I'd like to think that Jude is still quite protective of Cardan after QoN, because somewhere along the way her instinct is always looping back to protecting him; I'm guessing out of duty as his seneschal, her wanting to protect Cardan for Oak, and I suppose a mix of 'don't hurt this person i care about'ism.
