I’m really not sure what o think about the red dwarf books. (Ive only read part one of infinity welcomes careful drivers) but they’re okay just not very much like red dwarf. The characters and settings are familiar and I do appreciate the darker elements of the book but if you asked someone to read the book before watching the show theyd probably say the only familiar things are the characters.

#I’m not mentioning plot differences just atmosphere #though lister purposely being put in quarantine seems slightly ooc #also I got fed up with reading the bit where he and kochanski were watching its a wonderful life #because it’s exactly the same words that they used in the show to describe his dads death #and imo it worked better in better than life where he spoke to Rimmer #because that’s listers way of offering comfort to Rimmer #it wasn’t necessary to add in the book IMO #then again that’s a nitpick #it’s just so much darker #which I do love in its own way #but sometimes its a bit too much #red dwarf #honestly this was unnecessarily long
