In a perfect world where I would work for fun I genuinely would like to work in food service, I like doing repetitive tasks that I know will make someone's day better by feeding them. But unfortunately since managers know that you work food service because you need money to survive I avoid food service jobs like the plague.

Submastober Day 14!
Inspiration: There's an older OC-tober prompt-list here that I am using.
Title: What Does That Remind You Of? Prompt: Legend Word count: 1170 Synopsis: There's a rumor that Ingo and Emmet are legendary dragons in human form.
~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~
Every once in a while, an odd idea floated through the air of Gear Station. Ingo and Emmet, the twin Subway Masters of Nimbasa City, were the legendary dragon pokemon Zekrom and Reshiram. The reasoning was fairly simple: Zekrom and Reshiram were black and white respectively, and Ingo and Emmet wore those same colors all the time.
“That's not just all,” Jackie said, waggling his finger to Cameron. “They're both so tall - obviously legendary dragons would need to be tall humans if they were trying to blend in. Where else would they fit all their power?”
“Lots of people are tall, Jackie.” Cameron elbowed his coworker playfully with a grin. “In fact, Ramses isn't that much shorter than the bosses. Are you saying he's some kind of pokemon too?”
“Well, we can't rule it out." That earned Jackie another elbow into the side, eliciting an ow! from him. Holding his side in mock betrayal, Cameron rolled his eyes at Jackie's dramatics. “Well, still, it would also explain their cool glowing eyes.”
Cameron sighed, tipping his cap towards White as she stood with him and Jackie. “Surely you don't agree with this silly rumor.” He'd thought this a standard visit from the teenager until this line of discussion had started. Jackie always had fanciful thoughts, and White was just encouraging it now.
White shifted, resting her weight on the other foot and jutting her hip. Crossing her arms, she shut her eyes in thought. “When Drayden told me the story about twin heroes wielding a dragon that split into a black one and a white one, they were the first thing that popped into my head.”
“There! See! It's not just me.” Jackie exclaimed. “I'm not saying this as a bad thing. Just think about how cool that would be. We could be working for legendary dragon pokemon, Cameron!”
Sighing again, Cameron's shoulders dropped. “I just think it's all so very mundane! The dragons were heroes who created an entire region. Sure our bosses are strong battlers and have their quirks, but they're just people like us.”
“A region might be a bit much, with our busy schedule. Perhaps you would be content with merely a small island?”
Both agents stiffened, shoulders hiking up to their ears as a very familiar voice piped up behind them.
“Hi Ingo! Hi Emmet!” White chirped, putting her hands behind her back and lacing her fingers together. She'd seen the Subway bosses coming up behind the agents -they were so tall, after all- but thought it might be funny to let them overhear. It was hard to tell what they thought as they approached, wearing their normal expressions.
Both of the Subway Masters tilted their caps in greeting, each giving their own version of a verbal greeting at the same time. Interestingly, although Ingo's was much longer, her name synced up in both of their greetings. Their attentions then turned to their gossiping agents.
“I am Emmet. I have human arms and hands. Reshiram does not.” Emmet stated matter-of-factly, hands down at his sides. As if to prove his point, lifted one hand and held it out palm up to the three that had been talking.
“That is quite true. There are may physical differences between us and the legendary dragons.” Ingo agreed, cupping his elbow as he held a finger to his chin. “Though, I imagine even legendary dragons would find trains and battling a most interesting combo.”
“You don't even focus on the same elements as the legendary dragons!” White said, pointing a finger up. “I feel like it would be so much easier to beat you if you couldn't switch up your types.” Thoughts of all the times she'd lost to them resurfacing, she looked momentarily put out.
“You will beat Emmet someday. But probably not today.” Emmet kept his normal expression as he said this, and White hung her head in fake defeat before popping it back up to express her disagreement! Surely today she was going to win! She'd practiced hard for this visit!
Cameron and Jackie exchanged looks while their bosses were distracted. Glancing to the side, they happened to see Cloud, who luckily was walking their way. “UH!” Jackie said, as he and Cameron straightened their backs, arms tightly against their sides in a mock-attention stance. When Ingo and Emmet turned their attentions to them, Jackie continued. “It seems that Cloud is looking for us!”
Cameron, just as eager to escape his bosses likely teasing about the dragon theory, continued. “It's about time for us to file some of our reports, so we better be going!” Without waiting for an answer, they both made a hasty retreat towards the safer option of Cloud possibly chastising them for slacking off.
After the agents all but scrambled off, the twins turned their attention back to White. Giving them a cheerful grin, she put her hands behind her head casually. “I really am serious about beating you guys today! You better watch out, Emmet!” she said, confidently. “I'm gonna go get Black, and we're gonna get prepared for the battle later!”
“I trust that you will, Ms. White!” Ingo said, clapping his hands in approval.
“I don't. I am Emmet.” Emmet said, hands on his hips.
White stuck her tongue out at Emmet, making a “blehhh!” sound. Emmet always teased her like this, his comments ranging from confident of her future success to insisting she wouldn't win in the now. Ingo had always considered positive encouragement to be the best method, but somehow Emmet's method kept White going. Then she nodded to Ingo before turning on her heel and jogging off to find her own twin.
“That rumor pops up rather often, don't you think, Emmet?” Ingo glanced at his brother. “It could prove troublesome down the line. Perhaps we should set people on the correct tracks again.”
Emmet nodded. “It is too much fun using electric attacks.”
“I quite agree. However, I am having very much fun using other moves, like Earthquake.” Ingo laughed into his fist, eyes shut.
A blue glint flashed over Emmet's silver eyes as he turned his frown on his older brother. “I do not like when you use Earthquake. I am Emmet.”
“No, I suspect you don't,” Ingo agreed, playfully, his partially open eyes showing red sclera. Emmet looked as though he wished to stomp a foot, though he never would do such a thing when they were in the subway. The important part, however, was that Ingo *knew* he wanted to.
Emmet did, however, puff his cheeks in disapproval. "I am Emmet. I will explain to you why it's mean to pick on your brother." Since their secret was still kept, Ingo didn't see any reason why he couldn't listen to Emmet's lecture until White and her brother showed up.

You lifted the box up to the shelf, only slightly struggling with it. Mr. Yun had graciously given you and your other coworker, Jin, the night off to celebrate the Summer Festival, so the sooner you got your work done the sooner you could leave.
Mr. Yun was a kind old man with a small business that he hired extra help for over the summer. This was your fourth year working for him, and third year working with Jin. It was a great way to make some extra money while you weren't in school. And the year Jin came around just made the whole experience better.
Jin was so much fun to work with. He was only a couple years older than you, and he was constantly cracking the worst jokes that always made you laugh, no matter how hard you tried not to. You still remembered the one he told you after he introduced himself.
"Do you know what color hamburgers are?" he asked you, barely holding back laughter with the slyest shit-eating grin you'd ever seen.
"Um, brown, mostly?" you answered, very unsure where this question was about to lead.
"No," he squeaked out, "they're burger-ndy!" Jin bust into laughter at the joke, but it took you a moment to connect the dots before the most unattractive snort escaped you. It was such a stupid joke, it shouldn't have made you laugh, but in trying to hold the laugh back you did that.
You had instantly thought that Jin was attractive, but shoved that thought down as soon as it had arrived. First, you were both here to work, and second, with a face like that he was probably already taken. Still, you had wanted to make a good impression, not… that.
But over the years, despite your attempts to squash any and all romantic feelings you had for him, they had only grown as you got to know him better, as you met his friends, as you hung out with him outside of work. Eventually you learned he wasn't taken, but you still didn't let yourself hope. There was no way he liked you back.
"You got that?" his voice shook you from your thoughts, and you looked over to see Jin (with his now light pink hair that you adored a little too much) gesturing towards the box.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine," you responded as you pushed it into place. "Just trying to get finished so I can get ready for tonight."
"I'm glad you're excited," Jin smiled. "I used my undeniable charm to convince Mr. Yun to let us go tonight." That got an eye roll from you.
"Sure, Jan." That was something you had picked up from Jungkook, the youngest member of their friend group who had the most sibling-like sibling relationship with Jin. The kid was a brat, but he was an adorable one, and he was always sweet to you.
Jin groaned. "Don't encourage the brat by repeating the things he says."
"But Jungkook is funny."
The gasp he let out was overdramatic on purpose, and you giggled. You thoroughly enjoyed teasing him about his jokes (really, Jungkook was just a bad influence on you). "Brats, the both of you!" He turned away, but you caught the hint of a smile on his face. "That's it, I'm telling Mr. Yun you offered to stay here by yourself tonight!"
"No no no no!!" You reached out for his hand to keep him from getting too far away. "No, Jin, don't, I'm sorry! You're way funnier than Jungkook!"
"You promise?"
"Yes! Please, I really wanna go tonight." You added a pout, something you learned from Jimin. Jin rolled his eyes, but acquiesced.
"You really picked up all the worst habits from my friends." He exhaled. "Come on, I'm nearly done with my section, and it looks like you are too."
You dropped his hand and the two of you returned to working in comfortable silence. After a few more minutes of work, you were both finished and you began locking up. Jin waited for you just outside the front, and you heard the tell-tale laughter of two trouble-makers.
"Jin-hyung!"
"Y/N-noona!"
You glanced over your shoulder to see Jungkook and Taehyung bounding towards you two. "Hey guys," you greeted in return as you finished.
"Noona, are you excited for your date with Jin-hyung tonight?" Jungkook asked, a mischievous smile lighting his face. You nearly dropped the store keys, looking between the giddy maknae and Jin's own shocked face.
"Um… what?"
"Jungkook—"
"Yeah, Noona," Taehyung added with a matching smile, "you're ready to go, right?"
"Taehyung!"
"Jin, what are they talking about?" you whisper-yelled to him, very confused.
He gave you a very pretty but very unconvincing smile. "Nothing, just ignore them, they're just being brats." Jin turned back to the boys with a look that said they were going to get killed later.
Jungkook wasn't phased and leveled the elder with a look of his own. "Hyung, have you seriously not asked her yet?"
Jin sighed. "I was getting there until you two terrors showed up!"
You looked between the three bickering friends and took a tentative step back. Jungkook mentioned the word date and both he and Taehyung seemed very insistent that Jin was supposed to ask you on one. But Jin didn't like you like that.
"Hey, Jin?" You finally spoke up, catching all of their attention. "I know we were all planning on hanging out tonight but were you going for something different?"
"It's now or never, hyung," Taehyung smiled, patting Jin's shoulder.
"Fighting!" Jungkook added.
"Would you two get out of here?" Jin lightly pushed them away, and they easily went, offering you a small goodbye and a promise to see you later at the festival.
Once they were both far enough away, Jin smiled at you softly, his face red. "I'm so sorry about them, I don't know what possessed them to do that." You simply nodded and waited for him to continue, to answer your question.
There was a long moment of silence where you two just looked at each other. You wondered what he was thinking about as he met your eyes. Was he thinking about how to let you down easy?
Maybe you shouldn't have asked him if he wanted more for tonight. Maybe you can hang out with Jungkook and Taehyung tonight instead of Jin.
"Listen—"
"Do you like raisins?" Jin asked over what was going to be your poor attempt to backtrack. The question came out of nowhere, and honestly, the past ten minutes were giving you whiplash.
"What?"
"Raisins, you know, the little dried-up grapes. Do you like them?"
Slowly, you shook your head. There was a small niggling feeling in the back of your mind that said this was some kind of set-up for another one of his jokes, but you weren't sure where it was going.
"Okay, so, how would you feel about a date?"
Jin had that smile on his face, the one where he was waiting for you to get the joke, but there was also a hopeful gleam in his eyes like this was more than just a joke.
You took a deep breath, trying to quell the laughter from the pun. "Jin, is this seriously how you're asking me out?"
"Did you really expect anything different from me?"
You let out a small giggle at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. "That's a bad joke," you managed.
"But the date will be amazing, I can promise you that." He added a wink that had you blushing as hard as he was. "I'll meet you later tonight?"
You nodded quickly. "Yeah, I'd really love that." You looked away and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear. Jin waved goodbye with one last smile and ran off to catch up with the younger boys. You started on your way home to get ready for the date you never thought you'd get.

life update
henlo, I just wanted a place where I can post my thoughts and feelings where it doesn't necessarily reach anyone in particular. If it does that's great! But I kind of just need to look busy at work right now lmao and I have a lot of emotions I'd like to write out.
Right now, I have a great job honestly. I still have trouble with motivation and seeing the point in sitting at a desk all day, but at least I get paid decently and it's in the field in I studied in! I really can't complain about my work, I'm super lucky to have it. Which...is why I've been guilty and disappointed in myself this week. I let my old habits get the best of me and I didn't go to work on Tuesday. My boss was on vacation at the time so I thought I could play a little hooky. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way and I got in trouble. It's so dumb that I even thought it would be okay to do that, but I did it anyway and severely regret it. I hope I never do it again and honestly, I think I'm getting better at sucking it up and going to work, I just let my laziness get the best of me that day and it sucks.
Another reason it sucks is because this week was supposed to be perfect and fun, and I ruined it by own actions. I'm still trying to get past the bad vibes from that day but it's so hard and I'm so tired lol. I also wish I had New Year's Eve off, buuut I think I'll get off an hour early so that's a plus. I just have to think positively I guess ughhh lol!
Now I can talk about the fun stuff I suppose! I recently got into my first relationship in August, and it's just been amazing and so magical. I really can't believe I found someone who loves me as much as I love them and are so accepting of me and all my flaws. I really never thought I'd be able to find someone like that for me. Funny enough, it was through a dating app! My life has changed so drastically since August. I started my full-time job and a committed relationship basically at the same exact time.
I'm also making friends again, I think. My partner has one close friend here in ABQ (he's from CA) that I love, she is so funny and cool! I hope she considers me a friend too, haha! I also love my coworkers, they're really nice, funny, mature, and super helpful (they're both older than me by at least 10 years).
Next year (literally next month) my best friend is having her bachelorette party and I'm sooo happy and excited for her! We're just spending a few days up in a cabin to chill, smoke, drink, and play in the snow. Magical! Her wedding is in March and I'm a bridesmaid!
My partner and I may be calling each other fiancés, by the way, lol! He sort of proposed to me during a beautiful night while we were watching the stars and city lights. I took him to the foothills and made the trunk of my CRV super comfy with fairy lights and everything because he was having a really hard time that week with family and mental illness. He did make a point that because he didn't have a ring that it wasn't the official proposal he will be doing later lol!
Anyway, the reason THIS week is exciting for me is because my family is out of state! They left to visit family in CA but I had to stay for work (and because I didn't really want to go). So, I basically have the house to myself this whole week and it's been so nice (besides the stress from work lol). My mom doesn't approve of me spending the night with my partner because we're not married lmao so that's why this week is special because we get to spend all the time we want together outside of work! We're also planning on spending New Year's Eve together with our friend, we're going to do make your own pizzas, board games, video games, movies, snacks, annnd yea! I got a cold sore right before Christmas so we haven't been able to kiss in a hot minute and we're saving it for midnight this Friday! It's kind of torture but also super sweet that he wants to even do that lol!
I think that's all, we're also planning on moving in together next year which my mom also doesn't approve of buuut I'm doing it anyway ahhh. My mom's very religious and pro-purity culture so it's...very toxic and I can't wait to move out ughhh. I've been wanting to live on my own since I can remember! Alright, I'm done, happy new year!

Friday, at work, my older colleagues were talking about a stupid french movie there was on tv the night before.
I know french movie makers aren't good at making evolved jokes and they always go for the basic, stupid jokes. But this one pissed me off, and is one of the reasons I hate tv so much now.
Plot was simple. A classic.
A woman makes a drunk wish "if I were a man". And wakes up the next morning with a penis.
I know. Hilarious.
And here they started talking about it was all so funny that she became a man and all ! And how the people saw her differently...
Yes. Because body dysphoria is SO funny !
Because you magically become a man the moment you have a penis !
Because insulting trangender people's everyday struggles and overall persecution from society is SOOOO funny !
In a country where humorists are still considering "extremists" when they tell that women are supposed to orgasm too when men fuck them. A country where I heard, not so long ago "yes Monique, they sleep in the same bed. They are not friends. They're lesbians."
In that country, considered as one of the most advanced in terms of rights, it feels good to be transgender.
It is the best job I ever had. By far. One of the most open minded ones, too. I love there. I love my coworkers. But even there, stupid bad "humor" like that still exists. I hate tv.
