Snuggles and Sacrifices - Fred Weasley
Title: Snuggles and Sacrifices Pairing: Fred x fem!reader Summary: Reader isn’t going to let anything get in the way of her dreams, as silly as they may be A/N: for the anon who wanted a fic where Fred and the reader go to adopt a cat and the reader has an allergy attack! It’s a little short but very sweet! Feedback is always welcome, and requests are open!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hi love,” Fred greets softly as he leans against the doorway to his and Y/N’s bedroom.
Y/N looks up from the book in her lap, giving her boyfriend a warm smile. Her smile falters a little as she takes in his appearance. His tie has been loosened and the first few buttons of his shirt are undone. There are bags under his eyes and his hair is messy, something he tends to do when he’s frustrated. He and George have been working extra-long hours at the store in the lead up to start of term at Hogwarts. He’s often gone in the morning before Y/N wakes up and he doesn’t arrive back home until she’s already eaten dinner.
“Come here, love,” she beckons, waving her wand so the books that had been sprawled out on their bed put themselves in a stack on their dresser. Fred immediately plops down on the bed, lying on his back with his head in Y/N’s lap so he can look at her. She places a light kiss to his lips and starts to run her hand through his hair.
“Mmm, feels good,” Fred sighs. His eyes close as he feels all the stress melt away from his body. The shop is no doubt one of the best things that happened to him, but he must admit that it’s hard work a lot of the time and a major cause of his stress. But returning home to Y/N always makes him feel better, and she is no doubt the best thing that ever happened to him.
Y/N scratches at Fred’s scalp lightly as her fingers run through his long hair. Molly has been begging him to get a haircut for weeks and Fred keeps saying he will once things with the shop slow down, but Y/N knows that he secretly keeps it long because she prefers it that way. “Long day?” she asks when Fred sighs.
Fred nods, opening his eyes so he can look at Y/N. “The longest. I wanted to leave after closing but there was a never-ending list of things to do. Every time I tried to sneak out it there was something else that we needed to do. I think the universe is trying to keep us apart my dear.”
Y/N laughs at Fred’s dramatics, leaning forward to kiss him again. “I don’t think it’s that serious, Freddie. You’re busy, I get it. I’ve got plenty to keep me busy while you’re gone,” she says, gesturing towards the large pile of books on their dresser.
After the war Y/N had decided to become a Healer, partially due to all the time she spent at St. Mungo’s with Fred after his brush with death. It destroyed her that there was nothing she could do to help him recover and as she watched the Healers work on Fred and the other patients it inspired her to do the same thing. She enrolled in the training program once Fred was back on his feet and now 2 years later all that stands in her way of becoming a full Healer is her final certification exam. It’s scheduled for the last week of October and Y/N has spent every waking minute preparing.
“I know,” Fred says with another sigh. “But I still feel bad. You’re here alone all day. You wake up alone, you eat alone. We moved in together so we could spend more time together, but it feels like I see you less than I did before.”
“You know it does get kind of lonely around here,” Y/N muses with a grin. “But I think I know something that we could do to make it less lonely,” she trails off, looking down at Fred expectantly.
Fred rolls his eyes and sits up, situating himself so he can look at Y/N. “No, Y/N we talked about this,” Fred scolds lightly. “We’re both way too busy right now to even entertain the idea.”
Y/N pouts at Fred and pushes his face away when he tries to kiss it away. “Come on, Freddie, please? It’s actually the perfect time! I’m still going to be home for the next few months, and by that time the shop won’t be as busy. It’s perfect.”
“I just don’t think it’s the right time for us to get a cat, love,” Fred says softly.
Y/N sticks out her bottom lip as she gets on her knees, her hands coming together in front of her like she’s praying. “Please, Freddie,” she begs while using her sweetest voice. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted in life.”
And she isn’t lying. Ever since she was a little girl all Y/N ever wanted was a cat. She’s not particularly sure why, but every year for her birthday she would ask for the same thing, a little black kitten. She would constantly beg her parents for one, but they always said no. And as much as she hated to admit it, they had a pretty good reason. Both Y/N and her mother are fairly allergic to cats.
Despite the sneeze fit she gets every time she’s around a cat, Y/N never let that stop her from yearning for one. It made going to Hogwarts quite difficult, especially after Hermione adopted Crookshanks. Cat hair was all over the common room and Hermione’s cat was always slinking about. Y/N could have told everyone about her allergies and Hermione could have kept Crookshanks in her dorm, but Y/N loved the fact that the orange kneazle was always around and cuddling up to anyone who would allow it. No matter how badly he irritated her nose she kept seeking him out, hiding her sneezes from all of her friends. She had gotten quite good at it too.
Y/N first brought up the idea of getting a cat when she and Fred moved in together 5 months ago. Y/N had been living in an apartment with a few of her friends from school and Fred was living with George and Angelina above the joke shop. Both places were far too crowded for them to get any alone time, so they decided to just go for it and get a place together. Y/N had figured it would be the perfect time to get a cat but Fred and vetoed it, saying that they were both too busy to be able to take care of a pet.
Fred sighs, unable to resist Y/N’s please. “I’ll think about it. Alright?”
Y/N squeals and wraps her arms around Fred’s neck, hugging him tightly. “You’re the best!” She pulls away to press kisses all over Fred’s face, a plan already forming in her head.
-
Sunday’s are usually reserved for family days at The Burrow. Everyone spends the day hanging out and decompressing from the work week and Molly prepares an amazing dinner. Y/N looks forward to it every week, but this week she convinced Fred that they should skip out so they could spend the day alone together instead. Fred had agreed immediately, and Y/N could put her plan into action.
“It’s so nice, isn’t it? Just spending the day alone together,” Y/N says. Her and Fred are walking around muggle London, their hands intertwined and softly swinging back and forth between them. They’ve just left Y/N’s favorite muggle café after having lunch, and she suggested that they take a walk before heading back to their flat.
“It is, love. I’ve missed this. Just us, being us,” Fred muses, bringing their hands up so he can press a kiss to the back of Y/N’s hand. “Although I can assure you I don’t miss my weekly lecture about my hair.” They both laugh as Fred shakes his head, tousling his long locks.
They walk in silence for a few moments, just enjoying being with the other. Y/N almost feels bad that she’s using this opportunity to trick Fred, but as they approach their final destination, those feelings start to get replaced with excitement. They’re standing at a corner, waiting for their turn to cross when Y/N turns to look at Fred.
“I feel like you haven’t kissed me enough today,” she says, her lips turning into a pout.
Fred laughs and immediately leans down to kiss her softy. “I’m sorry, love. Let me fix that.” He kisses her again, lingering for a moment.
When he pulls away Y/N smiles at him and decides it’s time to enact her plan. She lets her gaze move from Fred’s face to something just behind him. “Oh, look!” she says excitedly, directing his attention to the storefront behind him.
“Oh no. No, no, no, no, no,” Fred says when he turns around to see what Y/N is pointing to.
They’re standing just in front of a muggle animal shelter. Fred looks down at Y/N’s excited face, frowning. “I said I think about it, Y/N. And I’m still thinking.”
Y/N gives Fred her best innocent look. “I know, I know. But there’s no harm in just looking, right?” She grins up at Fred as she starts to drag him towards the entrance.
-
They’ve only been in the kitten enclosure for a minute when Y/N can start to feel the familiar tingle she gets behind her nose whenever she’s around a cat. But she knows that seeing a kitten will break Fred down and she can’t give up now that her dream is about to be realized. She scrunches up her nose to get rid of the feeling and makes a beeline towards the only black kitten in the room.
“Aw Freddie. Come look at how cute this one is,” Y/N coos as she gently scoops the kitten up. It’s just a bit bigger than the size of her palm and is blinking up at her with large yellow eyes. She resists the urge to nuzzle into its’ soft fur, knowing that it will put her over the edge.
“Yeah, it’s pretty cute,” he mumbles as he comes up behind Y/N, trying to seem disinterested. He reaches a finger out and slowly strokes the kittens head. Any faux toughness he had dissolves as the kitten starts to purr. “I thought we were just supposed to be looking,” he teases lightly.
Y/N smiles up at Fred. She can see the happiness in his eyes and knows that they’re going to be leaving there with a kitten. “We are looking. We’re just looking with our hands,” she responds playfully. Y/N is suddenly overwhelmed with the urge to sneeze and she holds the kitten out to Fred, needing to get away from it as quick as possible. “Here love, hold him.”
Fred takes the kitten from Y/N, eyeing her warily. “Are you alright, love?”
Y/N’s face has screwed up and she is desperately trying to blink away the sneeze she feels building. She tries to nod, thinking of some excuse for her weird behavior when she can no longer hold it in. “Achoo!” Y/N sneezes loudly, scaring the tiny kitten in Fred’s hands.
She hopes to play it off as some dust in her nose, but once she’s started she can’t stop. She sneezes a few times in succession, her eyes starting to water from the force. Unable to contain it anymore, Y/N tiptoes around the kittens that are crawling along the floor, heading towards the exit.
Fred meets her outside of the kitten enclosure a few moments later and she waves away his look of concern. “I’m fine, I’m fine.”
What the hell was that in there?” he asks, coming up and wrapping his arms around Y/N’s waist. “Thought you were gonna sneeze your brain out or something,” he chuckles.
“No that was just an. Um. Allergy attack,” she admits sheepishly, burying her face in his chest.
Fred starts to rub her back. “An allergy attack?” he asks, his confusion evident in his voice. “You’re allergic to cats?”
Y/N nods sadly, pulling her face out of Fred’s chest so she can look up at him. “Yeah, unfortunately. Mum is too.”
“Then why in the hell do you want a cat?” Fred asks with a laugh, completely confused by Y/N.
“I don’t know, I’ve just always wanted one. They seem pretty cool,” she explains with a shrug. Y/N leans up to press a kiss to Fred’s cheek and then untangles from his embrace. “Come on let’s go, I wanna see if we can adopt that little black kitten. He was so sweet!”
Fred grabs Y/N’s wrist to stop her. “Um, what are you doing? Did you forget what happened back there?” Fred pauses when Y/N pouts at him. “Love I know you want a cat but I can’t let you suffer like that everyday just so you can have one,” he says softly, pulling her back into his chest. He cups her cheek and presses a soft kiss to her lips.
“But, kitten,” she says softly, looking up at him.
Fred smiles down at her and kisses her again. “I know, love. If there was some way for us to get a cat and it didn’t set off your allergies we would. But until that happens we aren’t going to get a cat.”
“Fred, have you ever heard of something called allergy medication?”
-
One hour, a trip to a muggle pharmacy and a pet store later, Y/N is lying in bed with their brand-new kitten sleeping softly on her chest.
“You’re a crazy cat lady, you know that?” Fred says with a laugh as he lays down next to Y/N.
She smiles up at him and tilts her head back to ask for a kiss. After Fred presses their lips together softly she looks back down at their kitten. “Yeah, but I’m your crazy cat lady.”

Kitten XI
Hey! It’s me! Sorry about the impromptu hiatus, but, ya know, life.
Kylo Ren AU x Reader
Warning: NSFW, minimal plot - maximum smut, eating assssssss, spanking (with belt), oral sex.
💋💋💋💋
1 year later
You pulled the fridge door open with such force that Kylo looked over from where he was making a coffee.
Grabbing a bottle of Pinot Gris from in the door you were aware, in your peripheral vision, of Kylo’s eyebrows shooting into his hairline.
“Not this time then?” He asked gently.
“Obviously!” You snapped, a surge of venomous anger washing over you.
You pulled out a wine glass and slammed the cupboard door shut.
“Kitten.”
The tenderness in his voice was all it took. You burst into tears- guttural, gasping sobs.
“I don’t-...why-...” you tried.
His arms were around you within seconds, pulling you into the warmth of his chest, hands rubbing soothing circles on your back.
—
Infertility was a bitch.
You never had any indication, apart from being the wrong side of 30, that you would have any trouble conceiving.
There was nothing wrong per se, with either of your reproductive systems. It just wasn’t happening.
You had tried for 6 months au natural.
Now, you had a regime of pills and injections that had taken over your life.
Sex had become monotonous.
You had never been more miserable.
—
“I can’t do this anymore.” You sniffed, “I feel sick all the time, my moods are completely erratic, Kylo, I can’t….i’m so…. ” tears were threatening to spill out of your eyes again.
You were snuggled up on the sofa, Kylo stroking your hair, your head resting against his chest, the beating of his heart calming you.
“You’re done, I can see that, it’s ok,” He soothed, “i want my happy wife back.”
“You’re not disappointed?” You asked in a small voice.
“Not in you, never in you, babe, but I’m really fucking certain there is no God.”
You snorted, breaking into a small smile.
—
It was like you both breathed an unspoken sigh of relief, after putting conception on hold. You gleefully packed away a pharmacy worth of medications and ovulation strips and deleted the multiple apps off your phone. Good riddance.
It wasn’t that you weren’t sad, of course you were, but there was also a part of you that was content with letting the universe decide.
Now you were on a mission to get your sex life back. The one that had been smothered under expectation, ovulation cycles and pharmaceuticals.
You hadn’t had sex in 2 weeks. The longest you had ever gone in your relationship. There was a sense that perhaps you were both decompressing from the intensity of the last 6 months. The clinical, downright boring, let’s-get-this-done sex to try and conceive. And my god, quantity was certainly not better than quality.
Tonight you were making an effort, having even finished work early and had your hair done. It had been woefully neglected.
The idea had been sparked by a dress in the back of your closet that you had caught sight of this morning. You had worn it the first time you met Kylo. It was black, tight in all the right places with a plunging neckline, surprisingly it was in one piece, despite being almost ripped from your body that night. You smirked at the memory.
—
Pulling open the door to the bar, you scanned the dim room for your husband.
You spotted him in a back corner booth, in head to toe black. His handsomeness still gave you butterflies. The way his dress shirt buttons strained just a fraction due his broad physique and his ability to dwarf the majority of furniture made you bite your lip and squeeze your thighs.
Kylo looked up and saw you when you were a few feet from the table.
He froze, slowly placing down his drink, jaw slackened.
Good.
Hair freshly styled, a fair whack of makeup and a sexy outfit had you feeling like a new woman.
You had forgone underwear, the bodice of the dress was tight enough to squish your breasts in place, the plunge of the neckline ending a few inches above your belly button. Long sleeves and a knee length hem kept the garment in the realm of tasteful. You opted for black stilettos, even though they were hell to walk in, you knew he loved them.
“Jesus Christ.” He half choked as you say down next to him.
His eyes lingered briefly on your cleavage before drifting up to the dainty gold necklace he had given you on your wedding night.
“Hello, Sir.” You purred, unable to suppress a grin.
His eyes flashed in acknowledgement as he recognized the dress you were wearing.
“Kitten.” His voice was almost a growl.
You picked up the drink he had pre-ordered you, sipping and meeting his searing gaze.
You leaned into him, placing a hand on his thigh,so your lips were right beside his ear.
“When I have finished this drink, I want you to take me home, and fuck me like you did before you knew my name.” You whispered, grazing your lips along his jaw and placing a quick kiss on his lips.
A smirk slowly appeared on his face as you took another sip of your drink, watching him.
“That depends.” He mused, picking up his glass and swirling the dregs of an old fashioned.
You raised an eyebrow, as his hand trailed up your thigh.
“Are you going to be a good girl?”
He felt you clench, his large hand was rubbing soft circles at the top of your thigh. His smirk only got bigger.
“Yes, sir.” You nodded.
“Then be a good girl and finish that drink, before I get us arrested for indecent exposure.” He quipped, before draining his cup.
You all but gulped down the cocktail.
You walked with Kylo to the bar, his hand rested on the small of your back.
As he handed over his card to pay, the hand drifted down and squeezed your butt, before patting it softly.
You looked up at him with a grin, “subtle.”
“Don’t get mouthy with me, Kitten.” He warned in a low murmur.
Entwining hands, you walked out into the night air to begin the short walk home.
-
You had walked as fast as your stilettos had allowed. Kylo was near striding, which had you giggling and cursing as you tried to keep his pace.
“Thank god!” You gasped, staggering into the elevator, behind Kylo, slightly puffed.
Kylo leant against the opposite wall of the elevator, eyes raking over your body.
“I’m not wearing any underwear.” You offered cheekily.
His eyes snapped up to yours almost in time with the elevator opening at your floor.
You exited before him with a grin, hightailing it to your door.
You toyed with his belt, grazing his growing bulge with your fingers as he fumbled with lock on the front door.
“Fucking brat, you have no patience.” He hissed, finally getting the door unlocked and pushing you inside.
“Says you, who dragged me home.” You countered, looking up at him.
He cupped your jaw and ran his thumb roughly across your lips. “You better be naked by the time I get to the bedroom Kitten. But leave those shoes on.” He pushed his thumb into your mouth, and you sucked it greedily.
“I need to think about how I’m going to punish you for being so mouthy.” He outright grinned as he pulled his hand away and turned you in the direction of the bedroom, smacking your ass.
You walked with an exaggerated sway of your hips. Pulling down the zip of your dress as you went. You could feel his eyes burning into your back.
-
Walking into the bedroom you kicked off the dress and bent yourself over, resting your elbows on the bed. You knew your legs looked great in these heels.
You were wet from the anticipation alone.
You shivered with excitement as you heard his footsteps.
You could feel him behind you, heard his belt being undone. You stayed still and quiet, like a good girl.
You jerked as the cold leather of his belt was dragged over your cunt, he slapped your clit with the doubled-over belt. Not hard, but enough to make you gasp.
“Soaking.” Kylo murmured.
He cracked the belt on your ass, you yelped at the sharp pain that quickly gave way to a wave of pleasure.
“Good girl.”
Another. You didn’t yelp this time, just uttered a guttural moan.
It seemed his patience was limited, you heard the belt be dropped on the floor before he took an ass cheek in each hand and squeezed.
“Kitten, you look so perfect bent over for me in those heels, this peachy ass- fuck!” His voice was rough.
“Thank you, Si- oh god!”
Kylo buried his face between your legs. You peeked back, he was fully clothed, on his knees, and you doubted you had seen anything more erotic.
He ran his hands up and down your legs, as his tongue probed your entrance.
You pushed back against his face unconsciously.
His hands traveled up and kneaded your butt cheeks again, spreading them, your whimpers of pleasure morphed to filthy moans as his tongue dragged upwards and he must have been spurred on, because he began to eat your ass with enthusiasm.
Your legs were shaking, you hadn’t experienced pleasure like this in, what? Months? God, you had forgotten how good it could be.
You whimpered as he pulled away.
“Lay down, baby girl, give those legs a rest, you’ve done so well, Kitten.” He murmured, guiding your shaking body to the bed, “need to make you cum before I fuck you.”
Laying on your back you had hardly caught your breath before Kylo pushed your legs open again and wrapped his plush lips around your clit.
You arched your back with a moan as he plunged two fingers into your warmth and sucked your clit.
“Ohfuckohgodbabyplease!”
Another finger and a subtle change of angle had you orgasming so hard your eyes watered and a rather large gush-
“Holy shit!” You yelped.
“That was…...so hot.” Kylo said huskily.
His pupils were blown, hair rumpled, and he was still fully clothed as he looked at you from between your legs.
“A lot of pent up orgasms.” You mumbled sheepishly.
You honestly couldn’t remember the last time you had climaxed - as sad as that was.
“I know babe, I’m so sorry, fuck, we just…..” he sighed with a look of anguish.
“It’s ok, it’s over with.” You reassured him. “Now can you please hurry up and get naked?”
The smirk returned, “I’ve missed this.”
Kylo placed some quick kisses down your thighs before standing up and beginning to strip off his clothes.
You watched, propping yourself up on your elbows, smuggly thinking, that is my husband.
“Are you gonna let me ride you?” You asked, eyes fixated on Kylo’s cock as it was released from the confinement of his trunks.
You had had enough missionary let’s-get-this-done sex to last a life time.
He didn’t answer, instead, he sat against the headboard. You crawled over to him, as he slowly pumped his cock.
You straddled him eagerly, batting his hand away from his cock and quickly replacing it with your own.
He cupped your butt as you hovered, lining yourself up.
“God, I love you.” He breathed, eyes roaming your body.
You beamed at him before easing down onto his cock with a sharp inhale.
“Mmmmph fuck! So good.” You kissed his lips gently as you rolled your hips experimentally, “I love you too.”
He squeezed the flesh of your buttocks, helping you fuck yourself on his cock.
You buried your hands in his hair, and kissed him. You hadn’t kissed with urgent, fiery lust in weeks. Within seconds you were moaning into each other’s mouths as your tongues did a well rehearsed dance. Nipping and sucking each other’s lips as your movements on his cock became more frantic.
“Not gonna last.” Kylo panted, pulling away from your mouth.
“Don’t care.” You whimpered, “please touch me.”
One of his hands moved to your front and dipped in between your bodies, seeking your sensitive clit.
“There! Hnnngh!” You cried as he began rubbing tight circles.
Your forehead dropped to rest on his shoulder as you felt his hips stutter, he came with a groan beneath you. You placed little kisses down his neck as he let his head rest back against the headboard.
The second orgasm that washed over you was less intense but just as magical, your toes curling while you made little noises of pleasure into Kylo's neck.
-
“We are never having sex for the sake of it again,” You mumbled, snuggling into your spent husband, “not when it can be like that.”
“Never.” He vowed.

Back to Bubbly
Pairing: Jaime x MC
Word Count: 2,800
Summary: After spending all of her free time at the hospital, Arden needs a break. Thankfully, Jaime’s got a plan to help her decompress.
Note: This story started as a drabble based on @krishu213‘s request for “markets,” but very quickly got out of hand. If you can make it through the angsty beginning, I promise there’s fluff to be had by the end.
Also, I offer my sincere apologies for how rough this is. I had a totally different fic on the docket for tonight, but ended up hashing this one out when I sat down to edit the other. Thanks for bearing with my shenanigans.
Arden couldn’t tell how long the ventilator and her own breathing had been working in tandem. Breathe, click click, breathe, click click...Their combined rhythm was perpetual, disrupted only when the door of 227 was breached by some visitor.
It hadn’t been like this the whole time her father had been in ICU. The first night she’d visited, she’d talked herself almost hoarse with the account of her trip with Ellen and their plans for uncovering Carmichael's schemes. When that story had ended, she'd resorted to telling him favorite memories from her childhood -- sharing secrets that he'd never heard in hopes that tales of her juvenile mischief could scandalize him out of his sleep.
The night after that, she'd filled him in on the developments in her relationship with Jaime. I think we might actually start dating, dad. Can you believe it? Mom would have been so proud of herself for calling it all those years ago... She'd gone on until the tears came and prevented her from telling him anything further.
But tonight had been different. There was only so much ground that a one-sided conversation could cover. Desperate, she’d picked up a newspaper from one of the waiting rooms on the way up. Once she'd read all of the stories that were of interest, they'd tried to complete the crossword puzzle “together.” Although she still teetered the pencil between her finger and thumb, she’d conceded defeat some time ago.
Knock, knock.
Arden glanced up at the disturbance, eyes taking a moment to adjust to the sensation of movement.
“Miss Gale?”
The nurse was one she recognized -- Gary or Jerry or something like that. Arden couldn’t quite remember. All the same, her tense brow eased a bit at the man’s pleasant expression. You’re in good hands, dad.
Hand still on the door, the nurse continued. "I just wanted to give you a warning that visiting hours are ending in about five minutes."
"Thank you," she mumbled as she shoved the pencil back into her purse.
"You're welcome." He slipped out of the room and Arden was alone once more.
Well, not completely alone.
Stretching legs that were weary from disuse, she stood beside the bed. She leaned over until her mouth hovered above his ear.
"I love you, dad. I have to go now, but I'll be back tomorrow. I promise." Tears welled in her eyes as she kissed his brow. Fingering the strap on her purse, she took one final look at his prone figure.
Each morning, she woke with resolve to bring him back from the darkness, calling on every higher power she'd ever heard of to work some kind of miracle. Each night, she tried to steel herself for the possibility that he would never wake up.
The cycle was threatening to drive her insane.
"Bye, dad."
Hating the finality, she added a hasty, "See you tomorrow," before she turned from his still form.
You've got this, Arden.
She took a deep breath through her nostrils, then pushed open the door.
You can do this, you can do this, you can do this. Her lips formed the words over and over, but it didn’t make them true.
On auto pilot, she made her way through the darkened hallways, pressing the button for the elevator without ever lifting her eyes from the floor. She hated how much the act of leaving the hospital felt like a relief -- hated even more the guilt that always accompanied that sense of relief. As long as there was any hope that he could recover, spending time anywhere else felt like giving up.
She smacked away at the tears on her cheek. With her free hand, she checked the time on her phone to calculate how many hours there were before she could come and see him again.
Messages (2)
Distracted by the notification, she cleared the lock screen and tapped the appropriate icon. It came as little surprise that both texts were from Jaime.
Hey, Arden. I know you're probably at the hospital, but I wondered if you’d like to do something tomorrow morning? I thought you might want a distraction.
If not, that's okay...you're probably exhausted and could use the extra sleep. Just let me know.
Jaime was right: she was exhausted. But Arden knew herself well enough to understand that much of what she felt wasn't physical exhaustion. And those other types of exhaustion -- the emotional and the mental, especially -- were things she couldn’t relieve on her own.
A few hours with him would probably do her a world of good.
After exiting the elevator, she stepped aside to tap out a quick response and switch her volume back on.
I'd love to see you! I just need to be back at the hospital by 10:00.
As she walked across the parking lot, her phone vibrated through the outer pocket of her purse. She checked the message once she’d made it into her car.
Great! Just shoot me a text when you wake up.
Turning the key in the ignition, Arden's lips curled into her first genuine smile of the day.
_______________________________________________________________________
Morning came earlier than Arden might have hoped, but she was fully awake once Opie managed to drag her out of bed. Pulling on her favorite jeans and a hoodie, she took the dog down to the patch of grass in front of her building.
While the puppy sniffed around in the sidewalk, she sent a quick message to Jaime: Are you up?
His response came less than a minute later: Just got out of the shower. I can be there in twenty minutes?
See you then. : )
By the time she’d fed both animals and wrestled her hair into submission, the twenty minutes were nearly up. She’d just finished tying on her tennis shoes when she heard Jaime’s rap on the door.
“Good morning!” Arden’s enthusiasm over seeing him lent a level of energy that she’d not felt in several days.
Wasting no time, Jaime wrapped her in a tight hug. “It’s good to see you, Arden.”
"Mmmmph.” She relaxed into his shoulder, enjoying the prevalent scent of his body wash.
“Did you just smell me?” he asked with a chuckle.
“It’s a compliment,” she promised. “You just smell really good.”
“I’ll take it.” He drew back with a smile, a strand of damp hair falling in front of his gorgeous brown eyes. “It's good to see you, Arden."
Instead of answering, she lifted a hand to brush the hair away from his forehead. Jaime’s smile widened and she wished -- not for the first time -- that she still the power to know his thoughts.
Opie jumped up on his pant leg, putting an end to the moment.
“Is this little guy the reason you’re up so early?” Jaime inquired as he lavished affection on the energetic animal.
“What can I say? Motherhood has changed me.” Arden rolled her eyes and reached for her purse. “But he should be good for another several hours now. Shall we go?”
They’d made it several miles down the road before he asked the question she’d known was coming.
"How's your dad?"
Staring out the side window, she picked at the seam on her jeans. "Same as before.” With a deep breath through her nostrils, she tried to separate the events into days -- a challenging task within the hospital monotony. “Yesterday...I think it was yesterday, they told me he’s avoided getting any bedsores, so that’s a good thing.”
He fell quiet, eyes fixed on the traffic light. Still, his free hand snuck over to her thigh. Her fingers curled around his palm, grateful for the show of support.
"The nurses seemed pretty optimistic when I was there a couple of days ago. Nothing's changed?"
"It's just a waiting game, and not the fun kind."
"Waiting rarely is." The light turned green, and he lifted his hand to switch gears. "But if it's okay with you, I'd like to go with you when you see him today."
"I'd really like that." Somehow, the thought of having another person with her in that tiny room made it feel less claustrophobic.
"So, about this morning," he narrated, turning onto a side street. "I figured you probably haven't been eating very well for the past few days."
Arden opened her mouth to object, but he beat her to the punch.
"Lemme guess... It's been a steady diet of Pop Tarts, Hot Pockets, and Kraft Mac and Cheese?"
"I had some SpaghettiOs yesterday."
He scoffed as he flicked on the blinker again. "You’re practically a poster child for the USDA."
Arden poked her tongue out in protest.
"Anyway, I was thinking we could stop by the farmers’ market and then head back to my place to make some breakfast. I've been craving fresh fruit and goodness knows how long it's been since you've had food that didn't come out of a box. Or a can," he added, sensing the objection before it even passed her lips.
"Does this mean we’re having pancakes?"
He pulled into an empty space, treating her to a cheesy smile as he put the car into park."I haven’t made them in a while, but I think this calls for it.”
"You're amazing. I don't tell you that enough, but you really are."
"Just trying to look out for you." He cast aside his seatbelt and swayed toward her for a kiss.
As their lips met briefly, she wondered why it was that his version of looking out for her didn’t feel like a threat to her freedom. It was one of the many questions she’d spent the last week trying to answer, but she still came up short.
He pulled away first, eyes sparkling as he exited the vehicle. "Let's go see what we can find."
“I’m hoping for honey,” she declared. “I wrote a story about some urban beekeeping efforts in Northbridge a few months ago, but I’ve never tried any of it.” “Maybe that should be our first stop.” Jaime indicated a tent toward their left. A gingham tablecloth served as backdrop for the attractive display, and Arden couldn’t resist dashing ahead of him in her desire to examine the wares.
First and foremost, her attention was drawn to the observation hive situated on the middle of the table. Crouching slightly, she fixed her eyes on the flurry of action in the center. Grateful as she was for the plate of glass that separated them, the tiny insects were remarkably compelling.
“They’re amazing!” she hummed appreciatively as Jaime caught up.
To humor her, he cast his eyes over the hive.
“I’ll be with you in just a moment,” the vendor assured as she completed a transaction with her previous customer.
“No hurry.”
Arden tore her eyes from the construction, considering the assortment of products being sold. Taking a beeswax candle in her palm, she passed the column under her nose. The faint sweet scent tickled her nose.
“Do you have any questions? Anything I can help you with?”
Jaime stretched out the pair of honey straws in his hand. “Did you want anything, Arden?”
“I think I’m good for now, but you’ll definitely see me again in future,” she promised with a nod at the vendor.
As Jaime paid, she took one final look through the glass. “I wish I knew what they were thinking.”
Jaime pressed a kiss to her hair as they walked away. “Don’t ever change. Please.”
Blushing, she sought his hand. But her fingers met a hard corner of plastic instead of his familiar skin.
“This one’s for you,” he explained, passing her the stick of honey.
She slipped the token into her purse, grateful to find his hand open to her on a second attempt.
They spent the next half hour circulating through various stalls. There was a momentary twinge of guilt when she saw a man about her father’s age picking tomatoes across the tent from her, but Arden suppressed it quickly. Visiting hours haven’t started. There’s literally nothing you can do for him. She breathed more easily at the thought.
By the time they were ready to leave, she was practically floating. When they reached Jaime’s house, she was lighter than air.
“You ready for some coffee?” he asked as they entered his small kitchen. “I’ll get some going before I start on the pancakes.”
“Coffee sounds great. I’ll go ahead and wash the berries?” Jaime responded by surrendering the cartons to her hands.
Arden found his colander easily and quickly set about cleaning the fruit in his sink. She snuck a glance over her shoulder while she rinsed, skin warming at the sight of him puttering around in the cabinets.
He was no master chef, but he knew his way around a kitchen, which was more than could be said for herself. Her own culinary skills left much to be desired.
Berries washed, she hopped onto a clear panel of the countertop, content to watch his efforts. “Let me know if I can help with anything,” she offered when he handed off her mug of fresh coffee.
“Just keep me company. It’s been a while since I’ve made pancakes.”
She took a long sip from the mug. Perfection. “I’m shocked. I thought Saturday pancakes were Lewis-family tradition?”
Flour in hand, he looked up at her with a wry smile. “They were. But traditions aren’t much fun when you’re living alone.”
Cheeks burning, Arden drained another mouthful to buy herself some strategizing time. Of course they’re not, you idiot. Why’d you have to bring that up?
She was opening her mouth to bumble an apology when he saved her.
“And that’s why I’m glad you came around today so I’d have someone to make them for.” He lifted the mixing bowl and made a point of angling away from her. “But I am going to have to ask you to close your eyes for a minute. Paula would never forgive me if I let you in on her secret ingredient.”
Although she complied with the demand, she couldn’t help laughing at his serious demeanor.
Whatever the tricks of Paula’s recipe, it made for the best pancakes Arden had ever had. Even the many memories she had of eating them in childhood couldn’t measure up to the plate of perfection she devoured at Jaime’s dining room table.
"That good, huh?" He joked, arching a brow at the empty dish in front of her.
"Can you cook for me every weekend?"
He gave her a funny look as he snapped the lid back on the bottle of syrup. "That could probably be arranged."
Gathering up their dishes, she followed him into the kitchen. "I could pay you back with kisses."
He paused, leaning against the cabinet to look her in the eye. When she turned toward him, his own gaze was narrowed in amusement. "Do your all of your kisses require some kind of trade?"
Arden deposited the plates in the empty sink, taking a moment to rinse her sticky fingertips before she replied to his query.
"Not for you, they don't. You can have them as often as you'd like."
"Not for me? Are there others you're in the habit of kissing?"
"Not at the moment.” She gave a breathy laugh at his insinuation, but then turned serious. “And maybe never again."
Jaime took her cue, arms opening wide for her to step into his embrace. She kissed him heartily, feeling the ache of uncertainty and fear slip away under his persistent lips.
As long as she was in his arms, she didn’t have to worry about having all of the answers. Guilt was no longer weighing her down. But more than that, she was struck by the assurance that she didn’t have to face the world alone.
He stopped her with a gentle hand. "We should probably keep moving if we want to make it to the hospital by 10:00."
“I know.” Although she agreed with his line of thinking, her desire and her better sense were very much at odds with one another. Reluctant to let him go, she lowered her arms to wrap around his waist.
“But before we leave, thank you. Truly.” There was a familiar pressure building at the corners of her eyes. She flicked them down to avoid crying. “The last few days have been torture, but this morning was perfect. I think I really needed this.”
“I did too.” His own tears glistened when he pulled away from her. “And I really mean it, Arden. I’m here for whatever you need.”
In the midst of all the whatevers life had thrown at her, she was beginning to wonder if he was all she really needed.

Hi hello can I have the latest OTP list for Piotr and Nina? The whole thing? Pretty please?
RIP to anyone on mobile I’ll tag it for y’all I’M SORRY BUT ALSO THANK
1. Acts like they’re dying when they have a cold. Colossus fjkdsks. For all the caretaking he does for others you'd think he'd be okay when catching a cold himself, but he's the biggest dramatic baby when he gets ill. Nina will come in dressed to the nines in protective gear (oven mitts, face mask, looking goofy as hell) to take care of him and inevitably get roped into staying in bed with him so he's not lonely, but he doesn't want her to get sick herself, so it's a constant argument of 'What do you WANT from me?!'.
2. Gets mad at the TV and throws the remote. Neither of them really have a throw the remote reaction. They both moreso get angry and walk off to avoid doing anything drastic, though if Nina is angry enough she'll definitely punch through the tv.3. Gets the worst road rage.Nina. Colossus is usually too big to be behind the wheel so he's shoved in the passenger seat having to calm her down when they're stuck in traffic or behind a slow driver. Have a horn honked at her one too many times though and she WILL get out of the car and tell them where she'll be shoving her foot if they keep it up.4. Spends too much time in the bathroom on their phone. Nina. Colossus isn't one to waste time in places like the restroom and very rarely uses a cellphone in general because he's old fashioned as hell. Nina however will stay in there for as long as she can whether it be to avoid her classmates or to look at memes with Venom for long periods.5. Packs the whole closet for an overnight trip. Colossus. Ya boi like preparing for any and every situation that could possibly happen along with any essentials that Nina might (and does) forget on their trip. You need sunscreen? He's got it. Bandaids? Step aside Momma Bear Colossus came packed and ready with a whole med kit for this exact situation.6. Hates the in-laws. Nina. Colossus loves Ninas parents like they were his own, as the majority of his own family isn't alive anymore. But Nina? She has serious beef with Illyana after being abandoned in Limbo by her for essentially 4 years after getting into a tiff with her. They eventually make up but their relationship is strained because of the incident.7. Hits the snooze button…11 times. Nina. She's a BIG nightowl and often spends nights fighting crime and the only reason she goes to bed at even a remotely decent hour is because of Colossus and how much of an early bird he is. After around the 8th snooze he usually comes in with coffee and forces her out of bed sgksfdjkg8. Makes the other late for work. They both have their own ways of making each other late. Nina because she wants just a little more morning cuddle time or some good morning sex. Colossus because he wants Nina to have a good breakfast for the day ahead or to remind her that she needs to do xyz before leaving ("Did you take your medicine?" "Did you get your chocolate?" "Did you-" 'YES DAD')9. Uses the television as a babysitter. Colossus kjfafkaHe usually only does this method when he needs to distract the teens in the mansion while he needs to talk to someone, but if it works it works!10. Takes in the stray dog. Both of them, hands down. Colossus would probably be more open about it, get the dog groomed and taken to the vet before presenting it to Nina, but Nina being the more clumsy of the two would definitely try (and fail) to hide the dog before Colossus walked in on her trying to give it a pep talk on how it needs to be more sneaky LOL11. Suggests a 3am trip to McDonald’s. Venom kdjkfkaHe wants those fresh 3am hashbrowns!!12. Leaves their shoes out for the other to trip over. Nina. Not on purpose, but just is kind of absentminded with this type of thing and when she gets home she's just concerned about getting her outerwear off and laying on the floor. Colossus is the unfortnate victim of tripping over both her shoes, bag, or even her if it's one of those types of days.13. Can’t make up their mind when it comes to dinner. Nina, mostly because of Venom who's first response is always usually 'TATER TOTS, CHOCOLATE, LIVER!' despite Nina always saying that they can't live off just those three things (ESPECIALLY not the last one).14. Needs to be reminded of all their appointments. Nina. If her head wasn't attached she'd forget where she put it, so Colossus leaves lots of sticky notes and texts for her to remember upcoming appointments (and little cute notes along with them) and on the rare occasion Wade or Fury if it involves 'business' business.15. Bribes the other into doing chores, getting out of the house…and taking a shower. Colossus gjskgjsg Nina can be a bit of a shut-in due to her depression and working on her school work for long periods, so Colossus often tries to bribe her with little things like sweets or even some snoosnoo if it means she'll get up and take a walk outside with him.16. Picks the movies. Colossus usually. Nina was banned after telling him that 'Us' was a romantic comedy.17. Takes the safety steps when building a pillow fort. Colossus, he's a momma hen at heart and wants to make sure the fort is extra fortified for any rough and tumbling they might do inside wink wonk18. Kisses the other’s injuries better. Both. Seeing that they always come back at least a little battered and bruised after their missions they always take a little time to pay extra attention to the injured spots with lots of kisses and shares stories between one another about how they got them before drifting off to sleep.19. Is addicted to angry birds, game of war, candy crush, temple run, or flappy bird. Colossus. He doesn't like to admit it but those games often take his attention and would probably be the only reason he would be stuck in the bathroom on his phone (from the earlier question). The house eventually has an intervention for him when he can't focus on anything else but getting an extra life in Candy Crush djgksgs20. Kills the spiders. Venom eats them before Nina can freak out too bad over them LOL21. Hogs the blankets. Colossus. Since he's so big its not hard for him to tug some of the blanket and end up with the entire thing. This results in Nina forcing him to be the big spoon so even if that happens she still gets to be warm ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ22. Takes pranks too far. Nina for sure. She usually teams up with Bobby (Iceman) or Kurt (Nightcrawler) to pull some silly prank on Cyclops because he's always so uptight about everything that end up going too far which results in her getting scolded quite a bit by both Colossus and Xavier. This doesn’t stop her from continuing to do stupid stuff like making sticky hands to harass her peers from afar.23. Makes the dirty jokes. Nina, though Colossus is known to fire back some dirty jokes of his own at rare moments which often catches her off guard. They even go as far as teaching each other their native languages so that they can do this easier in public places (it really doesn't work though because they both still get super embarrassed when it happens)24. Keeps a piggy bank. Colossus. He usually keeps one as a curse jar and likes putting money in whenever anyone else curses too. Needless to say when Wade was living in the mansion that piggy got very full. He later uses the money to help mutants in need and eventually when he starts dating Nina, to use for what he hopes will later be a nice date or a trip to Paris for them to visit her family.25. Has no problem having ice cream for breakfast. Nina. Especially after a long night of fighting crime, she has no qualms with plopping down in bed with a big bowl of chocolate ice cream for her and Venom to feast on while Colossus looks at them in horror.26. Gets a tattoo when they’re drunk. Colossus. He's lucky they can't aren't permanent because of his metal skin because when he really lets loose he ends up waking up with some really silly tattoos, usually big and gaudy and of a 'mom' heart or his current beau. With Nina being able to control ink though some of the tattoos can only leave if she permits it, which leaves her to be very devious sometimes.27. Trips over their own feet. Nina. She's a mega clutz and often ends up tripping over herself as a result. Luckily she's goofy and can laugh at herself when these things happen, despite wanting to die inside skgjsgs28. Makes the other go for a walk. Both. Be it because of a tiff they had or just to unwind from a long day they usually end up taking long walks at night to decompress and talk about what's on their mind. Despite not being big on PDA Colossus always ends up either holding Ninas hand and/or pulling her in close when they walk because he enjoys being close to her.29. Whines until they get what they want.Nina. She doesn't do it often but when a chocolate hankering kicks in or there's something new she wants to try with Colossus she will pull out all the stops, including latching onto him with her powers until he's too tired to argue gsjgskgs30. Tries to act tough but really isn’t. Colossus. He's got a lot of bark but hates using his bite and will only use it when push comes to shove. Overall he just uses his size to lecture his students when they've done something wrong.
31. Talks the most, says the least. Nina. She can let her words wander quite a bit when she's not focusing on the conversation at hand, but she gets her point across when needed.32. Talks the least, says the most.Colossus. He doesn't talk as much as Nina, but when he does speak his words are short and to the point.

New York State of Mind Part 2 (e.u.)
Part 1
You and Eggsy sat in “conference room” waiting to get debriefed on the next mission. Your arm was still in a sling from you getting shot. Eggsy was in “normal” street clothes, as were you. Not needing to be in a suit or a fancy dress. “How’s the shoulder feelin’ love?” Eggsy asked, from his chair next to you.
“Hurts like hell and I wanna die.” You answered. “Don’t be so dramatic.” Empire said as he entered the room. “You’re the one who won’t give me pain pills.” You rebutted. “Because you could have gotten yourself and Galahad killed.” Empire said.
You knew that he was right so you didn’t argue with him any further.
Eggsy noticed the tension between you and Empire from the day you two were in the same room. He could see he cared but you really knew how to push his buttons.
“Vincent Corleone is still alive. The brothers had an accomplice who took the technology from the Statesman in Kentucky and advanced it to heal his wounds in a matter of minutes. Galahad, with Liberty still hurt, you’ll have to work alone since your old partner was called back to the UK.” Empire explained. “I’ll be fine, Empire. Let me help.” You interjected. “Absolutely not. You’re still hurt and could be a liability.” He said. “The only way I’d ever be a liability is if I were dead. Galahad and I started this together and we’re going to end it together.” You fired back.
Empire looked at you for a moment before he sighed and rubbed his temples. Eggsy grabbed your hand under the table and squeezed his gently. “You know who else said that? Your father and brother. Before they were killed.” He said.
Eggsy looked at you as you rolled your eyes and sat back in your chair. “I’m not like them. Don’t use it as an excuse not to put me in the field. I need to finish this mission with Galahad.” You said in all seriousness. “Your father would kill me letting you finish this when you’re hurt. But, if you’re dead set on this, Y/N. Might as well.” Empire said. You gave him a triumphant smile before grabbing the case briefing and leaving the room.
You smiled at Eggsy as he walked next to you. “You really know how to get what you want don’t you?” He asked. “I’ve had years of practice.” You replied.
The two of you stopped in front of your living quarters before you opened the file. “What’s the case?” Eggsy asked looking over your shoulder.
“Annual blackjack tournament. They host it every year but it’s not just a wholesome game for charity. They rig the game every year so the more money put down, the less you win. Our job is to act like you have millions to spend, me being your fiancé and then we put an end to all of them. We’re not leaving a single survivor, I want them all dead.” You explained.
You didn’t realize how close Eggsy was to you until he spoke. “What about if Vincent shows up?” He asked. “Odds are he won’t. If he does, well we gotta act a little more quickly.” You answered.
“We get to play a couple again.” He commented. You let out a small laugh before turning around to look at him. “Yes we do.” You said.
Eggsy started to leans in before you put a hand on his chest to stop him. “Oh no. No more kissing until we have that date.” You told him. “God knows when that’s gonna be! You can’t do that to me.” Eggsy rebutted. “Mind on the mission, Unwin.” You said before handing him the file and heading into your room.
Eggsy just kind of stood there frozen, not really knowing what to do. Never has a girl had the effect on him that you have. Not even Tilde, the princess he was going to marry.
A few hours later, you got called into Empire’s office and had no idea what was going to happen. Eggsy followed you and stood outside the office to hear what was going to be said.
“Y/N, we need to talk.” Empire said. “Okay? What about?” You questioned sitting in the chair across from him. “It’s about your father and brother. You have never been this impulsive before. Getting shot isn’t like you. Now, I know today of all days is extremely difficult for you but you can’t let it affect this mission.” The man said to you.
You rolled your eyes before looking at the man. “How many times do I have to tell you I’m fine? It’s not about them.” You rebutted. “Then why have you made 5 calls to your brother’s voicemail i’m the past two days?” Empire asked.
You didn’t have a smart ass answer for that one. You looked at your hands, trying not to show weakness. “You can cry, Y/N. It’s okay.” Empire added. “Crying won’t bring them back now will it?” You questioned finally looking up at him with tears in your eyes.
“If you can find a way to do that then maybe i’ll listen to you but until then, we don’t talk about them.” You snapped as you stood up.
You turned around and wiped the tears off your cheeks as you exited the office. You came face to face with Eggsy on the other side.
‘Don’t let him see you cry.’ You thought yourself. “Y/N,” He started before you briskly walked away. “Not now, Eggsy.” You said quietly walking away from him.
You went to the only place that made you forget for a few minutes. It was kind of cheesy but you’d always go to the hall of ocean life whenever you needed to just decompress.
You stepped into the exhibition and stopped in front of the giant whale display. That’s when you were lying down on the ground just staring up at it. Why you did that, you didn’t have the answer to but it just made you feel small. Which sometimes you needed being a spy and all.
Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you finally let out all the pent up emotion. You cried for a little bit before you started laughing and then cried again.
You brought your hands up to your face and wiped away the tears when you heard someone lay next to you.
“Is this normal for you?” Eggsy asked, humor laced in his face. You began to cry and laugh at the same time before you stopped. “Pretty much. Sometimes you need a reminder that your just another person in this giant world. That it won’t be the end of the world if you fail.” You answered before sniffling. “What happened to your father and brother?” Eggsy asked.
You were lying there in silence before you answered. “A year ago, they were killed on a mission. Trying to stop the same people we are. And it was my fault. I was in the field with them and they second guessed to save me. That’s why I don’t want any survivors.” You explained, still staring at the ceiling.
Eggsy turned his head to look at you and could see you were just trying to keep it together. He moved his hand to intertwine it with yours.
“I’m sorry.” He said quietly. “It’s okay. I can’t let it stop from finishing the mission. We go in, take them out and take that gel technology and just get home alive.” You said.
You turned your head to look at him, the first time you did since you’ve been talking. “I don’t want you to be a hero. Because nine times out of ten, being a hero gets you killed. And you still owe me that date.” You added.
He didn’t say anything but lean forward to place a gentle kiss on your lips. And that was all the reassurance you needed in that moment.
••
You were in your room, getting yourself ready for the mission. You decided wearing your sling was going to slow you down and you took it off.
You were wearing a short black dress with black shoes and your hair was curled and was down freely. Empire gave you a huge diamond ring that was really a laser that posed as an engagement ring. Kind of cheesy and stereotypical spy but it got the job done when needed. Looking at the clock, you grabbed the clutch purse and opened your door, completely running into someone.
“Jesus,” You muttered at the impact before you looked up and saw it was Eggsy. His eyes scanned your body before they met yours. “You do this on purpose, love.” He told you.
You laughed lightly before replying. “It’s my goal in life.” You teased, walking past him. “Now that’s just cruel.” He commented, following you.
The two of you walked towards the car that was taking you to the event.
Eggsy could see how jittery you were getting as the car drove. He looked down at your hand and noticed the ring on your finger. “Damn, that’s huge.” He commented picking up your hand. “Be careful. I wouldn’t have it to laser you in half.” You said. “You Americans think of everything.” He muttered. You shrugged your shoulders, your hand still in Eggsy’s.
It calmed you down a bit as you pulled up the venue. “Let’s do this.” You muttered, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the car.
The two of you stepped inside, and it felt like you transported to Vegas. “Liberty, Galahad. Vincent is at the Blackjack table with his newest conquest. Liberty, you can’t let him see you. He’ll know you’re there to kill him and he might get the upper hand.” Empire instructed you two.
Eggsy grabbed your hand and led you to the table. He sat down and placed a bet while you stood inconspicuously behind him. “She your girl?” A man next to him asked, gesturing to you. “That she is. Stunning isn’t she?” Eggsy answered. “She’s gorgeous. Got quite a rock on her finger too.” He replied. “Nothing but the best for the love of my life.” Eggsy said before taking a sip of the drink that was at the table.
You smiled to yourself but kept your head down so Vincent wouldn’t see you.
You saw him stand up from the table and you started to fiddle with the wire necklace around your neck. “Liberty, don’t.” Empire said. “You cut off the head of the snake, the body dies.” Eggsy interjected. “But this operation isn’t a snake. It’s a hydra. Cut off the head and three more grow back.” You corrected. “Which is why, once he steals this round of money, he’ll take it back to the rest of his team. And then I’ll be there to kill all of them. I came prepared this time.” You added.
Since you couldn’t sleep, you were planning of ways to get the upper hand over the men who shot you and killed your father and brother. Your dad always told you to never leave a stone unturned. You snuck out of headquarters and were heading towards the venue of the Blackjack tournament.
You were carrying a backpack, with a trigger activated bomb that you were going to put in the room where Vincent would be with his colleagues. You were going to need leverage if you planned on getting any information out of them. Especially when they had the Statesman gel formula.
Sneaking into the very posh venue, you silently made your way towards the room. “Empire is going to kill me.” You muttered. You crawled under the giant table in the center of the room and attached the bomb to the bottom of it.
It was small enough where they wouldn’t suspect anything of it but it could blow up an entire city block. You were hoping you wouldn’t have to use it.
This wasn’t a mission where you were going to do it with little casualties. You wanted Vincent’s entire operation to crumble. “Galahad, talk some sense into her.” Empire said. Eggsy quickly stood up and followed after you. “Y/N, think about this. You’re going in there blind.” He told you.
“I’m not though. There are cameras everywhere. Including that back room. I hacked into them this morning. I can see everything but they only see what I want them to.” You said. “I can’t actually lose you.” Eggsy said, his voice softer.
You placed a hand on his cheek gently before you kissed him. “You won’t.” You whispered before leaving him there.
Walking stealthily down the hallway, getting your gun ready. You snuck a silencer out of Empire’s stash so the other guests wouldn’t be alarmed by the sound of a gunshot.
“You got this, Y/N. You are your father’s daughter after all.” You said to yourself. “Probably not the best thing to say before you’re going to kill the men who killed your father.” Empire interjected. “You make a point.” You told him. “Be careful, Y/N. Eggsy’s grown quite attached to you.” Empire said. “I don’t plan on dying without that date.” You said before you cut off the communication with him, so you could focus.
You had many tricks up your sleeve, and hoped that the bomb would be enough persuasion for them.
Taking a deep breath, you opened the door and stepped inside. Instantly, all guns were pointed at you. “Relax, boys. We’re just going to have a little chat.” You said pulling out a chair and taking a seat.
“I shot you two days ago.” Vincent commented. “Yeah, thanks for that by the way. You’re making my job a whole lot harder.” You replied. “Now, you’re going to tell me how you got Statesman healing technology and who the hell gave it to you.” You added.
“And why should we tell you?” Vincent asked, the gun still pointed at you. “Because if you don’t I’m going to blow this place to pieces.” You answered. “You killed my father and my brother. I’m showing you no mercy.” You told them. “Ah so you’re Mike’s other kid. Good man, sorry he got in the way.” Vincent said.
You clenched your jaw before taking your necklace off and swinging it around your finger. Walking behind the one of the men, you swung it around his neck quickly. “You’re going to answer me. Or each of you is dying slowly and painfully.” You said losing all humor.
“What is your little necklace going to do?” Vincent asked. You pressed the button next to your hand and the wire began to turn a bright shade of red before the man started to scream in pain. As this man’s head was being sawed off, you didn’t break eye contact with Vincent.
His head fell to the ground with a thud before his body slumped over. “Now, how about that information? Or this place goes boom.” You said. “We bought it from Whiskey. He sold it to us.” An unknown man said.
Vincent looked at his friend as a smirk grew on your face. “Thank you.” You said before shooting him in the head.
That led to a chain reaction of the men firing at you, but you were too quick and ducked under the table only coming out to fatally shoot one of them. When it was only you and Vincent left, you came out of your hiding spot and he quickly wrapped his arm around your neck.
His hold grew tighter as you stepped on his foot with your heel and used your free hand to elbow him in the nose. When he let go, you kneed him in the stomach and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
He was reaching for his gun but you kicked it away. “Please don’t. I-I’ll stop, just please don’t kill me.” He begged. “If only you showed my family mercy.” You said before firing your gun into his head.
You sighed, before quickly making your exit out of the building. You didn’t want to be in that building any longer after what you just did. You were used to killing people but that didn’t make the carnage any easier to deal with.
Taking a deep breath you leaned down and placed your hands on your knees, just taking deep breaths, but you couldn’t help the tears pooling in your eyes.
“Empire, where’s Y/N?” Eggsy asked, looking through the huge crowd to find you. “I lost her connection. I have no idea where she is.” Empire answered. “Shit.” Eggsy muttered, going down the hallway where you were.
He turned the corner and entered the room you were in formerly. He saw the bodies and once he knew the mission was done, his only concern was finding you.
Eggsy saw a service exit door and quickly pushed it open and walked into the alley.
He looked around and saw you trying to compose yourself. “Y/N, love. Are you alright?” He asked coming over to you. He cupped your face in his hands, making you look up at him. “It’s over. Everything’s okay.” He told you.
You stood up straight before latching your lips onto Eggsy’s. You wrapped your arms around his neck, him wrapping his around your waist tightly. You slowly parted, as you looked into each other’s eyes.
“How about that date?” He asked. You laughed lightly before you let go of him and placed your hand in his.
“I must say, you taking control like that was pretty hot.” He joked. You laughed, slightly nudging him as you exited the alley. “How is that deal working out for me?” You asked. “I mean, I haven’t heard Tilde’s name once.” You added. “Who’s that? She’s most definitely not you.” Eggsy replied.
You smiled up at him as you walked down the streets of New York.

»»———— CHAPTER ONE ————-««
My life for the longest had been such a drag.
It was as if nothing ever seemed to go right. Or at least in the way, I would have hoped for. I was already in my mid-20s, college dropout, working at a dead end job, barely able to make ends meet. I felt like I should have been so much further ahead but because of the choices I made, these were my consequences. It was something that I had to deal with. Or at least try to make changes, but being the stubborn person I was, that was never going to happen.
I had just made it home from work, a worn out look on my face as I dragged myself up the three flights of steps I had encountered. Working in retail was pretty rough. In some cases physically but more so emotionally. The local supermarket I worked at was pretty busy in the evening time, up until we closed at 10:00 PM. Tonight was one of the more busier nights and someone had called out of work, leaving us understaffed. I was so glad to have been out of that place. So glad to be able to return to my bubble which was my studio apartment.
As I made it to my front door, I fumbled around in my bag trying to get ahold of my keys. As I pulled them out, about to insert it into the lock, I dropped them on the ground causing me to groan in annoyance. My body felt completely drained and I was not in the mood to bend over and pick them up. But I did so anyways in a swift motion, having them in my hands once more and successfully putting them in the lock, turning it to the side and unlocking my door finally.
Walking into my small place, I dropped my bag at the entrance, kicking my shoes off in the process. It didn’t matter to me where they landed. It didn’t matter to me where anything was. All I wanted to do was go into the shower and let the water run on me for a bit.
“Geez...what a long freaking day.” My shoulders slumping down as I talked to myself.
I began walking towards the bathroom but would halt in place as I winced from the pain coming from the balls of my feet. They must have become sore from all the standing I did at my register while at work. Not to mention there were points where I had to help a few elderly people carry out their groceries due to being understaffed. Days like these always had its toll on my body, but it seemed like tonight was more severe than others.
“Is this job even worth it anymore?!” Frustration clearly could be heard in my voice as I resumed my way to the bathroom.
Flicking the light on, I took the sight of the small area that was my bathroom. The place that was my residence was all entirely compact, despite the recent renovations that were made to it. I was in no right to complain about it though, this was adulting at its finest. There were times where you had to settle for what you could get or in this case afford. Surprisingly enough, this little home that I called mine had really grown on me. It was my shelter from the outside world, a place where I could shield myself from my depressing reality. Where I didn’t have to worry about anything once I made it past the front door.
It was what I called my sanctuary.
I opened the glass door and turned the shower head on. While waiting for it to heat up, I stripped myself of my clothes, tossing them into a laundry hamper I kept in the corner. Reaching my hand into the shower, the temperature was at my preference, I nearly fell hopping into what was now a steamy paradise. As soon as my body came in contact with the hot water, I felt my tired muscles thanking me. The water felt so amazing that all I could get out was a long “Ah” as I continued to allow myself to stand there, opting to keep my eyes closed tightly. I began to heavily think about the day I had gone through, the first step in what was my decompressing process.
I had come to terms that I wasn’t the happiest that many others my age were already experiencing. If time travel were something possibly, I would have done so in a heartbeat. My resolution for this year was to try and be as positive as I could be. I was off to a good start but then life happened. Things were being thrown at me full force that it was super hard for me to have that mindset, ultimately giving up on it. Trying to remain positive was a lot harder than it was made out to be.
In an attempt to shake off the negative thoughts that were forming in my head, I opened my eyes and grabbed my loofah, squeezing a good amount of body wash onto it before proceeding to bathe myself. Paying close attention to the soapy lather spreading across my body did help keep my mind off things for a bit.
Twenty minutes later, I made my way from the bathroom and over to the living space of my studio, the largest part of the whole place. I somehow was able to make these living arrangements work, keeping the bare minimum as far as decor. On one side was my full sized bed, on the other was a couch, and I was lucky enough to have enough room to include a small television that was mounted to the wall and a small desk that I rarely used and was mostly for show.
I sat down on the couch, pulling my favorite blanket over me as I reached for my laptop that was still on its charger. Something that I did as part of my nightly routine was to watch videos over on YouTube. Particularly K-Pop videos and if we went further into the specifics, of the BTS variety. Whenever I was in a crappy mood, which was pretty much all the time, I found comfort in their music as well as their seven personalities. Which was the reasoning as to why I didn’t have a bias in the group. I loved them all equally and to be honest it would have been such a hard task for me to do if I only had to choose one of them. So I chose to remain ot7.
Once getting situated on the couch, the video I decided to begin watching was a live performance of ‘Spring Day’. Something about the song always seemed to put my mind at ease. From the jaw-dropping vocals to the beautiful choreography, this song was simply put...a work of art. I found myself staring attentively at the screen on my lap and as I watched them perform I couldn’t contain from fangirling over it, over them.
“They’re absolutely perfect!” I squealed as I shook my head in excitement.
The excitement I was feeling was growing immensely. Even if it was for those few minutes, it felt so good to have a positive reaction to something. Those seven seriously brought so much joy and happiness into my life when I immersed myself in them. How could seven men whom I never met have this kind of effect on me? What kind of sorcery were they using?
Not paying attention to the time, hours flew by. Several at that. Whenever I watched BTS I would lose track of time. It was a little after 2:00 AM and I finally decided to close my laptop and make my way over to the bed. My body definitely needed some rest. I flopped onto the bed, feeling my body bounce up as I stared a bit at the ceiling above me. I felt one of my goofy grins spread across my lips, those negative thoughts that had been clouding my head were now pushed to the back. Bangtan really made me happy. They really meant that much to me. Still looking up at the bare ceiling, a random thought came to mind as I thought of BTS.
I hope one day I can thank you.
Exhaustion began to overtake my body as I climbed up under the comfy sheets, resting my head on the two pillows I had stacked on another. My bed felt extremely amazing underneath me, causing my eyes to find themselves shut as I dozed off into a peaceful slumber.
That night I had a dream about the seven men I was so fond of.
Beep, Beep, Beep
I tossed around as I faintly heard the annoying sound of my alarm go off, thinking that the noise would stop. That wasn’t the case as it seemed to only get louder from my protests of waking up. I was nearly close to throwing my phone against the wall but instead let out a raspy groan as reached for it and turned it off.
“Ughhhhh”
I pulled the sheets over my head, not wanting to wake up in the slightest. As I placed the phone to the side of me, hitting the lock button and was soon blinded by the light coming off of the screen. My eyes burning from the light taking a bit of time to adjust to it and the time that was displayed across the top.
9:00 AM
I hated the fact that “AM” followed those digits, a low snarl coming out of my mouth as I pushed the phone further away from me. I was the type of person who enjoyed their sleep very much. On days where I didn’t need to be up early for work or had the day off, I prefered to sleep in as much as I could. Which got me to question why I had an alarm set in the first place? Today was my day off so why did it go off?
I rolled back and forth a bit, my body clearly wanted to be awake despite my resistance not to. Finally laying on my back, I pushed the sheets off of me letting out a series of huffs and puffs like a child that was throwing a tantrum. After laying there for a few minutes thinking to myself, I was able to come to the conclusion as to why my stupid alarm had went off. I smacked myself on the forehead, eyes were now open and adjusting to the sunlight that was peeking in through the windows.
“Duh Y/N”
A recent goal of mine was to become a slight more productive on my days off. I had found myself to be asleep until the afternoon, times when there a lot of people out and about. Being the introvert I was, I always chose to remain inside since I had never liked to be around a crowd of people. Which is why I decided on days off that I would try to wake up at a morning hour that way I could run errands if needed and not have to worry about being surrounded by many people. The only time I would put that way of thinking aside was if I had a shift.
I found myself laying in my bed laughing at the behavior I had just displayed. It was a tad immature on my end which made my chuckles come out louder, echoing against the walls of my apartment. Now that I was fully awake I reached to the side of me and grabbed my phone once more, this time holding it above me as I unlocked the screen and proceeded to open up the Twitter app. As part of my routine, whenever I would wake up I would check my social media. I followed my favorite K-Pop groups and a few other people who posted witty posts that I enjoyed seeing on the daily.
As soon as I opened the app, I was greeted by a new tweet that was from Bangtan’s account. I scrolled down a tiny bit to see a very cute selfie that Jimin had posted, his signature finger heart was present as well as his adorable grin. I found myself recreating that goofy grin from last night, squealing a bit from how handsome Jimin looked. The fangirl in me was ready to come out, even this early in the morning.
“JIMIN! I swear you are so freaking adorable for me to handle!”
As I would like to say, my eyes had truly been blessed with the image that was in front of me. I absolutely loved whenever I saw updates from the boys. It truly felt like they wanted to include A.R.M.Y in everything they did. And with me being an international fan, I appreciated this so much! I knew that they lived busy lifestyles with promoting their new album and such so something as simple as tweeting a picture, really made my heart melt.
I was indeed very soft for these seven.
Setting my phone aside, I decided to get up and get a head start to the day ahead of me. There wasn’t much that I needed to do but I wanted to get everything done before the afternoon, leaving me with the rest of the evening to relax and get ready for the work week that would be starting over soon. All that was needed to get done was some minimal grocery shopping and for me to message my mother and check in with her. Looking at the time, thirty minutes had passed so it was still pretty early that I wouldn’t have to encounter many people grocery shopping as well as long lines. I stretched my arms above my head, allowing a yawn to come out. I shook my head in approval. Waking up early was sounding more appealing to me by the second. For my next day off I made a mental note not to fight it one bit.
A few hours had passed by as I made my way up the fight of steps, the last few bags of groceries in hand. I seriously questioned my choice in living on the top floor. At the time I must have done so to avoid my neighbors as much as possible. But days when I had to carry things up these stairs alone was killing me. Living on the third floor had it perks but this was surely not one of them. It was also a fairly warm day out, the heat causing small trickles of sweat to fall down my neck. I had only been back and forth carrying things in and I felt that at any moment my body would just give out.
“Damn, it’s pretty hot out now. Good thing I decided to go out early.” I wiped the sweat on my forehand with the back of my free hand.
The weather that was present today was pretty unusual for this time of year. This type of weather wasn’t around until the summertime, which had been long gone. Shitty weather like this was another thing on the list of as to why I never liked going out. I quickly shut the door behind me, returning to my cool air conditioned home. Making my way into the kitchen I had all the bags sorted out into designated areas they would be going. I’d like to say I was a organized person. Everything had its own home. If the order was to be disturbed, I would quickly fix it. I liked to keep my place in tip top shape, making sure it stayed that way. I was putting away a box of macaroni when I heard my phone buzzing on the counter top. I set the box down in exchange for my phone and unlocked it to see a string of messages from my mother.
MOM: Sweetie…
MOM: You said you were going to message me
MOM: And I haven’t heard from you
After reading her last message, she gave me no time in trying to respond, three dots popped up signalling she was typing out yet another one.
MOM: IS EVERYTHING OKAY????
A sigh escaped from my mouth as I read her last message, shaking my head in the process. My mother was truly something else. She had always been so paranoid with me for as long as I could remember. She was the type of mom who needed to know my whereabouts at all times, if not then all hell would break loose. It was really smothering growing up but as I got older she seemed to tone down a little. Though she still continued to freak out over the smallest things, me forgetting to message her was a prime example. I hurried to respond to her, not wanting her to worry herself too much.
Y/N: Mom, everything is more than okay. Sorry I forgot to message you. I was out grocery shopping and just got back.
MOM: Phew! I can be at ease now. You know how worried I get when I don’t hear from you.
MOM: I know it’s your day off so I will let you go so you can relax some more. Call me when you can okay?
Y/N: Of course! I’ll call you on my next day off so we can catch up more.
MOM: Sounds good. I look forward to it. I love you sweetie.
Y/N: Love you too mom.
My phone found its way back onto the counter as I set it down. Though I know worrying my mother wasn’t a funny matter, I couldn’t help but let out a small giggle. Somethings never change when it came to her. Doesn’t matter the distance, my mother would always be well my mother. Moments like these I missed her dearly. But if I hadn’t gone out into the world the way I did, I wouldn’t have been able to learn what I knew to this day. She would always be there whenever I needed her but I had to try fly out on my own wings
After being in thought for those few moments, I went back to the task at hand and that was to finish putting up the rest of the groceries so I could enjoy the rest of my day.
After putting everything away, I plopped down onto the couch. Though I didn’t do much today I felt a sense of satisfaction. I surely felt productive, I was taking baby steps. If I continued at this rate I knew that I could be able to accomplish more on my days off and even better if I ever needed to run errands before or after a shift. Thinking about baby steps, I thought about my current social life. Pretty nonexistent but if I really wanted to I was sure I could begin to network with other people and even eventually make some friends. Of the physical variety.
Maybe I’ll have the courage to put myself out there once again.
Having graduated from high school years back, I distanced myself from the small group I once was able to call my friends. We all went our separate ways to pursue different things in life, I heard a few of them stayed in touch but no one really seemed to reach out to me after I became silent from them. Even the people I worked with had a hard time approaching me, so I rarely had any conversations while on the clock. I thought of myself to be a genuinely nice person once approached but I was said to have what was called “resting bitch face”. Was I really that intimidating?
Taking a look around the place while placing my feet on the ottoman in front of me, I couldn’t figure out what to do. I was for one of the few times in my life...bored. My surroundings were all clean, I already ate dinner, and for some reason I was not in the mood to play any video games. Looking up at the television mounted on the wall collected dust I thought that I would have watched something but the question was what exactly? It didn’t take long for me to scrap that idea and continue to search for something, anything to do. My eyes continued to scan the room suddenly stopping at my desk. There was a poster of BTS hanging right above it and as my eyes lowered themselves to the contents laying on my desk, an idea struck me.
I got up and walked over to it, pulling the chair out and placing my bottom firmly in it. My eyes were now lingering on a notebook that my mother gave to me when I first moved out. It was intended to be a diary but I never got around to using it, not wanting to scribble the pages with negative thoughts. I carefully opened it and tore a few pages out of the binding, making sure not to rip the pages. This was something that I had been wanting to do for a very long time. I had always been a bit nervous to do something of this nature but now was a perfect time to do so. I was going to write a letter to my beloved BTS.
I grabbed a few pens and markers from the cup that sat a top of my desk, trying to figure out how the header of this letter would look. I watched a lot of K-Pop pen-pal videos as well as heavily took inspiration from the beautiful letters they would create. Writing in a gorgeous calligraphy font I had recently learned, the top of my page read “Bangtan Sonyeondan” in English. I took my time with it, making sure my down strokes were near perfect. Placing the marker in my hand down, I examined the page before me and felt a sense of satisfaction. Everything looked just as I envisioned it, but now I would move onto the crucial part: the actual letter itself.
Knowing me and since this was going to be addressed to the boys, I was a hundred percent sure this would become an essay. Even more so since I had been taking Korean lessons for a few years now and this would be the first time I would put it to use aside from the classroom. I was pretty advanced when it came to my speaking skills but I sort of lacked when it came to writing out Hangul. It would always come out a bit sloppy so I made sure this time around I would take my time with my strokes. As I grabbed a black pen, I began writing what any fan would write to their favorite idols:
Your music is amazing!
Keep doing what you guys are doing.
Please stay healthy and get plenty of rest. Make sure you’re eating and drinking plenty of water.
But after getting all the cliche stuff out of the way, my letter became more of a vent. My pen scribbling back and forth across the page, my heart going into every word that was written. I had completely lost track of time as I went about writing to them. Not even noticing that the sun was beginning to set and my room was growing darker from the lack of light. I finally took notice of it, turning on the desk lamp with the hand I didn’t use to write and I continued putting my entire being into this letter. I took in the sight of the completed pages scrambled on the side. I so far had written five pages worth, impressing myself. Though I could continue to go on and on about my life, I decided that I would soon close it, allowing my hand to rest from the constant writing.
I seriously cannot thank you seven enough. Without your music, I don’t know where I would be. Though I can be a bit harsh on myself, your music is the only positive thing I have going for me right now. Though we may never meet, just know that I will always be rooting you guys on.
Fighting~
Sincerely,
Y/N
Folded the paper neatly in thirds, I stuffed it into an envelope I had lying around followed by placing three stamps in the right hand corner. Thinking to myself a bit I added a fourth one just to be on the safe side. I had never mailed anything internationally and wanted to make sure that it would reach its destination. I was feeling extremely happy. Who would have thought that something as simple as writing fan mail would be so rewarding? Leaning back as far as I could, I stretched my arms feeling a slight yawn forming in my mouth. Taking a look at the time it was still pretty early for going to bed but I took it upon myself to begin my nightly routine a bit early. This time with a different approach, there was no need for me to decompress.
I was feeling extremely positive, a truly rare occasion. That goofy grin could once again be found across my face.
TWO MONTHS LATER
It had been a few months since I sent that letter and with that my life went back to being the shithole that it was. That positivity that surged in me only lasted for a few days, work becoming extremely hectic since someone quit and I was the lucky one who had to work extra hours. Now I necessarily wouldn’t complain about the paychecks I had been receiving but my body was becoming the most worn out it had ever been. It felt like lately I didn’t even know what sleep was. I barely had gotten any over the course of two months.
It was nearing the end of my shift and for whatever reason today I dealt with nothing but rude and obnoxious customers. Back to back. On any other given day I would have the tolerance for this type of thing, due to the nature of my job, but it was a little hard for me to do so today. I was a hair away from snapping. I was currently ringing up this middle aged woman who refused to acknowledge my existence. I got to scanning her last item and looked up to make eye contact with her, keeping a “customer service” type of smile on my face.
“Okay, that brings your total to $72.96” Holding the fake smile that was plastered across my face, hoping she was buying my bubbliness. The one thing about customer service was that you had to bullshit from time to time, it was sometimes key in keeping the happy customer.
To my surprise, she actually bought it, reaching into her purse to pull out a crisp one hundred dollar bill and handing it over to me. As I do with any customer who hands me anything over a twenty dollars, I reached for my counterfeit marker and striking a quick line across it. But as I did so I could tell that I was making this woman upset as I heard her huff in annoyance.
“I have you know that I work VERY hard for my money. I just got that from the bank so why do you feel the need to check it? Tch. Bitch.” she snarked at me, trying to mumble the last bit to herself but I heard it.
Loud and clear.
My eyebrow was rapidly twitching as I bit down so hard on my tongue, fighting the things I wanted to say to her but was not about to lose my job over. The little bit of sanity that I had was already out the door, but I had to do my very best to restrain myself from jumping over this counter and pinning this lady down. Regaining control, I sighed heavily and silently before I responded back to her. I needed this woman to hurry up and get out of my checkout lane.
“I do apologize ma’am it was never my intent to upset you. I’m simply following our store’s policy and have to check anything over a twenty.”
Not wanting to look at this customer anymore, I hurried to enter the amount she handed me on my cash register. The till popped open and I wasted no time in grabbing her change out the drawer as well as the receipt that printed alongside with it. Still holding back with every being in my body, I continued to bite my tongue, my smile more fake than it was during the duration of this interaction.
“$27.04 will be your change back and here is your receipt. We truly appreciate you taking the time to shop with us today, enjoy the rest of you evening~” There was definitely sarcasm in my voice with the entirety of that sentence.
All the woman did in response to my “cheerfulness” was roll her eyes, snatched her change and receipt from my hand and pushed her cart away. Not even a goodbye from her. If one thing was sure, I was so glad that that was over. She was literally the icing on the cake and I was so fed up at this point. Checking the time on my register, I noticed that it was a few minutes passed the end of my shift. I immediately flicked my checkout light off so I wouldn’t be bothered with any customers.
I just wanted to curl into bed and sulk in my misery.
A slight migraine was beginning to bother me as I brought my hand up to my forehead, closing my eyes to try and relieve the pain a bit. I tried to tune the world out for a few moments, listening to the sounds that made up the supermarket. Lots of people shuffling around and scanner beeps that I grew very accustomed to.
Once I get home, I’m looking for a new job. Screw this place.
That thought that always lingered in my head. I was officially done with this place. I could probably find something relatively quick and once I did, I would hand in my two weeks notice, scratch that I would hand in my immediate resignation. I had it all planned out. Just was never sure on the timing.
But that was a no longer a question up in the air. Now was the time.
“Excuse me..”
My thoughts would soon be interrupted by a man’s voice, hearing his accent right away. I blew out a bit of hot air as I was unsure if I had the patience to even politely steer this customer into the next lane over. It baffles me how people would always come into my lane when it was clearly stated I was closed. I brought my hand down, ready to put on my persona one last time before I got the hell out of this place.
“Sorry Sir, my lane is actually closed. If you need to checkout you can do so in the next lane ov-”
Bringing my attention upwards towards him I found myself lost in mid sentence. My eyes grew in size to not only seeing one man standing there but seven! Not just any seven, a very very specific seven that I could never forget how they looked. It felt like my jaw dropped to floor over the shock of the men standing before me. Was I dreaming?
I pinched my cheek a bit, they were still there. I closed my eyes a few times thinking I was hallucinating but they were still there. I even slapped my cheek a bit harsh only to find them still standing there, some of their eyebrows raising up in question. They were all taller than me, and extremely attractive. It was just like how I saw them in my dreams but ten times amplified. I stood there, unsure of what to think of the event that just unfolded.
Bangtan Sonyeondan was literally on the opposite side of me.
My head couldn’t process what my eyes were seeing. I was completely at a blank. What would I even say in this situation? I noticed a few of them smiling at me, waiting it looked like for me to say something to them. To know I was aware of their presence. In situations like this where I am not one with my mind, I always was what others would say unfiltered. Speaking whatever was floating around in my head. And though I would regret it, I did exactly just that. I said the first three words that came to me, the most classiest thing I could ever say:
“No fucking way.”
[TO BE CONTINUED]
A/N: Oh, Y/N you have such a potty mouth haha Phew! I’m so glad I rewrote this because I really do like this version much better than the first. Since I do work full time, I won’t be able to pump out these chapters in the way I would want to. But please feel free to check out my other works in the meantime.

Open and Closed for Business
For someone who writes for a living, I sure do have a lot of resistance to it sometimes. And it’s not that I’m not writing. I always have some new script or entry going in my head. It’s that I fail to take those words and put them on paper or text.
Perhaps the resistance has to do with my own level of acceptance in what I want to communicate.
I’ve spent the past 2.5 months processing and shedding a lot of what no longer serves me. While this has been an ongoing process for years, the most recent months have especially produced a lot of reflection, tears, anger, grief, and ultimately joy.
In the beginning of August, I wrote one of the most vulnerable and heartfelt blogs I’ve ever written. It was an Open Letter about Faith, Religion, and Freedom. I finally came to terms with how I had been molding myself to fit others’ perception of me. I came clean about religion and faith and what the journey has been like for me. I was extremely nervous about hitting the publish button. I was nervous about what others would think and how they would react. Yet, even with my fear around that, I knew it was something I needed to write for me.
After I hit publish, I felt like hiding. My head was swarming with fears of rejection, ridicule, and judgment. To my surprise, I met the opposite of that. I was met with such admiration for taking a bold step in writing about this, acceptance from so many people, and validation that what I had to say was important. I was blown away by the responses I received. Message after message flooded my inbox with others stating how they felt the same way or had a similar experience.
I was so humbled by the outpouring of love and acknowledgment I received.
A few days after I published that blog, I set off on a 7-week journey to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. The day I was leaving for Spain, I felt so apathetic and numb. I was so indifferent to leaving. Yes, of course, I was excited about visiting new countries and being out in the world again. But something inside of me felt numb. As the plane took off, tears began to fall down my face. I cried for nearly 2 hours. I was lucky to have a row to myself so I could be in peace.
I suddenly felt like a little girl again. Jumping up and down saying, “See me! Hear me! Love me!” I felt in so many ways that this post was an outcry of wanting to be seen and known. And the ones I wanted to see it, did nothing. There was no communication, no push back, nothing. And while on one hand, it was nice to not have conflict, another part of me was wanting that. I spent the entire flight processing through this and why it meant so much to me. Why did I care so much? I finally came to terms with it. I had written a clear and concise post and there was no need to say anything. The post spoke for itself.
When I arrived in Barcelona, I checked into a yoga retreat. I wanted to gift myself some time to decompress after a busy summer of nonstop travel and engagements, and give myself time to continue to reflect and process.
I instantly knew I had made the right choice.
I was surrounded by 10 other beautiful souls from all over the world in a safe and loving environment. The manager of the retreat was a lovely woman from Germany. She had the most beautiful energy. She offered bodywork specifically in the area of chakra clearing. I scheduled a massage with Ulla and was ready to relax and allow whatever was to come. After the massage, Ulla told me that my heart and sacral chakras were closed. “Tell me something I don’t already know,” I thought.
If you’re not familiar with your chakras, you have 7 areas of energy within your body. You can read more about each chakra in-depth here.
Your sacral chakra is your second chakra and has to do with creativity, the birthplace of new ideas, and sexual energy. When the chakra is closed, you are blocking your center for creativity and blocking your area to receive and enjoy pleasure. The color orange is often associated with your sacral chakra. Your heart chakra is the fourth chakra. It is associated with the color green and is your center for being open to giving and receiving love, kindness, and compassion. When your heart chakra is blocked, you are guarding yourself or putting up walls from allowing love to come in. And this can result in blocking love that you give to yourself.
Ulla told me that I don’t allow myself to feel. I suppress emotions and often pretend like everything is okay. I take an overly optimistic approach to life at times. While this may seem like a good thing, it’s actually creating tension within. When you block yourself from allowing emotions to surface, you are cutting off this energy and pushing it way down.
Eventually, that energy will have no choice but to reveal itself in often unpleasant or unexpected ways.
She encouraged me to be gentle with myself. Not try to force anything, but to allow emotions to come when they come. She told me not to be surprised if I suddenly feel sad or angry. Over the next month, this is exactly what happened. I would randomly burst into tears or find myself consumed with anger. Sometimes I would even wake from sleep with such anger. When I was traveling in Portugal with my friends, they revealed to me that at times I would yell out in my sleep. It was as if my subconscious was telling me that I had no choice but to release it.
I’ve hated anger and conflict my whole life. I remember hiding when my parents would argue or yell at each other. And I find myself triggered when I am surrounded by it. I learned from a young age to hide from it. And made a rule at some point that it wasn’t okay to feel anger. Or to express myself with tears. I basically blocked off any unpleasant feelings. And I blocked others from giving me love.
When anger arises or sadness ensues, allow it to come. Allow yourself to feel whatever is there.
Direct your anger away from others and in a safe environment. If you feel like screaming or yelling, get in your car and scream. Smash pumpkins or coconuts. Allow yourself to move through the emotions rather than avoid them. The same is with tears. There is nothing wrong with crying. It is one of the best releases and ways to let go of stored-up energy. When you have released whatever emotions come, take deep breaths and let it go. Don’t hang onto it any longer.
Take some time to journal and reflect on what came up for you and lovingly let it go.
I was beginning to feel lighter after allowing myself to feel and release all of these emotions. I was cutting cords from my past and setting myself free in many ways. I was beginning to feel and receive love and allow my creative ideas to flow. And I was noticing that even when hugging people, I was letting my guard down and learning to relax my body. My friends have often commented that I’m so tense when they hug me. This is part of me guarding myself. The more I appreciate and love who I am, the more I am able to let others in.
When I arrived in Portugal, I connected with two of my best travel buddies. We had plans to travel together for 2 weeks. I was feeling in a better space. I had given myself a lot of time to heal, and I had had a really productive work week the week before. I felt like I had a new wave of confidence. I was learning to speak up when conflict ensued and not hold back. I was walking in my power and allowing emotions to come and go. The more I spoke up and shared whatever I was going through, the more open I felt.
Sometimes you think you’ve moved through something only to hit another roadblock.
About a week into our travels, I realized that I hadn’t really had a regular bowel movement in several days. It’s normal when you’re traveling to a new place and eating different foods to experience this for a couple days. After it had gone on for a week, though, I thought it a bit strange. And at the same time, I wasn’t too concerned. I figured my body was getting used to eating a lot of olive oil and bread.
My friends and I ended our time together in Morocco after traveling for 2 weeks together. They went back to the states and I decided to stay. I wanted to explore this country and see what it had in store for me. I ended up having the best time in Morocco. I modeled in my 6th international photoshoot while there and made many beautiful connections. I felt like my heart and sacral chakras were opening and allowing me to step into creative flow again.
I returned to the states at the end of September. I had been dealing with an upset stomach off and on towards the end of my trip. And when I returned to the states, the discomfort continued. I had an opportunity to attend Hay House Live in Houston for a workshop with Dr. Joe Dispenza. If you’re not familiar with Dr. Joe, he is an international lecturer, author, and researcher. He studies neuroscience and how meditation effects the brain. And ultimately teaches how to rewire or reprogram your brain to break habits. The workshop was amazing. I learned so much about habits and how often we carry our past into the present and create our futures from the past.
At the end of the day, he lead us through a powerful guided meditation. During the meditation, I could feel intense pressure in my lower abdomen. I even felt pulsing sensations. I remember thinking that something seemed off. The following day I took a bus from Houston back to Dallas. While on the bus, I was continuing to feel pressure. And I even began to feel a bulge in my lower pelvic region. Something was not right.
Listen to your body. It will tell you when something is off.
The following day I made an appointment to have a physical. I rarely go to the doctor and trusted my instincts that something wasn’t right. The doctor said she definitely felt something there. She scheduled for me to have a trans vaginal ultrasound. She suspected that I had an ovarian cyst and wanted to know for sure. I followed her advice and schedule the appointment. Something in me told me that it was not a cyst and had nothing to do with my reproductive system. And my intuition was right. The results came back clear.
While I was happy to hear there wasn’t anything serious happening, it still left me unsettled without answers. A couple days later, I was sitting on the couch and my stomach was so swollen. I was feeling intense pressure again. I began to worry. I called one of my friends who is a doctor and was asked to come over. She checked me out and said I was definitely blocked. She wasn’t concerned that it was anything serious and gave me some protocols to work towards clearing it.
After I left her place, I was thinking back to my time in Spain and the chakra clearing work. And then I instantly knew, this blockage had to do with me not fully releasing everything I had worked through. It was clear that my Solar Plexus chakra was blocked. I had spent much time opening my heart and sacral chakras and had somehow blocked this area. You Solar Plexus is associated with the color yellow and serves as the center for your self-confidence, identity, and personal power. This is where your ego lives.
You can only fake things for so long. Eventually your body will shut down or react and alert you to what needs to be healed.
Being self-employed and an entrepreneur is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. When I was working for a company, I had a boss and a team backing me. They believed in me enough to hire me and keep me around. I remember when I left my career after 11 years feeling as if I had no skills. Obviously this isn’t true, but it’s what my ego (the noise in my head) was wanting to tell me. I’ve been afraid to put myself fully out there. I’ve had to deal with conversations around money and worth and how I charge for my services. I’ve had to learn to not take things personally and know that when someone gives me a “No”, it’s not me. Not everyone is going to be a right fit.
When you’re entire platform is built around teaching confidence, it seems contradictory that the person teaching it would be lacking confidence in their own way.
And yet that is where I’ve been. I can travel to countries by myself. Live without a plan and without knowing where my next paycheck is coming from. I can model in photoshoots and allow my self to be on display and seen. Yet when it comes to my own self-worth and offering my services to the world, I hide. It’s as if I’m standing on the edge of a cliff and telling everyone I’m going to jump and never going through with it. And then I remind myself of all that I’ve done and who I am in this world. I remember that I actually did jump off the cliff (in Morocco nonetheless).
The only person standing in my way from fully stepping out there is Me.
I’ve spent the past couple weeks doing chakra clearing meditations and writing a daily summary of gratitude. I can feel my stomach and my digestive system beginning to work again. I feel my confidence beginning to increase. People are reaching out to me for collaborations and opportunities. I have my first speaking gig on stage at a conference in New Zealand this weekend! I am putting myself out to the world and sharing my mission of doing photoshoots in countries all over the world as a way to support local photographers, designers, and stylists. Things are finally happening! And it’s all because I allowed myself to be uncomfortable and find healing and let go of the story that I’m not worth it.
MEDITATE and tune into your heart center.
OWN who you are.
ACKNOWLEDGE how far you’ve come.
Find GRATITUDE in all things great and small.
Keep inching towards the edge of the cliff and, before you can talk yourself out of it, JUMP.
REMIND yourself of all that you are and all that you have to offer.
REPEAT over and over again until you believe it.
The more you do this, the more your self-worth, confidence, and courage with grow. You’ll find more freedom in all areas of your life and find flow in the areas that were once blocked. Others will see you and be grateful that you finally stepped up and stayed out.

You get silly or say something stupid, or you don’t even recognize yourself as you watch yourself act like a fool. Well, BIG FOOT needs someone who understands that. And since we all do, he needs us all! There’s no doubt this big, gorgeous brindle boy “is” silly and goofy, sweet and playful, extremely friendly and full of joy and energy. The police who brought him there, after finding him wandering the street in his collar and leash, exclaimed on how “gentle and friendly” he was. And watch his video with the volunteers -- so patient and polite, sitting on que and waiting for his treats. They love him, and why not – he’s so darn cute. What Big Foot needs is a neuter (he’s pretty amorous when you don’t want him to be) and he needs an experienced adult only home where he can get the structure, decompression and time to get by his ordeal of being lost, incarcerated, and confused. He has a heart of gold, he really does, and there’s not a bad bone in his body. Please won’t you pick him, foster and adopt him and save his life? Hurry and MESSAGE our page or email us at [email protected] right now for assistance fostering or adopting beautiful, big hearted Big Foot! As a staff member writes: “Big Foot is a big, beautiful, brindle boy. As opposed to a creature of folklore, this Big Foot is the real thing, with many hidden talents to show! This boy is willing to exchange a 'sit' and 'paw' for some delicious treats. He has displayed some interest in playing with select dogs while in our care. Big Foot would benefit from additional decompression time and positive reinforcement training to help him adjust into his new life!” MY VIDEO! Big Foot shows off for his many admirers ♥: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVxKc534p70 KOKO, ID # 54599, @ 2 Yrs. Old, 72.4 lbs., Unaltered Male Manhattan ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Brown Brindle / White I came to the shelter as a Stray, 2/11/2019 Shelter Assessment Rating: New Hope Rescue Only Medical Behavior Rating: 2. BLUE AT RISK MEMO: Big Foot has a very low threshold for arousal and isn't easily redirected. We are recommending placement into an adult only environment. Medically he has had diarrhea but is otherwise healthy at this time. INTAKE NOTES – DATE OF INTAKE, 2/11/2019: Big Foot allowed for all handling during the intake process. It is important to note that Big Foot would mount the female counselor and when pushed off and told "no" he would bark at the counselor. The officers who brought him here also described him as gentle and friendly. Big foot is very treat motivated and knows sit and paw. SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Big Foot is a large mixed breed male dog. He came in unaltered and as a stray. Big Foot seems extremely friendly around strangers shown by a wiggly body and a wagging tail. He seems like he will mount female strangers aggressively as shown with the admissions counselor during the intake process. His behavior around children, other dogs and cats is unknown. Big Foot seems like he may have resource guarding issues. He came in with a collar and a leash that he was found in and when the admissions counselor took the collar and leash from him he began to bark. Big Foot has no known bite history. It is not known if he is housetrained. His energy level is high. For a New Family to Know: Big Foot seems like a very energetic and friendly dog. During the intake process, he had a very wiggly body and wagging tail. The officers who brought him here also described him as gentle and friendly. Big foot is very treat motivated and knows sit and paw. SHELTER ASSESSMENT SUMMARIES – Date of Assessment: 2/13/2019 LEASH WALKING Strength and pulling: Hard Reactivity to humans: None Reactivity to dogs: None Leash walking comments: None SOCIABILITY Loose in room (15-20 seconds): Could not conduct due to incessant mounting. He displays slight play interest when solicited. Due to arriving as a stray, Big Foot's history around dogs is unknown. Slow future introductions are recommended due to limited observation around other dogs in the care center due to observed consistent mounting of human handlers. INTAKE BEHAVIOR - Date of intake:: 2/11/2019 Summary:: Social, mounted counselor and barked when pushed away MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial:: 2/11/2019 Summary:: Hard barking IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS: 2/13/19 Attempted to retry assessment. As soon as handler sat down, he began mounting. Handler did not call or touch him beforehand. Due to this incessant behavior, the assessment was ended. 2/12/19 When attempting to do Big Foot's assessment, he repeatedly tried mounting the handlers. He was not distracted by (or even noticed) a squeak sound or pet corrector. Despite being pulled off repeatedly, Big Foot continued to try and mount. When he finally he paused (having deterred him with food), he began to hard demand bark at handlers. The assessment was stopped and he was returned to kennel. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: Due to his concerning behavior, Big Foot should be placed in an adult-only New Hope Partner home. Potential challenges: : Low threshold for arousal Potential challenges comments:: Big Foot gets aroused around people, and how he reacts is by mounting. He is not deterred by food, pet corrector or verbal commands, and has to be forcibly pulled away. While his behavior has not escalated, we feel that this level of arousal could have a tipping point. We recommend a New Hope partner that can implement a force-free, positive reinforcement training program for him. Please see the handout on Low Threshold for Arousal to help manage this behavior. Apparently, Children, and Click: Seth "Humans my let you down, but remember baby boy, you are a King, own your crown." 53230, a 2 Yrs., 58 lbs "Please, I want to live" Brooklyn ACC TO BE KILLED 1/29/2019 "Humans may let you down, but remember baby boy, you are a King, own your crown." Sweet SETH is Rescue Only, and it appears it is because he is anxious at the shelter. This is to be expected. One day he is lost in the street with another pup, having a great adventure. The next minute he was making friends with a person who he thought would play with him, maybe give him a treat, only to be brought instead to the shelter. All the while he was with his finder he was happy, outgoing, friendly -- jumping up for a hug. Poor Seth is just a youngster, barely 2 years old if that, and he just wants the safety and love of family, his own bed, his own toys, the comfort of a routine he can count on. He’s a stunning little man, and when he is with the staff and volunteers he may be shy, UNTIL they whip out a toy! Then his face lights up. Poor Seth has probably never had anyone play with him, or give him toys. He probably hasn't had much in the way of attention, pets or hugs. He needs an experienced foster or adopter who can show him just how wonderful the love of a family can be. If you can save his life by fostering or adopting Seth, and provide him a clam, structured home where he can decompress and warm at his own pace, please hurry and do so now. Being Alone, Andrew Bogut, and Apparently: HE LOST HIS FAMILY&THEN HIS BEST FRIEND&BROTHER, YOSHI. MISSES HIS DAILY BELLY RUBS, PLAYING FETCH, WRESTLING W/HIS DAD. HOUSE & CRATE TRAINED, A GOOD WALKER, LOW ENERGY, FAMILY BOY Bowser Id 37326,1 Yr., 4 Mos. Old, 65 lbs. of Love, Neutered & Dreaming of going home.... Waiting for you, Manhattan ACC TO BE KILLED - 8/14/2018 “Where is my mom? Where is Yoshi? I can’t believe I’m so alone.” You can see it in Bowser’s young eyes - the disbelief that he has been completely and utterly abandoned after spending his whole life with a family and his sibling friend, Yoshi (now safe). Just a baby, less than a year and a half old, Bowser is terrified at the shelter. He is not aggressive, he simply is so frightened by all the unfamiliar faces, the unfamiliar smells, and the agonizing cries of the other dogs around him who miss their families too that he is unable to cope, unable to be himself. He tries to run, he tries to bolt, he just wants to get back to the home he loved and the family he adored. His memories make his heart ache. He remembers being coddled, he remembers his daily belly rubs. He remembers long games of fetch and then wresting with his dad. He wonders what he did wrong, though as he goes through his list of skills, he can’t imagine what it could be – “I’m housetrained, crate trained, I only pull lightly on walks….maybe it is because I growled if I had a rawhide I didn’t want to give up? I didn’t do anything about it, I just made that nose….maybe that was it? Oh please don’t say that was it! I didn’t mean it, I promise to be good.” We feel so heartbroken for young Bowser. He should be back in a family home, surrounded by people who love him, an experienced adult only home where he can decompress and warm to his new surroundings at his own pace. Please consider fostering or adopting this youngster and giving him back his smile. He’s lost everything – home, family and his best friend Yoshi. PRIVATE MESSAGE our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance. BOWSER, ID # 37326 @ 1 Yr. 4 Mos. Old, 65 lbs. Manhattan ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Black / Tan, Neutered Male Owner Surrender Reason: Moving to No Pets Housing Shelter Assessment Rating: New Hope Rescue Only Intake Behavior Rating: AT RISK MEMO: At the care center, Bowser has been observed to react to other dogs on leash, lunging towards them and hard barking. We are recommending Placement with a new hope partner. There are no medical concerns at this time. INTAKE NOTES – DATE OF INTAKE, 8/6/2018: Bowser was thrashing, lunging, snapping, pulling. biting the leash. He came in with a muzzle. He had a stiff body and he did not allow to be collared. OWNER SURRENDER NOTES - Basic Information: Bowser and Yoshi came in to the shelter due to the owner moving to a new place where they don't allow dogs. Bowser previously lived with 2 adults and 1 dog. Around strangers, Bowser is anxious in the beginning. He has not lived with children. Around other dogs he is somewhat rough, likes to tag, nibble on ears, chase and wrestle. He has not been around cats. He does not resource guard. He has never bitten a human or other animal. Bowser is housetrained and has a low energy level. Bowser isn't bothered when someone touches his food nor pushes him off furniture. He also isn't bother when someone tries to restrain him or disturbs him when he's sleeping. Bowser isn't bothered when nails are trimmed. When someone takes bone or raw-hides or treat away he tends to growl. For a New Family to Know: Bowser is described to be a shy and anxious. His energy level is low. He lays around and enjoys belly rubs daily. Bowser loves to fetch and wrestling. He is described to be house-trained and uses the bathroom on grass areas. He sleeps in cages and pulls lightly. When off leash he stays close by. SHELTER ASSESSMENT – DATE OF ASSESSMENT, 8/9/2018. Summary: In his kennel, Bowser runs away from people who approach and hard barks. When he is able to be removed from his kennel, he panics, bolting away and barking at handlers. He does not allow handling, avoiding it and panicking when attempts are made to touch him. Out of concern for his stress levels, he is not a good candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Please see is owner surrender profile for a full report of his behavior in his previous home. INTAKE BEHAVIOR - Date of intake:: 8/6/2018. Summary:: Bowser was thrashing, lunging, snapping, pulling, and biting the leash. ENERGY LEVEL:: Bowser is reported to have a low level of activity. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY. Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner. Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to how uncomfortable Bowser is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Place with a New Hope partner: Bowser barks at and avoids any interaction with handlers at the care center. For this reason, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Anxiety,On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration. Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Bowser appears very fearful of handler at the care center, avoiding them and barking at them. He has allowed very minimal handling. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is recommended to assess behavior after decompression in a new home environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing or exposing Bowser to new and unfamiliar situations. Anxiety: Bowser is described as anxious around new people, a behavior which he has also displayed at the care center. We recommend giving him puzzle toys, long walks, and things to do to relieve his anxiety, especially when new people are around. Positive reinforcement, reward based training only should be used. On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration: At the care center, Bowser has been observed to react to other dogs on leash, lunging towards them and hard barking. Bowser may need positive reinforcement, reward based training to teach him to look at you rather than other dogs. We recommend a front clip harness or head halter to help manage this behavior. Being Alone, Andrew Bogut, and Apparently: SHY, SWEET, PLAYFUL YOUNGSTER. LOYAL AFFECTIONATE, ADORES OTHER DOGS, LOVES BELLY RUBS, HOUSE & CRATE TRAINED YOSHI ID 37325, 1 Yr., 4 Mos., 73 lbs., Waiting for his Perfect Family, At Manhattan ACC TO BE KILLED - 8/10/2018 “He lays around and enjoys belly rubs daily,” said Yoshi’s owner before she left Yoshi and his sibling Bowser at the shelter and walked off into her new life and new “No Pets” apartment. We’re fuming. Some parent! They knew Yoshi is shy with new people initially, and that this young man has only known the love and safety of family life. He misses his friend Bowser, and he misses the parent who obviously didn’t deserve his love and affection. Yoshi is a good boy. He is super playful, loves to wrestle, and enjoys immensely the company of other dogs. That is where he shines and it’s his only comfort during his long, lonely days at the shelter, days spent alone in a windowless kennel. He belongs with his person, he belongs in a home. He is housetrained, he sleeps in his crate at night, is very easygoing about having his nails trimmed or being pushed off the furniture. He only pulls lightly when on leash walks, and when he is off leash he sticks close to your side, a bit of a scaredy cat about facing the big wide world on his own. Let’s face it, Yoshi is a wonderful boy, a loyal and loving family pet, a youngster barely 1.5 years old who is now facing his death for being shy and timid at the shelter. He is NOT aggressive, on the contrary, he is frightened, and during his assessment when the assessor attempted to touch him he panicked and fled. He fled! Poor, sweet, Yoshi. He so needs an experienced foster or adopter in an adult only home where he can decompress, get by his ordeal and then find his smile again. His breed is loyal, affectionate, and focused on making their parent the center of their life. If you are looking for a lifeline companion, you won’t find better than Yoshi. PLEASE Private Message our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance fostering or adopting him now. Manhattan ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Black / Tan, Unaltered Male Owner Surrender Reason: Moving to No Pets Housing Shelter Assessment Rating: New Hope Rescue Only Intake Behavior Rating: AT RISK MEMO: Yoshi is at risk for behavior reasons. Yoshi is very fearful at the care center and nervous of unknown people and items. Due to the level of fearfulness observed, we are seeking placement for Yoshi only with a New Hope partner. Medically we have no concerns for Yoshi, who presents as a healthy dog. INTAKE NOTES – DATE OF INTAKE, 8/6/2018: Yoshi had a stiff body but did not lung nor bite. He was easy to enter with in a kennel due to being done so fast pace. He was unable to be collard due to stiff body language and warning signs. OWNER SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Bowser and Yoshi came in to the shelter due to the owner moving to a new place where they don't allow dogs. Yoshi previously lived with 2 adults and 1 dog. Around strangers, Yoshi is shy in the beginning. He has never been around children. When around other dogs, he is relaxed and playful. Sometimes he can play very rough. Yoshi has never been around cats. He does not guard his resources and he has never bitten a person or other animal. He is housetrained and has a very high energy level. Yoshi isn't bothered when someone touches his food nor pushes him off furniture. He also isn't bother when someone tries to restrain him or disturbs him when he's sleeping. Yoshi isn't bothered when nails are trimmed. When someone takes bone or raw-hides or treat away he tends to growl. For a New Family to Know: Yoshi is described to be a playful. His energy level is very high. He lays around and enjoys belly rubs daily. Yoshi loves to fetch and wrestling. He is described to be house-trained and uses the bathroom on grass areas. He sleeps in cages and pulls lightly. When off leash he stays close by. SHELTER ASSESSMENT – DATE OF ASSESSMENT, 8/8/2018 Summary:: In the assessment room, Yoshi maintained distance from the assessor. He eventually approached and sniffed the assessor. When the assessor attempted to touch him, he panicked and fled. Out of concern for his stress levels, he is not a good candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Please see his owner surrender not for information on his behavior in his previous home. PLAYGROUP NOTES – DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Summary (1):: 8/7: When introduced off leas to the female greeter dog, Yoshi engages in bouncy, running play, at times mouthing at play. ENERGY LEVEL:: Yoshi is described as having a very high level of activity. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner. Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to how uncomfortable Yoshi is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Place with a New Hope partner: At the care center, Yoshi panics when touched and avoids handling. For this reason, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful. Potential challenges comments:: Handling/touch sensitivity: Yoshi has been noted to be uncomfortable with handling. It is important to always go slow and give Yoshi the option to walk away from any social interaction. Yoshi should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Yoshi’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Yoshi may do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. Fearful: Yoshi is very fearful at the care center. It is important to move slowly with Yoshi, to build positive associations (treats/toys/praise), and to allow Yoshi to initiate interactions with new people. He should never be forced to greet or to interact if he is not comfortable and soliciting attention. MEDICAL EXAM NOTES 9/08/2018 DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Reported 1 year and 4 months - exam is consistent with this Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned negative History : Surrendered. No health concerns reported. Subjective: Alert, walks well on leash Observed Behavior - Tense, stares and doesn't break eye contact. Allows exam but sits down and scoots away from touch to hind end.
