just sent an email with the subject line "suspicious shakshuka"
#sasha speaks#i bought a trio of sauces from a moroccan stand at the farmers market this weekend. harissa tomato eggplant and shakshuka#the shakshuka is like a jar of simmered veggies you can heat in a pan and add eggs to and have an easy meal ready#on inspection today the other two jars seem fine but the shakshuka jar seemed. Off.#there was liquid on the outside and it seemed bubbly and bulging. and when i cracked the lid open gas escaped like a bottle of soda#and it is indeed bubbly. smells fermented too. like kimchi#but not visibly or. olfactorally. spoiled. like no mold growth or rancid smell#point being i'm not sure if it's safe to eat? i don't know if it's Supposed to be like that or not#fermented veg is typically safe yeah esp when it's cooked and i would cook this anyway. but i don't know if this is Supposed to be fermented#and therefore. properly and safely fermented#anyway i emailed the seller to ask if this is normal and if it's not if i could replace the jar
