i answered a similar question here , friend !

HOWEVER , IF YOU’RE FAMILIAR WITH MY BLOGS you’ve probably realized i have too much fun with song memes and there’s actually a gc disc. channel dedicated to me spamming the shit out of songs and cm caps , but i digress . . .

basically , i try to match lyrics ( or even the emotion a song shoves down my throat ) to certain moments ( usually important ones , like the backbones of the characters’ relationships ) and then either use the full lyrics or paraphrase them into tags .

𝙳𝙾𝙽'𝚃 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿 ━━ @ gideonlike a shotgun in a fist fight , 𝙻𝙸𝙺𝙴 𝙰 𝙼𝚄𝚁𝙳𝙴𝚁 𝙸𝙽 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙳𝙰𝚈𝙻𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃 , i’m the poison in the lead pipes , open me up and watch the dogs fight . ‘my angel’s in a headlock’ just stuck with me from the very first time i heard this song . idr how long after this , but eventually i remembered it while working on one of my ‘why i love gideon’ posts and it weirdly fits him in my opinion . think of all the lives the team saves over the years : because gideon and rossi single - handedly made the BAU possible . gideon’s often referred to as “the best�� profiler , but as always , his insight comes with a price : mainly , his sanity . if you watch Nelson’s Sparrow in season 10 they show flashbacks to a young gideon and young rossi who are working on a case before the BAU actually exists . towards the end you can see that this case , the fact that they never caught the unsub , already affects him in a negative way , more than the expected disappointment or anger . ‘in a headlock’ = the fact that the unsub from that episode , from one of gideon and rossi’s first cases , is actually the man who eventually kills gideon in his own cabin .

𝙱𝙰𝙳 𝙷𝙰𝙱𝙸𝚃𝚂 ━━ @trialederrors i feel static in my veins , every second of some motion , every time you walk away like if i close my eyes we’ll change from two strangers in a building to some ghosts that only fade away ━ smoke can clear a crowded room ; see , i don’t want you ; see , i don’t need you to make it out alive . and i know i got bad habits i should break ( and when i wanted , 𝙶𝚄𝙽 𝚂𝙼𝙾𝙺𝙴 𝙲𝙰𝙽 𝙲𝙻𝙴𝙰𝚁 𝙰𝚆𝙰𝚈 ) and i know i’ve got some secrets i can’t shake .

lmao this is an easy one : uhhhh mainly i had it on constant repeat while keyboard smashing at ro about hotch and emily . certain bits make me think of emily struggling with her whole arc in s6 and all the shit she’s done with CIA , the BAU , et cetera .

𝙳𝙾 𝙼𝙴 𝙰 𝙵𝙰𝚅𝙾𝚁 @ foyet ( post , post )i am an anti everything man , a scab on the lips of the lord . my caustic dismissal is all i need to get you to fall on your sword . / i woke up today with a gun ; ignoring your history is killing your past / the bell has rung on the titans , everybody give us some room . your so - called set of fake morals , “i can’t tell the difference” is that an excuse ?

‘the titans’ = the team / profilers , how foyet constantly mocked what they reported about his motivations and his behavior . when he’s stabbing hotch and hotch warns “my team [will find me and kill you]” foyet gets pissed and snaps something along the lines of “your team only found me because i let them” ; ‘i can’t tell the difference’ = when hotch beats foyet to death , his ‘excuse’ is protecting his son , “““excuse”““ because when he’s later asked if he’d kill doyle in season 6 to save emily ( and his team ) he says no , that even then he can’t / won’t “break his oath” & in my opinion it’s almost like an emphasis on the fact that hotch and foyet both knew each other better than anyone else . killing foyet was personal . if they were to investigate foyet’s death they’d profile the brutality as “overkill” considering he continued to beat him after the actual killing blow . he didn’t stop until he was physically pulled away . “overkill” is a sign of rage , yeah , but more like a type of rage that pushes you beyond your usual “boiling point” into something you can barely control .

𝙰𝙱𝚂𝙾𝙻𝚄𝚃𝙴 𝚉𝙴𝚁𝙾 ━━ @ the team𝙼𝚈 𝙼𝙾𝚄𝚃𝙷 𝙸𝚂 𝙰 𝙶𝚄𝙽 i can shoot , i can show you the truth and i don’t need a reason to lie to you . no pun intended , no punishment , if i offended you , you needed it . ideas are the bombs in your mind , a fissure in time , if you don’t have a weapon you can’t have mine .

‘i’m not the devil but i won’t be your hero’ is admittedly edgy but whatever , i like it . the team , like emily mentioned above , struggles with their own definition of ‘morality’ thanks to all the shit they see on the job . and i think that is meaningful itself , how they repeatedly crawl inside the minds of some pretty fucked up individuals to try to make sense of the chaos , but then turn around and try to have relatively normal lives .
