I've been playing ffxv now that I finished ffviii and it's better in some ways and not as good in others? like every time I have to fight I have no fucking clue what I'm doing, I just hold down B and eventually things die I guess. I can kinda warp strike but god help me if I have to do a point warp because I can't figure out how to get there (I am pressing Y while it's on the screen, and Noctis just goes and warps some other place instead). I much prefer the turn-based fighting where I have time to think about what I'm doing.
Also, it's so fucking dark??? I had to return to camp instead of catching more frogs because it started raining and it was so dark I literally couldn't see anything on the screen even though it was mid-afternoon. Any time night falls I'm completely blind, even with the brightness turned up all the way. And the text on the screen is TINY somehow. I'm playing this on a big screen tv and yet I can't see half the text and there's no way to make it bigger.
OKAY ranting aside, I do love Noctis more than anything still!! Of course he's going to drop everything to go find a can of wax and catch some frogs. He is a Good Boy through and through. I like having voice acting and characters whose faces I can actually see. I like that I can change their clothes!
I still haven't gotten very far in ffvii which I'm also playing but that's because I'm using a steam deck docked to my tv and for whatever stupid reason the controller doesn't work with that game so I have to undock to play it. (Also I dislike that I can't turn off random encounters and I can't run away from fights, and as we've established, I hate fighting.)
#lita plays final fantasy#i downloaded ffix also so we'll do that in a bit#that was the first ff game i ever played!#it was the summer after my freshman year of college#and i had an extremely vivid dream involving a tree and a haunting melody where the dream was like a cut scene#just a specific camera angle cutting up toward the top of the tree while the wind whooshed and made the leaves shake#and the haunting melody played#lita talks about herself
