Reincarnation Au where Kaveh and Alhaithem reincarnate into Aventurine and Ratio. Because I've seen a ton of comparisons between these two and Need a reincarnation Au badly.
They're so similar on a surface level, flamboyant blonde x tsundere scholar. Then you get deeper and realize just how different they are. Alhaitham is lazy, and doesn't care about others. While Ratio is passionate to a fault, he's dedicated his life to teaching, to spreading knowledge.
And on the other side, we have Kaveh and Aventurine, two blondes who have lived lives of tragedy, and have self esteem in the negatives but try to cover it up with a flamboyant attitude. We have Kaveh who binds himself to his ideals, suffering for their sake. While Aventurine is bound by others and by fate itself and as such isn't free to hold himself to such ideals.
But If they're so different, how do you get Kaveh and Alhaithem to become into Adventurine and Dr Ratio? You may ask. And the answer is quite simple. You just break them.
Once upon a time, there lived Kaveh, who lived with Alhaithem. And they were in love, not that most people were able to tell what with all the fighting. A lot of it was over Kaveh's bleeding heart, how he would sacrifice himself on the altar of his ideals. How he would give and give only to receive nothing but pain in return. And then one day Kaveh got sick, and died, slowly, painfully, and far too young, questioning if it had all been worth it.
After Kaveh dies, a month or a year, some amount of time later, a cure is found. And Alhaithem recognizes the researcher who developed the cure, maybe they asked for his advice only to be shutdown, or they had submitted their research application while he was grand sage only for it to sit on his desk for a month and get rejected. Maybe nothing would have changed had he helped them, but possibly a cure would have been discovered quicker. And that possibility haunts Alhaithem, that maybe had he cared, maybe if he tried to help, maybe Kaveh would still be there. But maybes won't bring the dead back to life.
Thus in another life we have Aventurine, who can't quite remember why he tried to do the right thing, but knows that it has been his downfall before. He has two lifetimes of evidence as that proves that loving something is the best way to lose it. But still, no matter how hard he tries, he can't help but care. At the very least, with this heart of stone he's tried his best to create, he feels closer to that voice he doesn't know yet can't forget.
While Veritas remembers loving somebody who Cared. Remembers losing them because he didn't. Remembers calling himself a genius only to be hated and alone. And so, determined to fix his mistakes, he makes it his mission to help others, he will not, can not, rest untill he has cured the universe of its ignorance . Even if he'll never be able to care as much as the smile in his memory did.
They both cling to a memory of the person they once loved, and try to push and prod pieces of themselves into that shape. Cause they'd do anything to see their partner again, even if it's just in the mirror.
Ratio remembers more of his past life, partially due to Adventurine attempting to suppress the memories of his childhood, and partly due to Ratio still desperately trying to not repeat his mistakes. Thus when they first meet, Ratio would despise Aventurine. It feels almost like looking at one of those face swap photos, an unholy conglomeration of somebody he regrets being and the face that haunts his dreams. Blonde hair in the wrong shade, mannerisms that are almost but not quite. Still he falls in love, slowly, begrudgingly, and hating himself for it.
On the other side, what little memories Aventurine has is mostly of a grey haired scholar with a tongue as sharp as his swords. And so Adventurine sees Ratio and can't help but compare the two. They're different, undoubtedly, but it would be so easy to ignore those differences and fall. But he can't, he can't lose yet another person he loves.

Going Trick Or Treating With Kaveh
Characters: Kaveh x gn reader, Alhaitham
Genre: Fluff
Synopsis: You make Kaveh wear a red dress and go trick or treating with him!
Please enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Do I really have to be a 'pretty princess?" Kaveh let out a sigh of exasperation as he examined the crimson princess dress in your possession, questioning whether he truly had to embrace the role of a "beautiful princess." The mischievous grin on your face unsettled him, and you advanced toward him, drawing the dress nearer in a deliberate manner.
"Give it a try, Kaveh! You'd look absolutely stunning in this," you encouraged with a gentle tone, coaxing your partner to try on the dress.
Kaveh eyed you, then looked down at the dress, gagging in disgust.
"I refuse to wear such! What would it do to my name?!" He melodramatically said his complaints, increasing the tension in his body beyond its current state.
You inclined your head slightly, allowing a strand of hair to partially obscure one of your eyes. "It would certainly boost your popularity as an architect," you said with a sincere smile and a wink, intensifying Kaveh's unease.
Kaveh shook his head profoundly, backing himself to the wall.
"I have every right to refuse!"
"You mean you won't wear it, not even once?" You took a step back, putting on a fake melancholic smile. Kaveh, being rather gullible, immediately thought you were genuinely upset and extended his hand towards you in an attempt to help you feel better.
"Um..." It was clear he was grappling with the decision to embrace or reject the idea of wearing such an outfit. He didn't want to disappoint you by outright refusing, as the thought of witnessing your sorrow was something he wished to avoid at all costs.
You were completely indifferent to whether he wore it or not, because you were determined that he would. You had made a promise to yourself that he would wear that dress.
Continuing your performance, you furrowed your brow even deeper and interlocked your hands with his, deploying the most endearing puppy-dog eyes you could muster.
"Come on, Kaveh? You know how much I adore you, and you'd look even more adorable in this lovely red dress!" You complimented him with a gentle tone. "Plus, it complements your eye color!"
You knew you hit the jackpot.
Kaveh's cheeks flushed with a deep crimson, and it was almost as if heart shapes were visible in his eyes.
"...Fine then."
"Let's get moving!" You exclaimed with enthusiasm, joyfully bouncing up and down.
This made Kaveh even more flustered. "Uh! You- you owe me!"
You grinned at him, tenderly pinching his cheeks. "All right, my dear, it's time to put on the dress!"
-Later-
The vibrant conversations of the crowds, dressed in various costumes, created the atmosphere as you and Kaveh strolled hand in hand through the streets of Sumeru. It was exciting. Or at least that was what you thought. You were dressed up as the costume you desired to wear and Kaveh wore the dress you convinced him to wear! All of this, combined with trick-or-treating at the different markets in Sumeru? A major win in your opinion.
"Archons above, I can't believe I'm really going through with this," Kaveh whispered to himself, his face flushed with embarrassment, his grip on your hand tightened due to nervousness. Honestly, his cute reaction was exactly what you had hoped for, for it would provide excellent material for teasing later on.
You turned your head away from him, an attempt to hide your confident smirk, as you pulled him to a food stall.
"See that stall there?"
"Yeah…?"
"Let's ask for candy."
"Wait! That one-"
However, it was too late as you dashed toward the food stall, inadvertently pulling Kaveh along with you. Kaveh was complaining along the way, but you paid no mind to it. Why? Because Alhaitham was at the stall giving out candy.
Alhaitham wore a solemn expression as kids and people of all genders gathered around him, requesting to take photos. While the children sought candy, the adults in the crowd were definitely thinking of a different kind of candy.
"Alhaitham!" You greeted the scholar from the Sumeru Academy with a cheerful wave. The man with striking turquoise eyes lit up with recognition as he spotted you and Kaveh making your way through the crowd to approach him.
As you maneuvered through the crowd, a few people scowled at your actions, but you paid little attention to their disapproval. The moment you reached Alhaitham, he couldn't help but chuckle when he saw Kaveh.
"I see you're experimenting with a new fashion statement, Kaveh," he remarked in an ironically deadpan tone, prompting Kaveh to blush deeply.
"Y-Y/n forced me into it!" Kaveh retorted, crossing his arms and pouting, which made you chuckle. "They claimed it would suit me... And, well, I do look fine!"
Alhaitham let out a small chuckle. "Gullible, I see. However, I shouldn't say any more."
Kaveh huffed profoundly, shooting Alhaitham a small frown. "Why did you drag me here, Y/n?"
"Because I want candy!" You showed your bucket to Alhaitham, expecting him to put something in it.
"I see," he nodded, then revealed two large bars of your favorite candy inside your bucket.
You beamed at your bucket, delighted to add more candy to your growing stash. "Thanks, Alhaitham!"
"Hey! You've skipped the line! Let us through! We've been waiting to meet Alhaitham in person!" Several women in the crowd exclaimed, disrupting the conversation.
"Ah, your fanclub," you acknowledged, taking Kaveh's hand and offering a smile to Alhaitham. "We'll leave for now. I'll bring Kaveh back later. Goodbye!" With that, you departed, catching a few envious women murmuring as you walked away.
Afterward, you and Kaveh roamed around, receiving compliments on your costumes, particularly Kaveh's, from various people. It was a pleasant experience that brought joy to both of you and Kaveh.
"Look! A haunted mansion!"
"Wow, the architectural design of the building beautifully complements the Halloween decorations. I'm curious about the talented person behind this. Perhaps I could for some authentic advice from this person just in case someone asks for a specific design in a request. Who could it be? Hm…"
At the end of the trick or treating session, you and Kaveh went back home and shared candy with each other, enjoying each other 's company and the new memories you made together.

genderbent cyhaino doodles for your soul and mine <3
ID: a collection of (mostly) grayscale drawings featuring genderbent Cyno and Alhaitham from Genshin Impact, with text saying "Cyno x Alhaitham but make it sapphic (heart shape)". The drawings include: Alhaitham and Cyno, side by side, neutral-faced. A recreation of Alhaitham's "use your brain" and Cyno's "duel!" stickers. Cyno looking not-so-subtly at Alhaitham's chest while the latter is speaking to someone off screen. Cyno sitting in Alhaitham's lap, the former with her cards while the latter with a book. They're looking at each other, smiling, and there are color-coded hearts by their heads. Cyno carrying a sleeping Alhaitham on her back with a tired but fond look. An enraged Cyno with her spirit claws and bandages with a red-eyed, "corrupted" Alhaitham, their faces both partially obscured in shadow. End ID.

mind you I'm not playing genshin anymore (if childe dies I'll reconsider) and only watched some streamer play through the twins' murder case
but yeah my crackpot theory is also sort of like your "perception" argument ie the oratrice is essentially public/mob justice. because fontainiers are literally water right. and the oratrice is a scale that weighs water. you fight in court to turn the tides. there's some good irony there - the supreme law machine that the fontainiers have believed so much to the point that they feel confident in making a spectacle out of people's lives and the very concept of justice was nothing but their own biases all along, and when someone is sentenced to death it's not the all-knowing Thing but the public who's sending them to the gallows. double whammy because the pathetic archon is flailing to turn the oratrice in her favour in the court, and the oratrice is the public opinion all along, and she's also secretly just vying for people's attention and approval. see it writes itself. at least that's how I'd write it.
on that note nahida mentioned that focalors retains the right to change the final verdict and is present in all court proceedings, but it's pretty clear furina's just playing the prosecution/boo boo the fool and not the supreme judge, with neuvilette mentioning that the oratrice overrides his verdicts even when they're very much sensible (as in the case of childe). soooo focalors must partially be the oratrice (the voice lyney heard near the core?), or is the oratrice and furina's like the dumb leftovers of whatever shit focalors put themselves through. extreme crackpot: like a hivemind akasha type of thing where everyone's hooked up to focalors' mental faculties or like ei. because there's some emphasis on twins/people taking other's places in the story.
Mmmm, sometimes I love you. If Childe dies, I will also consider many things. Like another fic in his name! To solidify the tragic Greek hero. (is the power stirring within him is just abyss madness? Ajax the Great enter the scene).
because fontainiers are literally water right. and the oratrice is a scale that weighs water. you fight in court to turn the tides.
Oh, I like this! The justice is flowing on the surface of the water. Which kinda means it's very superficial.
and when someone is sentenced to death it's not the all-knowing Thing but the public who's sending them to the gallows.
I mean, the harsh and brutal realist part in me would REVEL. Imagine the implications. The human cruelty. The ignorance. The arrogance. Neuvilette isn't so wrong after all. There will be much rain in Fontaine.
The people are so enraptured with the idea of justice and the spectacle fo it all, they do not notice the very obvious fact that OPratrice isn't all-knowing or objective. After all, if it was omniscient, there would be no spectacle to begin with. And if it was objective, it would be so, so boring.
and she's also secretly just vying for people's attention and approval
First, the Oceanids reject her. Now her own people? Furina isn't having a good time.
r is the oratrice and furina's like the dumb leftovers of whatever shit focalors put themselves through.
Maybe it's not Furina. After all, she had no clue why Oratrice gave a guilty verdict and panicked. She didn't know what was happening. Maybe it's the previous Archon. After all, the Previous Hydro Archon wanted to unite all in Teyvat. And then she got corrupted. And then she died. Maybe Oratrice was her creation. A machine that contains many united minds to make verdicts. But as Alhaitham says, Human minds aren't infinitely pliable.
I mean, I would Furina to be straight-up impostor. It would be in theme with how water and hydro acts. To take shape. To take form. Hydro Eidolons and Water mimics can change shapes and take whatever form they desire. So, Furina took the form that was required of her - the Hydro Archon. She may act the part but she is not the part. Celestia is fine with it because the people of Fontaine are bound to disappear anyway.
Timewise, it makes sense for Hydro Archon to have perished right before the Khaenri'ah disaster. Since it was Rukhadevatta who saved whatever was left of Hydro Archon's consciousness. Then, Rukhadevatta dies.
Perhaps the reason Fontaine people are dead is because previous Archon committed a crime. Got corrupted. Since Celestia was too late to punish the Archon, it punished its people. Would be kinda the thing they do.
Like, I am not saying it's impossible for her to Ei herself and put a part of her mind into the Oratrice, forget about it, and develop some form of DID. But that would be so boring. We already had Akasha and Plane of Euthymia.

“How did you get here?” -@dutybcrne (Alhaitham for Lorelei!)
injured & lost meme - @dutybcrne
At some point, after the adrenaline wore off and the pain became too much to try and pinpoint or deal with via logic, Lorelei started moving more and more on instinct, on the need to find a safe place to rest. The logical side of their brain, before shutting off to make handling the pain less troublesome, knew that safety was paramount in order to even make an attempt at properly taking care of their wounds. By now, they were just focusing on their breathing. Even if the injury on their side wasn't too deep, the ringing in their ears and the pounding in their head had become...overwhelming.
Dull eyes gazed around the roads they stumbled down. It all looked familiar, but they couldn't actually figure out where they had managed to get to. All the buildings and architectural styles they knew blurred together in their mind to be just vaguely shaped buildings and street signs.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, Lorelei managed to bring their gaze to the source of the voice they heard. Blinking slowly a couple times, their attempt to step closer to Alhaitham led to them stumbling, crumpling to their knees as exhaustion seeped into their bones. "Al....Alhaitham? Where...am I?" Normally, Lorelei wouldn't be caught dead admitting to being unable to recognize where they were - especially as it had rarely been an issue for them outside of ruin. However...they could admit, if only to themself, that they weren't doing well.
They also knew that they couldn't summon their sword anymore, which meant it had actually been lost. Not that they would admit that, but it did explain - partially - the wound to their side.
Wait...he'd asked a question, hadn't he? Going through their muddled thoughts, they shook their head, gritting their teeth as pain shot down their neck. "I don't know. I just...walked." Grimacing, they held their hand to him. "Mind helping me get back home? I...need a nap." Not to mention pain medication, bandages, and a cup of tea. But the nap was first.
