration of how tough guys can be cordial when they need to be, and all business when the heat is on. This tale of a robbery gone horribly wrong shows almost none of the robbery, focusing instead on mostly fallout, and still somehow manages to ratchet the tension up so high that you find yourself constantly on the edge of your seat. Cool aesthetic is drenched all over this film, from casting to production to wardrobe. The radio motif presented in both the film and the soundtrack further solidify the film and sear images into the memory, making them instantly recognizable and utterly unforgettable.
1. Pulp Fiction (1994) Tarantino’s magnum opus. The film where he not only truly honed in on his first great run thanks to his style, aesthetic and motifs, but the film that spawned a generation of copycats, both directly and in terms of general filmmaking style. The film made John Travolta a star to an entirely new generation, it helped put Bruce Willis back on the map, and it made household names out of Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Ving Rhames. If there were a single film that was ever symbolic of 1990′s cinema, one would be hard pressed find a film more suitable than this one to fulfill that role. Tarantino was truly firing on all cylinders when he put this one together. The film is so good that it made most everything he touched an instant classic for a long, long time afterwards.
If their were ever a director (or a list) made to generate debate, it would be this one. I anticipate disagreements, and in time, I even anticipate this list to probably change. But, as of this point in my life, and this point in Tarantino’s career, I feel strongly and confidently that this is a good representation of his work and how they stand up to one another.

Spring 2018 Anime First Impressions
Two weeks into the season - basically on schedule by my standards! This season, as always, has ups and downs as well as popular shows I’m not watching (Megalobox) and shows I immediately regret starting (Devils Line). As a further point, I don’t do impressions of sequels, and in this case I’m including Steins;Gate 0 as a sequel because it is so based on the events of the main show. Regardless, here’s what I’m watching with MAL links and original shows marked:
Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Die Neue These (MAL) Look, I'm not going to immediately say go watch the original LOGH, but I'm kidding that's exactly what I'm going to say. LOGH is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. My issue with this series is not that they will not represent the characters badly, but that 110 episodes shoved into 12 episodes and three movies is simply not enough. LOGH has a scale, a grandeur, a weight that is conveyed as you invest yourself into it for hours on end, from bombastic space battles and the minutiae of day-to-day politics. You need both scales, the imperial and the individual, to really experience LOGH, and I feel like 12 episodes isn't enough time to have both. The LOGH remake looks and sounds fine (though with way too much CG and a bit of same-facing with Reinhard and Kircheis), but I am incredibly nervous about the pacing. This is a first impression, and if Production I.G. pulls this off it will be a classic reimagined for a modern audience that deserves it. But I simply don't think that's going to happen. I'm hopeful, but apprehensive. And again, watch the original. It is pure class.
Persona 5 the Animation (MAL) Play the game first. Please.
Devils Line (MAL) A world where vampires exist under the guise of normal people and some lose control and kill under cover of night. Basically Tokyo Ghoul with less of a vampire "society" and more just individual threats, with more of a sexual twist. Tsukasa is our helpless college heroine, adrift as she finishes school, when she finds out the guy who likes her is a serial murderer who wants blood! So wacky! She's saved by Anzai, a calm, collected member of the agency tasked with dealing with vampires, before unintentionally revealing himself a vampire. Yet we are expected to just accept Anzai forcing himself on Tsukasa because he's the savior? Right. Background sound design isn't bad, art/animation are bland and at times awkward. Devils Line is trying real hard to be a new Tokyo Ghoul, but now with more sexual undertones for whatever reason. Pass.
3D Kanojo: Real Girl (MAL) Ah, otaku love. At least it can't be worse than Saekano, right? That'd be a serious challenge. 3D Kanojo follows Tsutsui, an otaku that suffers the typical ostracization of anime, when he meets Iroha, a blunt girl who for once doesn't ostracize him. The first episode has plenty of the classics - falling into a pool, talking about "3D women" being out of his league, heroics when he knows he can't win. Everything you'd expect. By the end of the episode, things progressed a helluva lot more than I expected, in many ways. It seems thus far that the otaku thing is the impetus for Tsutsui's low opinion of himself, rather than anime being the point of the show. More introspective than I would otherwise think, I think 3D Kanojo holds a lot of slight surprises. It's interesting, for sure, and I hope it continues that way.
Tachibanakan Triangle (MAL) One of two short anime I'm watching this season, Tachibanakan follows a girl who moves into a girls apartment complex and gets more yuri than she bargained for. We've got the fang-sporting short one, the quiet one, the onee-san, the blonde foreigner, you name it. I don't expect a lot of character development or anything similar, but three and a half minutes of yuri sounds just fine to me.
Uma Musume (MAL) First off, props to the show for making the horse girls' names just as stupid as those of real racehorses. I mean, I know it’s because the girls are named after real racehorses, but still. Uma Musume involves a world where horseracing is hugely popular, only the racers are anthropomorphic horse girls. Our main girl is Special Week, a newbie transferring to a popular racing school in Tokyo. She's your typical genki type - eager, energetic, bright-eyed. Enthralled by one of the top girls Silence Suzuka, she aims to become one of the top horse girls in Japan. Oh, and the top horse girls perform as idols after each race. This sure is a mobile game adaptation, god damn. P.A. Works' art looks solid as always (props to the flowing tail animation); the OP and ED are pretty standard idolish stuff. I prefer the ED. Anthropomorphic racing is fine, yet for some reason the idol part is what makes it weird for me. This show is strange, but if it's not much more than cute horse girls doing cute horse girl things, I'll keep paying attention.
SAO Alternative: Gun Gale Online (MAL) I hate SAO. I have a laundry list of reasons that I despised both seasons of SAO. The reason I'm giving GGO a chance is because the main charater is a girl playing a cute chibi girl in-game and she just wants to make friends. Hopefully, that will avoid the terrible pitfall that was anything relating to Kirito. GGO starts right in the action, with a topical Battle Royale mode putting our pink girl and her partner right into the action. The tactics are good and help set up the basic premises of the gametype, if that necessitated a bit too much monologuing by M, the partner. Also, plenty of pouts. Always a bonus. As always the invincibility of the protag is annoying, but I don't really expect breakthrough plot changes from an SAO spinoff. I mean, SAO S1 was good for the first 10 episodes too. Keep this cute girl and not-harem, focus on connecting with others through video games rather than shanking perverts in a parking lot, and it'll be solid.
Hinamatsuri (MAL) A super-powered middle-schooler falls into the life of a nicer-than-normal yakuza. Nitta is the yakuza, with a penchant for fancy porcelain. Hina is the middle-schooler, your typical otherworldly killing machine set into an unfamiliar world. Hinamatsuri puts a lot of good spins on the taking-care-of-a-supernatural-girl trope, with the main character being a yakuza rather than an "average high schooler." Furthermore, there are some nice father-daughter vibes going between the two, though it's clear Hina maintains the upper hand. Won over by Nitta's refusal to use her as just a tool, their life together begins. The comedy is your standard boke/tsukkomi, but the lightning-quick delivery of the lines had me cracking up regardless. Hinamatsuri looks like it could go darker any second, but if it doesn't I'm perfectly content to stay around.
Comic Girls (MAL) Probably the most classic cute girls doing cute things show this season, Comic Girls follows a group of mangaka girls living in a dorm together. Moeta is the worrywart crybaby, Koyume's the genki blonde, Ruki is the less-than-secret pervert, and Tsubasa is the tomboy. There's plenty of nice compliments between the girls' personalities, and Koyume and Moeta seem like a great fit as the newbies in the group. Furthermore, their personalities being informed by the manga they draw allows for a nice exploration of manga cliches through their interactions. This looks to be more on the character-driven side than a deep dive into the logistics of manga production, but that's just fine. Animation and sound aren't really anything special, but they're by no means bad. As a slice-of-life fan I'm all in, even if this show doesn't turn out to be anything super unique.
[ORIG] Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai (MAL) Tada-kun follows, well, Tada-kun - a student and photographer who runs into Teresa, a rich European while taking pictures. Tada-kun, following the show's title "Tada Doesn't Fall in Love," has a calm, somewhat stoic demeanor, while Teresa is your bright, beautiful girl finally in the Japan she'd only seen on TV. After meeting multiple times as Teresa wanders lost, Tada helps her out of the rain before she finds her hotel, right next to his family's coffee shop. And then, of course, she transfers into his school along with her bodyguard, the fiery-tempered Alec. The art is crisp and animated well, and both the OP and ED have their charms. I personally like romance focused tightly on a single pair (Tsuki ga Kirei and Ore Monogatari are two stellar examples), and I hope this delivers. With a single couple development becomes the key, but if this show keeps it up - increasing interactions leading to discovered feelings, all starting from a photo (sounds a bit like Just Because, don't you think?), this will be a emotionally engaging experience.
Fumikiri Jikan (MAL) The other short show I'm watching, Fumikiri Jikan is about conversations while waiting for the train to pass. The first episode ran the gamut all the way from peppy slice of life to romantic character drama. Being so tightly focused on conversations and with limited time, a show like this needs to nail the dialogue to set up the characters each episode. I felt like I almost watched a movie in three minutes this time, and that's a good thing. The main sticking point is that with individual stories each time, quality can vary wildly. This show is a bit strange but equally interesting, but it will certainly depend on the story being told.
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (MAL) Ah, otaku love. It can't be worse than Saekano, right? That would be a serious challenge. Wotaku ni Koi puts a spin on the genre by situating the main characters as adults who met each other in middle school and just now reconnected. The main cast of four and especially the banner couple Hirotaka and Narumi are uniquely quirky and their personalities gel so well with each other. Despite the long gap in meeting each other I feel the chemistry immediately between the two, and as episode one ends with their relationship actually beginning I'm all in. Not only does Wotakoi change things up by having the main characters as adults but it also gets past all the roundabout bullshit that often bogs down high-school romances. Furthermore, the true enthusiasm with which Hirotaka and Narumi can nerd out about what they like is refreshing, kind of like Animegataris before it became the Matrix. Combine that with a crisp art style and great musical themes, and maybe Wotakoi can provide the grounded otaku love story we've been waiting for. Oh, and fuck the Saekano shout-out. Not that I'm going to let that cloud my thoughts on Wotakoi - I just really, really don't like Saekano.
Golden Kamuy (MAL) This season's "a popular manga is finally getting an anime" show, Golden Kamuy is the story of a soldier and an Ainu girl suriving in the north of Japan in the Ruso-Japanese War era just after the turn of the 20th century. The pair aims to find a hidden treasure, stolen from the Ainu and stashed by a criminal somewhere, with the location hidden on tattoos of various escaped prisoners. I enjoy historical shows, and Kamuy is great in that it is more than just feudal Japan or something similar - the snowy, late-Meiji Hokkaido setting is undoubtedly unique. Sugimoto, the soldier, has earned his nickname "Immortal" due to his war exploits, and his personality shows it - confident in his skills yet cautious of threats. Asirpa, the Ainu, is the resourceful, collected partner Sugimoto needs in the wilds of Hokkaido, and shares Sugimotos motivations, having lost her father to the criminal who hid the treasure. The art is clean, and while the main characters look good there needs to be mention of the awful-looking CG of the two bears and the wolf that make appearances in the first episode. It just looks horrible. The dynamic between Sugimoto and Asirpa is great - the contrast between violence and peace especially - and I look forward to see where they're going. I only wish the overall tone was more consistent - the first episode is a great solemn look at the task in front of them, while the second episode inserts a whole lot of "comedic" moments that seem out of place with the action and Sugimoto himself. Regardless, quick shout-out to Man With a Mission for the OP - one of my favorite bands and this song is no exception.
