honestly asking a hug isnt that weird and its the best course of action. its easier to just be straightforward instead of relying on cues like opening your arms. if someone thinks youre weird for asking for a hug i think they have the issue here. its a normal thing to do

seriously tho what is the protocol for when you want a hug and dont want to be weird and just want to be casual. like. you just hold out your arms?? thats weird. because you gotta do it tentatively and then u look like a baby bird learning to fly for the first time. anything verbal is automatically weird and loserish because like. 'hey. hug me.' is weird. 'u want to hug?' is also weird. literally its all weird. guess i gotta learn to- OH. AHAHAH LOL. guess i gota learn to EMBRACE the weirdness
