Prompt 17 - Body
@jegulus-microfic March 17 Word count 964
Previous part First part
CW- Stabbing with a dagger and sword
With most of the day left, they thought they’d push their luck and try to talk to the Grey Lady.
They apparated into caves on the outskirts of Hogsmeade that Sirius told them about. Eight people apparating into Hogsmeade at the same time when, more than half of them were either death eaters or associated with them. Plus, they couldn’t risk being seen with James, Sirius or Lily.
“This is pretty cool,” Evan said in awe as he looked around the caves. “How did you find them?”
“Padfoot likes to wander off sometimes,” Sirius answered as he prepared to disapparate and get Pandora. Only he, James and Remus knew where the caves were to apparate into, so they had to side-along the others.
Regulus rolled his eyes. Of course, his brother was still a pain in his animagus form.
Once they were all gathered again, they cast disillusionment charms on themselves, apart from James, who had his invisibility cloak. They made their way into the village, muffling charms on their shoes in case anyone heard them.
They quietly broke into Honeydukes and went through the hidden trapdoor. They probably could have arranged an easier way into the castle, but that would require too much delay with Dumbledore. This way was far easier.
They walked quietly down the passageway, visible again, while no one could catch them.
Regulus fiddled with the dagger still in his robes pocket. He’d always loved it. It was small yet insanely sharp, easy to slice into your enemy’s body without them ever seeing it coming. He cast a few charms on it as they walked, checking to see if anything had been imbued into the blade. It appeared to be a perfectly ordinary knife with no special enchantments or poisons.
“Remus?” He asked as casually as possible.
“Yeah, Regulus?” Remus dropped back to walk beside Regulus.
“How are you with healing spells?” He asked, not looking at Remus.
“Capable. Madam Pomfrey showed me the basics growing up, and I’ve learnt a few more since. Why?’
“Hey, Sirius?” He called his brother over. Sirius bounced towards him. He was far too excitable for what they were on their way to do.
No sooner was Sirius in front of him, walking backwards with a stupid grin on his face, did Regulus’s hand shoot out and jab him in the side with the dagger. Sirius stopped and looked down.
“Regulus, what the shit?!” Remus rushed over and started casting disinfecting and healing charms on his boyfriend. He turned, his eyes glowing even in the low light.
“Explain!” He growled, keeping Sirius behind him and away from Regulus. Sirius’s disgruntled face popped around Remus’s shoulder.
“Is that Bella’s knife?” He asked, squinting in the low light.
“She said I could have it as long as I promised to use it on you. I was just fulfilling that promise. I checked it was just a knife before I stabbed you.” Regulus shrugged.
“Oh, and that makes it all better, does it?” Remus snarled. Regulus was seeing more and more of the wolf shining through.
“Reg, you are such a dick.” Sirius rolled his eyes at him but grabbed Remus and carried on walking.
“Regulus, why would you think that was okay?” James asked, sighing deeply at the situation.
“He gets it. I barely nicked him with it, and this way, I can tell Bella I got him with it, or she’ll know I’m lying. Plus, he stabbed me all the way through with a sword when he was 10. This is payback.” James had to stop.
“What do you mean he stabbed you with a sword?!”
“It was an accident. He set off a firework in the house, and it knocked over a suit of armour, and the sword sort of went through me.”
“You’re both absolutely nuts! Once this war is over, you are both going to see a mind healer and lots of therapy! All the therapy!” James strode off after the others, shaking his head.
The rest of their journey went off without any more mishaps. They disillusioned themselves again and headed towards the Ravenclaw Common room.
The Grey Lady was strangely easy to find. She was gliding along the corridor outside the spiral staircase which led to the Common room.
They had agreed that Pandora should be the one to talk to the ghost, as she’d spent the most amount of time around her as apparently she was shy.
“Hello, Helena,” Pandora’s airy voice filled the corridor even though she wasn’t speaking loudly. The ghost paused and stared at the blonde woman.
“You again?” Her voice faded in and out as she spoke. The others were shocked. They’d never heard the ghost talk before. Pandora beamed.
“Yes, me again. We were wondering if we could ask you about your mother’s diadem?” A change came over the ghost so quickly that James, Remus and Evan pushed their respective boyfriends behind them.
“Another asked about it, and he defiled it with dark magic!” She yelled, blasting through each of the people standing in the corridor. Regulus shivered with the chill from her passing. He stepped forward, watching her as she came to be still again.
“Please,” He pleaded. “We want to destroy it. We want to erase what he did. Will you help us?” Helena Ravenclaw floated to Regulus and stared into his face, only inches between them. Regulus stayed still, letting his mask slip away from his face and hoping the determined good intentions showed through.
She narrowed her eyes at him and moved closer, whispering in his ear, her cold breath freezing his ear slightly.
“It is here. In the room that changes with the broken and lost things.” Remus’s head snapped to look at Sirius. He knew where it was.

FIC- a radical brother
The night Sirius decides to run away as a teen, from Regulus's perspective.
rated pg-13 for language Words: 2336 A03
Their yelling had been going on for weeks, but this was the loudest he had ever heard it. Usually he just closed his door, turned up the wireless, and tried to ignore it; but this time, his curiosity got the better of him. He opened his door and crept up to the banister. From his landing he could see the shadows of his family displayed across the wall, illuminated by the fireplace.
"-and it makes me sick!" he heard Sirius yell.
Father muttered something Regulus couldn't hear. The conversation continued on for a while, and Regulus couldn't hear anything but the occasional "What?" or "No!" thrown in by Sirius. Regulus was not sure if he should risk being seen by climbing down the stairs to listen, but when he saw a small chair crash out of the den into the hallway, he had to know what was happening. He went down two flights, and from there he could hear Sirius yell:
"You're insane, the lot of you! You can't do this! My whole life is at Hogwarts!"
"We can and we will," said Father. He sounded angry. Angrier than Regulus had ever heard before.
"You're always with those blood-traitors and mudbloods. They keep planting immoral thoughts in your mind! They are nothing but filth, and we can not let our eldest son sully the Black name by associating with such fanatics anymore." Mum started crying. "You used to be such a good boy, and now you've become one of those mudblood loving radicals."
"They are not radicals."
"Oh yes they are! They are trying to upset our traditions, and take over our ministry, and destroy everything we pure Wizards and Witches hold dear! It's a war, Sirius, and you are supporting a sect of people that is brainwashing you! They are filth that need to be eradicated!"
"Can you actually hear yourself?"
"These radicals-"
"They're not radicals, you are!” Sirius snarled. “You just keep going on and on about 'purity' this and 'filth' that, but you're just scared because you know those muggleborns and half-bloods are going to be the future. The world is changing and they're part of it. Our 'pure blood’ is all going to be worth nothing and should be! They're here to stay, no matter what you and your lot fucking do!"
"You forget your place, Sirius," Father growled. "We're sending you to Durmstrang! That's all there is to it."
"Fat fucking chance!"
"That language he's using is just more of their filth, Orion!" his mother yelled. "You never spoke like that until you met those muggle-loving heathens! My eldest son-"
"I AM ONE OF THOSE HEATHENS!" Sirius bellowed. "I love muggles! Hell, I might even go bang one tonight so I can have little mudblood progeny to bring you on your birthday. You like that, Mum?"
A sudden 'smack' echoed in the hall. Regulus stifled his gasp as best he could. He heard Mum start crying in great heaving sobs.
"I just w-want my little boy back," she said in between breaths. She must have gone to touch Sirius, because he jerked away into the hallway.
"Don't you touch me. I'm fucking done," Sirius growled in a menacing way, before he turned and started walking up the stairs.
Regulus quickly ran back to his room, hoping no one noticed him eavesdropping. He closed his door, holding the knob so it wouldn't click. He settled down with his back to his door. None of this felt like his family.
Why couldn't Sirius just learn to shut his mouth and stop flying off the handle. Was he happy now? His mother was crying, his father was the angriest he had ever heard, and they were even threatening to send him away, all because of that mouth of his. No wonder he was put in Gryffindor. No Slytherin would be dumb enough to proudly spout off the way Sirius did. He was probably laughing to himself about how he had 'shown them!' What an idiot.
Regulus heard Sirius's footsteps as they reached the landing. Usually after one of their fights he would storm up the stairs, stomping his feet to emphasize how mad he was, and then he would slam his door so hard that the windows in Regulus's room would rattle. This time his footsteps were barely audible, and the door was shut with a small thud.
Regulus went to his desk to pick up his wand and cast a quick spell to overhear Sirius through the wall. He was not muttering to himself, or throwing things, or yelling. Regulus was not sure, but it sounded like Sirius was crying. It felt indecent to listen to his brother cry. He had not seen his brother cry more than a few times and all those times had all been well before Hogwarts or due to severe injury.
He was not sure what to do. Should he leave Sirius alone? Go in there and talk to him? Neither felt very comfortable. It was not like he and Sirius were particularly close.
When they were very young they only had each other for playmates. Well, he had Kreacher as well, but Sirius never much liked the elf so did not deign to play with him. When Kreacher was unavailable, and they were small boys, they would play with each other all the time. His brother would always stick up for him. When their cousin Bella would try to scare him, Sirius was there to defend him- though he usually would end up scaring Regulus too, it never seemed as cruel natured as Bella's taunts.
He remembered how Sirius would show his dumb bravery every time they would get in to trouble. One time Regulus bounced a ball onto the hearth and knocked over a priceless vase. Sirius wouldn't let him get in to trouble, and Sirius was the one who received a paddling, and was sent to bed without supper. Sirius never did rat out Regulus.
Ever since Sirius had gone to Hogwarts, things had begun to change. He had new friends. They were all radicals, who put no stock in being pure-blooded, which was absolute rubbish, as all of them except Lupin were purebloods. They had all the privilege of growing up pureblood, but pretended it didn't matter- the hypocrites. Sirius did not have time for his brother any more. They had barely talked the last year or so. And every time Sirius was home, it seemed all he did was fight with Mum, lately even involving their Father.
He had to admit, Sirius still occasionally looked out for him. When no one was about, a rare feat indeed for the popular Gryffindor, he would deign to talk to Regulus. It was never about anything of consequence, but it felt nice being acknowledged by his older brother. If only he was in Slytherin, then none of this would have happened.
"Come on, James! Are you there? Hello, hello? Dammit!" came Sirius's voice through the wall.
Perhaps his brother had a psychotic break and was talking to himself, but Regulus doubted it. What was he up to? Was James outside on a broom or something? How could Sirius have contacted him so quickly?
His curiosity thoroughly piqued, and his unwelcome sympathy for his brother becoming overwhelming, Regulus decided to tickle two dragons with one spell and see just what his brother was up to.
He gave a perfunctory knock before opening the door. Sirius was on his bed and quickly hid something shiny under a pillow, while wiping at his face with his other hand. His back was to the door.
His room was every bit as gaudy and unappealing as it always had been, with glaring Gryffindor colors, posters of scantily clad Muggle women on the walls, and pictures of Potter and his lot on the wall. Regulus hovered on the other side of the bed, not really wanting to see the tear stained face of his brother.
"What are you doing in here?"
Sirius sounded thoroughly defeated.
"Checking on you," Regulus said stiffly.
"Yeah right. More like satisfying your curiosity. 'What's that crazy muggle-loving brother of mine up to?'" he said with a wet inhale through his nose.
Regulus could never have been a Gryffindor. They were far too keen to say the things you're never meant to say. That, and their colors were nothing short of decadent.
"I don't think Mum or Dad would ever really send you to Durmstrang, if that's what is upsetting you."
"They've already put down a deposit and set up a port key for August, Reg," Sirius said with a snort.
"If you were to just take down this Muggle garbage and shut it for a few weeks, maybe they'd reconsider, then," said Regulus impatiently.
He had never known anyone more stubborn and idiotic than his brother. They had been threatening him with being shipped off to Durmstrang for years, now, and all he had to do was shut his trap and stop baiting them.
"Honestly, Sirius, I know you enjoy rebelling, but this is just out of hand. What's the purpose of all this? You keep antagonizing Mother and Father, and then seem genuinely surprised when they lash back."
Sirius let out a bark of a laugh.
"You honestly don't know shit. You don't get it at all. They support that Voldemort freak, throw benefits for 'the pureblood cause' and are just a bunch of racists, really. How can that not get you even slightly galled, Reg."
"I support the-"
"Pureblood cause. You're completely brainwashed by them, and don't even know it."
"Just because I agree with them doesn't mean I'm brainwashed. I've read plenty of articles from both sides of the argument. I came to this decision on my own."
"Sure you did," said Sirius with a derisive laugh.
"Stop laughing at me! That's your problem. You think everything is just one big joke. Putting up those posters and strutting around like you're proud of being a Gryffindor. It hurts Mum every time you start in with that crap, and you don't even care." Regulus marched up to Sirius and spun him around. He let out a small gasp when he saw Sirius's face. There was a bruise forming on it, and in the center of the bruise was a deep scratch bleeding down the side of his cheek.
"What?" asked Sirius, before going to the mirror. And inspecting his face, wincing as he gently poked his cheek bone. "Shit!"
"Does that hurt?"
"Of course it hurts, you sod," Sirius bit out.
"Maybe I can help."
"Fuck off, Reg" said Sirius, pushing past him and grabbing his school trunk. He started opening drawers and stuffing belongings into it.
"Don't you think it's a little early to pack for Durmstrang? Look, if you just try, I bet you can fool them into thinking you've changed your ways. I can help you."
"I'm not a coward!" Sirius growled nonsensically, slamming the door to his dresser.
"It's not cowardly to make sure you get to stay at Hogwarts no matter how. That's just smart."
"Only a Slytherin needs to make those kind of distinctions... Look, I'm not going to pretend to be something I'm not, Reg. I'm through with all of this shit. I'm leaving."
"Don't be daft," Regulus said with an incredulous laugh. Sirius just looked at him with the most somber expression he'd ever seen on his brother's face. A reeling panic settled in his stomach. "You can't mean that. You're just sixteen! You don't have any place to go."
"I'll find a place."
"With what money?"
"I'll get a job."
"Where?"
"I don't know, ok?" said Sirius, his eyes starting to get watery again. "But I can't be around these people any more."
Regulus took a step back, holding his breath. Sirius might as well have cursed him. He felt a hollow grow within in his chest.
“I’m one of ‘these people’ you’re leaving,” said Regulus, his voice a studied calm.
Sirius looked at the floor and gave a shrug.
They stood in front of each other, neither able to find the words to say to each other. Regulus suddenly felt his throat grow tight, and knew if he stayed much longer he might put on an indecorous display of emotions.
“Then… Then go… Stay with Potter or whoever… I don’t care,” Regulus let out, before turning away and slamming the door behind him. He went to his room and curled into himself, his back against the door for the second time that evening.
His eyes burned with tears, but he wiped at his face and stubbornly refused to let them fall of their own accord. If Sirius cared so little about him, he would be damned if he’d care about his brother. He slowly got up, purposefully comported himself to calmness, changed his clothes and went to bed.
The next morning he pointedly avoided Sirius’s bedroom. He had no desire to talk to his brother right now. Maybe they could discuss all this nonsense later. Perhaps he needed a different tactic to change Sirius’s mind, or maybe he could discuss it with their parents and help them see that Hogwarts really was the best place for Sirius to finish his education.
He went downstairs and could smell smoke in the air. He looked around for its source, then saw it wafting from the family tapestry. Where Sirius’s name had once shone alongside his own, there was now a smoldering hole.
Feeling a real of panic, Regulus immediately ran up the stairs, willing it not to be true. Sirius would be there, sleeping in as always, they would have a row about Reg invading his room, and it would all go back to how it always was.
He didn’t bother knocking, before opening Sirius’s door. He hoped to hear brother’s protest, but heard nothing at all. The room was silent. The drawers were empty. The closet was empty. Sirius’s trunk was gone.
His brother was gone, and he’d never be back again.
A/N- If you liked it, let me know :)

Respectfully, I see your point but I feel like their Friendship could have manifested (and be interpreted) in many different ways.
Speaking of Snape's trauma triggers and Harry. I believe it would have been different had the Potter's not have died on Halloween. It seems like that was the tipping point for Severus Snape. His friend, although they weren't on "friendly" or speaking terms, died. Gone. Forever. No accidentally bumping into them at Diagon Alley. No seeing them evolve in their career and expand their family. Gone. Forever and I think that it really messed him up (more than he was so previously.) Harry not only reminded Severus of James Potter but also of the death of his best friend, Lily Evans, whom he feels as though died because of his actions. Guilt and Anger that goes unchecked does some really not nice things to a person's mental health and affects the way they act in certain situations.
(Not defending Severus for treating Harry the way he treated him.)
Now, since Lily was still alive and like... They weren't death eaters yet I feel like Severus would have been a different person, not too different, but he wouldn't be as... Severus as he was in the Golden Trio Years, yk?
Back to Regulus and Severus, I see them as "friends" (perhaps ally would be a more appropriate word) out of spite and similar feelings about Sirius.
Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor and had very strong feelings about Slytherins, most being derogatory. He wouldn't be caught dead associating with a Slytherin (the enemy), not even his own brother or his cousins.
So what does Severus do? He hits his enemy where it hurts. His deteriorating relationship with his brother. He doesn't quite befriend him because he looks too much like Sirius for his tastes but he does entertain a civil relationship with the younger black brother. I would assume that similar interests in Dark Magic would also be a positive in their Friendship.
Regulus on the other hand is a bit more tricky, we essentially know nothing about his character. I would say that he could have possibly felt betrayed by his brother like the rest of the black family did. His brother, the boy he grew up with, flying brooms, playing gobstones, etc, was in Gryffindor and it felt like he was operating on an entirely different plane of existence from him (reg). He seemed to be worlds away with people who were more like him and to get even worse, he was happy. He was happy and he enjoyed being there.
So what does Regulus do? He makes friends in his own house as well. Him and Snape probably didn't operate in the same groups but they had mutual friends and acquaintances so of course their paths would cross.
Maybe they got along, maybe they didn't. It's all up to the perception of the reader and the author.
Snape being friends with Regulus is a common headcanon that I don't really see happening. Snape hated Harry because he looked like James and was a trauma trigger. Sirius is just as much of a trigger as James, if not more so. And according to Harry Regulus looks like a less handsome version of his brother (though admittedly Harry is inconsistent when it comes to R.A.B's appearance, it changes once he finds out his betrayal). So I highly doubt that they'd be friends. This is without even taking into account the age difference, Regulus being a pureblood, and the fact that a relationship isn't mentioned anywhere. The first two of these three aren't insurmountable as seen by Snape's relationship with Lucius (though even then I think that there's more than one viable interpretation of that relationship beyonf friendship), but the latter really is a big factor

BASIC INFORMATION:
Name: Sirius Black Loyalty: Order Of The Phoenix House: Gryffindor Alumni Age: 19 Occupation: Looking For Work Blood Status: Pureblood Chosen Faceclaim: Kit Harington
KEY POINTS:
- Despite how people view Sirius he isn’t as happy as he likes to make people believe. For years now he’s suffered from depression and he tries his best to hide it. It’s not that he’s ashamed to admit how he feels. It’s that his Father always told him he needed to be strong and not show any signs of weakness or people will walk all over you. And even though he has left home that lesson has always stuck with him. So he would rather make people believe he is alright and happy than actually know the truth.
- The first year after Hogwarts closed Sirius needed something to keep his mind off the growing war and so he gave himself a project. Making his motorbike fly. Was it a good way to spend his time? Probably not. Could have been doing something more worthwhile? Definitely yes. But was it cool as hell? YES! He spent months trying to make the flying charm permanent when he wanted to take off but find a way to also keep it on the ground. It took him forever. But eventually he made it. And no he’s a badass that flights on a motorbike rather than a broom.
- He lives off of the money that he had took when he left home. Even though it is running out fairly fast he can’t find a job that he wants to do. Or can even stand to do. But he’s going to have to find something fast because the pile of Galleons isn’t going to last forever and he can’t just ask for more. So he is looking for work but more than likely he will never stick with the same job for very long.
BIOGRAPHY:
Sirius Orion Black was born on the 17th of November 1959 to Orion and Walburga Black and grew up as part of one of the most powerful wizarding families there is. At a young age, he learned how someone of his heritage should present himself and to this day he still carries that with him somewhat. He was born expected to be the heir to the Black family fortune and it wasn’t until he started at Hogwarts and started associating with “mudbloods and blood-traitors” did he question if he wanted to or not.
But even then at fairly young age, Sirius started to see that the way his family viewed others was wrong on some level. He couldn’t understand why they were to be treated any differently from anyone else. Though some of the influences that his family had on him did take effect. Being a part of one of the most powerful Wizarding families does go to a person’s head so he grew up believing that he was better than others. Not because of his blood but because of what his family name brought him. His family was rich, respected, and in some cases feared. He was constantly told how he should act, stand, eat, present himself, and sometimes he resented his mother for not allowing him to just be a normal kid. But still, if this was how he was supposed to act them so be it. He wanted to be accepted by his family and he often took his punishments in silence thinking on some level that he deserved it. Though as he got older he realised that it was in fact his mother that was wrong and not himself.
By the time it became time for Sirius to head off to Hogwarts he could hardly wait. He wanted to be as far away from his family as he could get and thinking that he wouldn’t have to see them for months on end made him happier than he thought possible. On the train ride there he met a boy named James Potter and if you had told him there and then that the two of them would become best friends he would have said you were nuts. The Blacks and the Potters didn’t get on very well, though that was, in fact, the reason he spoke to James in the first place, and imagining his mother’s reaction just made talking to the boy all the better. At the sorting ceremony Sirius was genuinely nervous, he didn’t want to be a part of Slytherin but seeing as his whole family was in there it seemed inevitable that he would as well. So when he put on the Sorting Hat and it whispered “Good luck. You’ll need it” he sat there in shock when it had shouted out Gryffindor and took him a minute before he could move. Due to his cousins being there it didn’t take long for the Howler from his mother to arrive but he barely even listened to it as he sat on his new bed with red sheets and couldn’t believe his luck and he marvelled in not being completely like his family.
That night he met two other boys that would also become his best friends, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, and although it took him a while to get used to different classes of wizards his views that they weren’t any different solidified with time. And the more friends he made the more different he became. And the more he started to like who he was. And when it came down to a choice, his friends or the Dark Mark, he ran from home without looking back at the age of sixteen and he never looked back.
Now, many years later, he has left Hogwarts and has more things to worry about than what his family thinks of him. There is the war, his rapidly shrinking bank account, figuring out to live on his own, and coming to terms with the fact some of the people he used to call friends were now turning on each other. Life was hard, but he was happy for the most part. Even in he was scared of what the future holds. (wiki page [x])
CONNECTIONS:
JAMES POTTER/REMUS LUPIN/PETER PETTIGREW - BEST FRIENDS, Sirius views them as more like brothers. They have been there for him more than anyone else ever has and he is forever thankful for that. He would do anything for them and he is quick to defend them if anyone ever dares to say or do anything to hurt them. He honestly doesn’t know where he would be today if it weren’t for his fellow Marauders. MARLENE MCKINNON - ON/OFF RELATIONSHIP, His relationship with Marlene is one that brings much frustration for his friends. Because it’s obviously that he loves her. To everyone but Sirius that is. But no matter how he feels he doesn’t think he deserves someone like Marlene. So instead of being smart and staying away from her he tortures himself by being as close to her as she’ll let him. There’s just something about her that doesn’t let him stay away and maybe one day he will finally come to terms with the fact it’s because he’s in love with her. REGULUS BLACK - BROTHER, The only thing that Sirius regrets when leaving home is leaving his brother behind. He misses him far more than he ever lets on and he worries about Regulus on a daily bases. But he knows it’s better for Reg if he keeps his distance. He doesn’t want his brother getting into trouble if they are seen together which means they barely see each other. But when they do Sirius likes to check in with him. If Regulus will let him that is. ANDROMEDA TONKS - COUSIN. LOOKS UP TO, Andromeda is one of the reasons that Sirius found it so easy to leave. Because if she could do it, the so could he. He loves her so much and he is so thankful that he can still have her in his life. It’s a little easier having her around, having at least one member of his family that doesn’t hate him. That and he just thinks she’s cool as hell.
