nodding along with a post and then halfway through it gets weird and confusing and realizing "oh! this was written through a culturally christian lens that i am fundamentally incapable of comprehending due to my background! no wonder i no longer know what the fuck OP is talking about"

I'm always a little hesitant to share this with English speakers, because I've been looked at like 'wow what weird backwards people you come from', but in Bashkir, my native language, the word for God and the word for spirit are very close. Wind, fast breathing and thunder are sometimes called full of spirit or spirited. So there's some crossover for religious people in my culture between the concepts, the idea of wind and breathing and the roll of thunder being manifestations of God, reminders that God is there. This May I had a horrific allergic reaction to a medication I was put on and nearly died, and I remember thinking, when I woke up in the hospital, "God is with me. I can hear God inside me." as I gasped for air. I thought the same thing when I got out of the hospital and wind hit my face. God is right there, if you know how to see Her.
Don't apologize for ur hesitancy. It's completely understandable why you're hesitant.
And just for a heads up, I'm afro latina! So I'm a native English and Spanish speaker! And I do understand the difficulty in sharing ideas from ur culture that get looked down upon by westerners. Very close minded people... So I'm very grateful you feel comfortable enough to share these concepts with me 🥺
But that's beautiful. Wind and storms seem to have a HUGE hold on creation stories. I was watching a video a few days ago about how a lot of the earliest creation stories we have involve either water and earth or earth and wind. So there's definitely something very Important that even our ancestors saw when it came to wind.
An invisible force that can make the world move and shake and make noise. It can topple trees and scar the land. It can encourage the growth of plants and make the soil rich. Doesn't that sound like God in action? Doing what God is supposed to do? Nurture and destroy?
And... That force is something we have in us? We can just exhale and there. That same force exists. In our lungs. The reason we and many other creatures are alive. Even plants breathe. Trees.
God is absolutely in the air, in the wind, in tornadoes and in our breath.
I'm sorry about your allergic reaction, but it is amazing to know you were comforted by God once you were able to breathe. To have such a scary experience and to come out if like, oh yeah there's God. Forcing Her way into my lungs. Goosebumps!!!!!
Thank you for sharing, anon. I love this so much.
