i saw the creeper necklace you made yesterday and i was wondering how you attached the creeper on? is it lego or smth else? it just looks super awesome and i wanted to try and make my own
Oh of course! I have a few ways of attaching things to my kandi, in this case I used my little rotary thing to make a hole, then screw in a pin! (With my hand!! no other tools needed) Use any jump ring to attach it directly to the string oooor loop it through a bead!
Here I used a random metal circle I had and cut it open to use as a jump ring, and I prefer looping through a bead bc it looks nicer and feels more secure imo ^^
Thanks for asking!! I love to share my techniques and ideas 🐱💖
Good luck!! 🌈

Fall Fashion Staples (+ what I’ll be lurking for Black Friday)
(and Cyber Monday!)
Hi friends! How are you? Hope you’re enjoying the morning. Thank you again for all of the beautiful birthday wishes and for making my birthday weekend even brighter. I’m so thankful for all of you.
Remember back when I did a Fall Capsule Wardrobe? It was the first time I really streamlined my closet and enjoyed the simplicity of having fewer items of high quality. (It really was time to bid adieu to my ridiculous collection of souvenir t-shirts.) I rotated through my favorite pieces for the season, and many of those original items still live in my closet. I gravitated away from the capsules wardrobe thing – let’s be real, I just like shopping too much – but still tend to focus on a higher amount of classic pieces with some of the fun, trendier items mixed in.
I thought I’d share some of the things I’m loving the most this fall and winter!
Shoes
I’ve never been a huge shoe person – give me all the handbags and jeans – but really love the shoes that are in style this season. I wear my casual grey slip-ons all the time and managed to find the perfect brown booties.
Mules
Booties. I’ve worn these so many times already. They give me a little bit of height (<— always appreciated) and are very comfortable.
Leopard flats. These are surprisingly neutral and the price is awesome.
Pointy lace-up flats. 40% off right now!
Slip-ons
Hunter boots (I have a red pair and picked out a classic black pair for my b-day)
Denim
Embellished jeans (Anthro has a cute pair here)
Destroyed jeans
Classic dark wash jeans (on sale right now!)
Tops
Classic white v-neck
Black v-neck sweater
Simple sweater dress
Super soft plaid flannel
Choker top
Grey drape sweater
Outerwear
Moto jacket. The fit on this one is very tailored and flattering.
Cargo jacket
Camo print jacket. <— on sale!
Patagonia everyday jacket
Since Black Friday is around the corner, I’m determined to crush all of our family gifts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I did this last year, scored some awesome deals, and felt wayyyy less stressed out than usual. (I used to be the person frantically sprinting around the mall on Christmas Eve.) Since we’ll be in Georgia for the holidays, this will also give me the chance to wrap everything and get it shipped on time.
I’ll be sharing my annual gift guides over the next few weeks, but here are some of the things I’ll be scoping out:
– Dyson cordless vacuum (I’ve been wanting one for a couple of years now. ’Tis time.)
– Amazon Fire Kids (We have an iPad for the girls that they’re allowed to use on road trips. Since Liv is getting older and wants to watch different shows than P while we travel, I figured they could each have their own.)
– Omaha Steaks and Harry & David (LOVE giving these as gifts and they usually have awesome freebies and discount codes over the holidays)
– Sephora gift sets! The VIB sale is happening now, so I’ll likely stock up on my favorite Tarte products (this brush set is bananas) and gift sets for friends/family.
– Weighted blankets.
– Instant Pots! I’m obsessed with mine and can think of a couple of ladies in the family who need one, too. I’m sure Amazon will have an amazing deal.
– Stocking stuffers for the kiddos, like LEGO’s, little dolls, sunglasses, mittens, and necklaces.
– Old Navy! Their flash sales are always ridiculous, and they have great outerwear for the kiddos, tees, leggings, and pajamas.
– A dressy watch for the Pilot. He usually wears his tactical watch, but it would be nice to get him a silver one for when he’s all fancypants.
I’m excited to keep brainstorming over the next week. My favorite part of the season by far is spending time with those we love, but I definitely enjoy picking out little treats and gifts over the holiday season.
I’d love to hear what you’ll be lurking on Black Friday/Cyber Monday!
What are some of the things in your constant closet rotation right now?
xo

Fossil Collecting
As far back as I can remember I have always been one for collecting things. From models, toys, stamps, coins, you name it I may have collected it. However some of my favorite things to collect are indeed fossils. I have always been kind of a rock-hound; shoot my whole family collects rocks, shells, and things like that. As for me I have always spent time collecting fossils and getting to appreciate the orgasms of prehistory. Allow me to show you some of my fossils from my own little collection that I have collected over the years. It is not much but it is a nice little collection but it has a lot of offer.
Here is one of my most prized fossils I have collected over the years. Now sometimes I look for them and sometimes I will buy them it just depends on price and what it is. This is one I bought like I posted earlier from Inner Space Caverns and it is a Megalodon Tooth. As you know I have a thing for sharks. Sharks are really amazing to study. This is a pretty good sized tooth segment. I am still looking for a display case where I can display my fossils on stands and things so that way they are out where I can see them when I walk past. This one is one of my favorites in my tiny collection. I have more shark teeth but this one is the largest I have by far. It was the largest fish in the sea at one point that is why its teeth are so large.
Here is Charlie who I got at the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center. I got him when I turned 13 on my last trip to Colorado. My what a trip that was. This was one of the coolest fossils in my collection. Most of my fossils come from the ocean or inland sea variety. I am an avid collector of ocean things so it is no wonder really. I also have some polished petrified wood in the collection. I am still looking for more pieces in my collection but it is growing at a slow but steady pace. Charlie is the only full fish I own. I called this fish charlie after Charlie Tuna. This fish is really interesting to look at. He is a couple of inches long and in really good condition. Some of the spinal cord has some vertebra missing but he is mostly there. He was the most complete fish in the fossils that were up for sale there. I think this was a really good purchase for a fossil.
Some really small Trilobites I found at Mineral Wells Fossil Park in Mineral Wells Texas. If you have a chance to go there definitely take it. The place may look like just a hole in the ground but you can find a king’s ransom in fossils that are from the Pennsylvanian Period. The whole area where the fossils are was once and inland sea. These were the only two I found that day. I have not been there in a few years but I am hoping to go back sometime in the near future to go and look for more things and to see if I can’t find anything new. Trilobites are one of my favorite fossils. I also love the Fossil Pokemon Kabutops so that is why I have a fondness for these. These are fairly small and not like some you can collect at other places. Most of the fossils at the Mineral Wells fossil site are pretty tiny and you have to literally get on your hands and knees to find these fossils. In a bit I will give you some tips on how to prepare for your own fossil hunting trip.
A cool Ammonite I purchased around the same time as my fish fossil when I was on my last Colorado trip. We went up to a rock shop in the mountains when I found this in a glass case. It only cost me about eleven bucks but the specimen is amazing. These are related to the octopus and the squid. These closest living thing to these creatures today is the creature known as the Chambered Nautilus. The nautilus is a really cool creature. It is kind of accident prone since they mainly swim backwards all of their lives. They can’t see where they go half the time and often run into rocks. I am sure life was the same for these fellas. Ammonites can range to being really small to as big as a small child or bigger. These are super cool and were the food source creatures such as Ichthyosaurs and pleisosaurs and other marine reptiles. These are really cool and another one of my favorite types of fossils.
Some Sea Lily or Crinoid parts. Both shots are of the spinal cord section (first shot) are the individual spinal disks. Notice the shapes of the center don’t they remind you of the flowers on Spongebob Squarepants? That is what they look like to me. I find these really fun to collect. I have a necklace made from Crinoid spinal cord. These are what I call nature’s beads and I found these at Mineral Wells Fossil Park. These are really cool to collect. I have a few of the cup sections which would sit on top of each stalk. These guys would often time branch out and are closely related to Sea Anemone’s of today. These on the site are fairly small but most of the other stuff is quite small. Mostly Pennsylvanian Period fossils tend to be fairly small compared to other fossils in the timeline. These are some of my best pieces in my collection. Still have yet to make another trip out there to see if I can’t find any of their ancient shark teeth. They have one type of shark tooth out there that is kind of hard to find and I was not that lucky to find one. Next time I go I am bringing a sifter and a shovel to see what else I can manage to dig up.
A few more fossils I found at Mineral Wells Fossil Park were these Brachipods. These guys are a kind of bivalve creature. I am not sure which type they are but you can find quite a few of these on the site.
A couple more from the Mineral Wells collection. These are a few prehistoric snails or something. I have not had the time to ID these to the fullest but judging by their shape and size they are some type of ancient snail. I don’t have that many snail fossils but I do have quite a few shell fossils in my collection. Almost the whole collection I have is composed of prehistoric sea life which tend to be the most common fossils you can collect. Texas has some really good places to find fossils but you have to know where to look. Tandy Hill Nature Area is a place I visit on occasion and even though you can’t take anything out of the park I still take photos of fossils to add to my photo fossil collection. Hey sometimes pictures are the best alternative to having something and I take plenty of them.
So basically that is my fossil collection’s best bits and pieces. I hope you enjoyed the photos. I have more but I find these to be the best ones to talk about when I am sharing with people. Fossil hunting is fun and sometimes just bringing a shovel, a kneeling pad, magnifying glass, gloves, (on some digs) a hammer, chisels, toothbrush, and collection jars are the essentials to have when out on a dig. Don’t forget weather and dig appropriate attire is always a plus and sunscreen. I don’t do too much fossil hunting but I do love to have that kind of adventure from time to time. I have a lot of fun on digs and find some of the coolest things. I have been collecting since I was just a small boy. My first dig I ever went on was out at Eagle Mountain Lake here in Texas and my love for fossils and understanding what life must have been like back then has only grown. I am kind of a jack of all trades when it comes to nature. I am a birder, insect hunter, fossil and rock hound, you just can’t study one thing without dabbling in all the other stuff. It is all connected and doing this will allow you to understand the nature world as a whole. You gain a better knowledge of how animals adapted and evolved. So it is pretty fun to learn about all aspects of nature. I love my time in nature and every time I go out I always have the time of my life. Nature is an important facet in my life and I love to get out and explore it.
So until we meet again my friends I am Zachary AKA Galactic Bug Man and I will see you on my next adventure... See you on the trail!

How Did That Hold Up? (Vol. 6)
Hi friends! It’s time for an updated “How did that hold up?”. We do these posts every couple of years to share what held up amazing and also anything we regret! One of the tough things about DIY is that you don’t REALLY know how long it will last until years later. So that’s what I am going to get into today!
Note: All these photos are NEW from this summer (so there are years of wear on most of these projects, besides the gold closet rods, since they are more recent).
My Color Washed Floors <— view the full post here. I asked for requests on IG and far and away this was the most requested update from my home. We did these floors three summers ago before we moved in. And I am happy to report that they have held up FLAWLESSLY. There is no damage whatsoever. They are just as strong as the other wood floors in our home.
I do feel like I have to note, though, these are NOT just painted floors. It it NOT a good idea to paint your floors with wall paint … that will not hold up! Make sure you read the whole post before trying it. The key factors are that I had a professional flooring guy do them AND they are sealed exactly like all the other floors in our home.
The photo above doesn’t do them justice so I will show more on stories. But they look awesome!
As far as do I still LOVE the color … I do. But I will admit that I go back and forth. Sometimes, I wish they were the same as the rest of the house. But a lot of the time, I love the bold pop in this one room. So I do not plan to change it as long as we live here.
That said, I not sure what I will do when it’s time to sell our home someday—my sister says to leave it because the next owners may love it. I am afraid it could scare people off (and it’s not very expensive to change back so I don’t want that!). What do you think? Would that scare you off if you were house shopping?
Anyway, it doesn’t matter right now because we LOVE it. And this project TOTALLY held up. I am so happy! It could be done in any color … the possibilities are endless!
Our DIY Dining Room Table This table has been going strong for SO LONG … since 2012! Not bad for a $350 table that seats eight! I still love this table and for the style of our decor and the function of our home, I cannot imagine anything better!
We do paint it about once a year because it gets scratched. But I don’t think that is a big deal for a piece of furniture that is so heavily used.
I still love it SO much and have had zero desire to shop for a new table, and for the past six years we have been using this one.
Gold Closet Rods I will be honest … I was NERVOUS about this! It worked so well in Nova’s room but then in my room it was a disaster. So we redid it with this paint and now, after a few months, it has ZERO scratches (the last time it scratched up immediately). The difference is the better product, but I truly believe it is also the one week cure time (before any clothes were hung on it). If you do this project (or any other spray paint project that is going to be handled a lot), you need to let it cure.
Very, very happy about this so far, but in a year I will know for SURE whether it is a winner. But it’s looking VERY promising after about two months.
Our Recolored Appliances These are holding up. I am confident they will last until we move (and beyond). We paid $400 for the vinyl, which was custom printed with the color we chose and that also included installation.
I am happy with the colors. There are small flaws in the installation that bother me a little. The company that did it for me were definitely used to doing, like, band posters on the side of tour buses and jobs like that, so I am not surprised that they weren’t up to my level of perfectionism. Honestly, they were a hassle to communicate with, but the end result was worth it!
The vinyl is easy to clean and has aged really well (there aren’t any issues really). And when we sell our home, if the next owner doesn’t want the mint color, they can be peeled off super easily.
So, all in all, I would recommend the project because we saved thousands compared to the specialty appliance brands that offer colors AND we still have the option of going back to neutral if we wanted to.
Hopefully, for anyone else who takes on this project, you’ll get lucky and find a local vendor who is a little easier to work with. But honestly, even just having the photos of our appliances to show them will help!
Also, I will say that it’s totally possible to do the install yourself. But you would just want to make sure you use vinyl that is made for cars because it can safely go up to a very high heat and you need that for the oven.
Pink Bunk Beds The pink bunk beds were a good decision. We bought these affordable bunk beds from Amazon, painted them with pink oil-based paint and then added these felt succulent window boxes. We’ve used these beds A LOT and now that I’ve tried it I highly recommend bunk beds like these for a guest room.
Closet Organization I still love and appreciate this simple closet organization we installed every day. It basically took a blank wall and made it useful for storing hats, necklaces, scarves and bags.
I have to say, organization DIYs are SO WORTH IT. My closet and also pantry renovation are two of the best things we did to make better use of the space we have.
Cactus Stenciled Wallpaper This project was a good amount of work—one of the most time consuming DIYs in our home. But I still love it and there have been no issues with it whatsoever. It still looks just as good as the day we completed it. I would totally do this project again in the future. The gold paint pen makes it look really cool.
A few other projects people asked about …
Stick on Subway Tile (in our laundry room) I’m not sure when it happened, but we recently noticed that ONE block of tile from the peel & stick tile had turned yellow. Just one. And it was pretty noticeable. I have no idea why or how just one piece of the tile changed colors, but I was pretty disappointed! I probably would not do it again now just because I would be afraid of that happening again. It did save money to do the stick-on tile (on install), but it didn’t really save supply money. So it wasn’t one of those DIYs that could save you a huge chunk of money. I will go back and update that post with this new info about the color change.
I’m not saying that all peel & stick tile is problematic, because I am sure it isn’t. But I would no longer recommend what we used.
Luckily, we were already considering a more thorough renovation (we had never renovated this room, just changed a few finished when we first moved in). So it was pretty good timing for us. And what is kind of crazy is that I ended up choosing shiplap and it was less than half the price of the peel & stick tile.
Live and learn!
Chalk Paint Rainbow Wall A few people asked why we painted over this wall. It wasn’t because there was anything wrong with it. In fact, I really miss it and kind of regret painting over it.
But the reason I made that choice was because when I was designing the playroom I really wanted to use this leftover juju wallpaper I had on just one wall and it seemed crazy to have two statement walls in one room. So the wallpaper won.
The problem with the rainbow was that I did it before I knew what I was doing with the rest of the room … so it didn’t fit.
It’s still an awesome DIY and I hope some of you do it for your homes!
Faux Tile in Jeremy’s Entryway This still looks perfect! I don’t have a photo on my phone, but I’ll show it on IG stories. It is a very tedious project, but Collin did an amazing job! Since the space is covered and low-traffic, it hasn’t to be touched up yet. It’s lasting really well and really makes the space a lot more special and thought out.
White Walls and Light Floors I had a few questions on whether I ever regret having mainly white walls and floors and whether they are difficult to clean. I love them and I do think they hide mess a lot better than dark floors—especially since we have a lot of white-based rugs (that shed furballs) and a light colored dog.
ZERO regrets on the floor and I would totally do it again.
As for the walls, we do mainly use matte paint, so they do get smudged and scratched easier than semi-gloss. But I don’t mind a once yearly touch up and magic eraser (or just a wet washcloth) gets most of it.
I love living in an mainly white home! The only things I honestly EVER think about changing are the colored accents. Like our pink bathroom vanity or yellow guest room. I love them and they are some of the most “shared” photos from our home, but I do get an itch to change bold accents so so so much sooner than neutrals.
In our next home (which is years off, but I am still a psycho who loves to plan five years in advance…), I may consider a more high contrast look. Mainly because I had so much fun using those colors in our bnb home.
To answer the question though, white walls + light floors forever & always!
Thanks for reading!!! I am happy to talk about any other project you are curious about in the comments. Every design project is a learning experience for me and I don’t believe there is ANY shame in regretting a project once in a while or wanting to do it differently the next time. I know this post was mostly positive experiences, but that is also because the projects I remember to recap years later are the ones I use for years so they stay at the top of my mind!
These projects can be so intimidating so I hope these recaps of how things have held up are helpful. xx – Elsie

10 Simple Ways To Boost Your Confidence In Your 20s
New Post has been published on http://foursprout.com/happiness/10-simple-ways-to-boost-your-confidence-in-your-20s/
10 Simple Ways To Boost Your Confidence In Your 20s
Twenty20 / @criene
The 20s are seriously like a roller coaster. They are filled with ups and downs and many, many highs and lows. You change a LOT in your 20s. You go (and grow) from being basically a baby, entering the workforce, feeling proud about your new ID and your first legal drink, all the way to establishing yourself in the workforce (or having several different jobs), thinking about marriage (perhaps), going to grad school (possibly), buying a house or moving locations (also perhaps), and simply put, growing up. With career changes, school changes, housing decisions, relationship decisions, and the millions of other decisions you make in your 20s, it is HARD to always feel confident in yourself and in your decisions, especially when you keep getting knocked down or rerouted.
And society puts all kinds of pressure on us in our 20s. We start to believe that we have to do things by a certain age when we really don’t, and we also get preoccupied with comparing ourselves to other people and then feeling down about ourselves. For instance: when your plans didn’t go as you hoped and you didn’t start grad school by the ripe age of 24, did you suddenly panic and think that others would think you were lazy? Or did you immediately jump to the conclusion that you were falling behind and not doing a good job with…life? Or, do you get completely nervous in work meetings because you don’t feel confident enough to speak up…even a little bit? And then do you reach the conclusion that you are awkward and have poor communication skills, and then feel even worse about yourself?
Perhaps you constantly put yourself down because you are a chronic perfectionist. Perhaps you never feel comfortable in your clothes or in the outfits you assemble.
Do any of these speak true to you? All of these things add up and wear down on us. That’s why it’s super important that we learn how to be confident, and that we learn confidence boosting strategies so that in time we begin to feel more comfortable with who we are and how we show up. Here are a few tips if you (like me) are in need of a confidence boost:
1. Experiment with your style. In a podcast interview with a fashion guru I listened to a while back, the host asked the interviewee what advice she had for girls who wanted to experiment with and feel more confident with their style. The stylist recommended that girls add something unexpected to their outfit every day, meaning they should add something they wouldn’t normally pair with that outfit, then see how they feel wearing it throughout the day. Switching it up a little with things you already own is a budget-friendly way to experiment with new looks. I love this recommendation because it’s cheap, it’s fun, and it allows you to play around with your normal look. Maybe for you, this is adding a statement necklace to a patterned print top that you usually only wear simple jewelry with, or maybe it’s as simple as adding a scarf or a fun belt to an outfit that you previously left plain. This practice allows you to try new things little by little and find what you feel more or less confident in. I think the act of just wearing something you wouldn’t typically wear also slowly boosts your confidence as in the long run. If an outfit doesn’t turn out as cute as you expected, what’s the big deal? You won’t really care.
2. Explore your potential rather than just daydreaming about it. Maybe you have a story you want to let out on paper. Maybe you have a dream of taking beautiful photographs to share on your blog or on Instagram. Maybe you’ve always wanted to dance. So what’s holding you back? Usually, it’s one thing: fear. And to break out of this fear mindset, you have to take action and try things. So turn your intention into action by exploring your potential to do the thing you’ve always wanted to do. Sign up for a beginning ballet class or a barre class. Post a few photos you have already taken and feel proud of them. Add in cute quotes or captions. It’s all about starting somewhere. You have to try things to be confident, as often, confidence grows along the way. And remember, the expert always starts out as a beginner. Don’t compare your beginning to anyone else’s middle.
3. Tap into your limiting beliefs and debunk them. Be honest with yourself. What are your limiting beliefs? What beliefs do you hold about yourself that are holding you back in living a life you love? When you know them, prove them wrong. If you realize that your limiting belief is that you don’t think you are interesting enough or talkative enough to start a podcast, but you’ve always wanted a podcast, start the podcast! Maybe thinking you don’t have enough time is a huge limiting belief for you. Maybe you don’t think you have the time to take an online class that you really want to take. Take the class. Create the time. For those of you who don’t believe that your ideas are interesting enough to share with others: join a book club. Start sharing your voice because ultimately, it’s needed. And you need to learn this. See, limiting beliefs are only beliefs. They are created in our heads and aren’t factual. They aren’t true limits. Therefore, they can be stretched and pushed, and ultimately broken!
4. Root for others and cheer them on. Rather than constantly comparing yourself to other people, cheer them on. Realize that their successes are not your failures. You are not in a competition, you are all working side by side and with one another. Just because someone is good at something, it doesn’t mean you need to compare yourself to them. You are individual people with individual minds and thoughts, and these thoughts are what make you you. If you can begin to cheer for other people, you will slowly drop some of your limiting beliefs about yourself not being good enough. You will see that when you support others, they will also support you and help you grow. Remember, her strengths are not your weaknesses.
5. Know and use your strengths. Whether it’s at work, in your personal life, or in school, acknowledge your strengths and be intentional about working from your strengths. If you know you are a great communicator and confident talking in front of people, maybe you should be in a field in which you are presenting or training people, or possibly mediating conversations. If you thrive in organization, maybe you should be working in a field such as event planning or social media management. Try to find a job, or a role in your current job, that allows you to thrive from and build on your strengths. You will feel more confident because you will be in a field in which your strengths are shining through and helping you to be more comfortable. Feeling confident in one area of life will help you in other areas where you are less confident or comfortable.
6. Please, please, please…drop the comparisons. You see all of these people out there our age who are “making it.” Those who are living their own magical lives (or at least their lives appear magical on Instagram). You see them thriving in success, starting their own businesses and sharing beautiful photos of their matcha lattes with adaptogens and cordyceps and all sorts of potions mixed in. And of course you wonder, should you be drinking that too? Should you be eating fancy breakfast bowls or drinking smoothies rather than the usual quick bowl of cereal or toast? The answer is: not necessarily. Just because something is working for someone else doesn’t mean it would work for you. And just because someone else is successful in a different field or even in your field, it doesn’t mean you aren’t successful or that you are doing something wrong. Comparisons only make you worry. They only make you nervous that you aren’t enough. So why keep making comparisons? Next time your brain jumps to start comparing you to someone else, immediately give yourself three compliments. Tell yourself three things that you are really doing well, or three things that you are good at.
7. Start a gratitude journal. You’d be surprised at how much this can help in becoming more confident. While writing down three things a day that you are grateful for doesn’t sound like it would relate to your self confidence, it actually does because it allows you to put things into perspective. It allows you to realize that some of the things you are worried about don’t even matter. It allows you to focus on the good in your life, and when you are looking at life from a positive perspective, you are much more likely to accept who you are.
8. Listen to your intuition. Pay attention to what your gut is telling you, especially when you are facing a predicament. Rather than second guessing yourself, or worrying that you aren’t going to do the best thing or say the right thing, really just listen to your intuition. Try not to overthink every decision you make. Overthinking in general, and ignoring your own intuition, is going to lead you down the path to anxiety, low confidence, and uncertainty. When you can get in touch with your intuition and start to follow it, you will feel more confident in the decisions you make.
9. Do something creative. Creativity is a huge outlet for confidence and for feeling good about yourself. Sometimes creativity sparks the quieter confidence, it helps you to feel more at peace in your body and mind. Take the time to create something. Take some beautiful photographs, write a blog post, create a recipe, paint a watercolor painting, sketch some spring flowers, write a poem….do whatever feels right for you. Creativity gets good energy flowing within you. It knocks down your walls and helps you to get more in touch with who you really are deep down.
10. Remember to appreciate where you are in life. If you put so much time and energy into where you want to be in life without acknowledging where you are now, you’re constantly going to be pushing yourself to be better. And unfortunately, when you do this, you might start putting down where you are now, or thinking you have not accomplished enough. It’s always good to grow, to learn, and to have goals, but it’s also extremely important to realize how far you have come. To be confident, to truly have a good relationship with yourself, it’s really important to celebrate the little successes every day. It’s important to find happiness in who you are today, and to understand that you are a full, complete human being exactly as you are.

Mother’s Day is literally right around the corner and since I now consider myself an expert on this job, I thought I would share some gift ideas to get you some extra brownie points. This applies for your mommas and your wives (because fellas you know you HAVE to get your wives Mother’s Day gifts right?! They did carry your children for 9 months each and let’s not even discuss childbirth and sleepless nights) Every mom wants something different so I’m gonna attempt to touch all bases here.
Idea #1.
Personalized jewelry. One of my most favorite necklaces ever is my personalized signature necklaces. The coolest thing about Capsul’s signature necklace is you can have your name, mom or whatever you want it to say in your child’s handwriting. It comes in a 14″ or 16″ inc chain and in rose gold, silver or 14 karat gold. This is such a unique but lovely gift that you can enjoy for years to come. Fellas you will definitely win some brownie points with this one. Use my code “nashstyle” for 20% off your order.
Idea #2.
Statement bags. One thing about moms is we are always on the go so the loveliest gift idea would be a nice bag to at least cute while we do it. I love my designer bags like the next chick but there’s something about dropping a grand or more for a bag that makes me cringe. I just think of all of the things I could have bought with that money. Deux Lux makes such beautiful purses, weekenders and id cases etc. A few of my favorite prints are the Calistoga tote, the Bloom overnight bag, the Antigua train case (perfect for makeup or toiletries) and the Biscayne weekender. These 4 are my top 4 faves for summer and they come in various sizes and cost effective for all of the cute print you get to choose from.

Idea #3.
Chic Diaper Bag. With my first child I carried around a typical diaper bag but with the second, I knew better. It was way too heavy and it hurt my back and shoulders. Also I was consistently dropping it while trying to carry everything. I don’t travel anywhere without my Fawn Design diaper bag. It makes me feel less “mom” like and I love that about it. I wear it as a backpack but you can also wear it as a messenger bag. It is such a chic diaper bag that you can carry well after you “need” to. I am obsessed with the gold hardware on them. Both the inside and outside are very easy to clean. You can wipe with a damp cloth. There are a total of 10 pockets to store all your stuff along with a keychain hook for your keys. I have the grey and the brown.
Idea #4.
Gift Box. I just got a gift box recently from Give Lovely and there are so many options you can play with for mom or just personalize your own. I got the Roses are Pink box which included:
Hearts Notepad
Salted Grapefruit Urban Candle
Champagne Bubbles + Bubbly Bears Sugarfina Candies
Sakura Blossom Perfume Oil
Coco Rose Body Polish
Gift Wrap and Handwritten Card
You can choose your price limit and shop from the comfort of your own bed with a gift that’s still completely personalized.
Idea #5.
Fun Knick knacks. A great idea for mom is to buy her something you know she wouldn’t buy herself. I am so in love with this eyelash mermaid pillow from Ankit in my filming room and think it would make such a fun gift. Who doesn’t like to play with mermaid pillows too? I could seriously do it all day.
Idea #6.
Traditionals. Basically you can’t go wrong with old faithful. Chocolate Covered Strawberries or Flowers. I’m never gonna be unhappy of I receive either one of these gifts. I could eat chocolate strawberries every day of the year. Or have your kids make mom a special note or picture from them. Husbands do something sweet and romantic, I promise it’ll go a lot further than some expensive purse. Well for someone like me it would.
Idea #7.
Me Time. I’m actually not kidding when I say I don’t care if I get one physical present for Mother’s Day. I have told my husband countless times that I would feel the most appreciated by just getting a day off. A day off from hearing the word mom 50 times, cleaning the house, feeding everyone. Give me a bath and a book. Two things I don’t see often nowadays. Let me take a nap or relax. Go sit outside by myself. Me time is so important and let’s face it, moms NEVER get that. We can’t even go to the bathroom without tiny humans following us in. So give mom a glass of champagne, draw her a bubble bath with a luxurious bath bomb and lovely soap and milk baths. Then shut the door and keep the kids out for a minimum of an hour 😉 I love giving my support to local companies so if you live in Nashville or even if you don’t they ship…but Cheap Chicks Soapery has some pretty amazing handmade products.
Idea #8.
Mommy and me jewelry. I love matching my girls but it’s hard to do that sometimes without looking super cheesy. A really cute idea from the kids could be some matching baubles.
Hope you guys got some great ideas from this post. Babe I hope you were reading 😉 And if you are momma wants yard work and her kitchen cabinets painted haha.
What kind of gifts does mom wants for Mother's Day? Well here are some of my favorites. Mother's Day is literally right around the corner and since I now consider myself an expert on this job, I thought I would share some gift ideas to get you some extra brownie points.
