When google maps hounds me like "you're in the top 10% of reviewers! Please review more!" All that tells me is that 99% of users probably literally do not review anything ever under any circumstances. I do not have a lot of reviews, the average is just spectacularly low.

“To standing up for yourself!” Francesca and Sienna clinked their beer bottles and each took a healthy gulp before setting them back on the bar.
Francesca turned and surveyed the Sunday night crowd at Donahue’s, it was only slightly busy. Old school hip hop played while a few patrons danced. Most were at tables littered with various drinks and engrossed in animated conversations with their friends and/or colleagues.
She swiveled back on her barstool to Sienna who gave her a knowing smile. “It felt good didn’t it?”
Francesca grinned widely, “It felt soooo good! Almost as good as Baz & June coming to my defense on the way over to the Bloom Estate. Ethan’s been treating me like crap for weeks and it was nice to know that others noticed it too.”
Sienna nodded, “I’m not gonna say I told you so but…”
Francesca playfully pushed her, “Shut up.” She took another sip, “What did Ethan even say to you when he showed up yesterday morning?”
Sienna shrugged, “Nothing really. He looked pissed and it was obvious he was there to see you so beyond ‘hello’, there wasn’t much to say.”
Francesca toyed with her beer bottle, “It probably kills him that you know about us.”
Sienna took a sip, “Well that’s his deal not mine. You guys are both adults, I’m just tired of waiting for the man to come to his senses. It’s like watching Elijah and Phoebe all over again.”
Francesca groaned and chewed on her bottom lip before looking back up, “Hey, speaking of Elijah…”
Sienna held up her hand, “Jackie already told me and you guys should just drop it. You gave him your advice and now it’s up to him. We’re all going to deal with our interns the way we see fit and that just is not going to look the same for everybody.”
Francesca scowled, “Sothy can’t even do a basic blood draw, that’s not acceptable.”
Sienna grew sullen, “We all have our individual challenges to overcome.”
Taken aback at the sudden shift, Francesca studied her friend closely. The week before she had commended Sienna when she triumphantly shimmied into a pair of jeans from college, but now she realized that she was starting to look too thin, almost gaunt with darkening bags around her eyes. She touched her arm, “Hey, so many of these conversations are about me and my dumbass issues. But are you okay? You’ve been so tired lately and you’re still losing weight…”
Almost on cue, Sienna turned to her, her face instantly brightening, “No silly, I’m fine, I’m great. You brought me out for a celebratory drink so let’s celebrate!”
Francesca sighed and gently squeezed Sienna’s arm, “Listen, you know you can talk to me about anything without judgment right? I’m your friend and I’m here to help you through whatever. This doesn’t always have to be about me and I’m so sorry if it has been totally one-sided as of late.”
Sienna smiled, “Francesca I love our convos, and I love helping you, and I know I can come to you, and I promise, I’m fine. A-okay.” She patted Francesca’s hand reassuringly.
They sat in silence for a few moments before Sienna reached for her phone. “Hey, I haven’t checked Pictogram in like forever. Did it work? Did Dr. Ramsey like that photo you posted a few days ago? Oh my God, I can’t believe I forgot all about it.”
Francesca smiled smugly as Sienna unlocked her phone. Yes, Ethan had liked her photo. It was a stunner, one she had taken the Summer before she started at Edenbrook. Surprisingly, the whole thing had actually been Jackie’s idea…
***
“So hell hath frozen over and Ethan Ramsey has a Pictogram account!”
Francesca was sitting on the floor in their living room, her back against the couch with her laptop in her lap. Sienna was above her, sitting horizontally across the couch in the same position. She peered over Francesca’s shoulder, “Oh my god, you got him to post a half-naked photo of himself?!”
Jackie walked into the living room with her tablet, “Who’s half-naked?”
Sienna and Francesca both froze for a second before Francesca answered. “Uh, Dr. Ramsey. I helped him create a Pictogram account so he could search Gwyneth’s product history. His profile photo is from when he ran a triathlon so he’s in swim shorts. He only allowed me to use it because he figured nobody would ever see it.”
Jackie sat down and leaned over Francesca to view the image, she raised her eyebrows, “Wow! Who knew he was hiding that six pack under his lab coat? Damn Francesca, I’m finally starting to see why you’re so into the guy.”
Jackie’s eyes met Francesca’s astonished gaze, she chuckled, “You really don’t think I’m that stupid do you?”
Francesca’s face reddened, “Please don’t tell me it’s that obvious?”
Jackie thought for a second, “Nah, I honestly think I may be the only one who’s caught on, besides Sienna of course. I mean, we live with you. I’m sure you’re fine at Edenbrook, I’ve never heard any rumors.”
Sienna nodded, “Francesca, you know I’d tell you if I ever heard anything. I mean some people are still jealous of your rapport with Dr. Ramsey but they all attribute it to your top intern spot and Banjeri save.”
Jackie shrugged and she typed on her tablet, “Accurate.”
Francesca visibly relaxed, “Okay well, I can live with that. Anyway, I was just telling Sienna that he has an account now and I think it’s kind of hilarious. I mean, he kept it private and I’m his only friend.”
Francesca suddenly turned to her friends, her voice earnest,”You guys cannot tell anyone about this account or picture. He’ll know immediately that it came from me. Promise you won’t tell.”
Sienna put her hand on Francesca’s shoulder, “I promise. You already know we can keep secrets hon.”
Jackie gave Francesca a mischievous smile, “Same, but only on one condition.”
Francesca paled, “Oh god, what?”
Jackie turned her screen around where she had pulled up Francesca’s Pictogram account, “You set a thirst trap.”
Sienna frowned, “What’s that?”
“No, no, no, no.” Francesca vehemently shook her head.
Jackie turned to Sienna, still smiling broadly, “It’s a sexy photo that you post to make your followers thirsty. In this case, to make one specific follower thirsty.”
“No, it’s obvious and desperate and…” the panic in Francesca’s voice started to mount.
Sienna cut her off, “I like it. Where do we find a photo?”
“Wait Sienna, what? No!” Francesca looked at them both incredulously, “How pathetic does that make me look? Less than two weeks after Ethan becomes my PG friend, I post some random, sexy photo? Come on, even he could see through that one.”
Jackie shrugged, “I’d say you’ve waited too damn long as it is!”
Francesca was at a loss for words as she stared down her two friends. She slowly realized that she had no choice if she wanted to keep Ethan’s account under dibs and sagged against the couch in defeat, “Fine. But only because I know you won’t find a photo worth posting anyway.”
Undeterred, Jackie opened a new browser window, “What photo storage account do you use and what’s the password?”
Francesca gave her the details as she stood up, “I can’t believe this is happening, I need a drink. I’ll be right back.”
Her friends didn’t even acknowledge her exit as they started scrolling through the hundreds of photos on her Google account.
Several minutes she returned to their flabbergasted faces. “What? What’s wrong?”
Jackie turned her tablet around and Francesca’s eyes went wide. “Holy shit! I forgot all about that photo.”
Jackie shook her head in awe, “I didn’t even think you had it in you.”
Sienna giggled, “That my dears, is a bona-fide thirst trap.”
Francesca sat down and marveled at the photo, “I took that in Cancun after graduating from med school. I went with a group of friends and it was the perfect day on the beach, so we decided to be silly and take photos in our favorite “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition” poses.”
Her mind started to change as she contemplated Ethan’s reaction to the photograph. “Hmmmm, I do look kinda hot huh?”
Jackie raised an eyebrow, “Kinda? No red-blooded, hetero man will be able to resist the allure, the pure sex of this picture. Dr. Ramsey among them.”
Francesca took a deep breath, “Post it.”
***
Sienna scrolled through the likes and comments, “Wow, is this the most popular post on your account?”
Francesca laughed, “I believe so. Even the friend who took it wanted me to tag her for credit.”
Sienna grinned as she came across Ethan’s red heart, “There it is.”
Francesca smirked, “Yup.” she leaned in, “And let me tell you the most infuriating part. I kept checking my phone to see if he had liked the photo. Nothing for two days. So, the next night I was up really late studying. I didn’t go to sleep until just after 1am, and I checked my phone before I dozed off, nothing. I woke up like three hours later to pee and guess who had liked my photo?”
Sienna’s eyes went wide, “Wait, in the middle of the night? He was on your account in the middle of the night!”
Francesca nodded, “And, and this was after the whole Gwyneth/Board thing. So at the same time he’s giving me the cold shoulder at work, he’s lurking on my account at home.”
Sienna shook her head in disbelief, “That man is so confused.”
Francesca rolled her eyes, “Whatever. That’s why I stripped down in front of him yesterday.”
“What?!” Sienna’s mouth hung open.
Finishing the last of her beer, Francesca smiled, “I needed to kick him off his hypocritical high horse. So, after he barged into my room telling me I had three minutes to get ready on my day off, I called his bluff. I literally took off my underwear right in front of him. I mean, I turned my back to him but still, the look on his face was fucking priceless.”
Sienna turned to Francesca, put hands on her shoulders, and met her eyes, “You are officially my hero.”
Francesca smiled, “Well, that deserves another round.” She motioned to the bartender.
“Plus, I’m sure we’ll only be celebrating this victory tonight. Who knows how he’ll act towards me at work tomorrow, especially now that we’re in this absurd competition with Mass Kenmore.”
Sienna exhaled, “Yeah, you and Aurora going to be okay? I cannot take a repeat of the Landry experience.”
Francesca nodded, “I swear to you that we’ll be fine, We talked it out, made a pinky promise and everything. I’m more worried about Ethan and Tobias.”
Sienna frowned, “Aurora’s new boss?”
“Yeah, apparently he and Ethan have some bad blood,” Francesca shrugged, “I have no idea what it is about though.”
Sienna thanked the bartender as he placed fresh drinks in front of them and reached for hers, “Well that’s a good thing right? Now, he has somewhere else to direct his anger.”
Francesca thought for a moment, “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Cheers to that!”
Sienna clinked her glass, “Hun, how many times do I have to tell you…I’m always right!”

Can you reflect on your experience as a popular bts tumblr blog? Maybe describe how it felt when you were at your peak in a fandom that was stanning a group that was beginning to dominate kpop vs how it feels now to still be present (and still fairly popular I assume! ) in the tumblr sphere of the fandom post bts blowup? Also what do you miss most from your early days on here? And what are you most grateful for now?
oh wow this is such a fun question djgndskgn ummm okay well
I looooooved being on tumblr, it was an escape from my reality and pressures of school and life. before this blog “blew up?” it was so fun and relaxing. I met soooo many amazing people, a lot of which I’m still currently friends with outside of tumblr/have visited/travelled the world with/stayed with/ have stayed with me, etc. it was incredible, it was such a nice welcoming community, I was able to just be myself, talk to fellow fans, create content, act dumb, joke around, meme, talk about serious things, have in depth discussions about so many things bts and non bts related. especially with being a blog for one of the least ‘liked’ or stanned members, it really meant that everyone who was following me was a namjoon stan and wanted nothing more than to just talk about him, it was like a tight knit community within a huge community. it was so crazy and so exciting to see the fandom grow with every comeback. that was my favourite time during entire time with this blog on tumblr. that was my favourite part. people who spoke to me were genuine and kind, they wanted to get to know me, the person behind the blog and also just treated me like a human lol which definitely changed drastically
then this blog really started to get a loooottt of traction, and as soon as I hit 10k, things really changed and it was never the same. as this blog continued to grow bigger and bigger, things became increasingly intense, and INCREDIBLY negative and just super stressful. as the followers continued to grow, the less people viewed me as an actual human who was doing things on here during my incredibly limited free time as my own escape and ‘fun’ time, and the more they treated me like, straight garbage? lol I was constantly being picked apart, everything I said was scrutinized, things I would say would always, without fail get twisted and people with do whatever they can to get whatever negative narrative they wanted. I remember me once saying it was none of our business to discuss the members sexuality and that we shouldn’t just assume their sexuality and to leave them be, somehow turned into me ‘pushing a straight agenda’??? and I was literally just dragged. which still to this day I still don’t understand how people somehow decided to take that out of what I said. I was always happy to speak to everyone and help anyone with any question they had but at one point, despite me still trying my best, I was treated really poorly and like a literal like machine. if I missed something, or didn’t post something my inbox was always full of people yelling at me that this was my job and my job was to make things and keep the entire fandom updated with what’s going on. I also fully remember missing namjoons solo comeback because I was at work, and couldn’t be present to gif and make content, I got a shittttt load of asks telling me I was a horrible namjoon fan who doesn’t support him and stuff? like lol okay? what? or I would get yelled at if I didn’t respond to asks in a timely manner, because that was once again ‘my job’. my inbox also became google apparently. I would get hundreds of asks a day, with not a single person talking to me, and if I didn’t respond to those asks, I would get yelled at. I never really spoke about how many followers I had because tbh it didn’t really matter, I actually would often wish I was back to being a 5k blog and just having a good old time, I would get horrible asks about me being a bitch because this blog was ‘popular’ and that because it was, I was a horrible person?? or to just shut up because no one cares about me, or that I thought highly of myself because this was a ‘big blog’ which I still don’t understand, because I never acted differently throughout the years on this blog. I was always just myself. if anything I just became more closed off and learned to not bother speaking about myself/things going on in my life because I felt like people would be happier if I just did my ‘job’ even though this blog, was always just a personal blog that had a loooott of bts content, I was not like a dedicated bts blog. oh and I remember because I always was and still am a very blunt straight forward person, I would just speak whatever is on my mind, people would always misconstrue that as me being mean or rude. but anyway, I digress
I remember becoming incredibly scared to post, to say things, to do things because I was scared of continuously being attacked. I was scared to open my inbox, or my messages. like tbh even writing this I’m thinking “omg what if I don’t word something perfectly and people will get mad at me.” it’s honestly such a weird feeling to feel like you have to constantly edit yourself but also still trying to be yourself? idk how to explain it
but as much as I would crack and let all this shit get to me at times and publicly get upset, hurt or mad, I would also keep a lot of it to myself and just deal with the toxicity on my own, and just delete a lot of the messages or asks I got. because to me this blog was an escape, not just for me, but for everyone who followed me. I didn’t want people to come here and just see the negative shit constantly, I wanted them to continue to come here, have fun, and forget about whatever was going on in their lives, even if it was for just a few minutes. so even though that was no longer the case for me, I still wanted that for others. but it also got to the point that I was scared to turn off anon because I was scared of the potential backlash, but I also wanted those who wanted to be anonymous, who were not comfortable talking to me off anon to have that comfort in the anonymity etc. things just were really difficult, I always felt like what I was doing was wrong no matter what.
it also was very disheartening to notice a lot of other people only wanting to befriend me or interact with me because of the size of this blog. it kinda made it hard to become close to people after a while. people would make assumptions about me or literally hated me without even talking to me just because of the size of this blog.
there were so many times I wanted to delete this blog and make a new blog where no one knew who I was, just so I can start off fresh and relive the best parts of blogging in the first place. just have fun again. but I also didn’t find it fair to those who followed me, who relied on this blog for some sort of comfort. nor did I find it fair for me to lose something I worked hard on, and loved
but on the other hand, there were SO MANY incredible people that followed me that made everything feel worth it. and I am so incredibly thankful and grateful for each and everyone of you. some of you really helped me when I was having some of the hardest times. some of the messages I would get had such a positive impact on me and my life. and like I mentioned before, I have met some amazing friends because of this site that are still some of my closest friends to this day. and for that, I will always be beyond thankful.
unfortunately I can’t say much about what has really happened on tumblr in the last like almost 2 years? I haven’t been around much and definitely would not consider this blog very if at all relevant haha in like mid? 2018 I kinda vanished from this site. I had a looooot of things going on in my personal life, like an insane amount of very complex, dark, hard, just straight up depressing things going on, and I was not able to deal with all of that, and the darkness of this blog so I left. I never meant for it to be as long as it has been, but it kinda just happened. like tbh part of me would love to kinda just open up about everything, though I did post a little something vaguely explaining what was going on with me. I know it didn’t make sense but I also wouldn’t even know where to start when it comes to explaining what has been going on. I also know because of what has happened with me, I was a real shitty person to some people on here. I also feel terrible that I had over 100 messages I never got around to answering during this time, and the 600+ asks I have sitting in my inbox right now. I know I let a lot of people down. but I also would like to say thank you to everyone and anyone who tried to reach out to me or giving me their best wishes during that time despite me not responding to most of you. please know I read every single thing that was sent to me, thank you
like part of me wishes I never left, but I know I wouldn’t have been able to do both, I was barely able to even survive what is going on in my personal life. I really miss this blog, I miss making things, I miss interacting with people, I miss fangirling, I miss so many things about this blog. despite everything, I would not take any of it back. having this blog was such a fun and unique experience, for the most part at least.
some unique ass moments like the fact I made a goupchat for namjoon stans to have fun and interact with each other and befriend each other in a more accessible and less intimidating way than over tumblr and I think at the peak there was 300+ people in that chat. and that chat is I believe 3 years old and is still active to this day. or that I somehow was in talks with a lot of namjoon fansites and actually worked closely with a namjoon fansite working on things. or people recognizing me in public which I still find wild, meeting some of you at the concerts and hanging out. or being able to befriend people with the same interests as me, becoming close friends and travelling together/visiting each other, etc. or the fact that I was able to help some of you though out some dark or difficult times, or opening up to me with things you’d not feel comfortable talking to with anyone else. or being told I was the inspiration for some of you to do so many things, like going back to school, changing majors, seeking help, loving yourself, etc. or getting sent fan art of myself???? that was crazy! there are so many more things I could say, but this post is already so long, and I doubt anyone is even still reading haha. but I never thought things like that would have happened to me ever, but it did, and I will be forever so thankful to all of you. thank you, and thank you to everyone who was there or me during the ups and downs. I know I wasn’t always the greatest friend I could have been, thank you for accepting me for who I was, thank you for being there when I needed an escape, thank you for everything.
this whole post is probably so poorly written, but esdljgknx I tried, I know I’m leaving out soooooooooo many things that I could have said or should have said, but this is already sooooo long holy. plus I have to get back to working on my stuff, the reason I came out to this coffee shop I’m sitting at right now haha

Hello shipmate! Travelling flutist here! I assume tumblr decided not to show my previous asks, so boo :/ I talked about my cat so it obviously prefers dogs or what! I need to travel to Greece because I studied ancient greek and latin at my high school and I want to see what that all was about! Any non crowded places? Also I hope you are alright and I wish you 2018 full of happiness, singing and travelling (and hopefully some great Hook/KnightRook stuff) Lots of Christmas love! I love your blog!
:D :D :D :D
Nope, Tumblr didn’t eat it. I was just too lazy busy and wanted to give it some thought and then totally forgot about it, I’m so sorry!
Previous asks, though? I only have this one.
I’m just gonna answer them both now, under a cut because wow long and pics :)
Soooo most popular ancient places are crowded... I mean, Acropolis and its museum in Athens, Knossos in Crete, the Ancient Stadium of Olympia (I think?)... though the times I’ve visited Acropolis and Knossos, they weren’t terribly crowded. I waited for a few minutes in the queue to enter Knossos, but from what I remember once I went in it was okay, and I also hate too crowded places.
Athens is a bit chaotic with population, but I think the transportation is good for central and “important” places, even though it may be a little crowded. You can even put your destination on Google maps and you’ll find suggestions on which buses and subway lines to use for almost anywhere you want to go.
Again, I’m saying this from the perspective of someone who literally grew up visiting archaelogical museums and places and now is sick and tired of them, but I think that Acropolis and its museum, along with the whole surrounding place (Plaka) would be a great destination. The museum is brand-new, very informative, great looking inside and outside and fully air-conditioned (important!).
In Athens there are also subway stations where they have small exhibitions of ancient stuff they found while digging for the subway. One of them is Syntagma, the most central one. Reaching Acropolis and the museum is very easy if you take the subway to there.
Plus they’ll all be in Athens, the capital city, so you’ll get the most tourist info possible for any place in Greece and the most locals who speak English.
It’s so weird for me to see non-native Greek speakers know Ancient Greek! I mean, it’s a language I myself gave up after three or four years of school (when we started irregular verbs... God why must this be a thing in every damn language), and my mother tongue is Greek. So I can’t imagine how hard it must be for all of you, to get used to all these vocabulary and alphabet and grammar rules.
However there will definitely be a lot of selfie people, mostly tourists. I’m not sure you can avoid those easily, especially if we’re talking about “important” ancient stuff. If you avoid high tourist season (mid-summer) you’ll avoid some tourists - and most of the heat! Sea-level places in Greece during summer are pretty much insufferable, especially for a city with so little green and so many cars as Athens is.
Then there’s Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece. I personally like it better than Athens, it looks much more beautiful and taken care of than Athens looks like.
That’s Aristotelous square, the most central square in the city.
There’s also the famous “Arch of Galerius” (everyone just calls it Kamara, they’ll all know to guide you to it)
and an ancient church called Rotonda which I think you can visit normally? @jollysailorswan is from there, perhaps you can enlighten us? :P
Public transport in Thessaloniki though is not as “peaceful” as in Athens... the buses are convenient and can take you pretty much everywhere, but they are ridiculously crowded and there’s no subway. They’re pretty cheap, though. Any transport in Athens costs about 1.40 euro (one ticket, valid to anywhere for 90 minutes) and in Thessaloniki a single ride to anywhere costs about 1 euro.
Note that both Athens and Thessaloniki are very crowded and also full of people who want to be heard no matter what... which unfortunately means there’s a possibility you’ll get stuff like this
if not angry (and even sometimes pretty violent) marches around the city. Ermou Street in the center of Athens is one usually to fall victim to such attacks. Also strikes for local buses can be a problem. Not an everyday thing, but just a heads-up.
Now I can’t really think of places that won’t be crowded... there’s Santorini with the typical Cycladic architecture and mostly rock instead of long green fields.
Though that’s the same in most islands of the Cyclades... Mykonos (known for being LGBTQ friendly, btw) and Ios are very loud and full of bars and nightclubs, for sure, if you want to avoid those... but Santorini would be also worth it for a trek up its volcano, if you’re up for it! It also has a museum.
That picture on the left was on the front of our history book in 4th grade :)
And of course, the windmills that are the “trademark” of Cyclades, along with the white-blue architecture.
You can reach it either by plane or by ship (about 5 hours or so) from Athens.
I’m trying to remember about places I’ve been in... Nafplio is nice too. It was the first capital city before it got changed to Athens, and it’s only about two hours by bus from Athens.
It has a beautiful old town and the Palamidi fortress that once served as a prison for one of the most renowned rebels of the Greek Revolutionary war (it’s history’s favourite subject here and I know a shit ton about it and everyone talks about it like it’s the best thing that ever happened, don’t judge). You’ll also see the whole Nafplio from above there!
The ancient theatre of Epidaurus is also close by.
Mycenae too.
Halfway from Athens to there is the Isthmus of Corinthos, I’m honestly not sure what there is to see but there’s the bridge connecting the two big parts of Greece and the opportunity to go bungee jumping, if you’re into it.
Then there’s Monemvasia, about 4 hours from Athens...
You can also visit the Meteora monasteries with a bus from the town below, Kalampaka.
Also a look of those mountains with your own eyes from Kalampaka is a pretty nice sight.
Kalampaka is the only place mentioned here you can also reach by train(highly recommended since it usually costs half the bus’s fare and it’s way more comfortable, with WC and a bar and the ability to walk and stretch your feet) from Athens (about 6 hours) or Thessaloniki (about 4 hours). We always drive by this town when I take the bus back to my hometown, but I always stare at those mountains. They never cease to catch my attention :)
Of course, there’s also Preveza.
It’s a little town with its fair share of nightclubs and quiet places, lots of souvenir shops and a beautiful old town to walk through. It has some great beaches close by (Kyani Akti is one) and an old fortress called Pantokratoras, that sometimes hosts concerts and stuff...
There’s also Nikopolis, and ancient town and theatre, but I don’t remember if there’s also a museum open nowadays.
I’m very biased with this town because I have relatives there, and I used to go every summer and they had a car so transportation wasn’t a thing. I don’t think I remember seeing public trasport buses there... But it’s a relatively quiet (and cheap, excluding the bus fare to go there from Athens or Thessaloniki) place.
I mean, I wish I had the money to visit all those places above on my own. Sometimes I think what a pity it is, that simple places like Preveza can be so nice to visit and see some of the everyday life of Greek people, but it can also be hard to reach for tourists - you have to take this bus, and it’ll cost a lot, and there’s no guarantee people will speak English.
If you’d ask me for something specific that won’t cost too much, I’d recommend you visit Athens (even for one day) for Acropolis and the museum, and then take a bus to Nafplio. Stay there for a couple of days and visit Palamidi (maybe - you’ll either need a car or walk up the almost 900 steps to there, and the entrance is 8 euros, 4 if you’re a student from the E.U.) and the Epidaurus theatre (12 euros, 6 if you’re a student outside E.U and free if you’re a student from the E.U.) and maybe Mycenae (same ticket prices with Epidaurus), then go back to Athens to catch your plane.
On March 6th, April 18th, May 18th, on the last weekend of September, on October 28th and every first Sunday of the months November to March the entrance is free for all for both Epidaurus and Mycenae.
A two-way ticket for Athens - Nafplio is 23 euros, a two-way ticket for Nafplio - Epidaurus is 8.40 euros (the ride lasts 45 minutes), and a two-way ticket for Nafplio - Mycenae is 6.40 euros (also 45 minutes).
In Athens there are two Bus Stations (and it makes my blood boil because I don’t know why they’re different and I always mix them up), so make sure you go to the Kifisos Bus Station for Nafplio. Though tell me to check it again if you do book this trip, just to make sure it’s correct XD
Generally it’s very easy for me to find bus fare prices and info. All fares have standard prices but sadly most websites are only in Greek, so if there’s anything (even besides bus fares) you want me to search, I’d be willing to :)
And WOW I rambled :P I hope you’re getting some good ideas for your travels.
Thank you for your wishes! I also wish you great holidays and a lovely new year with your loved ones and your lovely cat (tell him I love him!) :*

Bangkok Reflections: our first stop, and starting place.
Date of post: July 14, 2019
Current location: Sa Pa, Vietnam
Date of venture post is about: Wow I’m so behind. May 30- June 2, 2019
Location of venture: Bangkok, Thailand
Back to basics. Basics meaning, back to our first city. The beautiful cultural madhouse monster that is Bangkok, Thailand.
We were only here for three days (May 30- June 2nd). We will end our excursion in Bangkok so we will be seeing the city through new eyes. I’m already changed, so I honestly can’t wait to dive deeper into that crazy place.
Night One
We arrived in BK around 12am (12pm Texas time), and yes, we were whooped after 30 hours of travel, but I was wired. Feeling incredibly alive and excited. Perhaps a tad delusional but that’s neither here or there now. We went on the hunt for beer. I think I mentioned we stumbled upon a bar named SOS. The owner was Johns age and opened the bar after he and his wife split. His bar was closed but he offered us craft beer (craft beer is a new thing in Thailand, he definitely took a risk opening SOS) anyway. We drank and chatted for a while, met some other locals our age. We are all friends on social media now and have been chatting throughout our travels. We finally decided to go try and get some sleep.
Day One
The next morning we had breakfast at the top of our hotel and then off to the Royal Palace 👑
I wore shorts and a tastefully sleeveless top. We boarded the water bus (a ferry that travels by way of the main canal through BK). Before stepping off, a tour guide told me I would need to cover my knees and shoulders, or I wouldn’t be allowed through the palace gates. Okay! Easy. I was a tad embarrassed and definitely felt like a newbie tourist. I don’t like feeling like a “tourist”... even when I’m touring 😜.
Here’s a good rule for traveling. Don’t purchase from the first place/shop/stand you see. I ended up buying two sarong’s (one for my waist, one as a shawl for my shoulders) UPON the suggestion of the seller, whom I internally deemed as a “sweet older lady”. For 200 baht each. I now know how overpriced those items were. On top of it, once we bought our tickets and began to walk through the gates, I was stopped by a guard and told my “shawl” wouldn’t suffice. That I needed a legitimate sleeved shirt. This “sweet older lady” totally knew I wouldn’t get past the guards with the sarong “shawl” she sold me but, ya know, enjoy your 200 extra baht. I’ve been using the heck out of that sarong. Luckily Johnny was (for some insane reason, because it was SO hot) wearing two shirts. So he quite literally gave me the shirt off of his back. Into the palace we go!
But first, coffee. So, we read about this special golden coffee you could only purchase in the royal palace, but neither of us remembered it when we stopped in for coffee at a shop right outside the palace gates. I ordered two “Golden Cofee’s” assuming it was black coffee, named golden for the theme of Thailand. Gold is their color. Y’all. This coffee was the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m still not sure what made it so divine, but it caused me to snap a picture of Johnny having his first sip because I myself, physically reacted to how delicious it was.
We toured the palace for free with an English speaking guide, who was just adorable. We met other tourists and chatted about what brought us to the golden land. So many gorgeous Wat’s and temples. Words seem so insufficient and I honestly don’t know how to describe 90% of what I’ve witnessed on this trip. Thankfully, pictures will do what my mind and writing cannot. For the most part. Seeing it with the naked eye is the only way to understand the majesty. Experiencing it for yourself.
After touring the palace, we accidentally got off the ferry one stop after our hotel. We decided to walk back and see Bangkok for what it truly was. The everyday local life. We found an outdoor exercise park. For free. Why don’t we have these in America? Perhaps we like our “super size’s” too much. Why is it more expensive to be healthy than not? Oye vey. Found some cute kitties. They came straight over. Walked further and made it to our hotel after passing through the hustle and bustle of “real life”. The people who beg in Thailand just bow their heads. They won’t even look at you. We gave where we could.
No. Jet lag. None. I was pretty concerned about jet lag because it really messed with me when I studied for a summer in the UK. I’m now realizing there were many contributing factors as to why that experience didn’t and couldn’t touch the divinity of this one. We decided to chill at the hotel pool and take a nap. I set an alarm and made sure we got up because if we had slept longer, we would’ve fallen into the nap trap.
Got up, showered, then? Chinatown. Oh yes. Chinatown is buzzing with street food vendors, neon lights, grand hotels, fruit, massage parlors, bugs on a stick (no thanks), everything. If you wanted it, you could probably find it here. We found a small stand to have a local beer. “Chang”. This is my new favorite beer. “Chang” means “Elephant” in Thai. I mentioned that Johnny bought me a flower, of which I later gave to a beggar woman. She was happy, and so were John and I.
We found the little fishies that eat the dead skin off of your feet. I convinced John to do it with me. I laughed for the first ten minutes and loved every second of it. I’d like to have these guys in a pond infront of my non-existent home.
Ate some street food. Noodles with pork in pork broth and chilies. Yum. Soooo yum. We also tried a Mangosteen. A “what” you say? Mangosteen. It’s my new favorite fruit (and I’ve tried many in the short month and a half I’ve been in SE Asia). Imagine if a nectarine had a baby with a plum apple. Weird right? But it’s the best example I can think of. John buys them for me when we see them in the market (wherever we are). The mangosteen is pictured below.
Day Two
The next morning, we were up with the sun. I’ve never been a morning person. Like, at all. But here I want my days to feel as long as possible, so up at sunrise it is. Gorgeous sunrises in practically every place we’ve stopped. Then, another great breakfast, and on to tour a popular Wat nearby. A Wat? You say? Okay I’ll stop. We stopped for coffee and I was able to reconnect with some old coworkers and friends. I have so much support and love for what I’ve chosen to do with this period of my life. Grateful.
This next Wat was also, spectacular. Pictured below. We saw one of the largest “Reclining Buddha’s” in Thailand. Then, we chose to find a famous chef, featured on Netflix, and Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown”. Her name is Jay Fai. We walked forever and finally found her. With a day long waitlist. Thanks Netflix? But we got to watch her cook. She’s an artist. We ate next door. Then we took a taxi back to the hotel and got out at a market. It was just opening so we witnessed vendors setting up. Still very cool. Made it back to the hotel to freshen up for our night on Koh San Road.
Koh San Road is historically known as “The Backpackers Road”. Lined with vendors offering backpackers anything they may need before embarking on their journey. Now? It’s like Sixth Street and Bourbon Street on speed. Insane T-Shirts. Example: We saw a shirt titled “Nirvana” (like the band) with a picture of “Hanson” below. Hysterical. We decided to stop at an empty street bar named “Lucky Bar”. Tons of adorable waitresses who, were not born female. The Thai Ladyboy is their own gender here and honestly, think and feel what you will, but I just love seeing people living happily. If we aren’t happy, then what the heck are we doing? We met friends from South Korea, Indonesia, South America, and Thailand. Before the night was through, we were all dining together and communicating via google translate. We both smile looking back on that night.
Day Three- Travel Day
The next day, we hit the 9 story mall to buy what we needed and didn’t bring. I purchased some light t shirts and a long skirt. John, a handy belt that held money, and a water proof bag for his camera. Then, on the mini bus to our next stop. Petchburi. I posted about this with photos, right before my inevitable “Good Morning, Vietnam” post.
Thank you again for reading! I hope this paints a clear picture of our short time in Bangkok. I’m very excited to experience the city on a deeper level in a few short weeks. I love you guys ♥️
