I'm only about a quarter of the way through A Bachelor's Comedy, but it's already proving worthwhile just for the running joke where a misunderstanding has caused the village to think their new young vicar has a cartoonishly humongous appetite, but no one tells him about it, so he has no clue why everyone is giving him enormous servings of food.
#a bachelor's comedy by j.e. buckrose#it's a very fun book#i love its flavor of comedy#but for some reason i can only read it a few pages at a time so it's slow going#i have a feeling it's a book that will be better on reread#i'll have all the names straight and my imagination will fill in the lack of description#so i'll be better able to sink in and enjoy the ride#the main character is a delightful boy#and i like how it (so far) manages to be a comedy about a clergyman without making fun of religion#he's a sweet boy who's trying his best and just has to deal with the silly foibles of daily life#so much of this is so relatable even a century later and an ocean away
