I see no one talk about this but what makes obx so great is the soundtrack and music. I love how during the scenes with the pogues, the music is always positive and somehow, it always perfectly captures the essence and feeling of friendship. In comparison, during the more mysterious scenes, the music is more thriller based and I honestly just love that. Like, the background music just screams that this is a teenage TV show (if yall get what I mean).

Ep 2 is here now and I gotta say, the fact that Lata just finds all things monster fascinating is my fav thing cuz that is just me. Her playing with the jaw of the zombie was adorable and I wish i could've done the same. Carlos finding it disturbing just added to the charm of the whole scene.

Millie immediately yelling at John before he even got the chance to exit the car was oof, big oof. Mainly cuz it reminded me of my own mother's control tendencies. And because of that, I also tend to try and understand her point: admittedly John could've died and she wouldn't have know anything til after the fact. I get that fear, especially after the 2 years of no contact and likely a not good break before that with John at war. But fuck if she didn't just make it way harder for John to ever try bridging that gap or learning actual skills on dealing with conplex shit like that because she was just unreasonable about it all and taking it out on him. And the fact that La Tunda is actually calm when talking to John later is sooo interesting. I can't say she was nicer than Millie, cuz she wasn't but it def counts as another of those [insert crowley here saying :so my demons were too polite?] moments. I just found it all soo interesting and I have to add thay sadly her story at the end of the episode where she tells John about her and Henry's dealing with arguements doesnt actually help her case too much because of how she reacted initially. All thay teaches John is that he can take out his fear on others and then smooth it over with an "ull understand when ure older/had kids/been through similar shit" she is somply not constructive at all. But it a bit of an improvement because she, i believe, meant it as an explanation and apology despite it sounding as an excuse to me.

John being clearly not a pro at hunting or even just the type of fighting style hunting requires (and especially with a group of hunters) sent me. It's soo good. And it just makes me think of SPN!John learning to hunt and with the trauma of Mary's death it suddenly seems like even more reasons he didn't engage with a hunter's network. He just isn't a team player in that sense, he's too hyperfocused on his own fight that he loses sight of anyone else, and more than that, he had to have learned to adjust the fighting style he'd known to something that would work for hunting. It was basically ego and refusal to change, surpise surprise. TW!John tho keeps trying even after he fucks up, and while Im sure the constatly getting splashed with monster guts isnt fun, he doesn't have the same hang ups about not being perceived as indestructible. He essentially rolls with the punches and learns and is allowed to have flaws on display. Its not the pedestal SPN!John is put and puts himself on.

Mary's bullheadedness is absolutely fantastic in an extremely frustrating way. She is so fixated on getting through the case as fast as possible so she can get back to finding her dad that I actually got some season 1 Sam vibes from her this episode. I will say I find it soo interesting we got a John focus, cuz we all know the Cambells aren't that off for La Tunda to go for. Carlos giving her a pep talk about it and also admonishing her for her behaviour is def deserved and just top notch friendship tbh. As is the Cabaret gag with Mary, Carlos and Lata. It shows in a small but important way that these 3 def have a history and it's a long and intricate one. And u see even more later after John gets taken. It's in the way they talk to each other even in a high stress situation. Also Mary ackowledging she fucked up and thanking Caelos at the end... ughhhh I love growth.

Ada get to show off a bit more in this one, her scrying was genuinely sooo good, like this episode does a fantastic job of making you ask yourself what is actually up with Ada, whats her deal?? Because on the one hand, she recognized the flower off the top of her head and helped Lata instantly, on the other hand the way the scrying was shot was almost unnearving. And im not sure if it's cuz spn got me/us used to seeing scrying done by villains or as a subterfuge tactic or what, but yea, it added another air of mystery to Ada. And then u you have her conversation with Millie which has a hell of a ripple effect cuz I genuinely believe it's that converation that led to her actually trying with John at the end a bit. It's not solving anything broken there yet, but it does help. And adding ehat we know of about Ada's past to this makes me cry cuz shes just trying to prevent Millie from making the same mistake she had basically.

Carlos was more mediator this episode. Between the Lata and Carlos show (as per usual their friendship is everything to me) and seeing the complexity of that relationship as it stands and their dynamic with each other, to lecturing Mary on her behaviour, to just being highly competent at the job overall. Like they might not have done too much in the foreground, but damn if it wasn't a shitton of background work there. You can tell here that for all the "Im a solo act " bravado, Carlos is actually very much a team player and it's due to the emotional inteligence they have thats on full display here, in their usual jokey manner of course, that thats the case.

Aaaannd we get the 1st mention of Betty in this. I won't touch on that in this one but I like Betty a lot.

The end of this episode is my fav thing. Because it's pizza and joking and hanging out beside having the plot move forward once Ada brings up what shes been up to this episode. And still the focus isn't on the demon memories, but on them bonding. Uhhhh I love it.

We also have the 1st glimpse of the Akrida and if you were skulking around here when the show was airing in autumn u know I think the Akrida are adorable and I want a plushy with them. So the pure joy the shot of who we now know is likely Roxy with all them little critters around gave me cannot be overstated.

This ep def is much better paced than the Pilot, and also just lays clear the main there of this show, which is intergenerational trauma. It literally slaps u with it, it's front and centre and will continue to be shown in its many varried forms as the show progressed and I fucking love it for that because ultimately that is what Dean is doing here, beside once more saving the world. He is like i said, woeking through his own intergenerational trauma through these young versions of his parents that haven't yet had more trauma pilled onto them.

* backstory. > many people know of yuanjun, but few people truly know him. he's the famous kong families’ son, heir to the kong legacy, now forward position for south korea men’s national hockey team - which brought forth a ton of international fame from back home and amongst hockey lovers worldwide. while his talent is undeniable, he is long overshadowed by his families’ accomplishments, forever reminded that he’d never be the perfect son they’d hoped for, and no one ever lets him forget it.

> being the child of business tycoons who’s art business seemed to never be on the decline, tended to lend itself to an unconventional, pretty lonely childhood. 

> although jun no longer wants to dabble in the stupid shit he probably did as a teen, and escape from their home in a childish fit of rage and make the lives of the various nannies that tended to him while his parents were off being great hell, he still wonders sometimes whether this profession is what he would’ve wanted if he’d just not wanted to spite his parents. he loves hockey - that fact is undeniable. he thanks the nanny who took him there once out of necessity to stop his whining, and he fell in love with it almost instantly. but he also questions whether he gravitated to it because it was something he could throw himself into wholeheartedly to fill a void.

> working in a fast, stressful, highly coveted job such as pro-sports is a full time job and then some; jun doesn't spend much time not working on it. outside of his schedule, he likes bettering his stamina at the gym and eating healthy. he likes being surrounded by authentic people or nobody at all. he’s not one for trying new things and having new experiences due to time management, tending to stick to a schedule.

> he gets a lot of bad press though, which is beginning to weigh a little heavy on him. doubly now the murder has people talking. from being accused of performance-enhancing pills, various personality scandals, to being linked with ‘dating’ (see: ruining the image of) idols and chaebol’s alike. right now, he’s currently battling a lot of unwanted publicity because of a misunderstood interaction online against a wealthy sweetheart that went sour. 

> while jun might be generally unsympathetic and analytical when it comes to developing relationships with people that’ll last long-term, he's a bleeding heart when it comes to kids who may have experienced the same lonely upbringing as he did, without the financial gains. right now he spends sunday’s teaching a bunch of local foster home kids how to skate, and is trying to fund a couple of sports scholarships for those who show promise under a fake name, just generally being a good ‘ole guy.

> his family do not approve of his job, ofc. in fact neither of his parents have ever attended any of his matches to this day, and are only on semi-decent terms with him because jun begrudgingly is still tied by name to the business and shows his face at events for all of 30 minutes until he physically can no longer maintain pleasantries. his celebrity image perhaps is one thing they can manipulate, and even then, jun could get into scandals galore and still be doing his job. good press, bad press, it has the kong’s family name at the forefront of peoples’ minds, which always brings forth revenue.  

> pros: could be a lot worse considering his upbringing, collected, and level-headed most of the time. wicked good at sports, and keeps a cool head in a tough situation. ambitious, curious, a little reckless. eager to prove himself, rich? and very endeared to people/places he finds fascinating. which are many. knows where the good, authentic chinese cuisine is. hardworking and very interested in the idea of Progress.

> cons: the most private person alive, will not divulge any palatable information about himself or his feelings. devil's advocate always. will put himself and others at an arm’s length the second he feels (disgusted noises) e-emotions (love, namely). gets bored easily. paranoid, leads with the head more than the heart. friends > > > family. a little self-involved, never fucking sleeps - will be that neighbour you can hear padding around above your apartment at 3.05 am like it’s mid-day, aaaaand Loves Winning Above All Else

* personality & relationships.

> like many others, jun has his fair share of surface-level friends. he’s quick to be interested in people, to get to know them better, but it's difficult for him to get closer than that after a childhood of being picked up and dropped by those who looked over him - which kinda has left him with abandonment issues.

> he’s a curator of neat things that aren’t too overtly complex, and that includes friendships. so if you have something unusual about you, whether it's a talent or a way of thinking, he would be inclined to get to know you better. also, he has a lot of leverage with his job. being friends with a sports star slash million dollar trust fund baby who can get you free shit never hurts, just don’t befriend him for the perks, yanno?

well, usually i dont like comparing other ships, i love them all, they are all sweet and cute but i will do what you told me.

disclaimer: this is my opinion and my point of view, people can agree and disagree and in no way my intentions are for hurting other people. and also, there may be some things that can trigger people bc i am gonna mention a small thing about cutting and suicide.

v/kook’s and ji/kook’s dynamic are very different in my eyes. i see v/kook as brotherly love, really good friendship and all the good stuff, while ji/kook is the kind of relationship youll see when two of your friends have a crush on each other.

jealousy:

v/kook is goofy, fun, out going, not a LOT of angst, and even thought there is possessiveness i see it more as a possessive everyone has on their friends. everybody experience jealousy when it comes to their friends laughing and having fun with other people but its not the same when it comes to their crush. the jealousy people usually feel towards their crushs the kind of jealousy that tells “ i want you to look at me, i want you to feel proud of me, i want to be the one you laugh with” and when you see them laughing, having fun and praising someone else, you prefer not to look at the whole situation.

this is what ji/kook is. you can see jungkook wanting jimin’s attention, and jimin want jungkook’s. everytime jungkook is making a joke that its purpose is to make people laugh, he always checking jimin’s reaction. when jimin is having skinship, fan service, moments, bromance what ever you want to call what the hell is going on between bangtan then jungkook is usually doing the mouth thingy and avert his eyes, and sometime being as aggressive as pushing the other memeber or jimin from each other. their body language is way more permenint when it comes to jealousy.

i watched some v/kook jealoudsy moments and its very different, the vibe is different, jungkook isnt so agrassive, he is jealous i admit that but its not like he prefer to walk out of the door and be mad, he recovers quite fast and goes on.

this time ill start with v/kook. v/kook share a lot of skinship but they do have boundaries. they have a lot of skinship but taehyung still holds the title hyung, still keeps that respective distance between a dongsang and a hyung. tae is a touchy person in general so im not that suprised, im the same as well. i dont think their skinship and intimacy is something so different from what all bangtan memebers share between them (which what makes me love bts even more). they care about each other a lot, dont get me wrong but its not the same. they are the kind of friends who will laugh at each other in the most awakwared moments and help each other in their worst moments, and that also how jikook works but in jikook theres sometime that awakwared feel you get when youre near your crush while v/kook are really open about everything and they got to the point in their friendship that shit doesnt matter anymore and thats what i love about them.

this is one of the things that makes jikook shippers ship them. they intimacy level is probably 193856338855/10. the iconic video of them back hugging and swaying to the music (the one with the white jackets) only proofs the physics intimacy. but their intimacy and relationship is beyond that, the glaces, and staring, the small touches, the amout of time jimin lets jungkook get away with not approching him with hyung. which indicate that they are really close, the different vibe they give when they are together and the memebers reaction everytime they are near one another. (the amout of times namjin had a really suspicious look on their faces when jimin and jungkook were together is countless) them always being close to one another (blame it on satelite jungkook),night time friends and how they care about each other even in the simpelest things, like in bon voyage when jimin coverd jungkook at night even though jungkook was supposed to sleep with ma bae yoongi at a separate room and at the end he slept on the sofa with jimin, or when not long ago in a bts vapp when they played a game and the punishment was JK hitting the member who fail ass but then jimin noticed JK’s hands were cold so he asked to change the punishment. another one is when JM got out of the hospital when he fainted on stage and JK was stuck to the jibooty the whole time. they know each other and along the way they were able to reacognize what the other was feeling only from looking at them. when JM thought he lost his phone in bon voyage and it was actually at JK, JK wanted to prank him but when he saw JM’s face he instantly gave him the phone. JK always knows when to stop when it comes to teasing JM and he also knows when to give him a complemant.

reaction to each other:

imma keep this one quick bc damn i wrote a lot and your head probably hurts already lol.

when one of the v/kook boys performe, show something, or talks, their reaction is normal, like every member in bts. nice and encouraging.

when one of the jikook boys is doing one of the stuff i mention, the other reaction will always be really supportive, caring and the loudest out of bts. not to also mention that they are too aware of each other to play it cool.

and now ill give a small rant about if jikook is actually real and they are in a secret relationship then why i believe their behavior is more suited to the situation:

lets just say for a moment that jikook is canon, and no one knows except the memebers and mangment.

if they are really in a relationship, they will try to hide it as much as they can.

 1. them living in not the most LGBTQ+ friendly country is a BIG ASS FACTOR.

 2. them being freaking famous, and having a small qummunity of sasaeng fans is also a problem. ( if you dont know or havent heard, everytime when there is a freaking rumor about a member dating someone even if its not true, people are going wild and there was even a hashtag on twitter CutForKookie when there was a really small rumor about him dating someone).

jikook being suspicious and not as open as other ships, make me believe that they are more real or have feeling towards each other. not only their body language but also most of their moments happen off cam/backstage and that indicate that it id NOT fanservice.

if it was fanservice it would be BIG and noticable and you can ask every korean that thats how fanservice go in there. memebrs and mangment trying to separate them is also a big evidence in my eyes. while v/kook is free, and no one seems to care if they are together’ when jikook is togetehr all eyes  (including namjins like i noted before) are on them. there isnt much outed  media persona over there and people who did came out experienced a lot of difficulties and many hate, even costed them their career and even some killed themselves unfornaly. (dont worry, Korea is slowly accepting and developing)
