this isn't well written or anything I'm just. I'm Desperate to get Ren out of my head he's been living here rent free and I NEED to switch into Taiga mode to write that request so. Please enjoy structureless Ren rambles. He doesn't come off as character with Much Nuance (like some others, Rui!! Jin, Subaru, Haku, etc) but like. When he's been sitting in your head for the past 14 business days....things unravel.

So he has a Thing about the ocean. He watches horrors movies related to it, he seems especially grossed out by it, but he doesn't seem like he's never had experience with it. Which is why I just can't not think he came from a small, coastal town (like from Aquamarine lmao). The kind that has a Barrage of tourists in the summer and over holidays and he Hated it because now he can't just go anywhere without risking being in the background of someone's vacation pictures. And I also can't help but feel like he probably had a parent/parents who parentified him, probably not maliciously, but they still did it. Like two immature parents or one immature parent and one completely absent one, so when it came to actually being responsible about things, he had no choice but to step in. Which is why he's so annoyed by and against hard work- he's done enough of it and he doesn't want to keep getting involved when he now doesn't feel the responsibility to. He probably feels a lot of resentment towards them for what he had to take on. Whether he feels bad about that resentment or not, I can't say.

He doesn't like messes or the animals in Jabberwock. He doesn't want to have to care for anything besides himself. Haru might remind him of his family which is why he's so hostile towards him. Because like Notably, Ren isn't BAD at hard work. He does go to classes, does missions, has a job at the diner, and still has to help around Jabberwock no matter how much he tries to avoid it. He's even dedicated to his mobile games, which seems silly, but those require a lot of routine daily to keep up and it seems like he has a few he keeps up with! And if we consider the Jabberwock chapter, even though he was against Calamari and resented taking care of it, he still did and he still felt guilty when he didn't do a good job at it, so much so that he ran off to the beach to try to revive the poor thing. Not the actions of someone who truly is selfish and doesn't care. Him carrying Haru to safety too- yes, leaving him to die would have been really. Kind of reprehensible but he carried the guy and rejected any kind of thanks and appreciation for it. He could have used that as guilt-leverage to try to get out of things later but...did he? Not as far as I know.

Like he does all of that no matter how much he complains. Also, who ELSE has a campus job? I'll wait. 🥱. Sho doesn't count, the food truck is a passion project. Even BROKE ASS Kaito doesn't have a campus job. Why is Ren working? Does he NEED the money or does he feel some kind of compulsion to make it for some reason? Because he's responsible? Because he sends it back home? Because he wants to have money for post Darkwick life? Who knows!!!!! He got that job like INSTANTLY bro enrolled and got that work study like the first damn week.

And this is way less in the realm of Theory Crafting and conspiracy and more just a pure hc but I just feel like maybe his hostility towards other people, the MC included, is because he might be dealing with the aftermath of a damaged or lost relationship. Not exclusively romantic but like possibly? Like if he grew up in a small town, he probably knew the people around him from childhood to adulthood. And it's not unlikely that he had a childhood friend that stuck through all the years with him. And it's not unlikely that, if they were friends that long, that people would start making jokes and suggestions about them ending up together long term. And! It's not unlikely that! He felt some kind of pressure to at least pretend to reciprocate feelings towards them. So maybe a close friendship became a relationship and maybe he did have feelings for them and maybe he didn't or just wasn't ready for them. Either way, now he's in Darkwick and given how unhappy he is, it doesn't seem like it was his first choice to be there. Is he running away? Does he not have a home to go back to (either self imposed or true exile)? I just. I have questions.

You decided to actually do smth abt the crippling depression and “outsider” feelings instead of just rotting away, and went to Sumeru to get closer to the greenery of your home,

it made you feel a little better, but it could be the best, so u decide to lowkey force everyone in Sumeru to convert to Costa Rican LMAO

so ofc u did the most logical thing to convert ppl to a culture, the food!

u helped fund a small restaurant full of classic Costa Rican foods (coughandsoyoucaneatitwheneveryouwantcough)

(u still have the insane mora leftover from what u had in game so ur basically one of the richest ppl in Teyvat ngl 💀)

u recreated just the basic gallo pinto/casado with what was available (some beans from Natlan and rice from Inazuma/Liyue, the Ajilenakh nut from Sumeru acc kinda acts like plantains :0 and local fish/greens for salad)

Needless to say Sumeru is fascinated by the new cuisine and esp since its not a secret that you’ve funded it/made the menu from your homeworld

Tighnari likes barbudos bc there's not a lot of egg dishes in Sumeru but there are a lot of greens, so he “likes the familiar in unique combinations!”

unsurprisingly, Cyno likes Chancelta bc he can pick it up, eat it quickly, and go on with his patrol

Collei, Kaveh (and secretly Dehya lol) really like being able to munch and snack on sugar cane, (and the plantain imitation desserts!)

omg getting Nilou Kaveh Faruzan Cyno Dehya (and Dunyazard!) to do the calipso limonense always cheers you up, (which is why they are so eager to do it when ur feeling homesick ❤️‍🩹)

Kaveh steps on too many people’s toes, Dehya gets dizzy from the spins/turns easily, Faruzan keeps spinning for too long, Nilou and Dunyazard are actually secretly latina bc they're so good at it (did they outdo you?? no, no they couldn't possibly-)

like got my mom to prep from dry black beans and rice etc. as fresh as we could get (nowhere near costa rica level btw) and made fresh guac and fried plantain chips and salmon I think? literally cooked the first night back bc I knew I missed the food already/knew id get sick

and I was RIGHT, that food I made was fine, but any other American food so bad I got nauseous

I'm so glad Hyth and Elidibus are there though, they're unabashedly my favourites aside from G'raha and Emet Selch. I was also wondering if you guys have any plans on writing smth about how, after the Final Days, Emet, G'raha and Corrain (and maybe Lelesu) work to find some way to return to the first? This curiosity probably stemmed from you guys giving Lyna interactions with Uncle Emet, I could not stop smiling at those.

okay SO. as to how each of the ancients survives is different; Hyth is the easiest, because in canon on Ultima Thule he and Emet choose to leave instead of using Hydaelyn's magicks to become corporeal again. so he just chooses to stay instead. Elidibus we're saving in the last tier of pandaemonium; between the last lingering fragments of Hydaelyn's gift and Emet's own magic. it will still take him a long time to recover and piece himself back together, but he will. Lahabrea is harder, but we've decided to go with a fan theory that his soul is stuck in Estinien's lance alongside Nidhogg, so once Hyth (who has the best soulsight) gets a look at it they're going to borrow the lance and just yoink him free. his multiple years stuck in a spear alongside an extremely angry dragon watching All That go down have chilled him out and forced him to think on his actions some, though that doesn't mean it'll be smooth sailing all the way through once he's freed.

as for returning to the First, right now we have this on our outline:

i'm headcanoning that the Ascians are capable of traversing the rift physically (even if that's not necessarily quite lore accurate, it's a little bit wibbly) and so Emet is able to take G'raha with him. the others will have to wait until Y'shtola finds a way across on her own, but i expect Elidibus will be willing to help her with that... we will see.

there are several plot points that since it's obviously setting up for future expansions and things, we're kind of waiting to see what the game does with them (like some of the stuff dawntrail introduced). of course we'll probably invent our own stuff eventually if we get to that point in writing and the game still hasn't given us any answers, but since this particular verse is sort of our "canon" we are trying to keep it as game-adjacent as possible so that we don't have to. do tons of wild work for it and it ends up not being related to the current stories being told at all.

i'll tag @sunderedazem in case there's anything he wants to add here, but thank you!! really glad to hear how much you're enjoying things. and the Emet and Lyna interactions are something we both super enjoy too - i actually have a half-done promptfic sitting around that's more of it, i just have to settle down and work on it. though unless something really changes the next thing to be posted will probably be the next bit of Ascian Azem :)

very conflicted abt kuya. will find him very interesting, but also uncomfortable around his presence. i don't think kuya will enjoy messing with him much either tbh. not a very fruitful relationship for either party, but if they somehow manage to become friends, it'll be terrible news for anyone around them

would LOVE messing with edmond. i don't need to elaborate. you know it too

i think he would genuinely try to help yakumo sort out his snake powers, even if in a fucked up way like endangering his loved ones until yakumo loses it

would go kinda crazy over rei i think. literally, a bird guy, who is unattached to anyone else and does whatever he wants and goes wherever he wants when he wants to. he would break into his house and mess it up just to see how he'll react

on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. wow he'd hate dante. do whatever he can to try to break him but not in a fun encouraging way like with yakumo or edmond. tho, once he sees it's not working, he'll move on to something else

i honestly don't know if he'd prefer that world or not. it does depend on his role there - if he's the grand sorcerer 2 (3?) then there's no way he'd want to stay there, and would do his best to leave asap. otherwise, he might take his time to learn about this world and make a more informed decision, i think. maybe starting a new life in this new place could make him feel a bit more free 🤔

Time for the sequel! My volume 1 post did great, a grandiose 3 notes. I can already smell the internet fame. Clearly, the fans want what I have to offer (That being: incredibly random thoughts and my always correct opinions), and I am here to give it to them.

Anyways when we last left off: We'd just stopped a grand robbery of dust in the docks! Well, Penny did most of the work, but it's the thought that counts. The ending was kind of abrupt! What wonders will V2 have to offer? How much of a mess will it make of things? I wonder!

Ep 1: We start the volume and the first thing Mercury does is… flirt? The way the line is read is so fucking awkward tho, lmao. I know the tukson scene was meant to be tense and menacing but, and I know I said I wouldn't do this much, but it's important here: The voice acting doesn't really sell the scene. It's not laughably awful or anything, it's just not very strong. Wow, Blake and Yang actually get an interaction where Blake actively replies to her! How wonderful. Thank you Ruby, that IS the current circumstances in which you find yourselves! The audience appreciates you for the explanation. Wow Neptune look at you I'm sure you'll be a super important character moving forward, relevant, always in the depths of the plot. No comments about the food fight. 10/10. Still my favourite secene from RWBY. Now Glynda I understand your frustration but everyone else ran away, these eight stuck to the food fight and wrecked each other's shit, I'd be impressed if I was the teacher of a combat school. I love Roman. He's a little shit. I'd bash his head in if I could, but that's why I love him. He's underutilized but his VA is clearly having a lot of fun and it seeps into the character. Do you think cinder uses her powers to make her eyes glow for effect at all times or only when she's tryning to be menacing?

Ep 2: I do like Ironwood's always had that subtle tension to him. He's a man with good intentions but too much goddamn power for his own good. Leaving aside te absolute stupidity of a 'semblance' they gave him which was of course never mentioned in the show because it makes no goddamn sense. This is a general complaint I have, not only with RWBY but with pretty much all shows I've ever watched: JUST USE REAL BOARD GAMES. PLEASE. CALL THEM SOMETHING ELSE BUT MAKE THEM THINGS THAT ALREADY FUCKING EXIST. The only person I've ever seen who makes 'fake board/card games' funny is ProZD and dude literally makes a living out of playing and reviewing those. Anyways that's a me thing, otherwise it's a fine scene. Comes out of nowhere, any time Weiss does or say anything involving Neptune I wanna unalive myself, the two have the chemistry of water, and I consider this fanbase got off lucky that Neptune ended up being only a plot device to get Jaune to move along his own arc. So yeah any time anything happens with Neptune, unless I state otherwise, assume I'm vomiting loudly. … Honestly Blake and Weiss are kinda shippable here. 'Nooo blake why won't you talk to me- I mean us you promised' gay ass. Anyways while I understand Ruby and Yang going with the stupid plan and Blake has personal reasons for it… It does feel a bit OOC for Weiss to agree because, well, she's fucking right. These four are just students and they only managed to deal with Roman and the White Fang last time because Penny came in clutch. They're fucked if they do this alone. How… old is cinder? I'd say she couldn't pass herself for a student due to credentials but we know salem has Lionhart by the balls so… ???

On the Bees: Weiss and Blake had a nice moment.

Ep 3: You know, I never understood what Jaune saw in Weiss. Like, ok, she's probably cute at first sight. But she's fucking insufferable otherwise. Her team can deal with her but I'd fucking despise her v1-3 self if I went to the same school as her. I prefer the other outfits tbh. Where… Where was Sun hanging from? He was like, some ways away from the window, but there was nothing there to hang to. I guess his semblance could help but would he really- Yeah he would. Ruby here know's what's up and she wants none of it. NONE. It may look like Ruby is making fun of Weiss, but she doesn't understand that's just flirting. But her heart pulls her two ways, OH NO. By the end of this story, she must choose- Well, no, not really, since one of the options is literally twice dead. (yes I ship Nuts n' Dolts too, sue me) Weird that Weiss didn't ask to see Winter when the woman said she was around, given that later it seems like she'd give an arm and a leg to speak to her. Ok, the reveal that Penny is a robot rings a bit… hollow, since, uh, we already knew that. Her back literally opens into blades, the weird thing really is Ruby not knowing.

Ep 4: OOOOH that's why it's called Nuts n Dolts, innit. Normally I'd say the Ruby/Penny friendship feels forced, but this is probably the only two people in this show where something like this works. Penny has no real frame of reference for friendship and Ruby is just like that. Once again Blake and Sun out here exploring Blake's past together, nothing narratively important going on! Roman is so charismatic. Honestly I'd like to pound his- Oh hi Neo didn't see you there. Ok, see what I mean with "Adam could've made the jump"? Look at Blake and Sun here. Jumping gaps way larger here. I guess he was too stunned for too long or smth idk. Cool fight scene. Gonna be honest, I fucking hate that the fandom took these combo attacks for ship names. Like the concept is cool and all but at least back in the day following ship discourse could be so fucking annoying. Anyways here we have our first canonical explanation of how Yang's semblance works. "With each hit she gets stronger, and she uses that energy to fight back". Which implies she needs to take the damage to get a boost, something something equivalent exchange, but it wasn't something that was happening first volume. Unless we count 'getting a hair cut' to be taking a hit. That being said, I still wonder what's stopping her from, idk, hitting herself or asking someone else to hit her before a battle (assuming she can predict a battle is coming, ofc) to at least have some energy stored up in a safe environment instead of having to risk tanking hits from her enemies. Never quite understood how Neo's semblance works. It's illusions but they leave behind a physical glass form. But how exactly does it make her vanish? In most cases it doesn't feel like she's creating a flat screen surface but just a second body and… teleporting away. Feels like Blake's semblance but more overpowered, but also she can make anything out of it as shown later… Ah, whatever, I don't think the writers think about it too hard, making sense of it is impossible.

Ep 5: While I love Pyrrha winning against team Cardinal, I have to wonder… why was she even fighting all four? Were the teachers like "Cardin your team is so shit all four of you against Pyrrha seems fair, go fight" or what. See what I mean? Mercury clearly thinks of his discovery of Pyrrha's semblance as something interesting, but Ozpin himself says they make extensive tests to the people entering Beacon. Even if semblances aren't a matter of 'public' record, Cinder later gets into the systems, so couldn't she just have just… checked then? I understand the 'blake needs to relax' bit but also, trying to force her into the dance? Sun clearly has a crush on her so him asking makes sense but the rest of team RWBY probably should've been more like "you need to fucking sleep" rather than trying to get her into a dance. I really like Pyrrha and I am really sad the crux of her character is "crush on Jaune." She has a lot of interesting shit to explore WHY IS THIS HER FOCUS. Like it's RIGHT THERE. A girl prodigy with an amazing semblance that everyone places on a pedestal. But instead of being about her it's about fucking Jaune.

On the Bees: Well Weiss continues to be the one pressing Blake to be more open. Is their ship name Checkmate? No, doesn't sound right. Uh… Black and White? No. Grey… Monochrome? That one sounds familiar. May be it (Yes, I wrote this as I thought about it. No. I'm not cutting it down). Anyways whatever the ship name is, so far I kinda dig it more than bumblebee. It's amazing really.

Ep 6: Here it is bois the big chapter for bumblebee oh boi let's gooooo Aight Yang attracting Blake with a laser is pretty hilarious. The Jaune/Ren moment did make me chuckle too. Comedy seems to be on point (for my tastes) this episode. Nora/Ren not being 'together together' is a point they make many times and I only ask… why? Nora isn't subtle about her crush on Ren. I guess Ren is quiet and timid but it's clear- Hey wait why is their ship name 'renora'. Don't they get a combo name? I know I complain about them but like. Feels unfair anyways. Other ships involving them get the stupid combo names. Why not them? What was I saying? Oh right it's clear they have a thing going on and like, they've known each other all their lives. This isn't made a point of until like, 7 volumes in. Eh, idk. Honestly, very impressive Pyrrha can just walk and talk normally with that knife—well, more of a fucking sword—on her back. Bla bla Bees conversation comments at the end let's move on. Oh hey that's Qrow's emblem isn't it? Who designs the emblems anyways. The owners of them? Some are unique, some are inherited. They're kinda like Cutie Marks tbh. Jaune offering a White Rose to Weiss, clearly a reference to THE BEST SHIP. MAYBE 2ND BEST SHIP IDK I'M TORN HERE. ENDGAME CONFIRMED BOIS. Blake's first dance is asked for but she still goes to the dance explicitly with Sun. Of course that is meaningless, nothing here ever built them up to have a thing and it is clear Blake never had absolutely any interest in him whatsoever. Anyways look at those background characters. All heterosexual, not a single w/w m/m pairing dancing, other than the 5 seconds of Blake and Yang. The pinnacle of queer representation right here, folks! Ozpin is a little lying shit but I guess experience does let him give good advice.

On the Bees: Ok. I want you to understand something. This? This is the F I R S T time Blake and Yang have a long, one to one conversation. In the show. Volume and a half in. They're not only teammates, they're partners. Ruby and Yang had a couple of conversations. Weiss and Ruby have had many. Even Ruby and Blake, famously interacting very little, had that conversation about books and fairy tales when first meeting. I don't care about the fact that they've spent months together at this time. That's not the point. The point is this conversation? It's the first actually shippable moment between them. Anything prior is /nothing/. You couldn't fucking write a developing relationship out of them with the interactions they've had before this point. From here on out at least there's a base to work with. That established, it's not the best base. Blake isn't her 'usual self' here. She's exhausted and in a terrible mood. The scene is mostly taken over by Yang's backstory. The conversation is Yang trying to make a point. It's a good conversation, and it finally establishes an interaction between them that doesn't feel loose. It's just a conversation I think would've been far more effective if we'd first seen them have more interactions under normal circumstances. Yang does wink at Blake and 'saves her first dance'. I believe this is the only time in this show where she's flirtatious towards a girl. Wonder why they didn't go togehter to the dance, instead of, well, I already said it above.

Ep 7: What was Jaune gonna do here? Beat up Neptune? Don't get me wrong I find him vomitive, as stated before, but the guy doesn't really deserve a beating for not agreeing to a dance, you know? Or was he heading towards Weiss? Kind of unclear, but he did look kinda angry so I assume he was going after Neptune. Like I get Pyrrha being drawn to Jaune for his ignorance of her and I do think that now it makes some sense she may be into him but I still don't buy how into Jaune she originally was. I do like this conversation between Pyrrha and Jaune, though. And, despite everything, this may be the only moment with Neptune that's genuinely funny. The 'I can't dance' part I mean. Usual applies to everything else. Nora and Ren are dancing, and Blake and Sun are… /still/ dancing? I can only assume they took a break, or they just really like dancing. Still not a single background gay! Dress moment is another Top 10 scenes of the show tbh. Throwaway gag turned funny/wholesome moment. Normally I'd call out the synchronized dance but these are hunters I can assume they have the reflexes to pull it off… assuming Jaune leads, anyways. Ah, yes, the legendary terrible running across rooftops scene. Here it is. It's legendary and terrible and funny. For real though I think I've seen worse animation moments before. I think it's just that this one likes like 5 whole ass seconds and gets full focus. Really? Karate chop? I know it's probably for the memes but girl, you can summon crystal blades at a distance. I reckon using those would be more effective. So… who picks the lockers and brings them back to the school after they hit, anyways? Is tehre a fine related to misuse of the feature? It can't be cheap, between reparations to the ground of wherever the locker hits, the damage to the locker itself, and the fuel used to launch it. RWBY giving pursuit and not immediately throwing away the shoes is the most unbelievable thing that has happened yet in this show. I… what? I don't understand teh architecture here. Did Cinder run all the way back to beacon? is the tower connected to beacon? That cut was real strange. Still no background gays! No but guys RT was really forward thinking they were totally queer-minded and had planned bumblebee from the beginning, clearly caring about rep and all that! They just coudln't be bothered to spend a single minute making two men or two women dance.

On the Bees: WAIT IT'S CALLED BUMBLEBY? NOT BUMBLEBEE? WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME, I MUST HAVE LOOKED STUPID! I'm gonna keep calling it bumblebee, idgaf. anyways I think this may be the only time we see Jaune's knees? I'll keep you posted.

Ep 8: APOLLO JUSTICE TRILOGY WAS CRACKED! I WAITED FOR SO LONG!!!! What has that to do with RWBY? Uh, nothing. What was I doing? Oh right rewatching. Anyways- Never fully understood why Ruby wouldn't go to Ozpin about the info before. Sure they were breaking rules but sis this is a lot bigger than you four. The dog. Right. Forgot he existed. I will forget it again. How… how does war work in Remnant, anyways? If you take to a battlefield, Grimm would eventually overrun both forces. It'd be a three-way fight constantly. You'd think kingdoms in general wouldn't ever bother with war. Right? Ozpin giving the job to RWBY instead of a more experienced team could be considered as the reason it all fell apart really.

On the bees: I actually just finished ep 10 and thought this chapter's notes looked weird and that's cuz this episode had literally nothing despite ample chance and I forgot to add this section.

Ep 9: I like Ooblek or however that's written. He's never relevant again aftert his arc but this is how you make secondary characters memorable. "By giving them a gimmick?" Yes! That's actually exactly how you do it! Ace Attorney is an expert at this! Still don't like the dog. Also no huntsman we've ever seen has a dog, right? Weird. See, this seems to imply the Goliaths here are like, the same as Beowulfs or whatever that just lived that long. but… This is later retconned. As far as we know, Salem just creates whatever the hell she needs, and Grimm don't change forms over time. It does appear like they gain more armor over time… sometimes anyways. Like, they probably do grow within a single 'species', but these goliaths aren't any different than the newborns we see later. I also do like Ooblek's motivation. That is a valid reason to be a teacher in this shitty nonsensical world.

Ep 10: I appreciate this conversation but here's the thing: Blake speaking of her semblance this way implies they're aware semblances are, well, tied to their characters. This isn't necessarily a problem, if maybe a bit on the nose, but then… wouldn't it also imply everyone should consider what their semblance means? What does Sun's semblance say about himself? That he's always willing to lend a hand? What about, idk, Pyrrha? How does metalbending (And yes, it's metalbending, not polarity, she makes shit levitate not just attract or repel from herself) tie to her personality? Is it just a reflection of her prodigious skill? You'd think it was the other way around. Yang's is obvious (She prefers rolling with the blows), Weiss's too (it's a hereditary semblance), and Ruby's… well, depending on whether we consider the V7/8 development a retcon or not it could change meaning, but let's say it's meant to represent how she's always rushing ahead. So, this being said, woudln't character development change one's semblance? It would be interesting, in fact. Maybe Ruby's semblance wasn't always what it later is, but her experiences changed it. Maybe the inconsistency in Yang's semblance is a reflection of this. I know I'm thinking too hard and nobody ever thought about it, but it's sort of a Jojo's stands situation. In Jojo, your stand is a manifestation of your soul and can develop alongside you. Ruby, girl, NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY. Ruby, girl, you have SUPER SPEED. HOW HAVE YOU NOT TRAINED YOURSELF TO ACTIVATE IT WHEN SHIT LIKE THAT HAPPENS TO YOU. Ruby, girl: you. have. SUPER. SPEED. RUN AWAY. I know he says he's stupid but he really kind of is. Wouldn't 'underground city' be the first place you look at when looking for crime organizations?

Ep 11: RUBY GIRL YOU HAVE S U P E R S P E E D RUN AWAY FUCKING HELL YOU'RE NOT EVEN TIED YOU JUST WOKE UP SO YOU CAN'T BE SPENT Jesus, FUCKING FINALLY WHY EVEN TRY TO FIGHT IF YOU'RE THIS USELESS. Which makes no sense, tbw. Crescent Rose, even if it was built with ultralight metals, would still require strenght to use just based on the recoil those shots have and the balance of the whole thing. Ruby should pack a punch. Anyways giving your MC super speed in any capacity is a problem because of shit like this. Superspeed is the most powerful of the 'basic' superpowers (That is: Strenght, Flight, Speed and Endurance. Most stories with superpowers include these 4 in some capacity and speed tends to be the most limited one). I like the bombs moment. It's pretty funny. See what I mean? Ruby shooting herself like that means her arms must take the recoil! Even if we take Aura into account this girl should be at least decently strong. I… could do without the dog moment. Like… it's just more offputting than anything else. Ooblek does take another paladin by himself, which is nice to see, in the 'oh yeah he's a step above the MCs' way. Why does Weiss suddenly give Blake the dust bullets? Why not before? Why not… idk, talk to her about it? Why even make them? Did Weiss ask for them? If so, again, why not give them to her before? I mean I know the answer is probably 'Monty fight scene had this thing and writers had to scramble to fill in the gap' but still. Why does Yang have that moment with Neo? They've only had that one 'interaction' which wasn't particularly personal before. See? The WF leader(?) here makes some sense. We know the Schnees have beef with the Faunus and the White Fang (That being, they're slaver pieces of shit and all that). And, uh, Blake against Roman is… I get what they're going for, but… Idk, I feel Ruby and Roman would've felt more natural. Given they do have that in V3 so I'll let it pass. Man, I love Roman so much. Have I said that before? The biggest crime in early RWBY is not giving him enough screentime, really. I love the theory that he doesn't even have Aura unlocked, since he's clearly not the best fighter out there, man's just very skilled at doing his job. Which doesn't often involve fighting wannabe hunter teenagers. It's why he's basically knocked out after so few blows. Weiss should do the 'haste' glyph thing a lot more often really. Action economy, girl! Everyone knows it's the key to win! I wish Neo had more of a… thing. Like, in general. Her fight against Yang is great, but how the hell did she get that skilled? Why's she working for Roman? Why does she care for Roman so much that she later becomes obsessed with killing Ruby so hard that when she thinks she's done she loses all purpose in life? Not really sure how to feel abotu Raven here. At least we got the Yang backstory to even explain there's something going on there but it feels so… random. And why is Neo so scared? What does she know? Why would she know it? SHE HAS NO BACKSTORY And THIS is why you want your general population with their fucking Aura unlocked!

On the Bees: Man the second Dual Destinies turnabout is kind of a chore so far. Like, I figured pretty much everything by the middle of the first day and I still got another day of investigation and trial to go through? I think the case could be improved considerably by just not showing the face of the killer. I know it's ace attorney tradition to show you the first couple of killers, but still. I like Simon well enough I guess. What happened to Gavin? I don't remember him being fired at the end of AJ.

Ep 12: Jaune taking command, nice. Was that foreshadowing for Ren's backstory? Honestly, not a huge fan of this fight. It's supposed to be super big in scale but I guess the budget didn't allow it? It also feels like it kinda lacks momentum. Also didn't we just spend like 3 episodes exploring Ruby doesn't have physical strength? Why's she kicking the Grimm like that? Don't get me wrong, this makes more sense, I'm just confused. I know it's a common complaint that team Coffee shows up here to steal the show for a bit, since they barely get any screentime ever. It's a fine complaint, understandable. I… actually kinda like it. Also ONE OF THE GUYS IS HOLDING OATHBRINGER. WHAT'S HIS NAME. GREEN GUY. Based. I feel like we should have seen a few adult hunters showing up, though. Non-teachers I mean. Huh. Ironwood did always have his sinister authoritarian vibes. I like that. I still love roman. And that ending dream thing huh. I'm sure the eventual meeting of these two will be totally worth it.

For an extra this volume: I watched some of the shorts! I think these were the ones around by V2? Or maybe up to V3? Idk.

WoR "Dust": I assume V6 retroactively kind of explains Dust as the literal dust old humanity was turned into? Which is why it can interact with Aura? Very fucked up, but I like it. I'm on the fence on whether I think they had the creation myth figured by this point or not, but I do think they probably had the rough draft for it. Anyways this short doesn't really add much? It explains the 4 basic types and that you can mix them to make new ones, but everything else we probably could've figured ourselves.

WoR "Kingdoms": Ok so, Vacuo and Vale share a continent, while the other two are in split continets. Just taking note for later, not sure how relevant it becomes. In a worldbuilding sense, I don't think it's very reasonable to actually believe small towns could ever be built outside of big cities protected by natural barriers. Most people are clearly useless in a fight against Grimm, and honestly, just leaving the city shoudl be more than enough nervousness and doubt to attract hordes of them.

WoR "Grimm": Not much to say here, other than just generally wondering why Salem wouldn't just wipe out humanity herself sans a small amount of people who she could pin as Oz and the maidens. And don't say she couldn't have: If she can create that giant whale thing she could've done so a couple thousand years ago when technology wasn't so advanced. If you told me she was purposefully playing this game with Ozma, trying to keep it somewhat fair, I'd understand, but she clearly isn't. Oh well.

Anyways, I think I enjoyed this volume more than the last! Which is weird, I think people consider this to be the weakest of the first three. Idk, despite everything, I found the overall pacing to be slightly better, and we get some deeper info on our characters which is always appreciated. Not much else to say in general, but hey. Also yes, it's still a mess.

Also I'm fairly certain Pyrrha still not passing the bechdel test.

Also, if by any chance you're reading this, Crimson: 1) Why. Why do that to yourself. 2) Last volume you kept flipping your shit at me shipping whiterose and such (and other stuff but idrc about that). You seem to be unaware of the concept of chemistry. Ruby and Weiss are shippable because they have chemistry. Ruby and Penny are shippable because they have chemistry. Actually, all the characters I mentioned as potentially shippable displayed fair amounts of chemistry. And that's always my main concern with bumblebee. Sorry, but "vibing" while not interacting is very much NOT chemistry. It's kind of the opposite. Right now, with the information these two volumes have offered, I could write a lot of dynamics with a certain amount of ease. Bumblebee… not so much, because their interactions are still blank fucking slates. And I'm sorry to say this, but no, emptiness isn't 'complexity' or 'depth'. The only complex thing here is the fucking mental gymnastics you're doing to justify not only every bumblebee moment but also the show's writing as if it was flawless and perfect lmao.

8. How closely do you identify with/as your s/i's, if you have any?

I touched on this a bit in my last ask, but it's a variation depending on the s/i. With Volya, I poured so much of myself into her that it feels like we're a mobius strip, I'm not sure where I end and she begins. She's the most s/i character I've ever made; she's her own person, but she's also just me, stripped down to my bare essentials.

Emilia's a really different story though, and I'm not gonna lie? I find that very interesting. I think it may have something to do with the fact that she's a lot more recent than Volya, but I definitely don't identify as strongly with her (yet) as I do Volya. That might change more in time the more I write Emilia, but she does come across to me as a lot more confident and in control of her life and her circumstances, than I am. She knows what she wants, and she's comfortable in her own body and with her own desires (I Think, anyway, she might contradict me later on this). That's still smth I struggle with, but maybe one day I'll be able to relate more strongly with her!

13. How close do you prefer to stay to canon?

It entirely depends on the 'verse. My initial universe for Volya with Poe, picks up canon and gently tosses it out the airlock. It is a hard canon divergence, starting midway through the Poe comics, and pretty drastically alter the course of the films themselves. More recent 'verses for her though, have followed a little more in-line with canon; they still shake up the timeline for the comics, but I think the movies more or less happen the same, just with the addition that Poe actually has someone in his corner.

With Emilia, I haven't played hardly at all with her 'verse with Miguel so I don't know much about that, but she only meets Marc until after the events of the first season of MK - about a year after, actually. So currently, it's also canon divergent from wherever they may go after that. I might change things later, or make another universe that stays more in line, but I also have a habit of treating the current 'verse I have for her, as not part of the m.cu, because I forget mk is part of it. I do have a timeline for her that fits the m.cu though, just in case I ever want to play with that.

25. Any favorite shipping tropes you usually love but don't like in your selfships? Or any tropes you usually can't stand but like in your selfships?

Hm. I don't think I have any tropes that I love, that I don't like for my self-ships to be honest. As for the rest of the question - I wouldn't really say they're tropes I can't stand, but they're also not tropes that I would actively seek out if I wasn't writing them. I have an AU where Poe and Leia are First Order, and he and Volya were already romantically involved when he leaves for the First Order to stay with Leia, and Volya remains with the Resistance. At some point, it becomes an objective to recruit Volya to their ranks because she's too much of an asset to the Resistance and a threat to the First Order, so Poe begins the slow going process of trying to seduce Volya over to the dark side by leaning on their feelings for each other -- they even sleep together while still enemies. Volya pretty much gets into bed with him, knowing that this is another attempt to get her to join him. It's definitely not a trope I would seek out, being as toxic and messy as it is, and it definitely should hit some squicks of mine, but since I'm writing it, it doesn't bother me yanno?

More recently, Emilia and Marc kind of shocked me because I realized that I think their relationship actually begins as fwb. I have never read any fics with that trope before, so the fact that it got stuck in my brain really surprised me. But it works really well for them and it's been a lot of fun writing it!

- something about studyiny abroad again. after class I was supposed to keep this nice lady prof company & we went on a 3 hour trian ride to the middle of the countryside to place I'd been before that wasn't real. the people that lived here were superstitious about these bird things. don't think of them don't say it and be polite to them always..if you see them hide and close your eyes. they had feathers tall dressed in all black with white raven skull like masks but huge. and they're surroundd by cold air and whipping winds. we were in the lady's car when I saw one and I told her we needed to pull over and vlose our eyes but she wanted to see it up close so I put a blanket over myself anf lay on the backseat. it was outside the car.

- a bit different now, I was in the village up aheaf and they had this weird landscape thing some tall and curled cliff but a bar on top. I was meeting up with a dude who called himself like Francis but I saw him he was a guy I'd known in middle school who dated one of my friends for a little bit& then another girl I knew& he actually proposed to her last year. anyway I was like ok 3 questions: 1. aren't you named David 2. like from[name f school] & 3. what brings you here. idk what happened next but I ended up having to share some ground floor hotel with the lady from earlier and also some girls from college. I didn't want to. I was like ma'am I didn't sign up for any of this shit. I want to go back I'll miss my flight home& I'll be stranded on this side of the fucking ocean or be out ,$500 to get back. but there were a lot of those bird things outside. - smth with my sister, it was dark, there was some giant mechanical structure, we were at the lights on the way to the grocery store by the intersection near the highway.

- it was towards the end of a game with a lot of environments. I'd saved everything. I know to end the game I had to set up any combination of the type of tree and area at the center of the world machine& go into the water around the corner into a small room with a big pipe in the middle they went underwater. I was supposed to go in there to the heart of it& die to truly save else. but I was scared. there were watching. I want Ray to leave this world. if I got stuck? what if I drowned? I put both my legs in it& it felt a little slimy. I wasn't ready. why did I have to die to save a world I only just met? It wasn't fair. I ended up escaping& running as far north as I could - the edge of the territory. there were people there, but I never saw them, only the chicken coop& clear other signs of Biuilt things & activity. there was a dog. a little Shiba thaty loved barking.

I'm not sure what it was. they surfed or zipped or launched or skated on these cables? that held up the sky or something. but it felt like flying. a gorilla saw him& got so confused. it broke one of the cables, but the person I was in didn't falter. maybe it really was flying.

A/n from the future: I'm so sorry this took so long! I've been stuck writing this for months because I couldn't get it the way I wanted it to be. I felt bad for how long it was taking, so I tried just writing it in a simple way. I hope you'll still like this!

My relationship to my stepson was… fairly neutral, to be honest. It’s not like I didn’t want to form a relationship with him, honestly, I do! It’s just a little weird between us. I’m nice to him and Harry is nice to me. But I could feel that he was mostly being coldly polite to me. Every time we talk he always gives vague, generic, or incredibly simplistic responses. And our conversations were always as short as they possibly could be. 

But I want to change things. He’s a good son who wants his father to be happy, which I respect. We’re family. I’m hoping we can become closer than this business-like relationship we currently have. I’m not sure how to start. We might have the same interests? Though it was hard to tell if we did. 

There had to be something I could try talking about with him. Maybe video games? I know that he and his friend Peter often play their games when they hang out. I like playing them too. I’m not sure what games they play however. We could be playing completely different games. For a while I debated whether or not I should just ask Harry what games he enjoys or if I should look in his room. I reach the conclusion that I should just ask him when I get the chance. Invading his personal space also wouldn’t really improve our relationship either. So that’s what I set out to do. Next time I see Harry I'll ask him.

It certainly was a hard thing to do. I barely saw Harry anyways, when I wasn’t trying to talk to him, since he was always either hanging out with friends, out at his classes, or just kind of avoiding staying at home for long. It certainly felt like he was doing that just to avoid me, but I knew it was him avoiding Norman and me. They don’t have the closest relationship either, though Norman is trying, especially with my encouragement. Their relationship is certainly better than ours, but that’s like saying that a pile of dirt is better than a pile of mud. 

“It shouldn’t be that hard to talk to him. Just talk to him like I would with any of my friends,” I think to myself as I grab a cup of water. As I turn around I collide with something solid, spilling my water all over the place. I look up and see none other than Harry himself. He looks rather annoyed, but more so at the fact water was spilt all over his shirt rather than at me. Although I think he might be a bit annoyed with me as well. 

“And there goes my new shirt.” He says, voice laced with disappointment as he inspects the material. 

“I’m so sorry, Harry! I didn’t see you and I didn’t think you’d be home right now.” That was true. I thought he had class right now. “Well I’m here. Right now, with water all over me.” He’s about to push past me when I stop him, paper towels in hand. 

“Can you really blame me for not knowing? You never really talk to me. I can’t really know your schedule if you don’t share it with me.” I say as I look for the nearest real towel to use. I needed to make this conversation become positive. Fast. Before he leaves. “I tell my father my schedule. Doesn’t he tell you?” He asks. He throws away the soaked paper towels. He turns and looks at me. His expression is still annoyed, yet there’s a mix of curiosity there. I shake my head. 

“No, not really,” I lean against the counter, “He usually just tells me what the two of you do, and how he’s glad you seem to be doing well,”

Harry sighs. I guess he really thought his dad told me. I don’t think even Norman fully remembers Harry’s schedule. “Of course he didn’t. Go figure,” he huffs. He turns his attention to the fridge, looking inside to find something. Okay, gotta steer this conversation now.

“But I’d love to know your schedule, Harry. Just tell me what it is and I'll remember.” I’ll certainly do my best to remember it, at least. I’m inevitably gonna forget a few things. His eyes cast over to me briefly, considering my words, before looking back into the fridge. “I mean it. I can’t say that I’ll always remember your schedule exactly, but I’ll try to remember most of it, if you’ll share it with me.” I smile reassuringly at him. He finally grabs a soda from the fridge. He turns to me. For a moment he stares before returning my smile. A genuine smile. I notice that his shirt is still soaked from my water. “I’m really sorry about the water. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Harry dismisses that with a wave of his hand. “Don’t worry about it. I wasn’t paying attention either,” he gives me another smile. “I, uh, guess I’ll try telling you and dad what I’m up to, alright?” He starts heading toward the exit. 

“Wait!” I say, reaching out. He stops and looks at me, an eyebrow raised. “I was thinking that we could try spending some time together, if you’re not busy?” He contemplates his answer for a moment. 

“I mean, I’m not doing anything right now. I was just watching TV. You could join me if you want?”

“I was actually wondering if we could play some video games together.”

“Sure. I’ve got a few you might like.”

Happy I managed to get on better terms with Harry, I eagerly followed him to his room. We head inside the messy room. At least it was mostly clothes, papers, and books thrown about the place instead of trash. The mess bothers me a little, but I ignore it. It’s not a big deal anyways. I sit down on the bed as Harry sets up his Playstation 2. 

“What game do you want to play?” He shows me the games he has. I haven’t played any of them, so I let Harry pick. “Whichever one you like the best, Harry.” He smiles before picking one of the games. “Have you ever played this one before?” I shake my head. I grab the other controller as Harry joins me on the bed. His grin turns mischievous.

“Oh no. I don’t like that look,” he laughs in response.

“Don’t worry, (Y/N), it doesn’t mean anything.” 

“Sure. And I’m the Queen of England.”

(Third Person POV)

A few hours later, after a long day at work, Norman returns home. He sighed; today was a stressful day. And tomorrow was sure to be just as, if not more, stressful. All he wanted to do was just take a nice hot bath, change into his silk robes, and collapse into bed, his wife in his arms. 

He smiled as he thought of his wife. She always brightened his mood no matter how bad she was feeling. Norman walked out of the elevator and into his penthouse, wondering where Y/N could be. He walked by the study she likes to work in, but he saw there was nobody inside. He didn’t hear anything in the kitchen either. He figured he’d see his wife in their shared bedroom instead. As he walked down the hallway he heard excited yelling coming from his son’s room. Curious, Norman pushes the door open wider to find Y/N and Harry playing on the latter’s console.

The two kept shouting as they played, clearly trying to beat the other at whatever game they were playing. The sight made Norman smile. While his relationship with his son has been improving significantly, the relationship between Y/N and Harry seemed to be stuck at neutrality. This was a step in the right direction. The two most important people in Norman’s life bonding. He couldn’t help the elated grin across his countenance. It dropped for a moment when the two shouted once more.

“Yes!”

“No!”

Harry, in his victory, threw his hands up in the air. Meanwhile, Y/N crossed his arms and pouted for a moment before laughing. “You picked that game because you knew you’d win, didn’t you Harry?” She asks in a teasing voice. Harry laughs. “Maybe. Or maybe you’re just really bad,” he turns to give her a smirk when he sees his father in the doorway. His eyes widened in surprise briefly before smiling. 

“Hey, dad.” Y/N turns to face her husband. She gives a small wave. “How long were you standing there?” Harry asks. 

Norman gives them a smile. “Enough to see your victory, Harry. Congrats!” Y/N shakes her head. “No I’m pretty sure he cheated, so technically I won,” she playfully nudges the college student. 

“Is it really cheating if you’re playing against a bad player?” 

“Aw c’mon, I wasn’t that bad!” She pouts once more. 

Harry chuckles. “The score begs to differ,” he gestures to the TV. And sure enough, the trio could see that Player 1 was leagues ahead of Player 2. The completely different scores made Norman laugh. Blushing, Y/N grabbed Harry’s controller and handed it back to him. 

“Then how about a rematch?” 

“You’re on!”

Y/N turns to Norman as Harry sets the game up. “Honey, do you want to be the referee? You know, to make sure somebody,” she points at Harry, “doesn’t cheat?” Harry rolls his eyes at his stepmom, but the smile on his face gives away how he truly feels. Norman steps into the room and joins the two on his son’s bed.

- obv eren, mikasa, and armin have been besties since childhood so its no wonder they all got together first 🤩🙏

- and theyre all hot so why wouldnt they wanna date each other

- i think armin and eren wouldve gotten together first, and then invited mikasa into their relationship

- the three of them have been officially going steady for like over a year now, and its going really well

- they didnt really expect you to drop into their lives tho

- youre an old friend of historia's and you two reconnected after you moved to the city, securing yourself a decent paying job working as a writer for the city paper

- you usually get the boring stuff, never able to get a good story to write about, focusing your time on heartwarming stories in the community or the sports column

- its boring but it pays the bills

- you were thankful when historia called you during your lunch and asked if you wanted to get drinks at a bar with her and a couple of other friends

historia nodded. "mhm ! y/n's been talking to someone recently, they've gone on dates and kissed and stuff."

"and stuff, jesus tori you make it sound like we've had sex." you sighed.

the blonde just laughed, leaning her body onto her freckled companion.

"well ? what about her ?" eren asks. armin slapped him on the arm, already having suspicions about eren's interest in you.

your shoulders sagged. "well, she's great and everything, truly..."

"but ? is there a but in this ?" connie asked. sasha started laughing at connie's use of the word but, while jean slapped the girl on the arm because of her reaction.

you shrugged, swirling what was left of your fruity cocktail in your glass. "well, i'm not sure. she's very lively, and sweet. but i don't know, i just don't see myself being able to be in a steady relationship with her."

"so you're gonna end it ?" eren asked. you thought he seemed a bit too eager about your failure in the love department.

"why do you care so much ? you like the thought of me being lonely ?" you shot back, before downing the rest of your drink.

"no i just-"

"i think what eren means is," mikasa intervened, her smooth voice calming you as she looked at you with a smile on her face. "is that there's no point in staying with her if you can't see yourself with her. don't lead her on."

you nodded. "you're exactly right my friend. which is the plan for tonight because i," you quickly checked the time on your phone. 8:17. "have a date with miss molly at nine, so i will be taking my leave."

the group engaged in a chorus of boos for leaving so early, while you chuckled and took the lighthearted insults thrown at you by sasha and connie with ease. grabbing all of your things you put down two twenties onto the table. "i'll see you guys later, have a goodnight." as you walked off you heard jean yell "have a good time you heartbreaker !" making you shake your head

- the date with molly went less then well. she yelled, and cried, and even tried hitting you at one point. your walk back from the park was spent blocking her on every form of social media you followed her on, and when you got back to your apartment you spent the night in a hot bath before retiring to bed

- meanwhile, armin and mikasa were trying to pry the truth out of eren, who was constantly denying his attraction to you

- finally mikasa took one for the team "eren, you aren't alone with the way you feel, i do too." this made eren more willing to open up to his partners

- armin doesnt say anything about you, only saying how youre kind. he doesnt feel the way that his girlfriend and boyfriend do, but he knows that may change

- soon enough, more time flies and christmas rolls around, with you all deciding to have a secret santa get together.

- historia invites everyone to her home on christmas eve, with ymir begrudgingly allowing it

- bertholdt and annie come too, reiner not being able to make it due to going home for christmas, while everyone else decided to stay in the city

- you picked out your secret santas at the beginning of november so you would all have enough time to find something for each other, you hoped whoever picked your name gave you something good

- after hours of games and karaoke and drinking you all decided it was time to open the presents

- ymir got socks from bertholdt, connie got an ugly beanie from ymir, historia got new pens from mikasa, mikasa got knitting needles from annie, annie got a dumbell from eren, jean got a not so appropriate t shirt from connie, jean gave sasha more comic books, armin gave new stationary paper to bertholdt, sasha gifted you that new biography you've been wanting to read and you gave armin your old copy of frankenstein by mary shelley

- he was surprised but very thankful, "how did you know i needed a new copy ?" "well i remember you said eren spilt water on your old one, and the pages just stuck together so i thought you might as well have mine"

- it warmed armin's heart that you remembered something so insignificant, and opened him up to the thought of being with you

- the rest of the night was spent with hugs and thankfulness, cheering when the clock struck 12 and it became christmas day

- after getting things cleaned up everyone decided it was time to leave, with armin, eren and mikasa offering to give you a ride home

- a ride where armin straight up kissed you in the backseat

- you stopped him of course, thinking that it was weird he would cheat on his partners right in front of them, while they were shocked all on their own for different reasons, armin who didnt have feelings for you KISSED you

- and surprisingly armin took the lead in explaining how he felt, why he kissed you, an apology for doing so, and an offer to start dating all three of them

- your heart was pounding in your ears and your entire face felt hot, it was probably the alcohol, or the way his lips felt so soft when they touched yours, so you said yes.

- this is your first relationship where you really feel like you could love these guys (you already do) but its also your first relationship with multiple people

- the trio start inviting you over more often, soon for sleepovers, and start inviting themselves over at your own place, mainly eren

- he just comes at random times, sometimes when youre not even there and waits for you, or stays and cleans up a bit before leaving

- armin and you share a deep love of literature, and you often find yourselves in hot debates about whatever youve read (mikasa and eren have to pry you two away before things get physical)

- mikasa likes to cook with you, she shares recipes that her mom taught her, and her and armin love to cook dinner together whereas eren is the breakfast maker of the household

- the first time you slept in the same bed as them you were so nervous your whole body thumped to the tune of your heartbeat, you were convinced armin could even hear it as he was laying beside you, but eren wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you into his large chest before whispering "youre as stiff as a board, relax honey"

- eren snores, mikasa drools, armin has those dreams where you fall and then violently wake up before you hit the ground

- slowly but surely you stop thinking about your relationship as the trio and you, but as all of you together, and that really helps you come out of your shell a bit

- you may still be in the honeymoon phase, and there may be bumps along the way, but you like being with armin, eren, and mikasa. they make you so happy, it feels like the happiest youve been in a long time

- you like watching eren and armin dance in the living room while you and mikasa cuddle on the couch, before the boys pull you two up as well

- you like when armin reads to you, his soft voice reciting the words of the great gatsby

- you like it when eren can just tell youve had a rough day, and pulls you into a hug like hes protecting you from all the bad things in the world

- you love being with them. you love them. and you think that theyre it for you

For the Original Fiction ask game! I'd love to know 1, 3, 12, 19, and 27. ^_^ (Feel free to only answer a couple if that's too many! :D)

1. Are there any themes you tend to explore?

I like to explore betrayal, love thats both healthy and unhealthy, secrets, and control/giving up control most. Most things I wrote will deal with those themes (and yes both Second Chance and Syndicate have all of those)

3. What is your biggest challenge with writing original fiction?

I never wrote fanfic so it's not like, in comparison, but I'd say my biggest challenge is probably not being abpe to see ahead enough that I get stuck and lose momentum. That's what kills my stories, or at least kills my motivation.

12. When do you usually come up with a title?

Ummmm. Syndicate is a working title still, and I've had the totle Second Chance really early on. So either it hits me early in the process with something perfect or I practically never think of a good one until like 3/4 through where I put some work into coming up with something decent.

19. What was the first idea that eventually turned into the story? How much has it changed?

I'll answer for both.

Syndicate has changed so much it's not recognizable from the original idea. The original was "lets freewrite smth dark from the pov of a kid who gets abused a lot."

That kid was not Terran for the record. That kid does not exist in the current draft. That freewrite turned into a whole story that was super teen writer edgy but it gave birth to the really intriguing idea of Raymond’s faked death and Terran switching sides as a dynamic. That was a plot twist in the first version, and it became the premise for this version. In fact, the only thing that existed at the beginning thay still exists is Mika-- she was the original kid's protector/guardian, and she's remained an important and interesting character that will remain (that's why I have so much love for her).

Second Chance started with an idea I had brewing for a while of just the premise-- someone (originally a boy) who libed every day twice. I think it was a "wouldn't this be cool" throught experiment that my freind loved. Then, I wanted to nanowrimo 4 years ago and started sketching it out, figuring out what plot I could get and why it happened, and Russell was created basically to provide those answers (and, spoilers, bc I knew I had to put betrayal in the story because i love that theme). After writing it and winning nano, I let it settle for a while until now, where I've now gotten enough distance to make big changes. However, I think this would actually be recognizable. I changed the MC's gender, worked her character out more, put them in college, and made a few other big changes that leave less plot holes and answer the questions better. I'm trying not to overcomplicate and leave some of the basic structure, but have the advantage of more developed worldbuilding and a better idea of the themes of the series.

I shared a line for 27 already, I could share another but I don't really have time rn so maybe I will later.
