Finally got the chance to make a post with Keiko's latest Instagram Lives. I've been really busy so I haven't even watched all of them in detail T_T I am off to Japan tomorrow and will be gone for a total of three weeks. My mobile data will be limited so I am not sure I will be able to record Keiko's Instagram Lives during that period. Hopefully I won't miss too much.

I was tagged by @dravenxivuk to put my spotify on repeat playlist on shuffle and post the first 10 songs! Two things though: Draven tagged me on my personal blog, but since this is a music tag, I decided to post it here! And finally, I don't use Spotify, so I had to do this in an alternative way, haha (I looked in my LastFM what are the 30 most repeated songs on the last 30 days, and used a randomizer to pick 10 random numbers between 1-30)
I also decided to link to the songs, because that's how I like to make music posts here! Also because most of these have banger performances anyway
Tsuioku (Kalafina) (Uploading the vid here directly bc this is my favorite version and Youtube always obliterates this from the platfom)

I think a (potentially) generation defining thing is how you feel about the phasing out of internal optical/DVD/CD (however you say it) readers in laptops.
I do not want to have to buy an extra external device that has to be plugged in. That (in my opinion) is way more inconvenient than a laptop that's heavier.
I have plenty of physical media I still want to enjoy! (I also want to collect more before things disappear.) I already own them!! so, I'm sorry, the only way I'm experiencing it digitally is if I can rip it or if I download it by other means.
#{domino rambles after dark}#this is brought to you by 'why the absolute fuck is there foam stuffed in the cd player of my car and i can't get it out'#when i was trying to listen to the kalafina cd i got from new friends for my drive home and found out that#if you actually look in the player that there is some foam or something and now i have to go to the dealership to inquire if#A: can they get that out of there and B: does the cd player even work and they just DIDN'T tell me/my dad?????#i know a lot of people who that doesn't matter too and it doesn't really affect the value BUT#what the fuck my absolute disappointment as i sat in my car repeating my confusion over and over for 1+ minutes#I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO TELL MY FRIENDS 'OH MY GOSH THOSE ALBUMS ROCK THANK YOU SO MUCH'#it's just rude#and then i can't even rip the music onto my laptop so i can put it on my phone 乁( •_• )ㄏ#hi! i'm 26 and i hate modern technology trends! :'D#and the modern internet and social media#take me back to tv network websites with games and limewire and youtube to mp3 websites and 3+ part anime on YouTube too

"If I go, you'll go down with me..."
Omg this took me 3 freaking hours to sketch, add ink, and color. My hand hurts 😅 Anyway, I was just doodling until this was coming out pretty good that I was getting into it and it ended up like this. With goosework saying that Jax will do something pretty bad and unforgivable, it just makes me love Jax a lot more. I honestly find him way more interesting as an antagonist than just some jerk. I know it's wishful thinking but it would be cool to see pomni confront him like this if he does become more villainous and he would mess with her. Idk just an idea I got when drawing this. I was even hearing Kalafina's song "Magia" on repeat while coloring this 😄

I watched the Madoka Magica: Rebellion movie today, and I absolutely loved it. A very interesting spin on the shows ending, and it makes perfect sense to me. In the show, nearly all of them died except for Madoka and Homura, the former of which sacrifices herself to become a God of sorts so that way no other magical girl will have to suffer anymore. So she leaves Homura alone. Alone in a world where nobody but Homura remembered Madoka. And after everything that girl went through to try and save Madoka, that's a hard pill to swallow. So when it's revealed in the movie that the reality that the girls are in isn't real, and that one of them made it up because they now have the powers of a witch, it made perfect sense for that person to be Homura.
Out of all the other magical girls, she's the one who has faced the most heartbeat and despair. Constantly going back in time, creating different worlds as a result of said time travel, all in a bid to save Madoka, the person who she loves the most. And in the end, all of her efforts were in vain. She lost the one person who she had sworn to save and protect. So is it any wonder that she would give in to her despair and create a world where Madoka and all of their friends could live peacefully?
Look at them. All together and happy, unaware of the reality they actually come from. In other words, a world that Homura wanted and desired more than anything else. Something that I found to be really interesting and thought was a nice touch was this:
The people around them don't have faces. Almost as if they weren't real people, and the only ones who WERE in fact real was Homura, her friends, and the people closest to them. They were the only ones who actually had faces in this world. Of course, eventually Homura realizes that something is off about the world, and confides in Kyoko. The two then set out to Kyoko's hometown, hoping to find some answers there....only for the bus that they were on to take them back to the city that they currently live in. And endless loop that they can't get out of. As if nothing outside of that city existed. A lot of stuff happens, and Homura eventually comes to a startling conclusion: that she was the witch that created the labyrinth they were all currently stuck in. As a result, she gives in to despair entirely and transforms into a witch. Madoka and the others arrive to try and save Homura. And now we get up to the scene that had me screaming😂.
I've been shipping these two since I watched the show, so the fact that Sayaka actually confessed to Kyoko here was a very welcomed surprise, lol. Anyway, they all fight together to save Homura (also, I loved that they played Misterioso by Kalafina for that scene, absolutely banger song) and eventually Madoka regains her true form once again:
Everything looks like it's going well, and it looks like Homura will be saved....until this happens:
Homura takes away Madoka's God powers so she can live as an ordinary girl, and takes the power for herself, essentially turning her into a demon.
Now, I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of people who hated this part, but honestly? I loved it. To me, it really showed how done Homura was with everything (and I can't say that I blame the girl, she just found out from Kyube that she was being used for an experiment in order to get to Madoka) and that she would literally do ANYTHING to make sure that Madoka and her friends could live happy lives.
Even if that meant becoming a demon to do it.
The movie ends with all of the girls alive. And this time, instead of Madoka no longer existing in the world, she's here too. In fact, she's the transfer student instead of Homura. Very interesting turn of events indeed.
All in all, I really loved this movie and I think the ending makes perfect sense, especially for someone like Homura, who has been through a heck of a lot for a young girl her age. So becoming the villain in the end? Fits her tragic story perfectly.

Barbatos as songs from my comfort playlist:
*Disclaimer: my criteria for this was all over the place. Some are because of the lyrics, some are based on vibes, and some my brain just said choose that one 😬 (all the OM! songs are in the playlist too but obviously they don't count)
(This will forever be the JJK trauma song BUT I feel like the vibes fit Barbs. It reminds me of how Barbs is usually smiling but still has this kinda threatening vibe)
(This song makes me imagine something like MC finally gets close to Barbs and when they're alone he drops the "put together" act and lets himself indulge in his desires that he usually ignores as to not distract from his responsibilities)
(This song reminds me of how Barbs cooks a lot and how everyone always says his food is delicious. The whisper parts play into his mysterious vibes)
(BLACK BUTLER SONG FOR THE LESS CUNTY VERSION OF SEBASTIAN. This fits his mysterious vibes as well as giving that kinda old timey vibe since he's old)
(MORE BLACK BUTLER FOR YOU DIET SEBASTIAN. This one is pretty similar reasoning as the last one)
(This makes me think like Barbs is the maestro keeping things flowing smoothly in the devildom under Dia. I also feel like Barbs plays the violin or another type of orchestral instrument which would fit with this songs vibe)
(If Barbs turned out to be a villain this would be the song playing when everyone found out. He'd be laughing like a maniac and the chorus would be playing in the background while everyone was standing there in shock)

Kalafina Anniversary Concert Review
Ok, it’s time for me to do my review of Kalafina’s Reunion Concert. First of all, a warning: this will be cheesy, a bit delusional, and include some reflections. I might also misremember some details since I’m writing this three days after the concert.
To start off, it was an absolute honor to be there and witness them sing together again. You have no idea how happy I was when I first heard the news of their reunion concert. Even though there are still ongoing issues, I’m so glad they pushed through with it.
I want to thank Sarah for helping me get a ticket. I’m truly grateful—it might have been impossible for me to secure one on my own. Also, it was so nice meeting you! And thank you for the gift ❤️
Sitting there in the Tokyo Garden Theater felt surreal, like a dream. Was this really happening?
From my point of view (I was in the arena, so my perspective was limited), I didn’t see any vacant seats. It was clear that so many people truly wanted to attend this concert. My seat in the arena had an okay view—not too far—and the energy was through the roof. It felt like all the hyper fans were gathered there! 😂 I had to stand up a lot and did so many gestures that the next day my body was sore. My creaking joints were complaining, but hey, I’d do anything for Kalafina!
Onto the concert...
Oblivious. An obvious start, since it was their very first song. The girls seemed a little tense; I could sense some awkwardness. Maybe it was just nerves at the beginning of the concert or uncertainty about how the audience would react. They didn’t need to worry—every single one of us there adored them and came to celebrate Kalafina’s anniversary.
Kizuato. A little shaky, and I could still feel some awkwardness. Perhaps it’s because they haven’t sung together in a while—or maybe I’m overanalyzing.
Mirai. It took me the longest time to remember this song’s title. It wasn’t until they sang “Mirai” that it clicked for me, lol.
MC: Hikaru was so cute! I’m incredibly proud of her; she’s grown so much and seems more confident. She’s also such a comedian. 😂 She directed the cheers by sections, and it was such a cute moment.
Hikari no Senritsu. This was the turning point where they really started coming together. Their on-stage chemistry returned, and it was a wonderful performance—I truly enjoyed it. This was also when I noticed how much Wakana’s singing voice has strengthened over the years.
Storia. I was hoping for this song, and they didn’t disappoint! Storia is one of my favorites because of how smoothly it flows, much like Hikari no Senritsu. Seeing their simple dance moves again brought so much joy. By this point, their chemistry was completely back. It felt as if their 10th anniversary was only a few months ago. Their little gestures—facing each other and raising their hands—always get me. Their singing also seemed to improve as the concert went on, probably because they were warmed up by then.
Ring Your Bell. The energy started to build here. A few people in the audience began standing and doing the hand gestures, and eventually, more and more joined in. By the later songs, everyone was standing and fully participating. It felt like we, the fans, were shaking off the cobwebs and remembering everything we used to do. I’m proud I still remembered the timing for the hand gestures! 😂
(Note: At times, the instruments overpowered the vocals, making it hard to hear the girls sing.)
MC: I have no idea what they said—it seemed a little stiff and serious.
Hanataba. The pianist surprised us with a little accordion performance. It was such a pleasant touch.
Lacrimosa. I love this song. The nostalgic hand gestures between the girls were such a treat.
Manten. It was okay—the singing was spot on, but this song has always been just “meh” for me.
To the Beginning. The audience was standing, full of energy, and nailing the gestures. It was so wonderful to see that we still remembered the hand gestures!
MC: Once again, I didn’t understand much of what they said.
Kimi no Gin no Niwa. Wakana was exceptional here. Keiko, as always, delivered a stellar performance. The little acappella part at the end was beautiful.
Sprinter. The emotional arrangement was stunning. Hikaru poured so much emotion into this song, and Keiko, unsurprisingly, was amazing.
MC: I didn’t catch most of what they said, but their warmth and chemistry were back. Their cute interactions with each other and the audience were lovely to see.
Hyakka Ryouran. I loved this performance! I’ve always liked this song—it feels like going into battle. Thankfully, they dropped the strange dance from the 10th anniversary. I do wish Wakana’s mic volume had been higher at times, though.
Misterioso. A strong performance that helped build the energy even further.
One Light. Another banger. The girls were on fire, and the audience matched their energy. My feet were aching from standing, but it was worth it!
Kyrie. The high-energy block continued, and my arms were starting to give out from all the hand gestures. But the arena was buzzing with energy and cheers.
Ongaku. A crowd favorite! The girls encouraged us to cheer with them—it was like a party. Everyone was so happy, and you could see how much fun the girls were having too.
Heavenly Blue. A perfect follow-up to Ongaku to maintain the energy. My back was aching, but I didn’t care!
Alleluia. One of my favorites, and it never fails to make me emotional. It was a bit shaky but still beautiful, with Keiko pouring so much emotion into it.
Encore call. The audience clapped endlessly, and we were rewarded with...
Magia. Hikaru nailed it! An incredible performance.
Hikari Furu. Not my favorite—honestly, I wish they’d replaced it with Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Yuku. Wakana struggled a bit here.
MC: I really hope someone translates this. It seemed emotional—Wakana even cried, and Keiko adorably tried to shield her from the camera. Hikaru’s playful attempt to recreate their poses from the pamphlet was a cute touch.
Into the World. Always a great ending song that brings me peace. One of my favorites.
Ending MC. Everyone was grateful and happy. A funny moment occurred when they made a mistake during their bow. They did not shout the same thing.lol. The audience laughed as they discussed what to say for the bow—it was such a Kalafina thing to happen. After the bow, they walked to the right and then left of the stage, waving to everyone. I was emotional by then.
Reflections:
I know this concert was surrounded by issues, but I, for one, am glad they pushed through with it. As a fan for years (since After Eden), who witnessed their 10th anniversary and then their sudden disbandment, I needed this closure. That abrupt disbandment left us in limbo and with a bitter taste. For years, I couldn’t listen to any Kalafina songs because they reminded me of what happened and how uncertain everything was.
But now, I feel at peace. Seeing them perform again made me realize something: I can finally move on. Not that I’ll stop being a fan, but I can now place them in a comfortable place in my mind. Kalafina might reunite again someday—or they might not—and I’m okay with that. I’ll always happily support them and attend their concerts if they have them.
Another realization I had during this concert is just how much the girls wanted to sing together again. You could practically see it on their faces—the happiness of performing together again, despite all the challenges. It was so obvious to everyone at the concert, and that’s something I’ll hold on to.
Thank you, Wakana, Keiko, and Hikaru, for making this concert happen.
#kalafina#wakana#keiko#hikaru#kalafina reunion#And thank you#Kajiura-san#for encouraging the fans to support the girls#even if the circumstances weren’t ideal.

What Even Is a Kara no Kyoukai?
Kara no Kyoukai is a series of anime movies put out by Ufotable between 2007 and 2013 based off of the light novel series of the same name written by Type-Moon founder and creative director Kinoko Nasu in the 90s.
That's it, that's the post.
But seriously, if you're familiar with Nasu's other works, you'd know that they have a reputation for being rather inaccessible, especially to those in the west and Kara no Kyoukai specifically comes with some extra content warnings that aren't as prevalent in some of his other works.
Now, this would normally be fine, however a lot of content put to the forefront as "primers" to the show by the anime community either focus too much on the metaphysics and how it relates to other Type-Moon media or is a detailed thematic analysis that gives away too much of the sauce.
I plan to do neither here.
Instead, I'll give a brief rundown of the show's traits. Then, I'll talk about the main cast of characters and I'll finish it off by giving the general premise of each episode. (And I'll lump all of the Extra Chorus OVAs together for this purpose.)
So, Kara no Kyoukai sorta paved the way for the trappings you'd expect of modern Ufotable. Even over 15 years later, the show is absolutely gorgeous and puts a lot of modern anime to shame with its production quality. The attention to detail, shot composition and immaculate backgrounds that you'd expect of a Unfotable production are all here. Except this was really the first work to bring those traits to the forefront.
Just on the merits of that, as an anime watcher its worth the curiosity. The triumphs of productions like Demon Slayer and Fate/Zero clearly trace their DNA right back to Kara no Kyoukai.
The OST for this series is... basically unmatched. Kalafina was founded to do the music for this show, and the general consensus seems to be that Yuki Kajiura did some of, if not her very best, work on this show.
Admittedly I'm a not a big music analysis person, but I will personally attest that the ambiance and immersiveness of Kara no Kyoukai's score is some of the best in any piece of media that I have consumed. Also the big theme songs for each film all absolutely rock.
Doing a little background research, it looks like a lot of those theme songs are on the Kalafina album Seventh Heaven, so if you're a fan of high-quality J-pop/rock, give that a go maybe. I mean, they're really good in a vacuum, better in the context of the episode they were written for.
Its paced a lot slower than a lot of other anime movies, leaving a lot of room for ambiance and quiet character moments. Also quite a bit of the series is just characters talking, be it about philosophy or metaphysics, but it's usually not egregious and if you're into that sort of thing (which I am) it's a good time. Also the cuts can be quite creative, especially in Paradox Spiral.
So, now that a lot of that peripheral housekeeping is done:
What the Fuck even is a Kara no Kyoukai?
It's a paranormal mystery, dark urban fantasy thriller seinen anime that explores themes of humanity, identity, sin and dichotomy. Oh and murder. Especially murder.
The general plot setup is more something you'd expect of a shoujo. Boy meets girl, the complexities and trials of their relationship etc.
The big twist is that the girl in this trope is best described as "one who murders" and the story is told out of chronological order.
It's set in a fictitious city in Japan called Mifune, mostly between '96 and '99. Supernatural phenomenon exist, but aren't common knowledge and the main focus of the subject matter is individuals with some manner of ESP or active psychic ability, though there's significant representation from elements of mysticism as well as more archetypal wizard sorts.
I strongly recommend watching the films in release order because its better thematically, however there's a lot of value on a rewatch and doing so in chronological order could shed some light on things.
As I'm about to transition into talking into some of the show's particulars, here's where I'll put the content warnings for those who would prefer going in blind and would like to know what horrible imagery they're about to be exposed to or would maybe be dissuaded by.
CW, suicide, gore, horror, sexual assault, domestic violence, cannibalism.
Who are the main characters in Kara no Kyoukai?
Shiki Ryougi is our main character. A young woman with an attraction to death and murderous impulses. She presents as stoic, but she's anything but uncaring. She's very nuanced, but as the main character a good deal of the series goes into exploring her, so I won't delve into her complexities. After an accident as a teenager that left her in a coma, she gained the ability to see death in the forms of lines that act akin to the 'seams' of living beings, objects and even concepts. By cutting on these lines, she can kill anything.
Mikiya Kokuto is our male lead. An intelligent and excessively kind young man who became hopelessly infatuated with Shiki in high school, only to suspect that she was the one perpetrating a series of serial murders. When Shiki was comatose, he wound up working as a private investigator of sorts for the Garan no Dou agency, but continued to carry a torch for Shiki.
Touko Aozaki is our mentor character of sorts. More than likely the greatest doll and puppet maker in the world, Touko is also a mage and a lauded polymath, excelling in basically any field that proves of interest to her. She runs the Garan no Dou agency and employs Mikiya for his investigative prowess and later Shiki for her combat abilities as her sole employees. She's a chainsmoking girlboss who can be overly verbose and pretentious. Despite some unscrupulous morality, she legitimately cares about her subordinates.
Azaka Kokutou is Mikiya's younger sister who vehemently opposes her brother's relations with Shiki. Certainly the "4th wheel" of the cast made worse by the adaptation greatly condensing her chapter to laser in more on the Shiki and Mikiya dynamic. She apprenticed herself to Touko as a means of inserting herself into the workings of Garan no Dou. Azaka is smart, expressive, headstrong and funny. Touko is teaching her flame manipulation, as that's what she has the most affinity for.
I'll omit the antagonists here and encourage folks to watch the show as my little blurbs here give the jist of the cast, but really doesn't do them justice. The cast for the most part is really well characterized and much in Nasu's style, even when he plays to a trope there's a lot more to it than that.
What Exactly am I in for?
So, there's (depending on your definition) 8-9 films and a few ~10 minute OVAs. Unfortunately, the light novels have never been localized and there's only an incomplete fan translation and a somewhat inaccurate machine-assisted translation.
The film series adapts every part of the series except the side-story Final Record, albeit Azaka's chapter, Oblivion Recording, was greatly altered for the film adaptation.
The main series ran from '07 to '09 and includes episodes 1-7 and the Epilogue. Future Gospel and the OVAs came out in 2013 and they're a few side stories with the main act functioning as an epilogue of sorts to the epilogue.
So, the films post their position in the timeline at the end of each instalment, but I'll post them upfront here for the purposes of making it easier for one to keep track and using this piece as a guide.
I - Overlooking View (Sept '98) A series of suicides committed by schoolgirls jumping off of the roof of an abandoned apartment building catch the interest of the members of Garan no Dou. Some supernatural effect causes Mikiya to fall into a deep sleep and when Shiki investigates the building, she sees the ghostly figures of eight girls in the sky.
II - Murder Speculation Part 1 ('95-'96 schoolyear, ending in March) Mikiya becomes classmates with Shiki, who he immediately becomes infatuated with despite her less than accommodating personality. A series of murders happen in the city and Mikiya, suspecting her to be the perpetrator, tries to prove her innocence.
III - Remaining Sense of Pain (July '98) A young woman is viscously assaulted and the perpetrators are turning up dead, their bodies horribly mangled. Garan no Dou is presented with the case, but due to Touko's monetary problems, Mikiya resorts to freelancing in the short term. Shiki intends to put the murderer down, claiming them to be similar, albeit one of them is out of control.
IV - The Hollow Shrine (June '98) Shiki awakens from her coma after the accident, feeling hollow due to what she lost and now possessing the ability to see death. Mikiya is barred from visitation, as it's restricted to the family, so Touko sneaks into the hospital to check on her and takes immediate interest in Shiki's new perceptive abilities.
V - Paradox Spiral (November '98) A young man murders his mother in self-defense and winds up being helped by Shiki. Mikiya investigates some suspicious tenants of an apartment building that Touko designed and some old associates of Touko's are in town, one of them with a bone to pick.
VI - Oblivion Recording (January '99) Garan no Dou is asked to investigate a suspicious suicide at Azaka's boarding school and some lapses in memory around the incident in question. Shiki is dispatched, much to Azaka's displeasure and the two work to uncover a mage using fairies behind the two events.
VII - Murder Speculation Part 2 (February '99) Shiki, feeling perturbed, hasn't been frequenting her apartment. Meanwhile the serial murders from '96 start back up. Mikiya, trying to prove Shiki's innocence, begins investigating a drug ring related to the incidents and the events of the unsolved '96 murder cases finally come to light.
Epilogue - The Boundary of Emptiness (a few weeks after the events of Murder Speculation 2) Two people have a fateful meeting where they discuss some particulars of the events of the series, metaphysics and philosophy. It's literally a half-hour conversation. It's classified as an OVA, but it's almost as long as The Hollow Shrine.
Future Gospel (August '98 & Summer 2010) A serial bomber with the ability to see the future winds up targeting Shiki after proving unable to kill her meanwhile Mikiya has a chance encounter with a girl with a similar ability. Later, an elderly woman who tells fortunes attracts the negative attention of a crime syndicate.
Future Gospel - Extra Chorus (After the events of the summer of '98) A series of short vignettes, about 10 minutes apiece. Shiki takes care of a cat. A girl feels guilty over the death of her best friend. Mikiya and Shiki celebrate New Years.
The Future Gospel stuff, being a side story has a very different feel than the main series (I blame most of the events happening during the day and it being notably less gore-y than the earlier parts). But it's still a very fun watch. In a lot of ways it acts as a means of tying the series up in a bow with a nice "10 years later" segment and some flashbacks to the '95 school year. If you're going to skip something, skip it, but seeing as you've presumably made it that far already, you deserve a treat because it's just fun.
But yeah... this is my favorite anime series. I just finished a rewatch last night and felt urged to type this up. Hopefully it helps people or encourages folks to give the show a try if they've otherwise felt daunted.

The stream will be coming soon!
Though I want to live blog about this, I have a very important appointment on Monday and I might be MIA till afternoon.
But let me drop my Wind Breaker Bingo Card.
Edit: DISCLAIMER! Some of predictions here came from different discussions (for Endo's VA). This post and this one
Some of these are actually just crack or desperate takes. And you can see how biased is this bingo card towards Endo 😂🤣. As for the other characters, I can't grasp who are suitable voices for them. I didn't include Shingo Natori because he is already voiced by Junya Enoki.
Edit²:
Some honorable candidates I thought of for Endo: Hiroshi Kamiya and Taniyama Kishou.
As for Madoka Magica and Black Butler, I have not enough takes to make separate bingo cards for them so I'll just write them down.
I am desperately hoping for Keiko and Hikaru to make a comeback on both Madoka Magica and Black Butler, especially with Madoka Magica. Though Kalafina disbanded long ago, it's hard to picture the anime without being reminded of ed song "Magia". Kalafina is a special part of the PMMM franchise. But since it's confirmed that Yuki Kajiura is back again for the movie and Yuriko is also on vocal track, I have hopes that Hikaru will also be tapped to join.
With Black Butler tho, I have less hope of Hikaru or any singer of Yuki Kajiura to sing the ed/op of Green Witch Arc. Also, I doubt that SID will be part of the season because their music style kinda don't match well with the vibe of GW arc. The one I imagine for this season is Ali Project.
I don't have a lot to say for the additional cast but here they are:
- Aoi Yuki for Sieglinde Sullivan
- Yoshimasa Hosoya for Wolfram Gelzer
- Romi Park for one of the undercover female soldiers

I got tagged by @tenderlambkin to do this! Thank you!!
Last Song: “Lacrimosa” by Kalafina
Favorite Color: Violet. Honestly any shade of it. I just love purple.
Currently Watching: Been rewatching Arcane and actually literally at this moment, I’m watching WoolieVersus ER playthrough while I draw
Last Movie: I think it was Deadpool & Wolverine or Love Lies Bleeding?
Sweet/Savory/Spicy: Savory/spicy
Current obsession: Guess the usual stuff. My OCs and Soulsborne, my cats, eating the same food week after week bc I get hooked on certain things and won’t stop until I hate them…
Also satellites bc I have to do a lot related to those at work rn
Last thing I googled: “Bvlgari Soir” (the post I RB that mentioned cologne reminded me I’ve been meaning to look into getting it bc I had a sample and was obsessed with how it smelled)
That was fun, I’m going to tag @badbadsomegood @sealer-of-wenkamui @busyfish @ruruss @highway-stars @sarahsartistportfolio @genuinefauxthought @fleursetrebellion

Hello dear Sarah, I hope you are feeling very well ☺️ I was wondering if by any chance you will have on audio all the covers that Wakana has done in her concerts, such as the covers that she sings at the live music party? Thanks in advance
Hello there! Sorry for the late reply. It took me a while to muster up the necessary motivation to collect all of Wakana's covers and put them into a single folder. Wakana has done quite a lot of covers throughout the years and while I do have audios for all of them, they are scattered across several folders and two different Google Drives. I didn't wanna forget about anything so I carefully worked my way through my Wakana content. Hopefully the list is complete now. If anyone notices that something is missing, please let me know! Also, please be aware that I am only including full covers here. Wakana has done various short covers on Instagram and her fan club videos but I wouldn't add them to this collection.

The WIP Questionaire
Thanks so so much from @verba-writing for the tag! I had such a fun time reading your answers too and I'm very excited for paranormal romance 😍
I feel like I wanna flag that a lot of my answers are very anime/gaming-sphere oriented and I hope I'm not totally alienating my mutuals by revealing just HOW MUCH I'm not a book person lololol But this is with what we're working:
The Questions are:
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
The very first thing I made was the high premise: It was synthesized from the Overly Sarcastic Productions question "What if all the Kings Under the Mountain came back...?" and then I added the context "...in a Nuclear Crisis to discuss piece?" And in my head, it was this HBO-style modern fantasy Game of Thrones meets West Wing type deal. But then... I didn't want to write the modern piece. (The modern piece should be written by people in countries from all over Europe about what it means to be a hero in various cultures.)
So I set it in 1800s fantasy world instead!
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
The first arc would be Dance in the Game by Zaq
The second arc would be Lacrimosa by Kalafina
The Gods' Arc would be Paper Boquet by Mili
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
Is it to cliché to be like "my current self-insert protagonist is my favorite character I've ever made"? Her and my antagonist are just THE BEST and I love them.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
Mmm, I think Untitled Yssaia Game's story would appeal to queer Game of Thrones fans who could FEEL the straightness in GoT, especially if they also like anime. I would hope I could get general anime fans as well as Arcane and Genshin Impact fans, but I feel like those are too mainstream and Yssaia is not. Realistically, I think I'm gonna get the Wadanohara people and the Ib people and, if I get really lucky, the To the Moon people.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
Marketing lol -- explaining what it is to people in a way that they realize they want it.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Fuafua 🥺🥺🥺
Look at her! She is a six-legged, six-eyed slug cat called a Maret. Marets fill the same role as ocelots in Yssaia, except they're more semi-aquatic like otters and their skin has a stressball-like texture.
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
They walk or ride Rumateurs (which are alpaca-like beings with ossicones) or take ships or airships or trains. I don't like writing about travel that much though so it is a background element.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
I am pre-editing the first arc for my alpha readers and the third arc has another 50k to 100k words to draft. We're at like 250k words total right now and it is so unwieldy 😭😭😭
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
Oh, I have a convenient graphic for this. Hang on...
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
I was just diatribing about this earlier but the DREAM is to turn it into an RPGmaker adventure game and have it go viral and make a million bucks off it. I'd love to be the next Undertale but it'll never happen because I am not positioned to be the next Undertale, you know?
So yeah, that's what's what! Thanks again for the ask! This was so fun! I'm gonna pass this to @maiemorrae, @moonfeatherblue, @zebee-nyx, @winterandwords, @modernwritercraft, @words-after-midnight, @spideronthesun, @theprissythumbelina, @thepanplate, @thetruearchmagos, @maskedemerald, @moondust-bard, @pluttskutt and @emelkae 😍😍😍 I actually internalized Verba's WIP so well from this tag and I wanna make sure I'm updated on what all you cool people are working on! Open tag to any of my other moots too! 🥳
IMPORTANTTTTT⚠️
I will edit this to have a blank easily copy-and-pasteable question section when I get back to my computer. If I forget, @ me!

My music year, top 10 artists and top 10 tracks. Sharing from my LastFM stats bc they are a lot more accurate than Deezer's (it doesn't count tracks you upload yourself and I have a lot of those)
No surprise at who completely took over 2024 lmao 💛KajYuki & her projects, especially Kalafina, inspired me a lot to create new OCs earlier this year (drizzle/LAND ☔💙)
#Botanic Panic#lmao also lets talk about how I have Frozen Starfall (House/trance Touhou fancover project)#and Michael Kiwanuka (heavily influenced by 70's prog rock)#and Eluveitie (Swiss Folk Metal) in the same list lmao

Hellooo!!!
For the good omens ask game :D
Fly ~ queen ~ turtleneck ~ hot chocolate
You're not pulling any punches there!
fly - tell us a secret. shh it's okay we won't tell anyone (except all of tumblr)
When I was in kindergarten, I accidentally puked on the teacher's chair and blamed it on a boy who kept getting sick all day (seeing him was what made me sick in the first place). I'm going to hell, aren't I?
queen - top 5 favorite bands/artists
Tbh that changes a lot over time, but generally: Within Temptation, Spiral Dance, Damh the Bard, Kalafina, Nightwish (both old and new)
turtleneck - show us (or draw) your hottest outfit
I don't think I've had a "hot" outfit for the past decade. I prefer comfy. This one's from 13 years (…and 40kg) ago, but I hope it'll do:
Yep. I was edgy. No need to tell me ;P
hot chocolate - what's your comfort drink/food?
Food - sushi or ice cream. Drink - actually hot chocolate :D Or matcha latte

do you know any music like Kalafina?
anything produced by Yuki Kajiura, obviously, but i also find that KOKIA has a lot of songs akin to it. Mili also have a lot of that vibe to them, and some of Susumu Hirasawa's stuff, too

All the Kalafina drama is making me so angry. People spent YEARS spamming Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru with how much we miss Kalafina. (I do, too! But lt rubs me the wrong way that people can't respect their will). Now they offer a concert so we can enjoy their music once more, and all they got is a massive amount of hate.
They probably posted the announcements expecting a happy reaction, but they got so many attacks and mean comments... I feel so so bad for them.
I actually understand Kajiura. It's heartbreaking that she (most likely) found out via twitter/news instead of being told by someone. She has all the right to be furious. And I 100% respect her decission and support it.
However, she shouldn't have made a post like that. Her feelings are valid, but when you have such a big following, you should be more careful with your public statements. She should have talked about it privately first. She should have listened to the girls' reasons. Because I feel no one had ill intentions, and all of this was just a massive misunderstanding.
Even if she tried to sound less harsh on her next tweets, at that point there was so much damage done already.
I'm sure Kajiura's intentions were not bad either, she just shared how she genuinely felt. But the way it was worded blew things out of proportion.
"they're trying to remove Kajiura from the project" "they're replacing Kajiura" "they think they are better than her" mmm no???? All that was announced was a anniversary live. No one mentioned resuming "full time" activities. Nor releasing new music. It was wrong no one contacted Kajiura earlier, but as far as we know, no one is "stealing" her project.
For me, it's more like a tribute live. A tribute for her 10 years of work, and a tribute for us.
I agree Kajiura is the one who created and shaped Kalafina's identity. I dont think there's another group with such an unique and varied discography.
For me the best Kalafina era music-wise was 2008-10. I agree back them the girls were more like Kajiura's "instruments", and Kalafina was Kajiura.
But I feel with time girls grew so much. They became Kalafina. Their stage presence and charisma were a big part of the success of the group.
In fact, most anime tie-ins since 2010 (besides Meguca), the one they became popular for, are pretty bland and generic songs. What made them special was the way they performed it and how they shone in stage.
Imo Kalafina became "mainstream" not (just) because of the quality of Kajiura works, but because of the girls. (don't get me wrong, she does have a lot of great works.... But the anisongs are not one of them).
In fact, I dont enjoy as much FJ lives. Despite Joelle/Yuriko/Kaori being much better/stable vocalists than Wakana and Hikaru, the vibe is completely different and (for me) not as enjoyable. Kajiura is still my fave composer and all the girls are great..... But Hikaru/Keiko/Wakana work too well.
Also, I don't think it's fair to talk as if girls "owe" everything to Kajiura. They gave her their best years, the best moments of her voices. Hikaru and Wakana lost their chance to became solo artists when they were on their best.
They're all adults, that's the decisions they made and no one is to blame about them. But my point is, both parts put a lot of work into the project. It's not like Kajiura was some charity who wanted to help them, they worked their asses and they *deserved* to be part of the group.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't want to shit on Kajiura, I think she's a genius and the one who made everything possible. But the girls don't deserve to be treated as if they were less than her.
This is not about picking a side, but about respecting everyone.
