one thing that always confused me about english hoyoverse content creators on youtube is why so many of them use the japanese voices. like for example if they're showcasing team voicelines, they usually show the japanese and english voicelines (in that order) and rarely do i see the chinese and korean voicelines.

why do they default to japanese? it's a chinese game? shouldn't the chinese voicepack be the default? am i the weird one?

I'm having. So many Uchiha Houhua thoughts. Like I know so much of his existence is geared towards survival but. The hc of Uchiha's use of war fans,I have to wonder if he ever finds him half heartedly fiddling with a delicate seeming Tessen, remebering an old friend now far gone, just as razor edged and yet still missed.

And it may be my own fondness for the concept of a spider summons but so much of spider behavior is "Please Leave Me Alone" which is very on brand for Houhua. Camouflage and careful, delicate and yet still so dangerous, setting invisible webs between leaves and waiting for the worse predators to pass. (Also using spider venom to fuck with his heartrate for the possum jutsu maybe?)

japanese people in general seem to be pretty fixated on thinness. in remember when morning mmusume got popular and people talked about kago ai and tsuji nozomi and they refered to tsuji as "the chubby one", even though she was only slightly bigger than kago.

i dont know if you ever keep up with momusu or if you ever cared about it, but once they had this member who was actually overweight (susuki kanon), and she was constantly mocked by fans, the public, and apparently teased by management and team members. obviously she did not pass the audition when she was overweight; she mentioned later that she went through an extreme diet to appear skinny at the audtions, but that she'd been chubby all her life.

but i think koreans are even more extreme with their beauty standards. like, you can see korean idols tend to be skinnier than jpop ones, i think the girls even lose their periods or have very irregular ones. i remember when kpop started gettinf global recognition, sometimes kpoppers would post on certain j-artists youtube videos just to compare them to korean ones, and I remember checking the comments in this perfume video and kpoppers were literally saying they had fat legs. like the girls from perfume (and not, it was not when achan was a lil chubby in their early years)

Ooooh, not long after that incident, I witness a ship war in the Stranger Things fandom through the blogs I follow. I never been so quick to dip out and write that day.

People don't find it strange that gay shippers often get blamed? It doesn't click that it's easy for gay shippers to get blamed? Do you really think that people who draw and write their ships are gonna say something outrageous just so they get people mad at them? As for why I sent the ask... I don't really know... When your David Funko pic appeared in my feed, I was about to scroll past when I saw the abundance of Doors CDs and DVDs in the foreground. mmm honestly if youre curious about the outsiders you just have to see the movie/read the book for yourself ;p i wouldnt say youre missing out if you arent that interested in it though... i wasnt all that interested in it for years and i actually didnt get into the outsiders till about a year/year and half ago? unlike most people i actually didnt get to read the book in class my class had to read "To kill a mocking bird" and my god what a slog that book is. could not recommend a book less. once we finished the book we got to see the movie and me and my friend were going crazy for atticus finch bc the actor who played him was hot.. ANYWAYS how i first got introduced to the outsiders was from the movie. the teacher didnt feel like teaching and put on the movie. (the other english classes got to read and watch the movie in the first place btw very envious) and even then i just didnt really care about it i thought patrick swayze was hot as darry but i didnt really care about the plot. it took like 4 more years for me to actually remember it and think "man i wonder what the actual plot of that movie was because it wasnt just sweaty patrick swayze"

hobbies mmm well when im in the mood (which is rare) i do paint and do art ive posted some of my art on here (fallout art) but majority of the time if i do end up posting art i post it on instagram and thats IF i do it the last time i did art was like november?? i think? i could show some of my paintings if youre interested?

i also love to watch horror movies so i guess i would consider that a hobby. majority of the movies i do watch are horror. i dont really watch television because a lot of tv especially modern tv has like hour long plot heavy episodes and no i cant fucking do that. the only show im actually watching rn (at a slow slow pace rn mind you) is jojos bizarre adventure. in the past the only show i could kind of stand to watch was seinfeld because i could just use it as background noise half the time and the other half i could turn my brain off and enjoy some shitty tv. but some of my favorite shows are the midnight gospel, the twilight zone, and star trek the original series.

as for reading the last "real" book i read was for school and i could not tell you which book that was. currently i mainly read comics or manga (which is just japanese comics not a clue why people act like its so special and different) the last comic i read was i think batman and joker the deadly duo?? its been awhile.... i need to get in the habit of actually reading because most of the time im playing fucking block blast. not even reading fanfiction im just playing block blast. omfg typing out what i do all day is really setting it in how dumb it is i just spend all day playing this stupid block game oh my god. ANYWAYS every one or two days ill end up staying up all night playing fallout new vegas.

strap in this is about to get sappy & personal but. after the #RADWIMPSへ愛を trend on twitter i wanted to share a little about radwimps & what they mean to me.

i've talked about the 1st time i heard radwimps way too much at this point. but here is a pic of the notes in question. (in my haste to get the name down it appears i didn't even write out the full title 😅)

but i think the song of theirs that 1st really moved me -- the one that determined 'ok this is it' -- was weekly shounen jump. i listened to it with a group of friends from my college japanese speaking club, right at the end of our studies, as we were preparing to go our separate ways & venture out into the real world. the unknown future. and idk it was such a profoundly bittersweet feeling like i'd never quite experienced before. every time i hear it now i get choked up & think about those people & the memories we shared & the transience of life. at the time it felt a bit like an ending & a turning point all wrapped up in one.

i had no idea that things were about to drastically change & my college experience would be delayed/extended bc of covid. i was supposed to study abroad in tokyo that year but instead it got canceled & i got sick. like really, really sick. i won't go into too much detail but will say that there were many days i felt completely defeated & hopeless by my body's new limitations. often i wanted to cry, scream, or just give up. but as i was dealing with all of these frustrating changes i was also throwing myself into radwimps' music. spending weeks at a time with a particular album. rotating through their discography & really taking the time to listen. i loved yojiro's voice, all the different genres/styles their music encompassed, & how i could feel some of my own pain echoed back at me. but more than that, how much hope the music gave me. it brought me joy when little else would.

there aren't proper words for how excited i was when they announced the livestream for the 15th anniversary concert & i realized i would get to witness a live performance. i remember being glued to my computer screen at the crack of dawn. both days. completely entranced. only to finish out the year with the 1st shinsekai event. a chance to interact with other fans, especially as an international one? oh it was so, so special.

and so the time passed. literal years. new singles ! new mvs ! new theme songs & movie soundtracks ! new events ! every time a premiere or livestream happened, i woke up early in eager anticipation. i started going for walks to build up my strength & as it grew so too did my love for their music. on days where i didn't think i could do it -- when i was angry or sad or too tired -- i'd push myself anyway thinking 'well if i listen to アルトコロニーの定理 or 人間開花 or forever daze (🥹) etc etc then maybe i can do this.'

and slowly but surely, with lots of time, i got better. not 100% but well enough that when they announced the world tour, including the states, there was no question whether or not i would go. and that experience?? :') one of the most important, unforgettable days of my life. just thinking about it & i want to sob.

i felt well enough, but more importantly, inspired again to start creating art, something i had dearly missed. i put together a zine for forever daze, got into giffing mvs, & had so much fun messing around in photoshop for the 大団円 lyric art project. if not for that project i honestly don't know if i would have had the courage to go back to school & finish up my final semester.

and so like. when fans talk about radwimps' music saving them. being their reason for living. they really, really mean it. radwimps' music has given me hope during some of the darkest periods & consistently makes me want to be a better, more positive, & kind human being. to think i'm just one fan. i imagine all of the connections forged bc of this band & lives they've touched & feel so truly emotional. no matter what happens, no matter what changes, they will forever be embedded so deeply in my heart 💗

I think Yusuke would actually be more enthusiastic about Japanese flower language than Haru, which is saying something. He's captivated by the inner meaning held by such beautiful works of art, crafted both by nature and the nurturing hands of humans, and would easily go on an infodump about the language (and the shape of the petals, the stalks, the colors, both bold and subtle in difference, so... so much.). Meanwhile Haru takes both the language and the technical care of the flowers seriously, and loves sharing tips on how to keep the flowers healthy and vibrant, both before giving to someone and after receiving them. She encourages Goro to try growing something himself since it can feel very rewarding

honestly, I think Haru would appreciate that sentiment in a bittersweet way. Goro has... caused a lot of pain that can never be healed. It's also true that it was very, very easy to draft up plans on killing Kunikazu herself

Goro and the deadbeat dad club is like trickle down therapy and a fucking love it, holy shit. I'm sure he doesn't fully realize how much he's really helping them all

I've seen a surprising amount of fanfics with Trans Goro, and while technically not trans myself, it's nice to read them and think of how Goro had handled transitioning (either explosively not well or surprisingly... pretty fine? Considering that Japan is pretty tolerant of trans people and it's not necessarily as difficult to properly transition from female to male or vice versa as in the US (which isn't much of a high bar but still))

Hello! I found your Kaito/Saimota post. I'm not really part of this fandom anymore because it has become a very hostile space in recent years, but Kaito is very dear to me and I think you have your heart at the right spot, so a friendly word of advice: get your trans and queer friends in and talk about Kaito. Unless you're trans yourself (in which case, feel free to ignore me), we are not to ignore the inclusion of those slurs. Uplift trans voices and advocate that Kaito's personality isn't based on an awful line of writing. Those are the voices that matter and should be heard and if people still continue to hate, their problem obviously lays somewhere else. This is not meant to be offensive. I was part of earlier v3 fandom and I very well know what people tend to think, and it should absolutely be acknowledged that he's neither homo nor transphobic. Hi! Thanks for this. I am not trans, although I do have trans and queer friends, and yeah definitely some who have told me they don't care that Kaito said such slur. However, the problem here is that, one trans person can't speak for the other, and my point with Kaito's slur is not to say the slur isn't offensive, because it is and must be to many trans people. The slur is indeed a slur and people have the right to be uncomfortable by its usage.

When I talk about the slur Kaito said not meaning anything, I'm not saying it doesn't mean anything for the audience, I mean that it doesn't mean anything for his character, because it absolutely doesn't. Kaito says that slur out of nowhere, no character acknowledges it, and Kaito never ever brings up any hint again to feeling different towards Kiyo. He said the slur in ch.2, if how Kiyo acted bothered Kaito that much to the point of saying that slur, then there's no explanation for him to not go all out on shaming and judging Kiyo in chapter 3. Instead Kaito is only mad at him for killing like Kaito is with any blackened.

That slur literally means nothing for Kaito's character, for Kiyo, for no one. It was a stupid gag by the writers. And this is not something that I think it matters getting a trans opinion on, because I'm not saying the slur is okay. It is something that its normalised in Japan, someone has pointed out other characters that used that word in other Japanese media, and idk if it meant anything in that media, but it's so clear how it didn't mean anything for Kaito's character, in writing, because it does not represent him at all in any way, it's really only representative of what is considered a gag in Japan, at least at the time.

I watched a video which talked about an anime that didn't age well. I didn't watch the anime, so I won't say, but I watched similar ones, so I'll talk about that. It's about for example, the male character being dominant and possessive over the female character. At the time, it was so normalised, it was hot, it was the personality of every male character in every romance anime, and everybody loved those male characters bc nobody associated what they did with something toxic or bad. But now? If people watched those animes again, the characters would be cancelled and buried alive like for how toxic and bad they were.

However, that's not even the case with Kaito, which is what makes all of this even more baffling and stupid. Kaito clearly has toxic masculinity traits, and that's part of his character as we see how obsessed he is with not showing weakness and some more common things he says like "men shouldn't apologise so easily". But homophobic??? You literally could not say he's homophobic if he didn't say that slur. Remove that slur from Kaito's speech, and does it change anything about Kaito's character? No, just people's perceptions of him. Which is what I mean. The slur meant absolutely nothing for Kaito as a *character*.

And I repeat, people have the right to find that slur uncomfortable, it was wrong for the writers to add it, but with how it was likely normalised, I believe that's why it's so easy for them to just put that in without it meaning anything. Some trans people may be offended, others may not, but that's really not my point and that's why I am not bringing trans people into the discussion.

I debated whether to respond to these tags at all, but I have two main thoughts here:

I'm not talking about banning people from anywhere, because the ability to ban people from anywhere is not something I or almost anyone else has. There are a lot of ways to do community standards even when you have no ability to ban people or stuff from anywhere. I can't get anyone's stuff kicked off of Tumblr or AO3. But I can still follow my own standards to block people on Tumblr who are being racist, to not rec racist stories, to defend fans of color against racists. I can personally speak out against that content that I see as unacceptable, without ever harassing the person who made it. I can work, purposefully and without hurting anyone, to make the space that I engage with and the things that I amplify unwelcome to people who write things like slavery apologia or pro-slavery stories. And if we work together to do so, we can make larger and larger swaths of fandom unwelcome to people like that. Content moderation would obviously have to be figured out by those with the ability to moderate content, which includes both AO3 and other controlled fan spaces (e.g., zines, fanfic collections). I don't have a clear list of exactly what standards they should set (though efforts like End OTW Racism have suggestions), in part because I'm not a content moderation expert, but the great thing is that we don't need to reinvent the wheel here. Companies and organizations have been talking about content moderation for as long as there has been content to moderate. There are a million frameworks you can look at if you are in the position to do content moderation.

You're absolutely right that racism is not homogenous across the world! Some of these topics are definitely nuanced (being a Nazi, less so), and so there would need to be nuance applied to how we talk or think about them. So let's have that conversation. Absolutely. Please work within whatever fandom spaces you exist in to build a personal and community understanding of where the issues key to your specific fandom are and what you can do to make people like Nazi apologists unwelcome while protecting Black fans and other fans of color.

The point of this post is not to say that I have the perfect solution to the massive and intractable racism and bigotry problem in fandom, because it is a problem that is just a microcosm of the racism and bigotry problem in the world as a whole. It's hard and messy and complicated and will require nuance and cultural comptency.

But it will also require actually standing up and trying to do something, and that something starts with having meaningful discussions about it instead of just conflating any effort with harassment or even with censorship and using that to dismiss it out of hand.

You seem like you have meaningful thoughts about this. That's a great place to start. You just have to keep going.

I think one ongoing challenge to establishing any sort of meaningful community standards in fandom as to acceptable behavior or content is that a lot of people are unable to separate out the idea of standards or moderation from harassment.

There's a refrain you see a lot that amounts to, everyone who thinks that there should be content moderation (or "censorship") either harasses anyone they think is posting unacceptable content or stands with harassers.

And even ignoring the fact that harassment is done by a vocal minority and not anything amounting to a majority (by virtue of the nature of harassment, a very small number of people can make a lot of awful noise), those simply are not the same thing.

Content moderation or community standards aren't harassment, and there are a million ways that they have been done, both on and off the internet, without harassing anyone.

And harassment is done by people at every ideological position. It is not uniquely an action taken by people arguing for content moderation in fandom, and it never has been in the history of the world. Every single ideological stance has some awful people in it, and whatever position you take on anything, the total set of people who agree with you also almost certainly has people who are harassers.

So people get very caught up in conflating the ideology (content moderation or standards in fandom) with an action they perceive as being associated with holding that ideology (harassment) and refuse to meaningfully engage with the ideology because they can just argue that it is an ideology inextricably tied with harassment.

I want there, genuinely, to not be any Nazis or Nazi apologists or slavery apologists or genocide apologists in fandom. And I think that there are ways to get a lot closer to being there that don't involve any harassment at all. But if you read the first sentence in this paragraph and thought "I'm not sure I'm really okay kicking someone out of fandom just because they're a genocide apologist," or "But what if this censorship catches people who aren't really slavery apologists but just people who are horny about the idea of antebellum Southern plantations?" please know that you are part of the problem.

listen, idk what's going on but i wanted to share my opinion here, if that's ok, as a nctzen who joined the fandom during the kick it era, i've been seeing how sm is with their foreigners idols, the mistreatment, etc.

one of my first NCT biases was Yuta, and he still being my 127 bias, so he's my soft spot, my bby and when sm treat him bad i suffer yk. he doesn't deserve it (neither do any of the other neos, foreigners or not)

but about the NCT concept, about the brand and their system whether we like it or not, sm is doing their job, is trying to make it work. "infinite number of members" "subunits all around the world"

. we aren't obligate to support all of the members and future subunits, also we don't know about the future so i think if Yuta is going to join another subunit apart from 127, i'll be there for him, actually i'll be very excited bc i just joined kpop bc when my friend told me what NCT is and how their system works, i was really surprised and interested (then i started to listening to their music and finally became a fan but) these people saying that sm will just use the image and popularity of Yuta to benefit NCT Tokyo, then let me tell you guys, that's how the industry is and other could see that the situation was the same back then, with the current units. (members that debuted first gained certain popularity before the others or where already known by the fans before debuting in other subunit) idk if all of these words makes sense to u, sorry if this confuses you! eng is not my first language so i'm aware that this ask is messy af

Again, in my first answer, I am conflicted with the idea of NCT Tokyo and putting Yuta in the unit. Believe me, I was delighted when they first talked about NCT Tokyo and I was like "Finally! Yuta as a leader!" I think what scared me was the same pattern SM used when they introduced WayV. The idea of putting Yuta in another unit and pulling him out in 127 frightened me, I don't want to experience the same heartache as when Winwin was completely erased from 127. That is what scared me in putting Yuta in Tokyo unit. But since he already said that he's still in 127, I'm cool with whatever happens.

Again, as per I said, maybe IF they put Yuta in the Tokyo unit, I hope there's another 127 member with him close to his age. Maybe Doyoung since he's really good in Japanese. Shotaro is a given member. Maybe they can also put a Dream member, perhaps Jeno? Since his Japanese is really good. Sungchan is also good in Japanese so there's a possibility and Hendery was studying Japanese. I think I want NCT Tokyo to be like the SuperM of Japan. 😅 If there are members that come from other unit, I think I'll be cool with the new unit. I just hope SM would do their job and treat the members fairly.

I understand that we all have different opinions on this but we cannot do anything but wait for the official announcement and member line-up. This will all go down to Ais supporting Yuta and not the company. 🤭

Thats how you started to talk with him, at first it was only sometimes to tease each other

After a few weeks you started to talk everyday and you were going to bed at almost 4 am just to talk to him a little longer

You lived in France, he was in Japan but it was clearly not a problem to him

But weeks passed, then months and you were talking to him every fucking day

And the day you called for the first time ? Your heart melted hearing his voice and his cute japanese accent

« You know I think I want to travel around the world with you y/n » he told you once

The man was sexy, the man was kind, cute and intelligent. Where else would you find a man like that ?

So you decided not to tell him, but you bought a ticket to go to Japan to meet him

Once you arrived you followed the panels to find your way and you went to the Inarizaki High School where he was studying

You waited for him to come out and when you saw him you felt your heart beating even faster

You walked towards him and you tapped gently on his shoulder so that he would turn around which he did and he was so shocked he was just like 😲

« Is it real ? » he said, not believing his eyes

Osamu was with him and he was like who is this ?

Atsumu turned to his brother and he just said « Sam, I introduce you to the Love of my entire Life »

Then he turned to you « fuck, now I can finally do this » and he kissed you with such passion

Basically, one of your friend is a huge fan of volleyball and he was often talking about it to you

One day he asked you to watch a match with him and this match turned out to be Karasuno VS Shiratorizawa

And when you saw him you found him sooo amazing

So you started looking for his social media (you know for research👀)

And one day you found him, you went to dm him

« Shiratorizawa no ace » you said to him to start the conversation (you found nothing better)

Ushijima wa surprised when he saw your message but he still answered « who are you » (so welcoming 😍)

Anyway you started to talk, days were passing and even weeks and you started to have feeling for each other

Ushijima was really overwhelmed by all this because he did not expect he would fall for someone who is not even in Japan

But he could not help it but keep talking to you

« Y/N I want to be with you »

« But we are already together Wakatoshi » you answered to him

« Yes. But I mean I want you to be here, in Japan with me »

He was so serious about it you started to think about it and as the days were passing you decided one day you’ll come see him

After like 8 months far away from each other you finally came to Japan for the first time in your entire Life and you could not wait to have your reason to live in front of you

He told you everything about his life there, his trainings and his team so you knew where he was training

When you arrived to the gym you saw Tendō and you immediately recognize him as that middle blocker so clever you saw during Ushijima’s match you watched with your friend

You went to talk to him

« Excuse me » you said to him, he turned to you « is Wakatoshi here ? »

Tendō was surprised to see a girl calling his teammate by his first name, especially since he never saw you in Miyagi but he went into the gym

« WaaaAaAkaaAtoooSHI Kun, there is a girl outside who wants to talk to you »

« A girl ? » he said frowning but he still went to see

When he saw you, a huge smile appeared on his face (Semi and Tendō were like 😲)

He was so shocked poor baby didn’t know how to react, so you jumped into his arms and kissed him

« Wakatoshi say something ! » you screamed

« I- I’m surprised » he said

« Are you happy ? I came only to see you baby »

« I can’t realize, but wow I want you to stay forever » he said with sparkles in his eyes

ahhh i feel all of this completely! and thank you for replying/enjoying that post i made heheh. sorry for long post coming back at you but i have so much to say.

part of the reason why i got so attached to rise was the fact it felt like the hunter really has history with kamura. i think it even really started with just the way hinoa and minoto are in the opening cutscene, barging into your house in such a familiar way lol. and then when you talk to all the villagers, so many of them just... know you. the hunter is an established character themself, and i think the fact they finally gave them voiced lines in battle also helped. when i started playing, i didn't expect to ever feel any kind of emotional attachment in this game because yeah, previous monhuns have really just been about "go hunt the monster" while talking to npcs that don't have actual names. but rise wound up being so different with the colorful cast. it wasn't until my second playthrough that i really kept up with ayame's growth from beating herself up for being injured, to becoming determined to hunt again. and learning about hamon's fear of palamutes but eventually learning to understand iori's hobby of taking care of them. there's even bits of character development with utsushi LOL... here's one example, but there's another example where after that, eventually when you get to the primordial malzeno fight, he fully trusts that you'll be okay on your own, no longer afraid of you getting hurt.

and coming to the point that, yeah! it IS easy to miss this flavor text! i wish you didn't have to go out of the way for it, but at the same time if they had put this all on the forefront in the story, would a majority of monhun fans like that? i would've loved that, but i think it would have made this game even more divisive, so who knows... i was watching a really good video critique of rise, and while i liked the points they gave, even the ones i didn't agree with, i had to do a double take because OP said something along the lines of like "having a setting where you feel lived in and a part of the thing makes it more immersive" and i was like YEAH- only to hear them follow up with "rise doesn't do this, is dull, and not as immersive" and i got so confused because i was like... did we play the same game??? rise literally did that, at least more than any previous monhun I've played. but i realized that maybe OP was critiquing the fact the colorful dialogue IS missable. which, yeah- i would even point out that maybe for people who didn't pay attention to kagero and yomogi's flavor text, or never got to read the sunbreak story about kagero's letter/their history that they released on Twitter/social media, the title update 5 cutscene could have been confusing to see such an emotional scene out of nowhere without context. It makes me wonder what Rise could have been if it weren't affected by the pandemic.

funny thing- now i'm so sorry for this, but i need to explain the utsushi rabbit hole

i wound up getting attached to utsushi and finding his japanese fan community late 2021, and ive been chatting with them since. I found out that, a lot of ppl also experienced the same thing i did and what you mentioned: they missed a lot of utsushi's flavor text in base rise bc they didn't talk to him much, and therefore didn't even think much of him until after the fact. I think what really got things going was when they released his DLC voice and learned about his... extremely affectionate lines when it comes to mew mew and blowing a kiss LOL. even for me, I only picked up on utsushi's antics once i saw the official art of him (realizing "hey he's got a cute design actually") and eventually encountering utsushi x hunter fanart on pixiv

things went deeper than i expected...

i confirmed that ppl really did notice that it was unusual for an instructor character to refer to his pupil in japanese as "manadeshi (beloved/dearest disciple)" and be so close to the hunter. he was already popular enough that by valentine's day 2022, fans literally sent chocolates to capcom addressed to utsushi. i knew about this for a while, but i was shook that they wound up officially addressing that this really happened during the last update video. after they received his chocolates, they immediately got one of the (i believe female) illustrators on rise to draw that really cute valentine's day art of utsushi. the japanese tweet for that artwork had even a little bit more text than the english one...

that "i'll always be watching over you" line... we started to suspect capcom had been seeing that niche fan community's love for utsushi, and they started to kind of troll us??? LOL

throughout the previews of sunbreak last year, they would start obsessively sneaking utsushi into those chibi artworks. and when npc followers were announced, people were scrambling to find out if he was going to be one of them, but there was some weird radio silence about him

in one of the earlier trailers that showed the elgado hub for the first time, there was a very short part of the clip where ppl could see someone standing in the distance at the corner of the screen. all the utsushi fans went nuts because they were taking a magnifying glass and zooming up at there wondering if it was really him, because everyone wanted him to be there in sunbreak LOL. of course we'd eventually find out that would be his perch for most of the game :)

it was only during the final preview trailer before the release of sunbreak did they finally announce utsushi as a follower, as if they were saving the best for last. and sunbreak dropped, we got to see him in elgado and enjoy hunting with him, and it didn't end there. he wound up being featured in two of the short stories released last summer, and we would not forget this incident.

when i think about people who didn't really follow flavor texts, i wonder if utsushi joining the hunter in the battle against amatsu was strange, because he has such a spotlight on him, even being the one who allows you to ride an apex. if people didn't love him before, certainly people would love him now finally, during the last update video...

we got this line from the director LOL, finding out that utsushi wound up being his personal favorite character in rise

all in all, i think i mean to say that if you really did keep up with the flavor text of rise, the pay off was even better! and it is a shame when this stuff is mostly optional or you have to go out of the way for it. but making a monhun where story and character interactions are more on the forefront... i hope if they do it, then they do it in a way where everyone can enjoy it and not feel like they missed out. i hope that future monhuns keep giving us colorful casts to have fun with

sometimes i regret the way i titled the unhinged thread of screenshots supporting utsushi's undying passion for the hunter, because i know how annoying it is when people are like "MY SHIP IS CANON THIS IS WHY" ... but u know i'm all about peace and love and im just a lil insane over these details and i love all the hunter ships. it's just so god damned funny seeing how utsushi's role in risebreak play out like. u just had to be there
