So I've been listening to a lot of DnD podcasts lately while at work (specifically Just Roll With It's main riptide campaign) and of COURSE it made me think about putting my OCs into a dnd/fantasy setting

So here's my oc Ava (they/them) as a half-elf Rogue-turned-Undying-Warlock being very menacing shortly after making their deal!

Brief overview on their story in this au under the cut :)

They *used to be* a pirate with their friend Cae (any pronouns, tiefling rogue), but on their adventures they were hit with a powerful curse that almost claimed their life many many times in a short span of time. The two of them looked everywhere for a way to help Ava, but it was becoming increasingly clear that this curse was going to kill them faster than they could do anything about it, so Ava went behind Cae's back and made a deal with something that could benefit from all of Ava's near-death experiences!

This freaked Cae out so bad that the two of them got into a MASSIVE argument, leading to Ava being completely kicked off of the ship and having to fend for themself. Ava is an idiot though and treated their deal as a one-time transaction and kept searching for ways to actually *remove* the curse instead of just taking advantage of it through their patron.

On this mini-quest to study all sorts of magic they meet Shay (he/they, artificer dwarf) and Sophie (she/they, aasimar bard) and set sail again! They make their own spellbook and everything (read: take another rogue level and subclass into arcane trickster) and their patron gets Big Mad about it, so from that point forward ava is locked into their contract with their patron and doesn't do... Anything to jeopardize that relationship!

There are so many other people in the party and theres so much more that goes on to mirror the canon universe but i feel Embarrassed with three paragraphs already and will save ya'll from my rambling until i inevitably post more pts!dnd au art! :)

like back in august when Charlie (and JRWI by proxy) were looking for artists for the BITW coc campaign, I replied under his tweet with my stuff Mainly for funzies (was egged on by moots) thinking he'd never actually pick me (there were SO so many good artists under that post ain't no way...)

like I wish I could fully emphasize how much that gig means to me imagine: one of my favourite CCs ever, from one of my favourite podcasts EVER, liked MY art and talked to ME to essentially be an environmental concept artist (which is like.. my dream job btw) for HIS campaign??

and I felt so bad for him too ttwtt - ok - to Charlie our interactions were probably just like any other time commissioning an artist but for me I was mentally in the TRENCHES (in both a good and terrifying way). For someone with really, really, really horrible social anxiety I'm eternally grateful for his patience putting up with my awkwardness - he is seriously one of the most kindest people in the world ;_;

It was so nice hearing Charlie's ideas for the campaign and letting me build on top of it - it rly shows how important that campaign in particular and dnd as a whole is to him and the rest of the council and I feel so blessed to have been a part of that process >w<

Already have been in on Riptide and did some fanart at least but I'm a few episodes behind ahfvlsdkfhvb (somewhere in the 90s also without spoiling someone PLEASE tell me if or if not the mf 7hour long ep 100 is the finale im getting scared). I've been wanting to listen to the other patreon campaigns *Im scratching clawing at the walls on PD let me INNN* real bad but idk if my neurodivergent ass could keep focus on maintaining a subscription and catch up in time,, know that i want to tho!

Dont ask me how, tumblr just served me your big Crestwood analysis post from trespasser ago describing how you always picked the angry option as the only one feeling right within the context of the rest of the game. That was an insightful read :D I didn't know about it so much since I was always team "I'm worried about you and I'm willing to show up as someone you can rely on". I feel like the game nudged me into that direction from the very early "you can trust me !" dialogue option in Haven <3 (which I'm actually drawing fanart about right now in another tab LOL). It made me wonder if consolidating anger as Lavellan's response in that moment was your starting point for Isene as we know her in your fiction or if she predated this :) I apologize if you've already explained that 80 times before. – Kind regards

Hello, my friend. I appreciate your question. Some of my old posts from the Before Times have made the rounds over the past several months. I have reread a few of them and I still mostly stand by what they say lol. The one about the angry Lavellan response is definitely very personal to me, as I remember a lot of people telling me they appreciated my reading, and that they had totally different reactions, and it's always good to see how even as we all seem to love Solas with a similar devotion, we also all absorb and process this Solas romance so differently, depending on who we are. I think that's part of why Solavellan is so beautiful.

I do not remember consciously consolidating Sene's anger, though I had always thought of her as a very hot-tempered person. She is impulsive, and her emotions burn very brightly on the surface of her reactions, and in this, she can become reckless. However, I don't really think I had this very well formulated in my mind at this point, in Crestwood, and I actually do think it probably informed her characterization to some degree, the fact that I felt angry for her, and I know that she felt angry and blindsided in this moment. So in some ways, yes, she was born in that moment.

Over the years, I would formulate Sene's "anger" in lots of ways, through The Dead Season, and through my characterization of young Solas, who is a lot like Sene in his explosive nature, and also Sene's father, Revasan, who is an extremely blustery and expressive person. I always thought of Sene and her father as having great chemistry with Solas, who is an extremely emotional man, but who has been groomed to disguise his passion through duty, to become Fen'harel. He sees in them some brightly burning light in the new world, which draws him closer to his nature.

I don't really think I even get past the tip of the ice berg with Sene's anger in The Dead Season, tbh, which is a fix-it, and in which Solas, who was raised by a mother and a father, understood what it meant to be loved. But in Riptide, I excavate it much more fully. She uses it unconsciously to destroy her relationships, and she is constantly surprised when her friends and ex-lovers forgive her and love her still. In this way, she is slowly beginning to understand Solas, and his regrets. As I develop her now through the Veilguard canon time period, I see how her anger is changing into a different kind of obsession, and passion, which consumes her and grants her a kind of transcendence, though she struggles with it at first, and she searches out ways to self-medicate and quell her own fury. I am looking forward to developing her even further now, toward her reunion with Solas.

Anyway, I hope this answered your question! Sene is very important to me and I am always very happy when people want to talk about her.
