Au where marcia got into that argument with her mother a good few years earlier and then got unofficially adopted into the heap family against her will <3

#marcia age 12: and I'm going to be extraordinary wizard SO THERE #marcia the second it kicks in that she just ran away from home: Oh Fuck #and then bc she has the I Cannot Go Back On My Decisions Because That Would Be Embarrassing mindset. She does not go back #ends up at the heaps bc she has no friends but she sometimes hangs out w silas #is Very shady abt why she's there #'wont your mother be worried about you?' 'ahaha ANYWAY' and silas and his parents are Very Concerned bc she is Awful at pretending its fine #they let her stay the night without asking any questions but when she's asleep they're like. Okay so wtf is up with this #she goes back to her house the next day and asks her mother if she can come back in #her mother says she can come back if she swears to give up magyk. She Does Not expect marcia to refuse bc shes 12 what else is she gonna do #marcia DOES say she'll give up magyk. But she can't lie to save her life and her mother is like 'either you mean it or you pack your stuff #and leave'#and marcia shoves past and shoves some stuff in a bag and leaves and then has a Second panic bc. That was very final #her mother is fully expecting her to come back within a week at most so she's not like particularly worried. She'll learn her lesson #and marcia shows back up at the heaps with a bag this time like. Haha hi I'm back. Uh. Yeah #and then they ask questions and she doesn't see the point in not answering bc like? Why not?#and they're like. Okay so ur staying here as long as u need. ur mother is a bitch #and then she just Doesn't Leave <3 #her mother gets proper pissed and never speaks to her again even when she's older and ESPECIALLY not when she's the apprentice #marcia lives with alther from the get-go bc she's felt a bit like she's intruding from the first day she stayed at the heaps #she ends up going back with them for a week after her breakdown a month into the apprenticeship #and that's the thing that actually makes her feel like she does rlly belong there bc. It's Home in a way her mother never was #she also dslikes sarah the minute she meets her but says Nothing bc silas clearly likes her and she doesnt want to mess anything up for him #she would've stuck around longer but silas's mum went off travelling while she was still young enough #and it was just silas sarah and their small children and she is Very :/ abt small children #ANYWAY #self indulgent au over everyone go home #septimus heap #marcia overstrand #silas heap #oh shit this is the tag limit oop
