I love Spirk as much as the next person but some of yall act like they threw the first brick at Stonewall
#so many people seem to legitimately believe that like. Spirk was deliberately written and acted to be a romantic relationship#and that they pioneered queer representation#and like. sure Spirk was where slash fic was born#but its very important to remember that thats it#they were not deliberately written to be romantic#in the original source material they are not deliberately nor canonically together in a romantic sense#im saying this as somebody who ships it hard like im begging yall to remember that its a fandom thing and not a canon thing#you cannot be out here with takes like 'the Kelvin verse is homophobic because they made Kirk and Spock antagonistic at first'#that is fandom brain rotting like you are in too deep and you need to go outside#you cannot be getting mad that your ship that was never going to be canon isnt canon#thats not the fault of any writers or any directors they are not obligated to make any pairing canon no matter how popular it is#like sorry to anybody who thinks theyre actually going to make Spirk canon at any point but you are kidding yourself#and them not being canon isnt. a bad thing#since when did ships NEED to become canon#just have fun in your sandbox

Is there an "official" Spirk manifesto? Clearly, about Prime Spock and Jim, because I know the ship was born in the 70's, but I'm new in this ship, so... You know so much about it.
I just went looking on the original Ship Manifesto community, and I found that Killa made a lovely K/S manifesto, Where No One Had Slashed Before. It’s from 2004 so I can’t guarantee that any of the resource links work – they probably don’t – but the discussion of canon is great, as is the list of Top 10 episodes, which I basically concur with. (I think that as the films go my tastes run toward the II/III/IV trilogy in terms of shippiness; while TMP has some great K/S moments I find it very hard to actually watch because it is… not a very good movie.)
If you’re looking for fic recs, I think you should definitely start with all of Killa’s fic. Other than that, it depends what your taste in fic is. I imprinted really early on Greywolf’s Songs of the Dirhja series – I am pretty sure it was brand-new when I was getting into the pairing – but I acknowledge that Orion slavefic h/c may not be for everyone. Aldora89′s fic feels just like watching the show only more gay. If you’re looking for a massive slow-burn fic with all the pining that you could want, you should read eimeo’s Spice which is 275,000 words set (IIRC) mostly in the “lost years” between the end of the five-year mission and the events of TMP.
I mean, I realize you didn’t ask me for recs, but, hey… you can have some recs anyway. :D
