being a fan of a media with dysfunctional or outright abusive families in it while also having come from a deeply dysfunctional and abusive family truly makes you feel like you're taking crazy pills
because you will have to see the absolute worst most head-in-the-sand takes from people who seem to genuinely believe it's physically impossible for a parent to have bad intentions towards a child or to just... not treat their child right even if they don't 'mean' to harm them
and who think that you can't blame a parent who 'tries' for any harm their child experiences, and who also think 'trying' means doing anything better than chaining their kid to a radiator and putting cigarettes out on them, because the only way they can conceive of abuse is to imagine the most cartoonishly violent sadist possible
and who for some bizarre reason are far more concerned about the parent's theoretical hurt feelings at being told they hurt their child than the demonstrable harm that was done to the child as a result of the parent's actions
