did y’all know that sometimes at cat shows if you talk to the ppl showing cats (not the judges but the people bringing the cats) they might just let you pet the kitties since getting them used to people touching and holding them is a big part of socializing them for the show environment. just something to keep in mind.

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the ask box for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! Learn to know your mutuals and followers! :)
I have actually done this one before. I THINK my top five were my husband, my daughter, my job, my town, and the Newtina fandom. I’ll come up with five more to add to it!
1. My cats. I have three. Roxanne is a sassy tortoise-shell cat that kind of looks like a raccoon. I’m completely serious, she does. She is 14 and rules the house from her spot on the top of the couch. She is too good for everyone and grumps about all day. Bat (we call him Mr. B) is a huge house panther and the biggest baby you have ever met. He is also 14 and loves bed pets, chin scratches, and cuddles. Only from my husband or me though. He hates everyone else. Then we got a kitten the week of Christmas named Eddie. Yes, he’s named for Eddie Redmayne, no my husband still doesn’t know that… He’s a little sh*t, but he’s SO DANG CUTE. We think he might be a Maine Coon because he’s huge, still has huge paws to grow into, and has the big floofy tail and the wild fur behind his ears. He kind of looks like an adorable mad scientist. He has the loudest purr I have ever heard. I like him…most of the time.
2. My family. My mom and sister are the greatest people on Earth. We are very close and have the most active and funniest group chat you have ever seen. I lost my dad to cancer 8 years ago and since then we have just grown closer. They are my people, for sure.
3. My in-laws. I have heard it over and over for so many years that your in-laws can make or break your relationship. Mine make it! I hit the jackpot. My husband’s parents are the sweetest, most generous people and have taken me in and loved me as their own from day one. They are also amazing grandparents and I am so glad they are in my daughter’s life.
4. Writing. I have also been an academic writer, so branching off into the realm of creative writing has been stressful. I still don’t feel as confident as I would like, but it’s getting better as I go. I have my master’s degree and have written a thesis, term papers, essays, blah blah blah… but fanfiction is so different. My biggest struggle is toning down my writing so it doesn’t sound like a research paper. I have finally found something that I love and that I am actually kind of good at. It’s nice to have a hobby again.
5. Music. I am a classically trained vocalist and studied music in college. I sang for years in college and community choirs, I have years of musical theater experience, and have even dabbled a bit in opera. However, I lost my singing ability due to a pretty severe case of laryngopharyngeal reflux and it will most likely never return to where it was. I have recently bought myself a piano and have pulled out my guitar to try and reintroduce music into my life. My husband and I both have a musical background (he’s a violinist) and my daughter is already showing signs of musical ability. I want to show her that hard work trumps ability, and I’m doing that by learning something brand new (mostly, haven’t played since I taught myself in college) at 32 years old. It’s been fun to sit at the piano bench and play around. I’ve been teaching myself Salamander Eyes, though it will be a while before I debut anything. haha
