I have complicated feelings about pirate aus because on paper its a great concept but also the history of piracy can't be separated from the slave trade so

#i need to up my suspension of disbelief to the maximum if its not like fantasy piracy #and like either they're atacking regular merchant ships and killing a whole lot of pretty much inocent people #which. you know. doesnt work if you want your characters to be good people #or theyre attacking slaving ships and suddently the story gets very dark and real because now its a topic that has to be adressed #because you cant just introduce the slave trade a be like 'alright moving on'#but it also feels wrong to have it in a story that was supposed to be just idk fluffy found family fic
