Ok probably a bad faith read of Arcane but it IS a pet peeve of mine with any media when the villains are the ones who have something visibly 'different' about them.
Silco's half paralyzed face and his eye. I can't help but think that these were meant to communicate more about his villainy.
The chembarons- I mean, do i need to explain?
this is not a callout post, just a trope that not even arcane is exempt of. It must be tempting to some writers to use visual features to communicate that someone is evil but... come on... stop that.
#arcane critical#there's something so... idk. sad about how some features I have or loved ones had that I ONLY ever saw on villains#people make the argument that it is because the heroes have to be 'pretty' (conventionally) because everyone likes looking at pretty people#but doesn't it make them sad to say that? that only those features get to be considered acceptable?#and many features- often ones that result from an illness or injury- are villanised#simply for being unusual..?#sorry this is probably a bad post but anyway those are my thoughts on the chembaron designs#inb4 someone tells me they're not evil: they run a child labour factory. don't come at me
