A Queen’s Vengeance

"Adrienne run! Run honey!" —mom said. "No! I won't leave you here mom!" —I responded. "But you need to, they need you honey. I love you, please run." —mom said while crying. I know what she means, and I don't have any choice but to run. "Please live mom, I'll be waiting for you." I emotionally responded. I looked back and there I saw my mom fighting 5 men, 4 of them are wearing black cloaks while the other one wears red. They're releasing dark energies on their body, the man wearing red cloak releases darker energy. I bet he's their king. My knees are trembling, my face paled in fear, I was crying and praying for my mom's safety. My feet brings me to nowhere, it's getting dark and I had no place to go. I sat down under a big tree. I heard footsteps coming from my left, I'm sure that it's heading towards my direction. I was taken aback when someone grabs my arm and pulled me up. I close my eyes, I don't want to open my eyes because I'm scared. I'm scared that I might get killed, my hands are shaking. I can feel my knees are getting weaker, and my head suddenly hurts like hell and last time I checked... everything went black. "Honey run!" "Where's your daughter Clara? Just tell me where and I'll let you live." "I won't tell you, even if it cost my life." "Then die you worthless creature! I'm gonna find your daughter all by myself. Die!" I wake up; gasping for air. Inhale.. exhale it's just a dream Adrienne. A bad dream. I closed my eyes to calm myself, when the truth is I was restraining my tears. I got back to my senses when someone slammed the door. And there, I saw a man. A very beautiful man, he has a tan skin, long eyelashes, pointed nose, an intense green eyes and a very kissable-- What?! Am I checking him out? But his eyes.. those intense green eyes really caught my attention, it's hypnotizing. "Are you feeling better?" —his voice is very calm and yet sounds so manly. "Ehem." And it hits me.. who is this guy?! "W-who are you? Why did you brought me here? Are you going to kill me?" I asked hysterically. "I'm Lucas, the knight of the Queen. I am your knight, and it is my duty to protect you, your highness. Your mom, which happens to be the former queen of Alkia, ask me to protect you and be your knight." W-what? My mom is a queen? wait.. "Where's my mom? What happened to her?" — I asked. “I’m sorry,I tried to saved her. But its too late when I get there, I found her lifeless body on the ground.” He responded not looking at me. “W-where is her body?” I asked stopping myself to sob. I bit my lips. “ I already burned her body. I’m sorry your highness.” He bowed his head and left the room. I lost words to say, my emotions are overflowing, fear, pain, and anger. That’s it, I burst out and cry my heart out. I can feel the tension inside my body, there it is again. My power wants to come out but I keep on stopping it because I can’t control it yet. But still, small amount of my power escaped and I can feel my eyes change its color. The door opened, and I saw a little girl looking at me jawdropped and wide-eyed. I wiped my tears. “Q-queen” she said with her little voice. She bowed her head giving me respect like I am really the queen. Am I really the queen? ‘Kid, what are you doing?” I walked towards her, she looked at me innocently, I noticed that she has the same eyes with Lucas, maybe they’re siblings. Unconsciously, I smiled at her. I saw her shocked expression and later replaced with joy. She’s smiling ear to ear showing her perfect set of teeth. I hold her little hand and guided her to sit on the bed. “What’s your name little girl?” she smiled and said— “I’m Cara, Queen” she replied. Cara has a pretty face; smooth skin, intense green eyes, light blonde hair that curls at the end like the wind was playing with it. She’s smiling and it gives me warm inside. “Why do you keep calling me Queen?” — I asked. “Because my brother told me that you’re the queen, his queen.” She smiled again touching my face with her little hand. After a few seconds the door opened, “Brother!” Cara run towards Lucas, she hugged her big brother tightly. “You need to train, you need to know how to control your power. The war is about to begin anytime soon, we need to be ready. YOU need to be ready, Queen.” He stated looking directly into my eyes. “This revelations are overflowing, are you really sure that I am really the Queen? I mean—.” He interrupted me before I finish my statement. “Your birthmark at your back is the proof, that’s a symbol of royalty. And besides, Queen Clara told me herself that you’re her daughter. Therefore, you are really the queen, your highness” then he smiled slightly. I’m out of words.. okay? I heave a sigh and said, “Alright, when will be the start of training?” I asked him. “Today, be ready Queen. I’ll be waiting outside.” Then he left the room. “I’ll be cheering for you queen!” Cara said while giggling. Here I am standing in an open field. I already accepted my fate, that I am really a Queen. Also, I need to be strong, to get the revenge of my mom’s death. “Are you ready, Queen?” He asked with a little curved of smile on his lips. Oh man, he looks so handsome and— erase erase. I nodded. “Feel the power within you, concentrate and accept it wholeheartedly, Queen.” I concentrated for about 5 minutes, and I successfully did it after. I can feel that my senses are enhanced, my hearing range is amazing that I can even hear the direction of the wind and even the heartbeats of the animals. And then, I was brought to different dimension, I was mesmerized by the beauty of the place. This is a paradise, not too far from where I’m standing, I saw balls of light at the top of a sparkling tree, it has different colors blue, green, red, brown and white at the middle. As I took a step forward, I was again diverted into different dimension. This is the opposite of the paradise that I’ve seen few minutes ago. This place is wrecked, abandoned, a dark forest. It has no sign of life, but at the center balls of light caught my attention, it is placed at the topmost part of the tree. Those are the lights in the paradise! And I know that that’s my powers. I ran faster towards the direction of the lights, one step away from the tree a cerberus suddenly appeared infront of me. Cerberus is a three-headed animal and is owned by God Hades. Its sharp pangs is ready to eat me alive, the cerberus move towards my direction. It’s speed is not ordinary, but I easily dodge its attacked. Wew! I need to end this already, I need to have a plan. I run faster heading to the right, and as what I expected it appeared infront of me. I slide down between its legs and jumped higher until I reached the balls of light. As my body touches the lights, I felt an overflowing power within me. I opened my eyes only to find myself surrounded by a blinding light. The cerberus vanished, I won. I opened my eyes, I saw Lucas and Cara staring at me. Amazement is evident on their face. “Wow Queen! Look at you! You look like one of the Goddesses!” Cara said giggling. I saw my reflection on the water. I was wearing a white gown, and a white flower crown. My dress has gold and silver linings, my eyes turned blue and my hair became ash gray in color. “You made it Queen, tomorrow we will be heading back to Alkia, to introduce you to your people.” I smiled at him and nodded as a response. “People of Alkia, the time has come. The lost Queen is finally back, the savior of our kingdom, our hope to live. Queen Adrienne!” Here I am standing infront my people, they joyously welcomed me on their kingdom, on my kingdom. And it gives me warmth inside as I heard them singing my name with joy. “People of Alkia, I am Adrienne Fortress your long lost queen from kingdom of Alkia, a world full of magic and a dimension made to spread kindness, great hearts and good minds. Atlast I finally found my home, I’m a proud Queen of this kingdom. This is where I belong. Whatever bad might happen, I’ll fight for this kingdom and I will never regret sacrificing my life. Thus, I will embrace this kingdom including my people for this is my home. I’m willing to prove myself in anyway I can; willing to die just to save my kingdom. My love for my people is the core of my identity. As a queen, this is my pledge. Feel and deal and I shall seal it with my power.” Right after my pledge, my people sings my name. But an explosion caught our attention. We are under attacked! “The shadows are here! Embrace yourselves, we will fight for our kingdom!” all my people agreed and so as I. I’ll protect them no matter what. I shove every enemy that is blocking my way using my fire imaculum. I fly using my wings to find the king of the shadows. Thankfully, I didn’t fail. “Hm, so you’re the queen? You look weak.” He said mocking me. He motioned his dark sword and I just glared at him. “I’m going to kill you just like how I killed your mother!” He screamed. He swiped his dark sword at me, but I jump out of range with my hand on the hilt of my lightning sword. “Try me.” —I answered. I bring my sword to my side and then motioned it at his direction. I ran towards him and swings my sword. He dodge it using his sword, because I also have the air imaculum I used it to manipulate the air on his body and he’s now gasping for air. But still he manage to throw me a dark ball, which I easily dodge, well.. I can feel that he’s tensed and his eyes became red. I can’t take this any longer. The familiar rush of energy flows through my body, I opened my eyes. I release the most dangerous light, a very blinding light to the eyes of the shadows. “Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!” I screamed as I release the light. I saw how the body of the shadows turned into ashes even their king. After that, I felt my knees getting weak. This is the end. I already killed them, the shadows and their king who killed my mother. I saw my people smiling at me and then slowly they bent their knees and bowed their heads giving me their respect. “Hail to the Queen of Alkia” —my people said in unison. I smiled, I’m starting to tear up. Then someone pulled me up, he carried me, a bridal style. “You did a great job, Queen” he smiled at me, a very heartwhelming smile. Lucas.. I am Adrienne Fortress, the Queen of Alkia Kingdom. I’ll protect my home and my people even if it means sacrificing my own life. #ShortStory#CreativeWriting
