apart from the fact that being of the opinion ‘contributing to fandom at 30 is embarrassing’ is embarrassing only for the people (guaranteed to be aged 12-20 almost exclusively) who actually think that
man, I’m turning 30 next year; I’ve been in fandom since I was 12. If there’s one thing I’m happy about it’s that I will still be contributing to fandom at 30—I’m churning out my best fic/discourse/version of myself yet, so imagine what another year is gonna bring.
full disclosure I likely was of the same (loser) opinion when I was….. 12. but I also had a lot of loser opinions when I was 12. bc I was 12. the people who taught me the ropes as a snot nosed child were mostly older than 20. they taught me fandom etiquette, history, and brought me into the fold. I’m absolutely a better contributor for those people.
tl;dr shading fandom contributors bc they’ve lived longer than yr 14-18 years on earth is embarrassing, but if you’re nice some cool fandom elder is gonna teach u that! so thank f*ck for all ‘older’ fandom contributors—countless corners of the internet are all the better for them. entering my personal fandom elder!era fresh unbothered moisturized and in my lane

No "show results", if you're not a fanfic writer just be patient.
I saw a post about an anon saying it was embarrasing to have an ao3 account in your 30s (it's absolutely not), so I want to do a poll and see what the age range actually is.
#whichever loser fandom kid made me want to write ‘respect yr elders’ for the first time ever#I will find you#and I will look fwd to hearing yr opinion on the same subject#when u turn 30#fr tho y’all respect yr fandom elders#they’re braver than the troops#also#if I left fandom earlier than early 20s#when I became a decent writer#and left my moots w only my cringiest writing to remember me by?#that would have come back to haunt me#hashtag Fandom Discourse#ddelline’s fandom elder blog
