my no-spoilers review of the 3rd sonic movie is that i think a lot of people wanted a more faithful sa2 adaption which is fair but i don't think it was possible given the first two films and how the current characters have been set up. personally I'll always prefer sa2 if i have to compare them directly but, as a sequel to sonic 1 and sonic 2, sonic 3 works fine imo

#jim carrey either missed badly or hit the mark really well for me this time around #there were a lot of scenes i couldnt stand but a lot that made me laugh #nothing really inbetween though which is a shame #hes never been characterized the same as game eggman so i cant really bring myself to compare his story with eggman's in sa2 yk #its more based off the jokes which again were either Really Bad or Pretty Good #gerald kinda sucked within the story but was funny at times #the audience for the movie is also more strictly younger kids compared to sa2 which i feel has a wider range of ages it caters to #which is probably why some of the longer scenes with the robotniks are present #i dont think it was a bad film at all i rather enjoyed it personally #and i think comparing it super closely to sa2 will just drive people insane #if you want sa2 then play sa2 #sonic 3 is like an au version its not going to be the same for a variety of sonic movie lore reasons and a variety of meta reasons #IDK #making this post bc i see a lot of people really happy with the film and a lot of people who are super pissed #and i fall towards the more positive middle ground
