went looking for the goosander today (a wild goosander chase, if you will) and while i didn't see him, i did see a flock of long-tailed ducks! while they were too far to see very well, the air was very still so i heard them calling! they might've been displaying

after went to look at the lesser scaup again! light was better so got better looks at him! got a phonescoped shot too (he's the palest duck in the foreground)

#contact call #my dad's scope was cery fogged up when we saw the long-tailed ducks so couldn't get good looks at them #however i've never heard them before!#i've had this bird soundscape book since i was a kid #and on the arctic page there was this funny noise in the background which i always wondered about #now i know it's long-tailed ducks!!#one of the most gorgeous wildfowl IMO #if you don't know them look them up. they're beautiful!!
