i've never ever gotten into any drafting/tournament/collectable card games, but i accidentally got myself the rookie spot in a championship for an indie mech-battling card & dice game (PBL Robots) tomorrow by beating one of the title-holders on my second time playing... oops?

#i've played 3 times and i just wanna play more #you build and level-up armor on your mech!! and attack you opponents armor to blow it up!!#super cool card art and little bits of lore on each of them #a group of guys from portland released it in 2014 and have been doing little tournaments at local cons #and i played 3 times and ended up with the most points for the rookies of the day completely accidentally #i was just walking by their table at the con after my afternoon game and saw cool robots #the guys were all super nice and keot saying how cool it was that i picked it up so quick #and like yeah i love deckbuilding games! creating cool synergies between cards is so much fun! and now that i've actually seen all the cards #i have a way better idea of what to actually fucking do to play 'well'!#i have no interest in winning a tournament i just wanna play smashy robots more!!!!#pbl robots #<- probably never used before but it's highly likely i'll ramble about it more tomorrow #board games #card games #board gaming convention #stochastic ramblings
