honestly one of the sexiest narrative tropes is the use of older stories or classical themes and imagery or biblical themes in gangster and crime family dramas it makes me SCREAM like the themes of family power lust money revenge you can do? the interplay of family bonds with family violence? the replaying of age old stories in diaspora? the circular tragedy of human failings? the tight claustrophobia of ancient kingdoms and city states in the modern City? gritty capitalism as evolution of divine right of kings? I will scream

#may have to come back replaying my thoughts more but I'm like. I WILL scream I loveeee it #honestly one of the best modes to replay greek tragedy IMHO #but I'd like to see it expanded to other areas too. not me putting my Abraham and Isaac and Ishmael but it's modern Brooklyn crime drama #draft away. concepts that make me screammmm #every time I see a new king will be crowned in a gangster drama or the partition of the kingdom between sons it's like. screamity screammmmm #wait I'm thinking of that article about the moral necessity of moral relativity in storytelling #the paradox of it's critical to understand that there are not always the simplistic good and evil but different actors competing for wants #and needs and the way the modern Hollywood complex's flattening of obvious good versus evil obscures moral complexity in like.#what the good guys actually DO #but anyway thinking of that competing needs thing and how it's so important to so much storytelling around the world #very simply speaking #and crime dramas should fundamentally have that worked in. everyone is awful for their own purposes #and yet there are complex bonds of love and trust mixed in #city states and kingdoms competing families etc etc I would love 2 see it #wait like. Tain bo but it's 60 #'s Boston.... how would that work. I would.like 2 see it
