Imitation X (au)

Im sure that you guys have heard of theories for different shows? Not the interesting MatPat kind, the horror/bizarre ones that suck the childlike wonder from kids shows? Like the Phineas & Ferb theory or the Rugrats theory (both saying that all the kids are dead except for Candice/Angelica)? Well theres one for PPG called "the imagination theory" and my au is based off of it. (if interested keep reading but it gets long and i dont want clutter)

The imagination theory while interesting doesn't get.. explored often and just gets explained by youtubers some times? If you don't want to read all of it: the girls are normal and just play pretend superhero, the villains are all people from their lives and the Professor is their dad (duh)

I think the entire concept could be expanded on without changing the whole "normal girls thing". Enter imitation X! Basically everything happening is through the girls eyes and equate to something in the real world! Monsters are like shootings/bombings, villains are ordinary people, everything that happens is just them coping with their less than ideal lives. So i want to fit all the characters (main ones at least) into that idea as well as different episodes!

For now though lets start with the girls (this post is too long bezus)

Blossom

In Imitation X her real name is Blaine (meaning yellow.. yk how the prof gives bubbles/blossom names based off of how they act and buttercup just bc it also starts with b? yeah i kinda did that to bloss bc i wanted their named to sound similar oops)

When the girls came up with the game she was the one to make the rules which really just meant she tried her hardest to make up reason after reason for her to be special while her sisters couldn't do half the stuff she could. Eventually she just started having fun with the game and stopped being so controlling. When Buttercup/Bubbles played at first the whole thing was a mess (Butter wanting all gore and Bubbles wanting all cutesy stuff) so she came up with the girls backstory and set a middle ground for them

Shes not smarter than her sisters! I'd say shes more clever/quick to think but shes not like a super genius or anything and shes wrong pleanty. In imitation X Blossom is extremely responsible as always but she can also be selfish and throw the other girls under the bus. Out of the three of them shes the most willing to deal with their real world problems without the game and is the most tethered to reality. Which is how i think she can get away with things she herself did and blame it on buttercup or bubbles!

Buttercup

Her name is Briar (meaning thorny patch/strength or exalted one)

She loves all things superheros(in this au at least), so she was the one to come up with the game HOWEVER it was a totally gritty solo game that she wanted absolutley no one else to take part in.. until she got lonely lol. 1 punching all your villians with no plot gets boring quick. Eventually she asked bubbles to draw her superhero for her (her supersona??) and bubbles wanted to play bc it looked cool. Ofc Buttercup put her through different trials to let her join,, and even then Bubbles became her sidekick at first (which led to squables)

Shes willing to deviate from their game to hang out with her friends who think its lame or whatnot (did i mention theyve been playing since they were five up until theyre 12?) She made the whole game as an escape from the real world so its pretty easy for her to get back into it after a while. Buttercup isn't a hot head in imitation X! She gets angered/annoyed easily but instead of blowing up she. freezes? up? She'll stop talking when shes been angered and isolate herself! Which is why Buttercup (in game) is so violent! Real world Butters cant express herself the way she wants so she uses the game as an outlet. Shes very defensive of her sisters (for reasons that will be revealed later) but at the same time shes very ready to abandon them when they get on her nerves. And i mean abandon, she will leave the house for days!

Bubbles

Last but not least (shes my beloved guys i just never mention it) Blair! (meaning dweller on the plains and is meant to invoke images of meadows/fields.. shes the main character if you didnt notice /j)

When Buttercup told her to draw for her she fell inlove with the idea of being a superhero and was willing to do all the trials and whatnot just to play. She ofc loved being a powerpuff and made the strongest connection with the game.She did get tired of being a sidekick though bc she got to make almost no choices so she came up with monsters and played as them until she got tired of it and started to argue with buttercup about the whole thing. Yeah it def took time for her to become a real superhero duo w/ Butters but when it happened she'd never been happier

Bubbles constantly sees things through the game. No shes not crazy she knows its not happening but she almost never stops pretending. It took a long few years before Blossom got her to stop at school (for the most part). Bubbles goes through the most in the au and therefore she likes to actively cope. Its extremely hard for her to snap into reality and when she does shes really not herself, very muted and disgruntled. It takes her a surprisingly long time to start coping again as well, awareness throws her for a loop and she will make a fuss of it. Shes more of a crybaby and is easily scared in the real world (she tries not to cry in front of others though ofc) people like her but she'd rather stay to herself than be around other people. Bubbles in the game is far more sassy than she is because she wished she did speak her mind and do whatever makes her happy whenever she felt like.

Our boi Perry

Why I like them: he's the epitome of my favorite character stereotype; snarky, with an absolute heart of gold. Loves his kids so damn much

Why I don't like them: I genuinely don't think there's anything I dislike about him.

Favorite episode: Where's Perry (Both Parts). I just fucking love when the show writers remember that yeah, Perry actually loves his kids and loves being with them. The fact that he carries a photo of the boys around in his hat KILLS me. He's just so soft in this episode, but we also see his prime agent skills. Runner up is Sidetracked.

Favorite season/movie: I think I like him most in season 3. That's where the bulk of his personality really started to shine.

Favorite line: He's a platypus, he doesn't talk (but the part where he mocks Candace after she tosses him out of the house in Oh There You Are Perry) (or the part where Monogram is giving him an assignment but he's just. Fucking doodling Monogram in his notepad) (oh also the little tiny smile he gives Phineas and Ferb in CATU after he's saved them all from the asteroid field)

Favorite outfit: Whatever he had going on in Vannessassary Roughness

Brotp: This is evident if you read my fics, but Perry and Candace. I wish they had gotten more interaction in the show. Runner up is ofc Perry and Pinky (Perry and the boys is too easy, had to pick the alternatives here)

Headcanon: Again, if you read my fics, this one's obvious, but I hc that he is Pinky's emergency contact and vice versa, and they look out for each other's kids when one of them has to leave for an extended period of time. Secondary hc (that's not technically a hc cause it's confirmed) is that he's aro/ace

first off, ojiro loves you w his whole heart and would do almost anything for you.

so when you ask him to go to the build-a-bear workshop he doesn’t hesitate to say yes.

so you get there and decide to make bears that look like y’all.

so he picks out a blond bear with a karate outfit on and calls it a day while you make a (your skin color) bear and dress it up in your hero costume.

‘til this day, you can see your mini-you bear on his dresser.

i feel like he only lets you cut his tail’s hair bc he trusts you the most

one time denki offered to cut it and he almost went bald💀

said all that to say that ojiro only lets denki play with his tail and not let denki have any sharp equipment near him

one day you ask him to give you a piggy-back ride to the dorms after class bc you had stayed up to study the night before and were hella tired by the end of the school day

and ofc like a perfect human being, he carried you all the way to the Heights Alliance (when his arms got a bit tired, his tail would hold your body to his back)

he loves to paint his nails w you. he only paints his black and/or purple to stay profesional w school and becoming a hero but if you beg him to do any other colors to match w you he’d appease you

1. spongebob squarepants: i dont think im allowed put anything else in the #1 spot while spongebob exists. its just insane to me how i grew up with it, have it basically ingrained in my brain, and yet it still doesnt get old (ofc im talking about the first three seasons but, the middle seasons still have their gems that stuck with me too). excellent humor characters style etc etc etc its spongebob

2. ok k.o.: let’s be heroes!: i admit this show isnt perfect, and they definitely wouldve benefitted from having more time to flesh out their story :(, but ok ko is like my favorite cartoon bc its so inspiring to me. it is so perfectly funny and engaging, and its the first show ive seen that feels like it was made by people like me...? like. it feels like it was made by young adults who grew up on tumblr like me and my friends and i mean that in the best way possible. the humor and the references/tropes just hit so well, and it reminds me of why ive always wanted to be a storyboard artist!

3. wordgirl: ppl who dont know me as well may be like “wtf why are you putting a pbs show on here” but yall gotta trust me wordgirl is SO good. i watched it about four years ago now and i still actively love it, it is SOOO funny and their cast is AMAZING. the characters are shockingly good. give it a shot

4. big city greens: this is the only show that im really keeping up with right now and i LOVE it!!! like i said about ok ko, the humor works really well with me, better than other shows ive seen that are on rn. super funny, love the characters, its really a comfort to me!

5. phineas and ferb/milo murphy’s law: lol im counting them as one. i have some complaints for both of these shows bc i think they made some weird choices at times or ignored character development or blah blah blah, but overall its BONKERS how much space they take up in my mind. i think sometimes their attempts at bigger stories kinda fall flat, but man when they hit they HIT. the characters all have so much heart. and of course the music is fantastic

see and nobody even knows y/n likes colt, INCLUDING y/n! like cordelia sees nothing wrong with it because as far as she knows nobody else is into him. and ofc colt loves y/n but to him, she’s either dead or she’s chosen friedrich, both of which means that he’s clear to be with cordelia. plus he was already considering being with cordelia before and y/n didn’t really object so he thought he had her approval 🤷🏽‍♀️ neither of them really have bad intentions it’s just a weird situation where everyone’s going to end up just. except for friedrich he’s just chilling 😭 he definitely knows everything and is watching it play out like a reality tv show 😩 because on the one hand he loves y/n but on the other he’s made his peace with just being whatever she needs from him and the entire situation is so funny to him that he doesn’t even care

y/n has def changed and will continue to do so which sucks but at the same time i feel like it makes sense?? she’s growing up in a war and trading her childhood to be a soldier which will negatively impact her a ton. but i agree it sucks to see her like this esp because we’ve seen how she was when things were good and she was happy 💔

atlantica is an over-achiever, mostly because she had to work her hardest to get anything good in her life

she and pacifica are actually really close because they learned how to be independent and stable together and pacifica treats her wAY better than her parents ever did

speaking of them, grandparents who?? atlantica wants nothing to do with them after the Bell Incident™

she is very responsible and all about using her time productively, which apparently doesn’t include searching for strange things in the forest, but she always gets roped into it anyway

it’s easy to tell when she’s frustrated and she’s often frowning when she concentrates, she hates people interrupting her

she’s a really good public speaker and is definitely part of the student council

I love you guys… all of you… Every. Single. One. (Yes, even you, pornbots [you creepers]). The only reason I joined this site was to get deeper into the fandoms. Because, you know, fandom=life (that’s how it works, right??).

Anyhoo, I know there’s a lot of challenges going on right now, but I thought, “Hey, why not just add another to the pile?”  So here ya’ll go, another writing challenge.

I enjoy quoting things.

Music is my thang.

So with this challenge, it’s going to be a mash up of two categories… Quotes and Playlists (Kinda boring, but hey. Never said I wasn’t mediocre).

Since my blog is multi-fandom, this challenge is for ALL THE FANDOMS.

THE RULES

1.It would be nice if you were a follower, but no pressure.

2. Send me an ASK with your choices off Anon to enter.

3. Pick your character from a fandom, then choose a quote and a playlist. SEND BACK UP QUOTE IN CASE THE ONE YOU WANT IS ALREADY TAKEN.

4. I’ll put the chosen playlist on random and give you a song (don’t worry, you’ll be able to find them on YouTube).

5. There’s no end date for signups, but fics are due MAY 29th, which gives you not quite three months to get it done. No worries if you can’t, I understand. Just shoot me an Ask or PM and we can work something out.

“It Took Me By Surprise” by Maria Mena

I’m super super tempted to plan and type out every single line and action and in-between parts for this one, but that would take forever and I’d never post this, so we’re gonna summarize!

First verse: The other light sides doing something or another to talk over Logan, and him continuing to try in vain to be heard. Likely in the order of Roman, Virgil, Patton, then Logan getting desperate.

First chorus: The process of Logan shattering the other three.

Second verse: Deceit helping fix Roman. Deceit conflicted about changing, Roman being wary, Roman opening up, Deceit avoiding Roman bc he’s afraid of falling in love, and them leaving to get Patton.

Second chorus: Deceit and Roman helping Patton. Patton being wary of Deceit in particular, and then being okay with him, and then finding Roman’s note.

Third chorus: The process of getting everyone free from the dungeon. Deceit tricking the mouth, Roman and Remus making up, Patton doing that power thing during the fight. The end part instrumental part is a shot of them looking towards the light sides place, like that dramatic end of episode shot if you know what I mean.

I don’t have this one planned out like I do for the other, because funny/borderline shitpost-y projects are more different funny ideas than fully planned, scripted things. And this is in no way supposed to follow canon events, it’s just a funny scenario.

But just. Just imagine. 

Remus as Doof and MM as Roman, locked up in the dungeon thing.

Logan as Carl, having locked them up.

That little back and forth at the beginning

but either way he just rips off the old one and reveals the exact same outfit but with a leather jacket and sunglasses that somehow were’t there before

remus is having the time of his fucking life, just singing and dancing along

he can probably get out bc its his realm but no this is so much more entertaining

i want that little scenario about parking the car wherever to be literally acted out

idk how but i’m thinking like a movie set where just the one area he’s in suddenly has the scene of a parking lot and a car 

he just hops in and parks in that little space next to the disability spaces you know with the lines?

and then flips off either the twins or some fake cop from the imagination

remus has something to do with all this and logan’s too into it to notice

‘tell em all about it girls!’ little mouths or something come down from the ceiling and sing that little bridge

and then they’re just waggling along in some weird dance-ish thing

idk about you but this mental image is amazing to me

(also tagging @amintyworld​ bc it was your idea to use this for dark side!logan. and i know i said i’d do something with it but animatics have been hard lately, and it feels unfair to just leave you hanging. so at least here’s what i’d do if/when i get to it!)

and every one of them is just the speaker doing a bunch of dramatic and ridiculous jump cuts

i don’t think there’s much more to be said here

Ready as I’ll Ever Be from Tangled The Series

i just remembered i had this one in my notes whoops

i dont have time to plan it all out so heres my overall ideas

logan’s varian, obviously

patton’s the one he’s got captured

deceit’s cassandra

roman’s the unsure one

remus is the one who reassures him

in assigning the characters i guess this is set when they’re trying to save patton

when patton’s trying to convince logan ‘hey can you not’ i’m thinking its when logan/rage is preparing to take his essence, and ‘please listen’ is all he can manage before he’s out

deceit’s rallying himself and roman before going in probably. ig to make sense of remus also being there there’s like a timeskip when he says ‘are you ready?’, maybe like him saying that to roman then fading to it being a similar scenario with both twins that time??

then the twins have their exchange

i think all the little motives are more like thoughts, showing them Determined™ but not talking

and then the last line is rage talking through logan

and there you have it! all the ideas for this fic that i’ll either never do or eventually do. who knows? not me lol
