Yo my dudes; the entirety of Archie's Weird Mysteries is on YouTube.
//wtf is Archie's Weird Mysteries you ask?!
So last night I was making fun of CW Riverdale for being awful (as one does), and I was telling my partner how I had originally hoped it would be good because I was a huge Archie fan as a kid. I collected the comics and I learned to draw as a kid by tracing the characters. I watched the cartoons from the 70's. I loved all the spinoffs. Then I said "My favorite Archie show was the late 90's cartoon where they solved Paranormal Mysteries. I loved the evil potato episode. It was so bad it looped around and became genualinely enjoyable again" and my partner went uh what?! There was a 90's cartoon where they solved paranormal mysteries?!
UHUH YEAH THERE WAS; AND ITS SPECTACULAR. Not in a traditional "this is a really good cartoon" way - honestly it's kind of a really bad cartoon. It's like the writers life dream was to write for Scooby-Doo but the only gang they could get the rights to was Archie and the Riverdale bunch so they just made do. It also has really big "I might have been made in someone's basement during a really weird fever dream" vibes - but in a FANTASTIC way.
The evil potato episode 🥔 is actually episode one - Attack of The Killer Spuds - and I fucking love it. It's not good... but It's so NOT good, that it's amazing.
"Is that a fucking tentacle monster?!" You ask - NOPE. POTATO. 🥔 ENJOY!
It has the pulpy monster of the week shtick, the theme song makes me feral, the stories are predictable and comfortable and a perfect slice of 90's spooky Sci-Fi americana. So many of the plot lines are "we're a bit afraid of technology because the world's changing so fast and what if a virtual reality game monster could come out of the game and yell at us for genociding their race for entertainment!?" Like, wonderful 90's Sci-Fi/Campy Horror Mashup starring everyone's favorite ginger himbo. IT HAS AN OLD TIMEY RADIO VOICED GUY ANNOUNCING THE PLOT OF THE COMING EPISODE, WITH TITLE CARDS THAT LOOK LIKE THIS:
This episode is about werewolves and its called FLEAS RELEASE ME. Okay?!?@??@ and every episode ends with Archie writing his weird mysteries newspaper column in a voice over and he ends it by saying "....in a little town, called Riverdale".
The CW WISHES it had what Archie's Weird Mysteries has. It came out in 1999, it only had one season but that one season has 40 episodes. You can watch ALL OF THEM ON YOUTUBE. It's a fantastic intro to Spooky Season, and you should go watch it. 👨🦰👻👽👾💀🤖👹🦇🎃❤ Okay. I'll stop yelling now...

Okay, infodumping ✨more✨
So basically in 1999 Archie comics was adapted into a cartoon series called Archie's weird mysteries, which is basically Scooby Doo but with the characters from the comics. So this series got turned into a movie, which is about... A lot-
So basically there's this caveman who looks like Jughead who's frozen in ice but the ice accidentally melts and it turns out he's actually a very ancient relative of Jughead? And then like- for some reason Betty and Veronica fall in love with him? And Reggie is like the villain, like, not just mean, but straight up evil? Yea I don't know about that but my grandparent's bought it for me, and here's the thing: if you know the characters it kinda works but out of context there's not enough time and too many characters and there's just no was a 5-9 year old me could get anything out of it (I don't remember how old I was when I watched it) so it was pretty forgettable for me UNTIL I accidentally found out that Andrew fucking Rannells voiced Archie?? So I HAD TO watch it and now I'm also binge watching Archie's weird mysteries both because Andrew Rannells <33 but also because it's becoming a guilty pleasure, also I'm desperately hunting for the comics online.
AYO FLAME MY MAN INFODUMP AWAY I LOVE UR RANTS
Oooh that sounds cool 👀
Sjdjfj what?? 😭 Thats A Plot for sure what ajsjajs RANNELLS VOICED ARCHIE?? BRB TF IS GOING ON BRO 😭 It sounds like one of those things that seem unhinged but are interesting even tho u didn’t expect them to be
Andrew Rannells, our beloved <33
New interest ayo let’s go!

It's kinda funny how some people think that Riverdale would be a "revamp" and a complete new show just bcs ba would date, but rvd follow being a weird show as it, bh investigate most apart but still the mystery was important and yes was interesting see new dynamics but I say this more bcs we see more of Toni with other characters, they give attention to kangs, and too jabitha than ba (bcs their dynamic was meh just my biased opinion)
I think maybe it was bcs had been a time that Riverdale really put attention on their characters arcs and give attention to their traumas
seriously! RAS main slogan for the new season was “the more things change, the more they stay the same” 😭😭😭 i don’t know how or why people who say they’re TV critics and such really believed anything would be so different.
for starters, like i’ve always said, riverdale has a formula. it has been renewed six times because of this formula. people who tune in to watch riverdale don’t want to be super surprised, they want to laugh about the cringe lines and lame mystery plotlines, and to watch their favorite ships/characters interacting. it’s like when you watched scooby doo! you always knew it’d end with the most obvious villain and “and i would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids”, and you still watched it cause it was always good.
so, riverdale has a formula, the formula doesn’t allow crazy changes and too much back and forth. i do think it has a new “feel”, though, because:
a) most of the regular characters are having the most screen time they had in a while. it’s not perfect, it’s not great, but they’re involved!
b) they are giving other ships a “chance”, although again, it’s not drastic, but they are. ba had a couple of episodes for them. betty had a fwb situation with two different guys. jughead, who everyone called demisexual until the other day, has not one but three potential love interests and had a one night stand, veronica has a husband, cheryl is with someone else...is it great storytelling? again, no. but it’s unsual!
c) there are so many things that could’ve changed for better but the ships are not the problem, the problem is the sloppy writing for poc and lgbtq characters and ships (help, why did kevin get hate crime after seven years in a stable relationship :(( ). toni got some voice but is yet to get an emotional flesh out; i still don’t know why she loves cheryl so much. we don’t know anything about minerva either that makes me think i’m supposed to cheer for them. i have no idea what fangs needs or wants in his life or why he and kevin love each other. they teased bi reggie only to backtrack? 🥴️ anyway, that’s where they need to get better.
d) bughead and varchie are not the problem of riverdale and even if they were, the answer for that would never be b*rchie because it’s literally the most overplayed straight/white/middle-class dynamic of all time. so if they wanted to actually shift the show using a core four ship, they’d use jeronica/beronica/jarchie.
e) the characters are engaging differently, whether you want it or not. archie feels a lot more mature although still impulsive, for example.
f) anyway, i am enjoying season 5. i think the editing is too fast paced and that a lot of things feel rushed and a lot of foundation work for something i don’t know if is coming, but i think after the season is done, we’ll have a good look at the big picture and see what was their intention. and yes, i agree that some parts of these season have been very character driven especially concerning the core four.

{5 Cartoons That Could Possibly Survive a Live Action TV Remake}
Hello there!
My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. I don’t know about you but I basically grew up on cartoons. And it seems to be a new craze in television history for cartoons to be remade into new adaptations for a new audience. It doesn’t surprise me that cartoons are the main source for this as they are noticeable. Recently, Riverdale and Sabrina: The Teenage Witch have been remade into CW Television Shows. And while I find Riverdale to not be that great of adaptation and murder of character. I have heard more nicer things about Sabrina: The Teenage Witch yet never watched it. Despite this and me thinking this television shows have not survived their live-action adaptations. I will be listing five cartoons that I think could survive a Live-Action Adaptation and I will explain my reasoning and how it may be done and also issues that may be concerning. Let’s invade this topic!
(Scooby Doo)
My favorite cartoon of all time, Scooby Doo. I am nineteen years old and I have yet to grow out of Scooby Doo and probably never will. It is reaching its 50th year anniversary this year and is still a cult classic. We have had four (not including Daphne & Velma) live-action films that have featured Scooby Doo but we are talking about television shows here. I personally think that Scooby Doo could do better as a live-action television show because you can get multiple mysteries, more monsters and the characters will receive more development. You can also have guest star characters such as The Hex Girls. Yet I have my doubts due to how poorly Archie has been transformed with Riverdale. I feel like Scooby Doo will help avoid stereotypes and forced diverse tropes. As the gang is one of the most diverse group of characters ever. It would be extra amazing if they added in the 60’s-70’s fun charm that the cartoon had. And of course, kept it light-hearted and fun yet aiming it for more young adults and less-so teenagers and children. This will open doors. After watching Daphne & Velma, I do have concerns with forced diversity that may murder the characters as Daphne and Velma did not portray either character accurately. In the name of forcing female empowerment yet ignoring the female empowerment that is there. Fred is the brave, kind-hearted, hilarious and slightly clueless jock who is friends with everyone. Daphne is the fashion-motivated, kick-ass and clumsy popular girl whose greatest value is how quick she finds out things. Velma is the intelligent, sarcastic nerd who is an equal to Fred and fits in perfectly. Shaggy is the hippie who is hilarious, a scaredy cat and athletic who has yet to use more than 1% of his power. And Scooby Doo is the animal sidekick who has character development and has an actual snack named after him. It would make a great television show if done properly and written great.
(The Jetsons)
I promise, these are not all Hanna-Barbera shows. Except that all of them could be made into wonderful adaptations. The Jetsons is about a futuristic family who live in 2062 that includes George Jetson, a hard-working father. His wife Jane who shops and takes care of the house. His oldest child and only daughter, Judy whose a teenage girl and slightly rebellious. And his youngest child and only son Elroy whose an intelligent kid. And their dog Astro and robot Rosie. Non-surprisingly, The Jetsons is actually outdated and nothing like the actual future. This adds a lot of fun aspects with mixing vintage and newly futuristic ideas. While introducing new concepts into the already existing plot. The Jetsons unfortunately was limited due to animation budget and short-running time with only two seasons that they weren’t able to expand the universe. I feel as if, a new revival of the show could potentially expand the universe and make the characters a bit more realistic. As they are your average futuristic family who can go through relatable issues while keeping with the theme. They could also embark on making Judy more fashion-forward and gifting us unique character designs for the character. As I know that Judy was my favorite character and definitely someone that I could relate to. And of course, keeping the 60’s charm and having more humor. Less dramatics for TV Remakes please! Embrace the humor. And sci-fi is definitely still selling in pop culture and with the graphics we have nowadays, The Jetsons would look absolutely stunning compared to what would have happened if they had perhaps made one in the past. Again, it all comes down to casting and writing. The real-life aesthetics of The Jetsons would be beautiful cinematography wise. It may seem a bit more impossible due to how high a budget would probably have to be to achieve most of the futuristic aspects like flying cars and in the air scenery. Yet the best thing to take advantage of with The Jetsons is how vintage the futuristic aspects are, they can really use a retro futuristic vibe. The Jetson’s futuristic isn’t on the same level as Star Wars or even typical Sci-fi. The effects do not need to be overly complicated as it is mostly dependant on vibe and charm. They could very much go for an Indie vibe where it could be made with a low budget. Choosing style and substance over realism and overdone effects.
(The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy)
Hear me out, as this is a weird one. I grew up with The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and I lowkey blame it for my dark sense of humor. Mandy was one of those unique characters whose clothes did not match her personality whatsoever. Billy was humorous with how stupid yet straightforward he was. And Grim is… I relate to Grim in my old age. This show was such a creative premise to young me that like I adored it. Of course, I loved all things creepy. But seeing that Billy and Mandy and the other young characters were only 9, it is a realization that it may be physically impossible to have a live-action show where the young actors could react in a way similar to let’s say Mandy and Nergal Jr. However after some consideration, I realized that as this will probably be a revamped version, that they could age up the characters. And we could see how Mandy, Billy and the rest have developed into older ages. This of course brings up a lot of new ideas and concepts, new plotlines, and new character developments. Aging them to be teenagers and even young adults can add a more mature theme while keeping the dark humor. It can be darker yet still keep the fun and theatrical side. As it would no longer be targeted to young children but more so, the audience who grew up with the show. Seeing how our childhood characters have grown up to be near our ages. This could bring up more conflicts, relationships, and dynamics. Especially because a popular ship is Mandy and Billy as they are older, so it would be interesting to see if that would come to screen and if they would be compatible being at least ten years older at most. And of course, the graphics would absolutely fantastic since we have ways to make CGI look realistic and would bring on the creep factor. And perhaps, they could even give Nergal Jr more of a character and more humorous scenes. It could survive a TV Remake in this sense because it would be more so, a sequel and they would be working on newer material and not trying to perfect older material which may come in handy with writing.
(Totally Spies)
If anyone asked me what my three favorite girl-based cartoons were as a child, I would always respond with, “Powerpuff Girls, Bratz, and Totally Spies”. Totally Spies was my ultimate dream television show, they were my Charlie’s Angels before I discovered Charlie’s Angels. Even in my youth, they were relatable. And I don’t care what anyone says, Totally Spies was ahead of its time and very diverse. You had Clover, the fashion-forward girl with a sassy personality and although her flaw was being shallow, she usually always learned her lesson. Sam, the introverted and intelligent one of the group who figures things out quickly yet is too quick to trust others. Alex, the hilarious and tough one who has problems with being invisible. They were feminine and kick-ass and taught me that I shouldn’t be ashamed to be into clothes or hair or makeup as I could still kick ass. I think Totally Spies has the diversity that Hollywood is looking for as they will not have to force anything into the mix, it can be a relatable and humorous show about three girls who are best friends and spies. They can have awesome character designs, great dialog, and mix realistic issues into the fictional issues of being a teenage spy. While also showing girl power and how to handle evil people. While also bringing back former fashion trends, especially the 70’s that Totally Spies is known for. With cool costumes and cool gadgets. This would be a kick-ass show when given the right humor, writing, casting and charm. No one can prove to me otherwise.
(Daria)
I am ending this on a rather tricky note as this television show really depends. With the other ones, they’re classics but changes can be made. Daria was ahead of its time and has relatable humor that even fits now. I remember discovering Daria when I was fifteen and going through a tough time and she really learnt to accept myself and my sense of humor. Now while Daria is being rebooted and I have lots of issues with the reboot before it has even come out like the fact it’s called “Daria & Jodie” when Jane Lane was a bigger character than Jodie yet they just ignore her because diversity. I do think if they were to reboot Daria properly, a live-action television show could be great. It will give a new element to the already great show. Of course, casting Daria would be rather hard as you need someone who can remain likeable yet still have a sarcastic aura. And Jane, the slightly more expressive witty best friend. And of course, Trent, the hot older brother of Jane who should have gotten with Daria! Daria is a great show for all ages, especially teenagers to young adults as it really shows the humor of common high school stereotypes. While keeping the complexity of each stereotype in its sense. A lot of Daria’s quotes still hit a string with me to this day. Especially the one where she is at college open-house and responds to the woman asking what goals she has, “My goal is to not wake up at 40 with the bitter realization that I’ve wasted my life on a job that I hate because I was forced to decide on a career in my teens”. That quote still stays by me as I am nineteen now and it’s like my life motto at the moment. And a live-action Daria could play off the nostalgia and have a lot of older watchers which will make it more money than a reboot that may destroy the characters for the sake of diversity. And forgets the true importance of Jodie. I would rather watch a live-action television show than a reboot cartoon as reboots never go well in cartoons.
Well, that was five cartoons that I feel can survive a live-action remake and how they could. Keep in mind that everything you just read is my opinion and I am not asking Hollywood to look at my post and make all of these into live-action television shows. As the thought of that frightens me. Yet I feel like with the right cast and writers, it can be done. Thank you for reading my post. If you like my post, feel free to follow our Tumblr as I write posts on every Wednesday and Saturday similar to this one. And also feel free to like or reblog the post. I’ll see you on Wednesday! Peace out!

Another Interview!
Readers, I have been lucky enough to get another interview with an Archie Writer. His name is Bill Vallely, who is currently self publishing. His book, Tips to Prevent Dry Eye...That Work! Is coming out this January. It’ll be done in graphic novel form, with some jokes to lighten up the subject matter, and looks super interesting, so be sure to check it out even if you don’t have dry eye!
Anyway, without further ado, here it is!
Susan Michaels: Tell me more [about how the relaunch of Harvey Comics was your idea].
BV: Back in the late 80s, my writing partner, Mark McClellan, had a roommate who was connected to Jeffrey Montgomery. Jeff was looking to start a comic book company. I suggested that Harvey Comics had characters everyone already knew (Casper, Richie Rich, etc) that were stuck in legal limo. Why roll the dice to create something new when properties that were well known were just sitting there, gathering dust? Montgomery’s business model was to focus on marketing Casper t-shirts, mugs, key chains, etc. Later he decided that the real money was in feature films and Direct to Video films. BTW, I'm getting ready to release my first self published graphic novel - "Tips To Fight Dry Eye ... That WORK!"
SM: Wow, I really like the cover for that! Here are some questions I have: (If there are too many or you can't answer, just let me know)What was your favorite/least favorite franchise to write for in the HB Archie? What was your favorite/least favorite character? What was it like writing for Archie, as a whole?SusanISo I learned that one of the characters, Scrappy, who was disliked by the fandom, had a new version of the character in hopes of “reviving” him to the fandom, but in the end was unceremoniously dropped after slowly having more infrequent appearances. Is that true? What's the story behind that?
BV: No question, my favorite character to write for was Mr. Spacely in “The Jetson”. He had an energy and anger that made him a lot of fun to write for. What I loved most was working with the most underrated man in comics, Sid Jacobson. Sid co-created Richie Rich, Little Dot - most of Harvey’s characters. (Casper started as an animated cartoon. That Casper was very different from the one we know now.) I’ve never been very fond of Casper. He always struck me as being kinda mop.
SM: Casper's older then I thought...do you know anything about the aforementioned Scooby question?
BV: Well, Scrappy did wind up being the bad guy in the Scooby Doo feature film.He was an attempt to bring life to an old franchise that had mixed results. There are those who loved Scrappy - and then there people like me.
SM: Gotcha. I was talking about his Archie incarnation-I heard that the "animosity was too great" and things went south from there?
BV: This was a very weird period for me. I had been hired to be Humor Editor for a comic book version of Penthouse Magazine - it was called "Penthouse Comix". I was editing Adult Comics during the day and writing Yogi Bear at night. I was largely out of the loop then.
SM: Oh, got it. That must have been quite intense. While we're still on the subject of Scooby though, do you remember a villain you created called "The Gray One"?
BV: That was mine.Yup.I wrote that story mostly to create a secret agent called "R.U." I did that strictly so I could write the line, "Scooby Doo, where's R.U.?"
SM: I noticed in the story the Gray One's perception of the gang was a little...skewed, and since sometimes other writers of the comic had the gang acting rather differently, I was wondering if that was commentary on that.
BV: I wanted to play with the formate a bit.Try pushing the characters in directions they hadn't gone before.Telling a story from the criminals point of view, then finding out that he was fooled all along, struck me as being fun.
SM: It was.
BV: What I wanted to do was show that all the villains the Mystery Machine fought in the past had ganged up to take down our heroes, but sadly that was not to be.Aw, you only said that because it's true.
SM: Yep! So past villains ganging up on the Scooby gang? What happened to that idea? I mean it doesn't seem to have seen the light of day, but what happened there?
BV: The thinking at the time is that kid comics couldn't handle extended story-lines. Each comic had to be a complete story, never refereed to again. What can I say? They had a point.A six year old buying a comic is a very different animal than a 45 year old comic book collector.I was happy that Sid allowed me to get away with as much as he did.
SM: It's odd, because some of the stories (I don't think they were yours) took a very adult direction...did having the infamous comics code in place ever make anything else difficult?
BV: The Comics Code had largely died in the 90s. Marvel had stopped submitting to the CC.Besides, if anything, I was more of a censor than anyone else.I always remembered that I was talking to 6 year olds, and tried to keep the comics appropriate for that group. After all, they were sold on racks that said "Wholesome Family Entertainment."The average comic sold 30,000 books. With a 3 to 1 pass along (that's other kids who read their friends comics) that's close to 100,000 young minds reading the book. Before turning in a script, I would imagine a football stadium filled with children. Is there anything in my story that I wouldn't say to those kids on a PA system.I have no problem with adult comics. Hell, I helped made them. But they have to be clearly labeled. I've never been a fan of sneaking things past the editor.
SM: This is kind of a silly question, but did you see anyone who worked at HB studios? (I know they probably just licensed it, but I was wondering just in case) Also, for that "Dry Eye Tips Book" did you do that illustration? I really like it! So you mentioned that you wanted to push characters in new directions, how was that? (I did notice a more sensible Scrappy and a less bland Fred, but I want to hear what you had to say-and I’d like to apologize that these are Scooby-centric-old comics are difficult to come by and Scooby were the ones I happened upon more of) Did any other comic series push characters in new directions? Which Scooby villains did you want to bring back?
BV: Back in the day, I mostly wrote in my living room in Los Angeles. I rarely showed up to the office.Yes, I drew all the illustrations in "Tips To Fight Dry Eye ... That WORK!" And if you could mention that the book is coming out on January 1, 2019. The next Graphic Novel I want to do is on President Warren G. Harding. I know it sounds dull, but Warren was the original G. O. Party Animal. The book would be sex and hootch and Red Hot Jazz. You're having trouble finding these books? Not half as much trouble as I am.About pushing the characters in new directions, I wanted to do it in a way that stayed true to the characters. One story that I wanted to do, but was shot down, was to have Judy Jetson fall in love with some romantic mope from another dimension who said that one second would her would be worth the end of all worlds. She runs away to smuggle herself to his dimension, while being chased by the cops. She discovers that the cute guy lives in an anti-matter dimension. If they touched, both dimensions would be destroyed. Judy thought the guy was spouting the nonsense boys tell girls - she didn't know he was serious.I was told that was a little too dark.I did a Magilla Gorilla / Yogi Bear story, strictly to show the differences between the two characters. (Yogi is a selfish, charming, lout while MG means well but causes trouble anyway.)I wanted to watch the entire run of the first incantation of SDWAY, and have them all in a room, plotting revenge. Cooler heads prevailed. All the villains, that is.
SM: I’d be happy to mention your book! (I don’t have dry eye, but I do love that cover XD) I don’t have many more questions. So you wanted to go strictly off of SDWAY series, then, but as a result of the higher ups the comic series wasn't continuous with any of the cartoons? Also, if they didn't want you to watch the shows, how did they have writers familiarize themselves with the material? Or were you given creative freedom there? Also, what would’ve happened at the end of that Jetsons idea you had?
BV: I wasn’t confrontational with anyone - I didn’t have to be. H/B was lucky to be edited by the most under-rated editor in Comic Book history; Sid Jacobson. Back in the 1950s, Sid improved the art at Harvey Comics, and the rest of the industry followed suit. Sid was always willing to listen to any idea, then improve on it. It was a happy time - I’d work with Sid again in a heartbeat.OCT 20TH,
SM: Sorry for implying that there was anything confrontational going on behind the scenes. That wasn’t my intention when I asked. So what I was intending to ask when I was curious about the execs and continuity was if, timeline-wise, that meant it was unconnected from the cartoons? (If it is, no worries-I’m mostly just curious-if a bit pleased that either way, it seems that the infamous Scrappy-Doo Era and said character’s cartoon personality were not a thing here) This one is about your book-so is it all going to be in the form of comic, a semi-story with the dry eye symbolized by the little devil? So I asked what your favorite/least favorite character was. What was your favorite story that you wrote? What happened to Richie Rich that put it in legal limbo? (All I know was it used to be Harvey comics, then it became a cartoon for a few years) Thank you for your time and patience :)
BV: Jeff Montgomery and company viewed the characters as products to obtain movie contracts and sell T-Shirts. He viewed the comic book production division as a necessary evil - until he decided we weren't necessary any more. What he didn't understand was that, while the comics didn't make as much as a single Richie Rich Direct to Video Movie, they were the engine that kept the characters alive. Without the funny books, people forgot about Richie and company.
SM: Yikes.
BV: On the day we were fired, I walked into Jeff's office (while he was in the middle of a meeting with someone from Paramount) and stole his equipment. Staplers, pens. That kind of stuff.
SM: Then what happened?
BV: He pretended I wasn't there and nothing was happening. I loudly stated "I'm stealing this ... and this ... this is mine now". I kept that stuff, too.1
SM: Wow, that's-wow! XD
BV: It's the reason I'm self publishing these days. I guess I could get work if I begged. But the best I could hope for would be to insulted, paid a $40 page rate, and maybe make the company rich.Self publishing is no more risky, I have a lot more freedom, and the potential rewards are high.
SM: I did not know that! That's a really funny story, by the way. Also, do you have any answers to the other questions I wrote about above?
BV: Shoot them past me again.
SM: So what I was intending to ask when I was curious about the execs and continuity was if, timeline-wise, that meant it was unconnected from the cartoons? (If it is, no worries-I’m mostly just curious-if a bit pleased that either way, it seems that the infamous Scrappy-Doo Era and said character’s cartoon personality were not a thing here) This one is about your book-so is it all going to be in the form of comic, a semi-story with the dry eye symbolized by the little devil? So I asked what your favorite/least favorite character was. What was your favorite story that you wrote?
BV: 1. No, they had no relation to the cartoons at all. 2. My book is a graphic novel - told entirely in comic book form. I'm doing that because Dry Eye is an unpleasant subject to discuss. The comic book format will make the story clearer and more fun to read. I have a fondness for "Escape From Nyak, Nyak, Nyak." I had to move to New York to work for a company I wanted nothing to do with. That story was my goodbye to California and Harvey.

Hey but sorry to bother u but could give me those book recs? Relying on u girl
of course!! sorry bout the long wait, dear x
you said you preferred trilogies or series’ (which i don’t read much of tbh) so here are a few of my favorites: (( some of these will have full on summaries and some… not so much, i got lazy lol ))
The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout : Meet Katy and Daemon! Katy is a funny, down-to-earth book blogger who has just moved to West Virginia. And Daemon? Well, he’s her hot and arrogant next-door neighbor. He’s also an alien. This one is cheesy, yeah, but it’s so FUN! Follow along as Katy and Daemon try to figure out what they mean to each other while trying not to get killed by the Arum; the Lumen’s enemy. In this world, the DOD is well aware that aliens exist and that they live on Earth. However, they are unaware that the aliens known as Luxen actually possess powers that make them.. well… powerful beyond means. This isn’t just a romance story; it focuses on family and friendships and it has a bunch of kick ass action and the entire plot with the DOD is so interesting.
The Pine Deep Series by Jonathan Maberry ; I’m only on the first book but this one is a bit more mature in terms of horror and things like that. If you like scary books or feel like being spooky in time for Halloween, you should definitely check this one out!
The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare : I’m sure you know about this one, but if you don’t! Angels, demons, warlocks, vampires, faeries, werewolves? What more could you want? When Clary Fray discovers she’s actually a Shadowhunter; an appointed warrior of the Angel Raziel and has angel blood coursing through her veins, her life is about to change forever. Join her and the rest of the Shadowhunter gang (and even a few others) as they team up to rescue her mom and stop an all out war from happening.
The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken ; I’m only on the first book but I absolutely love it! It’s an intense read that has me on the edge of my seat constantly. I adore Ruby and she’s easily become one of my favorite female characters of all time.
Dorothy Must Die Series by Danielle Paige ; Okay. I know, I know. Really? Dorothy Must Die? Hear me out! This book is FUN. Trashy? Perhaps, but fun! The first book is really fast paced and honestly? I am living for a world where Dorothy is evil. So basically our main character is named Amy and she is the other girl from Kansas. She’s sent to Oz to save it from Dorothy Gale who has become power hungry and is now pure evil along with the Tin-Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow. The rest of the series doesn’t really live up to the first book, but I would say you should read the first one anyway. It’s a lot of fun.
Did I Mention I Love You Series by Estelle Maskame: Sixteen-year-old Eden Munro decides to spend the summer with her father in Santa Monica as her parents are divorced now. Once there, she meets her father’s new family and that includes Tyler Bruce; her new asshole step brother with a short temper and a huge ego but as she gets to learn more about him, she finds herself falling for him. This trope isn’t for everyone and I know the whole step sibling thing is super taboo but this series is awesome and I read it during a huge reading slump and it really helped me get though it.
Perfect Chemistry Series by Simone Elkeles: When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for―her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. (Each book in this series focuses on a different Fuentes brother.)
Fighting to Be Free Series by Kirsty Moseley: Jamie Cole has just been released from juvenile detention. Determined to go straight, he tries to cut ties with crime boss Brett Reyes - but Brett has no intention of letting him go. Jamie’s life is already more complicated than it needs to be, yet it’s when he meets a beautiful stranger at a bar that Jamie knows he’s really in over his head. Ellie Pearce has just come out of a terrible relationship and isn’t looking for anything serious; until she meets Jamie. Their attraction is overwhelming and intense - she can’t seem to shake her growing feelings for him, even though she’s trying to keep it casual. But when fate goes horribly wrong and Jamie’s family is faced with ruin, he’s forced to strike a deal with Brett. Despite his struggles, he wants nothing more than a future with Ellie. That’s until Ellie finds out that he’s been hiding more from her than she could ever imagine.
Mind if I drop in a few stand alone’s? I’m trying to read more series’ but I’ve always been more of a stand alone kind of girl, so here are some of my current favs:
#MurderTrending by Gretchen McNeil : WELCOME TO THE NEAR FUTURE, where good and honest citizens can enjoy watching the executions of society’s most infamous convicted felons, streaming live on The Postman app from the suburbanized prison island Alcatraz 2.0. When seventeen-year-old Dee Guerrera wakes up in a haze, lying on the ground of a dimly lit warehouse, she realizes she’s about to be the next victim of the app. Knowing hardened criminals are getting a taste of their own medicine in this place is one thing, but Dee refuses to roll over and die for a heinous crime she didn’t commit. Can Dee and her newly formed posse, the Death Row Breakfast Club, prove she’s innocent before she ends up wrongfully murdered for the world to see? Or will The Postman’s cast of executioners kill them off one by one?
One Small Thing by Erin Watt : Meet Beth and Chase. Beth is entering her senior year and is still trying to move on from the death of her older sister three years ago. In a small town with parents who have suddenly become her wardens; that seems nearly impossible. And then she meets the mysterious and hot Chase who immediately draws her in. Their attraction is instant and he’s the first person who makes her feel like Beth Jones and not Lizzie; the young girl who lost a sister and is somehow broken by it. But as she falls harder for Chase, she’s hit with the reality of the part he played in her sister’s death. It’s about forgiveness, love, and moving on. It’s sad and sweet and such a fun, quick read. Definitely good for trying to get out of a slump!
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren : Fangirl meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this funny and poignant coming-of-age novel from New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren about two boys who fall in love in a writing class—one from a progressive family and the other from a conservative religious community. If you read one book off of this list, PLEASE let it be this one. This book is so… amazing. It’s been months and I still think about it constantly.
Fault Line by C. Desir : Trigger WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS A RAPE. It is not shown, but it’s the main conflict in the book. Over the years I have struggled with if I liked this book because it was good or if I liked it because of how much it fucked me up. I read this book in one sitting and when I finished, I sat in my bed for a good hour and just…. didn’t move or do anything. You will NOT be rooting for the main couple. The narrator is unlikable and you will HATE all the characters in this book. The ending is NOT happy and I don’t know why I’m recommending this but GOD. This book, after so many years, just stuck with me because of how fucked up it was. It deals with the whole “recovery” process in such a dark way that we normally don’t see in YA fiction and I think that’s what makes it stand out so much. If you want something darker, read this. But read it with caution. If this isn’t something you like then please, don’t bother reading it. It’s not happy and it’s sure as shit not fluffy. Summary : Ben could date anyone he wants, but he only has eyes for the new girl—sarcastic free-spirit Ani. Luckily for Ben, Ani wants him too. She’s everything Ben could ever imagine. Everything he could ever want. But that all changes after the party. The one Ben misses. The one Ani goes to alone. Now Ani isn’t the girl she used to be, and Ben can’t sort out the truth from the lies. What really happened, and who is to blame? Ben wants to help her, but she refuses to be helped. The more she pushes Ben away, the more he wonders if there’s anything he can do to save the girl he loves.
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero : If you like Scooby-Doo or Archie’s Weird Mysteries this book is probably for you. 1990. The teen detectives once known as the Blyton Summer Detective Club are all grown up and haven’t seen each other since their fateful, final case in 1977. Andy, the tomboy, is twenty-five and on the run, wanted in at least two states. Kerri, one-time kid genius and budding biologist, is bartending in New York, working on a serious drinking problem. At least she’s got Tim, an excitable Weimaraner descended from the original canine member of the team. Nate, the horror nerd, has spent the last thirteen years in and out of mental health institutions, and currently resides in an asylum in Arhkam, Massachusetts. The only friend he still sees is Peter, the handsome jock turned movie star. The problem is, Peter’s been dead for years. The time has come to uncover the source of their nightmares and return to where it all began in 1977. This time, it better not be a man in a mask. The real monsters are waiting.
Fatal Throne by Candace Fleming ; A book about Henry VIII and his six wives. If you like historical fiction then this book might be for you! It’s told through the perspective of his six wives (and even Henry himself) and it’s a really fascinating read.
Okay, I think I’m going to stop here. Let me know if none of these speak to you and I’ll give you some more recs! I didn’t know what kind of genres you liked, so I tried to throw in a little bit of everything.

The Archie Show = awesome 60s show makes me think of like old scooby doo and speed racer. The voice acting is HYSTERICAL and the show overall is just ridiculously silly. This song is where the song Sugar Sugar originated, from a segment called Archie’s Dance of The Week which is one of the best features of the show. Really good show to watch if you love old silly stuff and GREAT to watch with friends. No knowledge of the archie comics is necessary to enjoy this show tbh
The New Archies = 80s cartoon that was largely outsourced animation wise and as a result has moments where it genuinely looks like an anime. Its lovely. This show sounds a lot worse than it is, but its the archie gang in middle school. Dont let that deter you because its absolutely stellar. This show introduced two really fun characters, Eugene and Amani, with Eugene taking on a role similar to Dilton in the comics except personally I like Eugene better because even though hes a nerd thats not his entire personality lol. Very sweet show, very cute, and also very funny. Highly recommend for fans of the comics, and I think people who arent fans would enjoy it too. But if you get into archie via this series youre gonna be seriously upset when you realize Eugene and Amani were dropped as characters after this series </3
Archie’s Weird Mysteries = 1999-2000 cartoon thats like…. An Archie Comics ripoff of X-Factor. It’s hillarious. This show is really funny, extremely silly, and has some really great itterations of the characters (AWM reggie is one of my favorite depictions of reggie mantle honestly) the plots are crazy scifi weirdness, and they dont even ease you in on that because the very first episode is about evil potato monsters from space. This show has made me cry also. Definetly another one i think fans and nonfans would both enjoy, especially people who are into endearingly corny shows. Also, for people who Know about Archie’s Weird Fantasy, yes this show predates that play. Yes RAS made an archies weird mystery reference with his play.
And also as a bonus its not a cartoon or a series but Archie TV Movie
To Riverdale And Back Again- 1990 live action made for TV movie with the premisce of “what would happen at a high school reunion for the archie characters?” Meet archie “cheats his wife” andrews the lawyer, jughead “explicitly mentally ill” jones the THERAPIST, veronica “12 ex-finaces” lodge, betty “has the worst husband ever” cooper, and dont forget reggie “landlord” mantle! I think this movie has a suprising number of gay moments and i genuinely think the ending can be interperted as archie chosing jughead over betty and veronica. Honestly reggie in this movie is absolutely fucking amazing and kills it. Corny and has a couple of jokes that are questionable but if you can look beyond that its a very fun, funny movie and while its also a big depature from the comics storywise the characters are very faithful to the comics characterwise. also some of the original characters they introduce in this movie are really good- like i was saying about the new archies how im mad Eugene and Amani dont ever come back im mad Jordan Jones never appeared in anything again. Pam and Rob i dont mind not appearaing ever again but Jordan Jones has such a special place in my heart because mischeivous prankster kids are one of my favorite genres of chsrscters.
I dont even regularly watch riverdale i like to keep up with whars going on in it though because reggie LOL. Do yourself a favor and watch the archie cartoons though honestly this is to everyone because all the adchie cartoons rock

My Very First Blog by Emily (week 2)
This is my very first blog! My name is Emily. I go to a small, private school. This year, I am in a class called Creative Writing and Speech. This class requirses the students to post a blog every Monday, before class. I have wanted to post my stories and ideas for a while now. I have wanted to post my fan-fiction stories for a while now as well. I finally have a way to do that. I consider myself to be a huge nerd. I like cartoons such as: Code Lyoko, Teen Titans (not Teen Titans Go), Archie’s Weird Mysteries, Spongebob, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, Xia Lin Showdown, Steven Universe, Sonic X, Scooby Doo, Kids Next Door, and many more. I really like Archie Comics as well. I recently got into writing fan-fiction stories because I watched the show Riverdale. The show inspired me to write because it is not cannon at all. I figured I could write something jut as good as that show. So, later on in the year, you will see many of my posts about my nerdy things. I migh even write some stories of my own character, Emma. Well, that will be it for now. Ciao!

thisoneistakentooisntit replied to your post: is riverdale a supernatural show? i thought it was...
There was a show in the late 90’s called Archie’s weird mysteries. It was sci-fi and spooky stuff, kinda like scooby doo. Maybe that’s what you remember?
i never watched it, but i probably read it in the wiki
