also planning on getting her little boy a personalized jellycat (undecided between bear or bunny) with his name too which is probably the easiest gift outside of diapers and baby wipes (which i know they'll need)

hey Sarah!! first of all i just want to say how glad i am that i follow you, swiftie tumblr can get very echo chamber and you definitely have a way of mixing it up lol.

My feelings on TTPD are... complicated, so it's nixe to have a perspective in my life that's not "oh my god put this in the louvre" or "taylor swift is an evil awful demon lady" because that black & white is very much what i'm stuck with IRL and online.

When it comes to the album itself I personally do like it, and a lot of that has to do with me thinking of it more like folklore/evermore. It's like that fiction writing with the more raw, uncut, messy feelings of something like Speak Now. I don't read these songs as being about her life in her traditional diary kind of way, but i totally get why people do and why that would sour it for them. I am also a fan of the sonic choices but again... i get not being lol.

Where I started having eeeehhhh feelings about TTPD was with the Fortnight video, which you've spoken about. Complicated feelings for me. I like some of the visual choices like the office thing and the outdoors and the black and white but the mental hospital thing just was weird. Especially the ect which at this point you've gone into at length and I agree with you on it being bad. For me it (an asylum) doesn't even really make sense as a visual choice for the song or the album. I love Florence + The Machine, I love Dance Fever and I love How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and I was excited that TTPD gave me the vibes of Taylor dabbling with that. And then instead she did the hospital thing. Not what I want to be the remembered visual piece of this era but I guess that's what she's going with :/

Which then brings us to the TTPD set on the eras tour which is the most I've been in agreement with you about the ick factor. I give Taylor a lot of grace, and I have over the years. Something about my being a young woman who has made bad choices which can be partially attributed to having grown up in a weird mix of both sheltered and traumatized just makes me feel for her on that level. But the asylum thing on stage is just a bad choice.

waolom is a song i like despite it's use of asylum as a metaphor for fame, not because of it. would've much rather seen that and icdiwabh have circus vibes. we know girlie loves a golden cage. fortnite should just bring that florence welch dancing around in a pretty dress energy that the folklore & evermore sets were giving, full stop. bdilh is a song i like as a kind of different take on love story and i wish she would've rolled with that and given it comedic fantasy vibes. (personally i'd love to see a full commitment to 80's princess bride esque cheesy-ness. i like taylor the most when she just leans into being cringe melodramatically) And frankly? I wish that'd been the whole TTPD set. I don't like the smallest man or so high school as songs, they're the weakest on the who double album for me along with thank you aimee. They don't need to be preformed on that giant ass stage at the expense of some actually solid pieces from other eras.

I really really think that if absolutely nothing else, bare minimum, that bed stage piece & the nurse outfits need to go. Are they going to? probably not. Unfortunately she's 'just like me fr' in having to learn her lessons the hard way, so i'm sure she'll play it up and put it on merch or whatever then look back in a year or more like yikes! Which is disappointing.

I don't know this kinda just turned into ranting because I feel like you're a person who will understand and respect my perspective enough to not belittle me for having complicated, confused feelings. So thanks for that, and even when I don't totally agree with your opinions please know there's one swiftie out there who understands and respects them enough to not pick anon fights over it.

aw thank you! yeah i completely get everything you said here. the whole mental hospital, asylum, etc stuff is just.... unnecessary and completely avoidable, there's no ties to it in the album and makes no sense to include it with such heavy-handedness. her continuing the whole circus theme throughout the entire ttpd era on tour would've been a great idea actually and would've really sealed the whole overdramatic, satire thing she's trying to go for (which is another reason the mental health aesthetic isn't working, you cant mix something serious with satire/overdramatic ideas it just wont work). it would've been really interesting to have the entire thing be a cohesive circus theme instead of just one/two songs.

And also... I was in the crowd on Nov 12th. I'm the "eldest" swiftie I know, so everyone I talked to (I'm talking about friends/acquaintances) and gave my opinion on the Nov 10th theory wasn't really happy with what I had to say, but I never believed she would announce it that day. Everyone really hoped she would (even really "new" fans)

The feeling I got from that is that we just want to be a part of things. We wanna be a part of the rerecording history. She's touring latam for the first time, and chances are she won't come back (for reasons I can describe if needed). She'll do Mexico again, but it's unlikely she'll do Argentina/Brazil again. And we all know that. We just want announcement like the US got (twice), and like Asia will probably get and Europe too.

I understand the whole conversation about demanding too much too often from her. I really do and I think it's a very valid point and something to be discussed. I miss when there were less of us and more interested in her actual music. But please understand we don't mean harm. We never got tour dates before this, we don't get merch (shipping is crazy expensive and they let you buy one of each only so you can't even pool in money with friends to share shipping costs), and we just wanna feel like we're part of her story too.

I know you haven't said anything but I needed to put this opinion out there and maybe someone will read it and understand what's going on.

i do understand all of this, i really do, and im going to try phrasing this in a way so i don’t come off rude.

i understand that you want to be apart of re-recording history but i still think latam is apart of it (correct me if i’m wrong). but you guys got to be there when 1989TV dropped and also so many other fun moments (like chiefs on the screen). and i can’t speak on taylor returning to latam because i’m not from there and don’t want to step over the line (and i don’t think it has anything to do with the whole T4F fiasco since that was the stadiums fault and taylor wouldn’t blame brazil on that). but a majority of the people i’m seeing turn out the theories are swifties from the states who are counting her steps in the reputation set and using math to prove reputation is next. if she did announce reputation tonight i’d 100% eat my words and be excited about it as i love reputation. but i still think at the end of the day it’s an INSANE thing to ask of taylor to announce another album. we ready got two this year, one last year, a whole concert movie, and so much more. and even before midnights i saw people complaining that we hadn’t gotten any new taylor announcements and how was anyone supposed to go on if we didn’t get one (when we had gotten two surprise albums not even a year ago).

again i get what you’re saying and do not want to come off as rude or mean in anyway. being a city that she announced something that big at is a thing to remember, but i don’t think it’s right to ask her to keep announcing and releasing stuff just to make a moment and be remembered. she’s literally just a person at the end of the day and she’s still doing everything to make this a memorable concert experience for everyone there. just because latam may not get a re-recording announcement doesn’t mean it’s not anyway less apart of the history of the re-recordings like any other place.

What are the best books you've read this year?

Ahhh Jane Austen <3 Actually Persuasion is not one of my favourites, but I've only read it once and kind of forgotten it. Is it your favourite, and what do you like best about it? My absolute favourite is Emma, I think it's perfect; Emma and Knightley are just my favourite ship dynamic ever. Pride and Prejudice is probably my next favourite.

I think it's really exciting that Taylor can branch out into a different art form because she's an amazing creator. And I feel like there's the potential for people who think she's a shallow writer to see that's not the case. So I would love to see a film directed by her, but I also have fears that it might disappoint me, if she doesn't have the freedom to make something particularly unique or personal. It's interesting what you say about dialogue; I hadn't focused much on it but now I realise that's not at all the kind of writing we're used to getting from Taylor. I know she'll be great at the imagery, as she is in music videos and song lyrics.

Ooh, I've been in a reading slump since like October, so these are mainly books I read earlier in the year, but I really liked The Other Valley, The Three Body Problem, Annie Bot, and Kindred! Did you have any favorites this year?

Persuasion is my favorite, I just think it's such a beautiful story!!! Like they messed up, but they went their own ways and fate brought them back together???? me and who????

I do also love Emma, though. I think Emma is such an interesting character, because she does so many messed up things, but she does them all out of loneliness, which doesn't excuse her behavior but does make it more sympathetic to me, I think? I'm with you about her and Knightley--the glove scene in the 2020 Emma adaptation had me going CRAZY

I guess we'll see what happens with the movie, I have truly no idea what kind of story she'll tell. But that's part of the joy!
