Can you talk about why you think blocking and moving on is a bad thing? I thought it was a way to curate your space and avoid drama
idk maybe i'm too idealistic but fandom is a much more friendlier, welcoming, supportive, creative, engaging, active, diverse and interesting space when it's treated like a community where people are encouraged to participate and talk about their interests and where there's space for niche or more unpopular opinions without these people having to worry about being blocked and feel unwelcome by the majority of the fandom they are in. i can't stand how blocking everyone you disagree with has become the first thing to do.
you say its 'to curate your experience'. but blocking people does not only curate YOUR experience. you're also forcefully curating other users' experiences. and not for the better.
people say 'i will block you for literally anything' and then those same people wonder why engagement is down, why no one sends asks, why no one reblogs, why rarely anyone talks in the tags anymore and why this place feels so dead and boring and quiet. i wonder why!!!!
people treat real people as annoying ads they can dispose of at their whim. but that's not how a fandom or a site like tumblr works. (besides, if you really care about people curating their own experience you wouldn't block people. you can filter and blacklist and never see them again while still granting them the same freedom instead of actively making their experience worse.)
you say its to avoid drama. but seeing a post you dont agree with is not 'drama'. and blocking is not solving anything except for you personally. fandom was more fun when we remembered that every user is a real person you share a space with, and probably some mutuals as well, so you find a way to live with each other. starting with a restraining order seems a bit excessive and is not contributing to anything. it's not that hard to be respectful and tolerate others and acknowledge people have different opinions and interests and still co-exist in peace. its not that hard to be nice to people and try to find common ground with them and interact with the stuff you DO like. you do this in every aspect of your real life, so why not online?
i hear you say: 'but that requires WORK and i don't NEED to do any of that bc i can just block them'.
yeah, you can try to create your own bubble and only hang out with like minded people but you wont EVER fully achieve that (no matter how much you block, social media WILL keep feeding you posts you disagree with bc it makes them money). social media WILL pressure you into an 'us vs. them' mentality where you constantly feel like everything online is a threat or an argument you have to win and where being mean and unnuanced gives you the most notes and where you don't even see, let alone be able to treat, other users as people anymore bc you don't interact with them anymore other than to block or fight them. that's not how i want it to be online. it's not fun to me. and maybe i'm a pessimist but i think it will eventually be the death of online fandom and sites like tumblr. look at the state of twitter right now. DOES blocking give you a better experience in the long run? i doubt that it does. overall, i think it makes people even less tolerable and more vulnerable to hate and fear mongering, and social media an even more hostile place.
it's everything i hate about social media and everything i want to fight against and WILL fight against. i won't pretend my meager contribution will change anything, but i LIKE to just scroll past posts i don't vibe with and not see every argument online as a personal offense. it keeps me curious. most posts aren't that bad when you know the person behind it. i mean, you do you, i'm not gonna say what you should or shouldn't do bc that's up to you, but i recommend it: free yourself of the block button and bring back supportive user communities based on a shared love for the same thing and focus on what you have in common with people, just like you would do in real life. save the block button for the rotten apples who DO keep trying to pick fights and exclude others.
(which is, now that i think about it, probably the main difference: most people see the block button as a neutral way to prevent worse. but. that's only the case on an individual level. and treating everything online as an individual choice to which there are no further consequences, especially if they happen on a larger scale, is already a loss.)

I am SO sorry about that other anon good lord, who do they think they are??? You're a human being with feelings and emotions and hardships!! Or a shark I guess in your case, but my point still stands.
I, too, have been a long-time fan of your comic. CoB is my favorite webcomic and I've been loyally following and reading the updates since... end of s1?? It's been a while. BUT despite that, I know that you're still a person at the end of the day, and that sometimes you just need to get shit off your chest. It's far healthier to vent and get things off your chest than it is to bottle it up.
I haven't paid attention because I'm following like 500 different tumblrs, but may I suggest tagging your rants? That way, if people don't want to see it, they can just blacklist the tag, and you can keep getting things off your chest.
>>> Also just a reminder to everyone that YOU CURATE YOUR OWN ONLINE EXPERIENCES. The tag blocker and unfollow button is there for a reason. If you don't like what someone posts, either block the tag or just unfollow them. It's not that hard.
Sorry to that anon in that I didn’t mean to send any hate their way. I appreciate what you’re saying but I understand their point. I made this as a space for fans and I shouldn’t be using it for personal baggage. I’m just going to try to avoid using it like that from now on, so hopefully a tag won’t be necessary but I’ll make sure to do so if I do fall in that hole again. I hopefully just find a better outlet, but I just always appreciate being heard here, even if only by a few people. Even just a like on one of my posts tells me someone heard me and sometimes that’s just all I need. This was just kinda the only place I can get that since Twitter and IG would attract too much attention, and well, my private accounts… just feel like screaming into a void that just echos everything back and confirms everything I’m venting about. I’m gonna try to avoid venting here from now on and do my best to just keep it a positive fan space, but I appreciate all the support up til now whenever I’ve been having a bad night

wrt to the discussion about alvin’s infurno:
if you’re referring to the same person i’m thinking of, i don’t feel you were at fault in that situation. you added a trigger tag when asked and have consistently included warnings with alvin’s infurno content that discusses/depicts abuse, along with tagging the story so people could filter or blacklist it if that’s what they need. but at a certain point, i feel that people need to curate their own online experience— beyond adding the content warnings and making it easier to filter, i don’t think there’s anything else you could have done as a creator who does not personally know this individual.
much appreciated anon :) i do try my best

fictional characters regardless of their age and/or relation to each other do not have autonomy, and putting them in fictional scenarios outside of their canon source cannot harm real victims of abuse who can and should curate their own online and media consumption experiences.

we are a plural system ( pro-all systems ) but probably won't go super into detail about plurality on this blog. when you see I/me/my/myself on posts rather than we/us/our/ourself it just means the collective system is speaking in unison; I and we are interchangeable and are often chosen based on grammatical context.

#VIDYADAWN. Welcome to my roleplaying blog for Honkai: Star Rail's Dan Heng. This blog is independent, selective and multi-verse. Established in March 2024 and written by Min. Please read the rules below before following :)
This blog primarily features Dan Heng. That said, Imbibitor Lunae might make an appearance when the opportunity arises, because I'd love to write threads set in the past with him.
I'm not up to date with the storyline / recent update on H:SR yet but I don't mind spoilers!
RULES down below! | MEMES | HEADCANONS | MUSIC CREDIT
Tumblr media
ABOUT ME. My name is Min, I'm over 30 years of age and I've been rping in various fandoms for over 15 years. I work during the week so replies are slow, but I'm usually online and available through DMs or discord (for mutuals only).
REQUIREMENTS. If you are interested in roleplaying with me, you must be at least 18 years of age, ideally over 21. I make no exceptions for minors, regardless of thread content. I will gravitate towards H:SR canon muses, but I am open to OCs if the character appeals to me and crossovers if I can see a way to merge our worlds together.
WRITING. I prefer plotted threads and longer replies (on average I'll write 3-6 paragraphs), but I don't expect you to match length. What matters to me is the content of our posts and our ability to progress in the story we want to tell. I don't really do short convos anymore (unless it's dash crack) and I don't write unplotted starters because they often lead nowhere. If you have ideas for our muses, just message me and if you don't have ideas yet but would like to write, let's plot together :)
MEMES. Best way to get something started with me is through memes. Any memes in my meme tag are available without time limit for all mutuals, so no need to ask first, just send in whatever tickles your fancy! Heads up: it might take me forever and three days to respond, but I will get there eventually. Feel free to reblog any meme posts directly from my blog, I don't mind that at all.
SHIPPING. I am open to shipping and I would love to develop something more profound and long-lasting for Dan Heng. He is not an easy muse to ship with and I don't insta-ship, but I very much enjoy writing ships. If I write multiple ships, they are automatically in separate verses unless discussed otherwise. As an example, I'd be happy to explore Dan Feng/Yingxing in past threads and its repercussions on the present, but I'm also perfectly fine writing them without any romantic context. I have a soft spot for Jing Yuan / Dan Heng, particularly if Jing Yuan had feelings for Dan Feng in the past, because I think that would make for a beautiful angsty love story in the present :) But here as well, I just love the dynamic and I'm happy to write then as platonic dynamic, as long as we can agree that they have a complex connection. Please note that I do not ship Dan Heng/March 7th romantically and I am torn on shipping him with the Trailblazer (that one's debatable), but I'll happily write them as a platonic dynamic. If you're interested in writing a ship with me, best come discuss it with me directly.
SOCIAL POLITICS. I am against callout and cancel culture and do not engage in it. Callouts will not be reblogged - I curate my dashboard my own way and I have no interest in being dragged into other people's fights. I don't respect publicly hating on fictional ships, characters or portrayals. I will never harass anyone or shame them for the fictional things they choose to write, I simply avoid, blacklist or block what I don't want to see. I believe the RPC would be a better place if people tried to be more tolerant, respectful and kind to one another.

this blog contains both sfw & nsfw content
this blog does not write for but will interact with dark content (e.g. reblog or like)
most works will contain a warning if needed, please read at your own discretion
my inbox is always open for interaction but my dms are only open for mutuals (if we follow each other)
i hold the right to delete asks and/or turn off anon
learn how to curate your own online experience: blacklist tags and block users you don't like. i also understand that i can't always prevent everyone from reading or interacting with my works but i do check my activity often and any interactions from minors or bots will be blocked
everything that i write will always be a work of fiction involving fictional characters, therefore, all scenarios that i write should be taken in the context of FICTION

Most of OM's fandom are nice people, IMO, but there are some outliers.
Like the guy who's DNI was a tirade about women and how they only care about smut, blah, blah, blah. As an asexual member of that 50% of the population, I just want to ramble about my favorite characters and have a good time, no smut involved.
oh definitely!
the fact that that dude made that assumption in the first place tells you all you need to know tbh.
often times people forget that you don't have to interact with stuff /people you dislike and can just block people/blacklist tags. and there's nothing to feel bad or guilty about!
i do have a bunch of people from the fandom blocked, either because i do not want to see their content or they give me the ick for various reasons and it's totally okay to do so.
you curate your own online experience.

☯️how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you're not a social person/experience social anxiety?
Coming in with the heavy question, thanks m'love...!
Fandom thrives on engagement: someone creates something and shares it, people respond positively, happy receptors fire so they make more. Someone asks a question, someone responds, then you have pages of meta and discussion. Questions are asked and answered, people relate to characters and don't feel as alone when they find others who relate to the same character.
Friendships are formed on the basis of shared interests, and the great ones then develop beyond the boundaries of fandom and they thrive.
There is a barrier between the person and fandom and you can use that to control their access to you, and your interaction with them. You don't need to respond to every message. You don't need to deal with people who disagree with you and start fights. (When I get an anon that does the whole "fandom isn't talking about" or "why do people keep saying" it's a straight press of the delete button.) They're not coming up to you in the street and yelling PEOPLE ARE WRONG ABOUT THIS THING while hiding behind some kind of clown mask. You don't have to deal with it.
If you respond to the good stuff - talk with the people whose interactions make you happy, thank those saying nice things, curate your experience by using the block button liberally, and blacklisting what you don't want to see - then you will get more of that in your fandom experience.
You don't owe anyone an explanation and anyone who takes offence or upset at you setting boundaries (no matter how small they may be) is not someone who respects you.
We can't always control who is in our physical world, or the contact they have with us. But you can absolutely do that online and do that on your own terms. If you can only have the headspace to deal with two or three people? Deal with them. If you don't want to see something? Filter it out. Make this space work for you and if that means you only chat with one person - or anyone - then you do you.

13. Be honest. What’s your opinion on the role play community on Tumblr?
@ghostxnovelist
RP Questions For The Mun [Accepting]
13. Be honest. What’s your opinion on the role play community on Tumblr?
// In the grand scheme of things? The RPC is literally no different, from any online community. No matter what people try to say, and try to act almighty and superior from the main fandom. They are all "flour from the same sack" (this is an expression/saying we have in Brazil, which is meant to refer to people who are the same, no matter what they say or do).
With that said. It is entirely on the person, to work on their experience in these communities, the RPC is no different. I can honestly say that my time in the RPCs I'm in has been great fun for me, because I have been curating it to my needs and preferences.
I do my part in avoiding content I don't like, filtering/blacklisting/blocking content is my best friend. What I don't see, won't hurt me. Starting in 2021, I have been avoiding people who are very heavily associated with the discourse side of any community (people who made discourse their personality trait, and won't drop or stop arguing no matter what. All while not really being capable of having a grounded/rational discussion.). And I can afirm you, that doing these two simple things, my experience has improved SO MUCH. On top of just feeling overall so much happier as well. The people I follow and interact with make me happy, and I enjoy seeing their things on my Dashboard, that's all that matters to me.
No community is ever going to be ideally good, there will always be bad apples everywhere you go or look at, you also won't like everything/everyone you come across (after all, our definitions of good and bad things are subjective, are prone to be drastically different from one another, for a number of reasons). You can't control others, or force others to change. Those things are entirely out of your realm of control. The sooner you drop that attitude and mentality, the better things will get for you. Meanwhile you absolutely CAN control your experience, what you see and engage with.
It seems like people have forgotten that fandoms, and the RPC by proxy, should be a hobby and a source of fun. It should be a distraction and not a source of stress. If somebody can't respect the fact you also deserve to cultivate your own space in a community, then fuck them LMAO, that's their problem to deal with.

I understand the sentiment of this post and everything but I think that ultimately the responsibility lies in the users themselves around here in curating their own online experiences. Blacklisting tags and keywords should help and also maybe if some radfem stuff is too heavy in general then those users should make another account where they could just reblog lighthearted stuff. Personally I don’t like policing what people post on here since a lot of women are in different stages and have different ways in engaging with feminism.
And I’m only speaking for myself here, but as depressing as engaging with some of this stuff is, I think it was necessary for my “peaking” in many ways whether it be tra stuff or liberal feminism since I *personally* think that part of the the reason that mainstream feminism lost its bite is because a lot of women probably felt that we were living in some sorta of post-patriarchal world. It’s to the point where so many women stopped paying attention to the terrible, unforgivable ways that men *are* treating women. I think that not turning away and constantly reminded of what men were doing daily was integral in undoing a lot of patriarchal orientated ways of thinking. It was necessary because when you’re constantly being fed with the opposite, there’s this need to combat that with a sort of reality check I guess ( this being men’s misogyny).
In my process there were highs and lows, days where I was doomscrolling and honestly at that point I should off distracted myself with other things, which I eventually did!!! So I guess it was a learning lesson for me since I wasn’t used to being exposed to feminists who actually really paid attention to the awful things men were doing. But even with all this I still think that because I got to the point where I was finally very fixed and understood how men subtly act misogynistic and how that leads to very violent acts + that practically many men act this way, I could now comfortably step away and watch other lighthearted stuff without defanging my mentality and tolerance towards everyday misogyny. And I’m not suggesting this is a necessary right of passage for everyone but I guess I hit a sweet spot where I am more composed in the face of male depravity and at the very least find comfort that I saved myself - all because I was exposed to a lot of harsh realities.
So in the end I think that for women around these spaces there should be encouragement for newcomers to take breaks if they feel overwhelmed, but I can’t exactly say that stopping the focus, monitoring, awareness and documentation of mens’ misogyny is gonna put us in a “better” place as a collective. A lot of people are distracted with their own lives and aren’t activists and that’s okay, if individual women save themselves and spreads knowledge about feminism + examples of men’s misogyny, I think that’s fine for the time being since most people are online focused anyways and that’s not gonna go away anytime soon. So when it comes to being exposed to unpleasant things, I think it’s up to individuals to learn their limits.
anyways ……most posts here ( tumblr) are just screenshots of male depravity from other sites and there isn’t really an algorithm like on other sites or a manosphere on here. People can nearly curate what they see here at any point they want.

Think I need to reapply some bug-spray to my blog real quick.
Number one: Terfs get the hell out, this is not the blog or post for you. This post does not concern itself with whether or not trans individuals should be in the public eye or not. The answer is and always will be yes. We should never hide or attempt to erase a fellow human being for harmlessly embracing who they are. What someone wears or looks like is their affair.
On to the post.
This blog supports "problematic" works of fiction. What someone writes, reads, or even illustrates is not an indicator of their morals. People can enjoy ficticious works without having the desire to perform or support the actions depicted in those works. This includes murder, rape, incest, etc.
We need stories and artwork that feature "problematic" themes. It makes for a more thoughtful and insightful world. It does more hurt to those affected by these things in the real world if their kinds of stories are never depicted.
That being said, art and writing with dark themes should not be required to be insightful on these matters to exist either. They can and should exist for entertainment sake as well. There is no use pretending that the human mind hasn't always found the macabre fascinating. Have you never enjoyed a scary movie, without walking away thinking about the morals of what happened in the film? Maybe you haven't. But do you really think worse of those who have? Do you think badly of children or their guardians who dress as horror icons for Halloween? Perhaps you need to learn to mind your own life, and let others alone.
People can choose if they would like to interact with media with dark themes or not. Utilize the tools given to you to curate your online experience. Block. Mute. Blacklist tags and words. Do not ask others to censor themselves for you. That is your job. If you brush elbows with someone in real life who enjoys a ficticious theme that you cannot stomach, do you attempt to berate and ostracize them? I'm almost certain you move on with your day. You can easily do the same online.
To any of you who have read this, have a good rest of your day. Drink water, get some rest. Indulge yourselves to something nice. Be kind always, including to yourself.

hello!
i was hoping you might explain something:
your DNI includes “darkshippers”, and in your blacklist, you include “toxic relationships” as a hard boundary.
however, you also include dottore/diluc as a favorite ship, even though it seems like a textbook “toxic darkship”
it seems like there’s some cognitive dissonance here. why is dottore/diluc the exception?
hey, anon! so we usually don't answer questions about our blacklist etc on here, but for this we can. short answer? we like the ship and don't really see it as inherantly abusive. long answer, we have a dottore fictive who has pseudomemories of being with diluc and we like to indulge him sometimes, even if by some definitions that relationship was not particularly healthy. we're definetly more inclined towards webtorre/clones x diluc, and see it more as a rivalry. it is on the same level of acceptableness for us as arlefuri and similar ships. but we understand if that makes you or anyone else uncomfortable, that you are free to block us. we're not gonna agree with everyone on everything and we may see characters differently, and that is a part of life and fandom. part of growing up, especially in fandom spaces, is that, eventually you realise that nothing is that serious. you can be mad, you can be upset, at what you see online or what other people enjoy, but there is nothing you can do about it. the best thing to do, is to curate your own experience. if you don't like a ship, block the tag. if you don't like a creator, block or mute them. if you find a subset or a whole fandom annoying, block the tag. it is a lesson people need to learn sometimes, especially nowadays. anyway, rant over. thanks for the ask, anon. we hope this answered your question.
