I’m still recovering from Covid and angsty thoughts are the last thing I should be thinking about but I was dawned randomly by the realization of thinking about New Ryomas trauma that he wasn’t displayed having PTSD but rather C-PTSD. The difference between them is PTSD is usually caused by one big traumatic event while C-PTSD is a constant state of regular traumatic incidents.
While New Ryoma going to the future can be see as just the big incident, the trauma he faced from the event was still ongoing as he was FORCED back into the Getter, and prior he also had to deal with some stuff that while he didn’t express arguably traumatized him. (I. E. The deaths of Tatsuhito and Raiko)
But also while I may be wrong on this and someone is free to correct me as I understand PTSD but don’t know everything, the fact he was QUICK to fall into flashbacks is already seems more of a sign of C-PTSD. (This scene happens in universe at least a day after he went to the future, but also he constantly has flashbacks after this just not as extreme)

I think back when then the intention was likely just he has PTSD because I don’t know how recent the term C-PTSD is but overall: New as a whole makes me mentally fucking ill every time I fucking remember they VISUALLY SHOWED US he has PTSD of some kind and then rob him of a happy ending im gonna go cry now.

I think I'm fairly vanilla when it comes to FMA opinions, but here's some takes I think may be somewhat unpopular:
-The beginning of Brotherhood is overhated. In retrospect: I agree that the first 10 episodes are the overall weakest parts of Brotherhood, but watching it blind for the fisrt time I not only didn't dislike the "rushed" pacing, but in fact liked it - while I was enjoying myself I was dreading that the series would consist of 60+ episodes of the brothers very slowly uncovering clues about the philosopher's stone, and encountering dead ends like Liore, so seeing them make quick progress, but for the story to clearly still be going somewhere was refreshing and exciting. Also, some people suggest that the cut segments of the manga would fix the rushed pacing, and I disagree - the train part would honestly not add much, and I actually really liked how Yoki's segment was done in an extended flashback later - added to the joke that no one actually cares about Yoki. Adding them wouldn't "fix" the pacing, just make the rushed beginning last 2 episodes longer, I think.
-Miracle at Rush Valley is commonly named the weakest (or one of the weakest) episodes, but I love it. It has really good character work, and is thematically very relevant to the series as a whole, and I also enjoy the upbeat and hopeful tone of it, especially after Hughes' death (contrasting an episode about death with an episode about life was also an inspired choice). While enjoying it is probably not that hot of a take, what potentially is is that it's actually my favorite of the first 11 episodes, or at least very high up there. Also this is where the "rushed" beginning stops - it and Dublith are paced fine imo. Last thing: some people saying it's filler really bothers me - like the episode or not it 100% isn't and I will die on this hill.
-Probably the hottest take here: despite it being some of the most popular things to make - fanworks about Roy and Riza (as a ship or seperately) don't really do it for me a lot. A big reason why is probably that they tend to get mischaracterized a lot, in several ways, but the most common are: Roy getting potrayed more as an incompetent bafoon womanizer like that's his actual personality and not a front to avoid suspicion, and Riza as a 2-dimensional always competent always badass always cold babysitter (this post explains that aspect very well). Also, while I don't hate it - not the biggest fan of Roy as a father figure to the Elrics (your own recent post is actually a much better look at that relationship), and if I never see any romantic RoyEd again it will be too soon, so a lot of the fan works are not my cup of tea.
give me your hottest FMA takes (hottest fma fandom takes also accepted)
let’s not start fights but I’m bored and curious :)
