What you think about shanks doing poison pranks? Is he abnormal? What is the meaning of that? Idont get Oda at all
It’s not a prank — it’s honestly a smart, calculated move to truly ensure that he has Luffy’s loyalty. He needs to know that their trust is unquestionable, going into this war. If Shanks asks something of Luffy, he wants to know that Luffy will trust his judgment enough to follow through, even if it sounds crazy (hence him lying about poison of all things).
To me, this move makes it seem that A.) Shanks is really getting serious, and B.) he will likely ask something crazy of Luffy in the future.

Well, the ship looks like Elbaf-made (and now that we know how connected to the giants Shanks and his crew are, I think it really IS). And we now know that the giants are really pro-Nika, like that’s THEIR deity (if I remember correctly). So it is also possible that it’s part of their aesthetics and Shanks decided to leave it to not offend them and/or blend in.
Personally tho I HATE the evil!Shanks theory. I love Shanks and turn into putty when reading those parental!Shanks-Luffy fics T.T (also, I’ve always admired his non-confrontational/pacifist ideals).
But that smile in that episode looked somewhere between sleazy and unhinged to me. Idk if it was the animation style, but I think I got similar vibes from the manga too. Idk. But his expression when Kid was attacking and killing his subordinates felt genuine? So maybe he just doesn’t like how handsy they were being. REALLY don’t know. The scene made me smile tho, because this man is so loved! And his subordinates have zero fear. And unlike the other Emperors, he doesn’t do the whole tribute thing at all. There’s also the fact that he seems to be the only pirate that is hella respected on BOTH sides of the law.
Sorry for the rant. I reallly love Shanks :3 (AHHHH I don’t want him to be evil either ;-;)
hmmm... i wouldn't say the Red Force is Elbaf-made... it might look like it at first since it's one of the most realistic-looking ships in One Piece with quite a simple figurehead and Elbaf giants also use realistic-looking Viking longships with a simple figurehead and you could say the swirl markings and their placement on the Red Force are similar to the swirl markings on the ship Dorry and Broggy took to Egghead but that's just that, they are similar, not the same. the ship types are also different. Elbaf giants use longships while the Red Force is a galleon (or looks like it, i'm not an expert and One Piece ships aren't exactly realistic). also, Red Hai Pirates had a similar looking ship but smaller, less detailed and without the sun symbol (a barque, i'd say) but with a very similar figurehead in ch 1 which was before they even went to the New World. and last but not least, none of the Elbaf ships seen so far have the sun symbol on them. so i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the Red Force was built by the Elbaf giants. i'm not ruling the idea out, it's just there is no airtight evidence to prove it to be correct.
about Shanks' smile ep 1112, i never thought of it as sleazy? more like a combination of mischievous amusement, fluster and drunkenness. those expressions are also anime only and i only accept the manga as canon. and those are these in ch 1079:
Tumblr media
you can't really blame him for not being completely happy about being suddenly jumped on
after that he jokes about how his fleet is notoriously weak (btw the fact that his fleet is notoriously week yet still surviving in the New World is a testament to how strong Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates are that they can afford to take weaklings under their wings and yet no one dares to mess with them) etc. but we can't see his expression.
he is mostly calm/neutral discussing Kid and Blackbeard with his crew. but then he gets the vision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he instantly switches to serious and stressed (you can see him sweating). Shanks just had a vision of those he swore to protect being torn apart in his name and we know how he feels about ppl hurting his friends since ch 1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
no mercy
Tumblr media
so yeah, i do believe he genuinely cares about his people and the care is obviously mutual (it warms my heart :D)

party games they’d play as an excuse to kiss you
Tumblr media
ft. luffy, zoro, nami, ace, law, shanks
a/n: MY MUM SAW ME WRITING THIS HHHAHAHHAHAUAHAHAHAHAHAHH IT WAS SO FUNNY 💀💀💀💀💀 yeah um so idk what this is but it was actually really fun to think about lmfaoooooo
Tumblr media
luffy - kissing tag - pretty self explanatory game, it’s tag, but to get the other person in you have to kiss them. imma be real here, he didn’t actually play this game as an excuse to kiss you. he just heard the word ‘tag’ and was like “hell yeah!!!! TAG IS SO FUN!” but then he saw people kissing one another and then something just clicked “WAIT I WANT TO TAG Y/N!!” so then he asks to be in next and immediately chases you down smiling and laughing as you run away laughing just as much as he is then he grabs you, wrapping his arms around you, smiling as bright as the sun as places a quick kiss on your lips “HAHA YOU’RE IN NOW!”
zoro - seven minutes in heaven - a classic party game so im not gonna explain the rules of it. he’d play this game for a few reasons. firstly, he loves how jealous it makes sanji seeing the two of you locked away in a closet! zoro is such a little shit. but the biggest thing is that it’s private!!!! it’s just you and him. no one else is peeping or interrupting the two of you and that fact alone makes him a lot more comfortable (he’s not one for intimacy or PDA in front of others).
nami - spin the bottle - another classic game, not gonna explain the rules to this one either. i think nami really enjoys the thrill of this particular game. going into it she knows there’s not a 100% chance that she’ll get to kiss you, but that makes it all the more exciting!! her heart is racing as the bottle she just spun slows down. and the second it stops on you, her breath hitches. it’s the moment she’s been waiting for. she smirks at you as you both lean across the circle, your lips meeting in the very centre.
ace - guess who - a simple game where one person is blindfolded and has to try and guess the person who is kissing them. he sees you being chosen to be blindfolded first and he absolutely cannot help himself so he pushes ahead to be the first one to kiss you in the game. he finds something so attractive about you being blindfolded n having to guess it’s him. it’s a challenge and he goes all out feeling ridiculously proud when he pulls away and you breathlessly say his name.
law - truth or dare - very straightforward game, petty classic so im not gonna explain the rules lmao. i thought this would be the most fitting for law but im not entirely sure why????? i don’t particularly believe he’d voluntarily play (he’s not really a party games type of guy) so, when his crew sees you happily participating in this game, they come up with a ‘genius’ idea. they don’t even give law the option of choosing truth, instead saying “we dare you to kiss y/n.” he goes to scold them, until he sees you blushing slightly and avoiding his gaze, so he mumbles a “fine then” trying to ignore his rapidly increasing heartbeat as he leans in to kiss you.
shanks - pass the card - bunch of people are in a circle and have to pass a card around the circle by sucking it so it holds to their lips and then passing it to the next persons lips. shanks loves this game, he switches spots with person who would be passing the card to you, so he can be the one to pass it instead. being the cheeky mf that he is, as soon as he gets the card he’s turning to pass it to your lips but just before you reach him he drops the card (intentionally of course) so he can kiss you properly, chuckling a little into the kiss as he hears the complaints around him “you did that on purpose!” “C’mon man!!!” he can’t help but give you a little wink and a fake apology after “im so sorry about that, the card just slipped.” you just playfully roll your eyes in response.

One Piece Theories: Blackbeard Giving Shanks His Scars
                                                                    - Blackbeard Theories, Part 2
Tumblr media
The scar in question, looks like three scratch marks swiped across Shank’s left eye.
Establishing a Timeline / The First Meeting
The timeline has confirmed that the two first met during the fight between the Roger and Whitebeard pirates in 1498. At the time, Shanks was 12/13 and Teach was 13/14. As seen in the picture below (Ch. 966), Shanks was envious of Teach’s apparent inability to sleep. However, it was never shown that they ever fought each other during this time.
Tumblr media
Shanks later tells Whitebeard that Teach gave him scar. We know from the flashback at Roger’s execution that he had yet to receive the scar. However, he already had it when he met Luffy. Therefore, he obtained his scar somewhere between when Roger got executed (in 1500, when he was 15) and the first time he met Luffy (in 1512, when he was 26/27). So, there is roughly a 12-year range where that could have occurred.
Shanks Opinions
What is interesting, is Shanks’ opinion of Teach himself. The Red-Haired Pirate is someone shrouded in his own sense of secrecy. Oda created a character that is essential to the story, has existed since the very beginning, and yet we know basically nothing about. What we do know, is that Shanks appears to be a good judge of character, similar to Luffy in that sense. So, his opinions of people should have some weight. When he visits Whitebeard, in Episode 316, he says,
“The one who gave me this, was one of yours… Blackbeard, Teach! It’s not like I was being careless. Do you know what I mean? Whitebeard.”
                                                                                                       - Shanks
Another one of the small tidbits we know regarding Shanks, is that he is strong. Sure, we aren’t exactly sure how strong – because, as I said, Oda likes to keep him shrouded in mystery – but considering the amount of respect he receives and his title as one of the 4 Yonko, we know he’s a powerful opponent. So, hearing him say this can be a bit disconcerting. Now, I mentioned before that there is a 12-year gap between 1500 and 1512 when this fight could have occurred. I bring this up because when this happened is very important in sizing up Teach’s power. It is safe to say that beating Shanks at 15 would be much easier than beating him when he is 26. I say this, so you will keep in mind that Shank’s statement above isn’t necessarily an indication of Teach’s power, nor was it necessarily supposed to be. What it is, is a warning of Teach’s character. A warning given a mere 9 episodes before Teach’s confrontation with Ace where details regarding his past actions are explored and basically confirms all of Shanks’ conjecture. Shanks continues,
“He was quietly waiting for a chance. He didn’t take the title of commander to be renowned. But to conceal himself. Up until now he remained hidden under the shadow of the name “Whitebeard”. And in order to gain power, he made his move. In the end, he aims to get to the top, with his own will. He might even come to steal your title.”
                                                                                                     - Shanks
He's saying that Teach stayed below the radar on purpose. He continues by implying that this is due to wanting whatever notoriety that would eventually become attached to Teach’s name to be a result of his own doing (or “own will”), and not because of being associated with Whitebeard. Shanks also correctly assumed that all of Teach’s moves had been in order to gain power.
The Reason
This leads to the question: Why did he attack Shanks?
For starters, I think it’s safe to say that Teach doesn’t make a move that hasn’t been thought through and calculated. That has been proven a hundred times over.  If it’s true, as I suspect, that Teach will only make a move if he believes that it will afford him more power, then what led to this confrontation with Shanks? What did Teach believe he would gain from beating Shanks?
Moreover, I think it’s interesting that Shanks never thought to mention this to Whitebeard until now or that Teach hadn’t.  I guess you could argue that Shanks saw no reason to until it became clear that Teach was not only capable of this type of betrayal but was starting to make moves. You could also argue that Teach hadn’t said anything because he didn’t want to arouse suspicion. However, something still doesn’t feel right to me about this whole situation. I’m finding it difficult to put into words why, but I’ll do my best.
If Teach attacked Shanks in the hopes of gaining more power then he very clearly either (1) got it or (2) didn’t. I think it’s important to point out that many things can give a person power over others. I truly believe that there is a high chance whatever Teach was after during the confrontation, was knowledge. I think he believed Shanks knew something he wanted and went after him for it. If that’s the truth, then there is no way Shanks didn’t know what he was looking for. For the simple reason that: You can’t get an answer out of someone without first asking the question.
Given what we know about Teach, I think there’s a likely chance that it had to do with either: The Yami Yami no Mi, the true power hidden on Mary Geoise, the One Piece, or Rocks D Xebec.
What bothers me is that, either Teach got ‘it’ or he didn’t. There’s no in between. If Teach didn’t gain what he hoped to from the fight, then I can see why Shanks made no moves against him afterwards. It would also make sense why he was so insistent with Whitebeard later on (considering he knew the type of things Teach was interested in based on what he wanted from him). But if he did get what he came for, then I feel like Shanks would be much more concerned earlier on and wouldn’t have waited until the last possible moment to say something.
This would also explain his trip to Mary Geoise. Many people believe that the pirate that Shanks wants to speak to the Gorosei about is Blackbeard.
In conclusion: It is my belief that Teach went to Shanks for answers on one of the ‘taboo subjects’ of the world. The scar most likely occurred either before he  asked his question in a surprise attack or following Shanks refusal to answer. While Shanks learned the type of man Teach was during that fight, he saw no reason to be concerned at that moment. At that point, Teach was just a curious sneaky (possible) commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. I don’t think Teach’s curiosity triggered red flags until he killed Thatch, ate the Yami Yami no Mi and began to make moves. Finally, Shanks begins to get concerned now that the once curious man is making his grab for power, knowing that whatever information Teach wanted, he now has a better chance at gaining. So, he goes to Whitebeard and pleads with him to call back Ace, possibly with the knowledge that whatever Teach wants endgame, he needs someone Ace to achieve. Now that Teach has amassed all this power, I believe Shanks is legitimately concerned about what Teach will do and went to the Gorosei to discuss the possibilities.

I read your story Tapetum Lucidum and I got shook from it!! like damn I wish it was true! tell more about any headcanon you got?? also hello nice to meet you
hello, nice to meet you too! Im glad you liked it!!! So for headcanons I have these ones right here, that I posted earlier, but because I am always ready to scream about creepy devil fruit users!!!! here’s some more
With Tapetum Ludcidum, chopper’s bounty is a bit higher initially - 500 instead of 50. Why?
Tumblr media
This image looks at you and beats you up with its hooves thats why this is fcking terrifying.
Actually no that should be canon Choppers a deer in canon @ Oda why did you not take this opportunity.
- Garp comes back from Marine business post Shanks visit and finds his grandson can stretch and can have glow in the dark eyes. He can’t decide what he feels but if Luffy turns around one more time with those god damn eyes Garp is going to scream.
- Buggy  doesn’t know about it at first - as far as I know, he is the only one aboard Roger’s crew that has a devil fruit - so picture this: You are Shanks, and you are going to shake your fellow apprentice up from a nap. Its dim in the cabin, and when he wakes up the light flashes in his eyes. You are now vaguely sure that your cabinmate is a demon and start screaming. Chaos ensues. Years later, some kid accidentally eats a devil fruit under your watch, and later that night a bar maid is screaming into a pillow in order not to wake the kid she believes is demonically possessed before her. You are shanks and you are very sure you might have signed your death warrant.
- Tho!! Going off of this, the lore behind the name “Devil Fruit” might stem from tapetum lucidum rather than the current  explanation. Thats pretty cool.
I mentioned this before but Brook does have the eyes except they just look like flashing orbs and its 100% more terrifying
Boa Hancock and her sisters have a lot of potential with the Tapetum Lucidum
The whole gorgon myth is upped to 11 with the eyes
“The Sisters became blessed with the Gorgon’s power!
“Did you see how their eyes shined in the dark?
“Perhaps the one on their back shines ever more brightly- the sisters are so wonderful for keeping it hidden!”
And throw luffy into the mix who has it
“Perhaps he has been cursed by the gorgons as well?”
“That must be why The Empress allows him to be here!”
And off Kuja Island it can grow to - “the empress’s eyes flash when she is displeased with you!”
Of course, its a myth as like, actual science behind tapetum lucidum doesn’t work like that but - rumors are cool.
Kuja corrected to Kuma when I typed this so anyway - Kuma’s eyes don’t do the thing after his … agreement with the WG.
All of Perona’s ghosts have it!! Super cool! Super Terrifying!
Wanted posters are a pain, because depending on the pirate they will either 1) want the scary eyes to show how fearsome the pirate is and warn marines do not go fcking near this person you will absolutely PERISH or 2) want the non scary eyes so that there is less fear among the public - no, this pirates normal, the marines can handle it!
However, thats more common in the Grand Line where Devil Fruits are more common.
Therefore - the East Blue doesn’t have that technology yet, or have the need for it, since it is the “weakest sea” and devil fruits aren’t common. So Luffy’s wanted poster, with his eyes open and with the smile, has the eyes and every marine privately goes wtf.
When coby first talked with Luffy down in the storage of that cruise ship, Luffy turned around and with the dim light his eyes flashed and BAM Coby is scared for life rip its okay, we all know you still love him.
Crocodile with this… In impel down Luffy looks to the right and sees two orbs emerging from the dark… he doesn’t give a shit but all the non-df users down there? Terrified.
OH! MR 2 !!! BON CLAY!!! You can tell its him because his eyes still flash when he has a different face on - very convienent.
Doffy whips off his glasses for one second but the only thing any one can see is the shine off of them and its more menacing than the glasses.
The eye -flash test in universe could actually be a very good way to see if someone’s a devil fruit user or not actually. Huh. World building!
When Luffy does the pull on his hat and obscures his eyes, but then you see the edges of one… but shiny… heck yeah…
KAIDOU
GIANT DRAGON WITH SHINY EYES!!!! TERRIFYING!!!!
Also to think about: hordy fighting Luffy under the seas but his eyes flash. Cool.
Im gonna end this here, because this is getting long and it won’t let me format posts well on asks so!! Hope you enjoy!!
For everyone else, here is the original tapetum lucidum Drabble ft. eldritch prankster Robin and Zoro going wtf at his new captain!

619: "Running Wild! Invincible General Franky!"
Tumblr media
Pirate King, eh?
You know what? I’m almost apprehensive to leave Punk Hazard behind.
It was such a fun arc and ticked lots of my personal boxes (Caesar is absolutely awful and a treasure of a villain, I have decided). This apprehension is only because I don’t know what’s coming next. Judging by the plot threads Oda has set up so far, it’s fingers crossed I’ll enjoy Dressrosa as much as Punk Hazard.
This episode seemed to be split in two: the fond farewell to the arc and looking forward to the next. In one particular scene, both merged very effectively.
And Now, We Wait.
Tumblr media
The Strawhats waiting for Usopp, Chopper and Brook was definitely a tying up of loose ends. The final piece of the puzzle of Punk Hazard is complete. Now, they only need to escape.
I love this shot. While the others were clambering onto Law’s truck, desperate to escape the lab caving in about them, Luffy and the other Strawhats calmly sat facing the door, unwilling to give up hope until all hope was lost. Because Luffy waited, they all stood by him and did the same. ;_;
The Strawhats definitely have Usopp to thank for guiding Chopper and Brook to safety. “50 meters to go! The Gate is closing. Slide in!” The gas really was gaining at that point but Brook kept everyone’s spirits up. “It’s only over when you give up.”
Chopper, Mocha and the G5 guys burst through first, followed by a very narrow scrape through by Brook and (frozen) Kinemon! Luffy was relieved. You could see the sweat beads on his forehead. But he never gave up hope and his faith in his crew paid off. (But it always helps to have someone like Usopp around, so credit where it is due.)
Another clue that the Strawhats might actually capture Caesar is that Usopp retrieved the cuffs from the Minions. They were so grateful for what Usopp had done for them that they fought to hand over their cuffs.
The only slightly bad thing was that Brook accidentally let slip that Kinemon had been caught by the gas right in front of his kid.
Don’t think Momonosuke will be happy his dad is dead.
Is he dead, though? The other minions and G5 guys were left behind but why would Brook bother to bring Kinemon, if he couldn’t be revived? Unless it’ll be an honourable samurai funeral situation... ;_;
Actual Knife Energy
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, outside at the Sunny, the Mega Mecha Air Battle between Franky and the Baby 5/Buffalo team was definitely looking to the future (specifically, the future battles and rivalries between Doflamingo and the Strawhat pirates).
As Baby 5 and Buffalo retreated from Franky’s firestorm of laser bullets, they hovered at a safe distance and had a “wtf is that?” moment. An old kung-fu movie style sequence of increasing close ups followed (I laughed). Then, without warning, Franky unleashed a General Left.
Baby 5 and Buffalo were sent reeling again. It was interesting they recognised Franky’s “pacifista” weapons straight away, and that they briefly considered Franky was one of Caesar’s inventions before realising Caesar has no interest in “human” weapons. I guess Caesar’s more a biochem kind of guy.
Well, whatever Franky was, Baby 5 said, if it wanted a fight...
She fired a ton of bullets in Franky’s general direction and thought she’d got him until the smoke cleared and a flash of glowing yellow cyborg eyes said, “Nope. Not even close.”
Then Franky injected a bit of humour into the firefight. Dat General Shield that was way too small. Dat Boomerang! xD
His dumb delaying tactics annoyed Baby 5 into changing form. Now, I am guessing Baby 5 and Buffalo have eaten those types of fruits that let you transform into objects (kind of the opposite of Funkfreed). Would those be Zoan fruits, or something else?
At any rate, their teamwork is pretty good. Buffalo knows how to support Baby 5 and set up her attacks. She transformed into a blade first (Espada Girl), then a missile (Missile Girl). It’s just a shame theyre up against Franky because he is armed to the teeth. Literally. Like, I would not be surprised if Franky has weaponised his teeth.
What probably threw Baby 5 and Buffalo was when they accused Franky of not letting them recover Caesar. Buffalo reminded Baby 5 that Doflamingo said “immediately” regarding Caesar’s recovery. (That itself is interesting. It shows Doflamingo’s orders are not to be defied.) Baby 5 transformed into a missile and yelled, “We’ll take Caesar with us!” and Franky was like, “Wtf are you talking about Caesar?”
I had an “uh oh” moment. Franky just wants to defend Sunny. Baby 5 and Buffalo want to recover Caesar. There is a tiny danger that all three will have a chat and agree to let everyone get what they want with no further conflict. Then Caesar will have escaped. Franky knows what Caesar did to the Strawhats, so I don’t think it’ll happen. But there is always a chance!
And speaking of Caesar...
The Centre of Alllllll the Trouble
Tumblr media
I wonder if this guy knows just how much trouble he’s caused? I wonder if he knows his knowledge alone can turn the OPverse upside down? That Doflamingo sent two members of his team to retrieve him and was willing to sacrifice Monet and Vergo to do so makes it blindingly obvious.
Considering how egotistical Caesar is, he probably knows fine well and absolutely loves it.
Well, I say that. As of 619, he has no idea Doflamingo has sent anyone to rescue him. He’s currently flat out and convinced he’s going to die.
But, Caesar cannot stop being Caesar. He felt about in his coat pockets, found Smoker’s heart in a box and decided to enact some scorched earth, nuclear revenge. I mean, if he’s gonna die, right?
The scary thing about Caesar is the sheer glee he feels whenever he does something awful. “I’ll take Smoker to hell with me!” he whispered. “It’s a shame I can’t watch him die. He’ll open his eyes, vomit blood and suffocate in no time. I’m excited just imagining it!”
Okay, Caesar. You do you.
He’s also the kind of guy who keeps shanks on his person. Holding it above the heart, he grinned and said, “It’ll cause fear and panic in all those he’s with.”
That’s Caesar in a nutshell. He develops biochem weapons. He’s a serial killer. He loves causing fear and panic. Punk Hazard really was a paradise for him and he manipulated everyone else around him into believing it too.
I don’t think Smoker will die. Mostly because Law is around and he might be able to fix any heart-stabbin’ antics with his Room Plus Medical Powers.
Still, I wonder what will be next for Caesar? If he goes back to Doflamingo, it’ll be business as usual, I guess. If Luffy and Law succeed... what the hell will they do with him? Luffy hates him. Will Law take him on?
I have no idea. It could go any way, really. I suppose it depends on how devoted Caesar is to Doflamingo. Whether Caesar is willing to go down with Doflamingo (I’m assuming this’ll happen because Doflamingo is a villain and Whole Cake Island comes after Dressrosa.)
RIP, Monet and Vergo
Tumblr media
This sequence of scenes was very cool. Lots of beautiful art too.  The most interesting thing here was Monet and Vergo’s devotion to Doflamingo. That they were willing to die to help accomplish his goals. Doflamingo must either have some hellish power, hellish charisma or a hellish combination of both.
The action briefly cut to Dressrosa, where Doflamingo was taking a call from Monet. He couldn’t believe she was alive. (Neither could I. How she recovered from being halved is still a mystery.) She told him Vergo had been beaten. Caesar too. Doflamingo said not to worry. Baby 5 and Buffalo had been sent to retrieve Caesar.
Notice the lack of “and also retrieve you and Vergo.” Monet did notice... and she was fine with it.
“Oh, that’s good to hear,” she said.
Doflamingo apologised. “It’s all because of my misjudgement. I feel bad for you all but I want to make sure to wipe out all those squirts now.”
Translated: I feel bad that you and Vergo are gonna die but I need this thing done.
He wanted Monet to push Caesar’s Big Red Button, the Big Damned Bomb that was also responsible for leveling Punk Hazard. “With just the push of a button, there will be only one survivor on that island and that is Caesar.”
Jeez. That’s harsh. He just straight up told her.
“You don’t have to say anything, Joker,” Monet answered. “I was just going to do that, anyway. I’m right in front of the triggering device. The explosion will ruin the tanker. You’re gonna lose a tanker. Is that okay?”
“I need you to perish along with everything else.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
What the actual? Monet, this is your LIFE and you are worried about this guy’s TANKER? Doflamingo has crazy control over these people. The scariest thing is that it is not just fear. These people admire him as much as the Strawhats admire Luffy.
And the weirdest thing? Doflamingo seems to want to claim the Pirate King title.
That’s only Monet’s word, but why would she lie about something like that?
I always thought Doflamingo was dismissive about all the Old/New Era stuff. Now I’m wondering what his deal is.
Doflamingo at least had the grace to call Vergo for one last chat. Vergo was still in bits strung along the railing (it’s kinda gruesome, when you think about it.) He apologised to Vergo, said he had known him for the longest time and thanked him for all his work. Vergo smiled (in fractions). Like Monet, he was totally fine about dying, as long as Doflamingo said the right words.
Then, just before the island went KABOOM, Toei inserted a quick series of flashbacks. The G5 guys who sacrificed themselves with the thumbs up, the kids, the minions, Vergo, Monet, all the Strawhats, Law, Smoker, Tashigi, even Doflamingo perched on his window seat in Dressrosa pinching the bridge of his nose like, “Gawd this was a disaster...”
Now I think about it, it really was. Punk Hazard was a proper death-fest. Caesar gleefully murdered minions left, right and centre, he experimented on kids and nuked an entire island. Doflamingo is asking people to die for him. G5s sacrificed themselves. Though no one on the level of Whitebeard and Ace died, a lot of people bit the big one on Punk Hazard and it was worse in a way because at least in Marineford, they were all fighting for something. In Punk Hazard, people just died because Caesar/Doflamingo’s business.
Everyone’s fighting to survive right now.
Except Luffy. He’s riding a truck through a rapidly collapsing tunnel.
That’s his idea of a great day out.
Tumblr media
Bye, Punk Hazard! It’s been an absolute pleasure.

Recently I was watching one of Tekking's (a very prominent One Piece youtuber) videos in regards to what Oda said about Wano. When it was brought up that a new legendary character would be revealed who was somehow related to Whitebeard, and even though Blackbeard would not be this person, I couldn't stop thinking about what will happen in Wano, and if Blackbeard will go there.Blackbeard is related to Whitebeard in many obvious ways, having been on his crew and literally having his devil fruit power. Oda often hints at how much Luffy and Blackbeard have in common, and how much they differ, but what's very important to Luffy is to defeat all the Yonko. How important this is to Blackbeard is uncertain, he could desire this, but he could also want to wait for somebody else to take them out for him. Regardless I believe he will appear in the Wano arc. Just because a new character will appear, doesn't mean Blackbeard will not also appear, I doubt one character appearing could be enough to make wano "better" than Marineford. One thing Oda stated about Wano which I believe to be overlooked and incredibly important, is how it has no ties to the world government. What's so special about this? Well it would mean that if there was a war between major Pirate powers here, the government would likely have no knowledge of it, and have no way of interfering or coming in and defeating the victor of the war while they're weak. This leads me to believe that this would be the perfect place for a way between Yonko. But what does Blackbeard have to gain from going to war with Kaidou? To preface, I think it's fair to think that Kaidou has some sort of devil fruit ability. I doubt he would want all of his crew to have artificial devil fruits without having a devil fruit himself. That being said, it is most likely looking at his design and his crew mates he has a Zoan devil fruit of some form.I personally believe Blackbeard has the ability to consume one of each type of devil fruit, Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan, and the only one he doesn't have to our knowledge, is a Zoan type devil fruit, and what better devil fruit to have than the devil fruit of two Yonko, White Beard, and Kaidou.I believe this defeat would have even bigger implications than is imagined as well. If blackbeard defeats Kaidou, and seemingly Big Mom's crew will be quite weakened from this WCI arc. Then blackbeard aside from Shanks who seems to lay dormant anyway, would be the sole Yonko in power. (It's also possible Shanks tries to stop Blackbeard, and is defeated in the process. I do like the idea that Luffy will return the straw hat to Shanks' grave) This would cause Whitebeard's wishes to come to fruition, that through his death Blackbeard creates a new era of pirates, not one of the Yonko, not one of Pirates, on of Blackbeard. What's also interesting to keep in mind, is if Blackbeard defeats Kaidou and takes his Road Ponoglyph, then in addition to the missing Ponoglyph he could have, he would have 2 Ponoglyphs, mirroring the Straw Hat pirates, and making a fight between them even more inevitable to get to Raftel. If the strawhats do lose to the Blackbeard pirates in this arc, I think it sets up perfectly a final arc of sorts in one piece as well. With it being Blackbeard as a sole world power, the World Government will also gain a lot of power. Luffy has already defeated Doflamingo, virtually destroying the Black market, so without the black market, The Yonko, and the Shichibukai, how do Pirates hold any power over the world government. This world has very scary implications, one where it is the world government and blackbeard who hold virtually all the power. This period of extreme control makes sense as a way to raise the stakes on the outcome of Luffy's victory, as this removal of freedom is the one thing Luffy cannot stand for. Of course there are a few other characters who would remain in power, that being the 11 supernovas.Luffy is already slowly befriending all of the 11 supernovas, and I don't think this is a coincidence either, and I think if this goes through there's a perfect setting for a finale between Blackbeard, the 11 supernovas/the strawhats, and the World government. Also just think how intense a finale between Luffy and Blackbeard would be if Blackbeard defeated Kaidou, Whitebeard, and possibly Shanks, requiring Luffy to take down the man who has taken away the freedom every Pirate felt with the Yonko in existence.I think this set up would be incredibly awesome and I'd love to hear what you guys think! If you agree or disagree, like some parts dislike other parts, I just honestly think something of this scale is going to be required for Wano to be "better than marineford" (Oda having stated this himself) and I think it would be a great setup going into the last few arcs of One piece. I think speculating is pretty fun so I'd love to hear what you guys think via /r/OnePiece

Angst Alphabet - Shanks
Tumblr media
a/n: hiii! Thank y’all for requesting! To the second anon, I went with Shanks (I hope that’s ok!!!) 💗💗💗
LOLOL THIS MY HUSBANDDDDD 💍😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A-Accident (would they blame themselves if you died in an accident?)
It would depend on how much he felt he could have prevented it. However, Shanks understands all to well just how cruel the world can be. He can’t constantly be in control of everything, so although it would be devastating, he would have to realize that this is reality.
B-Break up (How would they break up with you?)
Shanks would use the excuse that he is a Yonko. He’s no good for you, and you deserve so much better than an infamous pirate who only brings danger. While these are just excuses - ways to make breaking up with you easier - he really would be speaking from the heart. Shanks has always felt this way but never voiced it, but now it’s finally time to let you go.
C-Crying (how would they make you cry?)
He leaves for long periods of time and refuses to you along. You know he’s only doing it for your safety, but it hurts that he doesn’t think you’re strong or responsible enough to join his crew on their voyages (note: he doesn’t actually think you’re not strong or responsible – his pirate life is just extremely dangerous, even as a yonko).
D-Death (how would they react to your death?)
He’s seen and experienced a lot of death in his life so he’d be a able to cope with it a little better than others would. Even so, your death would still be heart-breaking (he would mourn privately though). Now, if he literally saw you get killed in front of him then RIP to the person who killed you because they will be the one/s to die next.
E-Emotion (what is one emotion they would try to hide the most and how would they do it?)
Shanks is quite an open book. If he’s angry everyone knows. If he’s happy everyone knows (etc.). But, if I really had to pick one… I suppose it would be sadness or grief. He feels obligated to put on a front for his crew (although they can see right through it). He tends to let out his sadness and grief when he’s alone.
F-Fight (do you two ever fight? How big are the fights? What do you fight about? Etc.)
He tends to crack jokes before your fights can escalate into anything too serious. Sometimes it’s intentional, but other times it’s just his personality shining through. And rather than serious fights there’s just a lot of teasing and taunts between the two of you.
If you were to have a serious fight, it would be about both of your safety (As would most fights with any of the One Piece characters).
G-Guilt (what is the biggest thing they feel guilty about?)
More often than not, Shanks finds himself able let go of a LOT of shit. But the one thing he can’t seem to stop feeling guilty about is his failure to show up to Marineford on time. He knows he’s not directly responsible for Ace’s death, but that doesn’t stop the overwhelming guilt. If only he had gotten there a few minutes earlier.
H-Heartbreak (what would cause them pain in the relationship? How would they deal during a break-up?)
Coming back to you after each voyage is something he always looks forward to. However, that happiness is short-lived when he realizes he has to leave again in a few weeks. It’s always so painful having to say goodbye again.
I don’t think he would be too different during a break-up. Perhaps he may crack a few less jokes, but other than that, his personality and demeanour when around others remains the same. It isn’t until he’s alone that he lets his smile fall.
I-Injured (how would they react if you are badly injured?)
Undoubtedly, he’d be concerned, but he knows you’ll pull through (you have to pull through). So, after that initial concern has passed, he’ll be feeling all types of pissed off. Whoever, or whatever, injured you will pay – and honestly, he may not even deal the perpetrator himself (his crew is already on it - you are like family to them).
J-Jealousy (what do they do if they are jealous?)
I honestly think Shanks is just the type of person to just tell you if he’s jealous. But he wouldn’t say “uhh I’m feeling a little jealous” or anything along those lines – no. Instead, Shanks puts on a little pout and does a massive fake sigh until you finally ask him what’s wrong. That’s when he hits you with the “I guess my attention just isn’t enough for you”, and you’re like “HUH?? MF WHAT?” He’s literally such a child HAHA.
But, if there’s one particular person he really does not like you being around and they won’t leave you alone, then he is not at all opposed to just shoving his tongue down your throat right in front of them. That’ll definitely get the message across.
K-Kill (would they kill for revenge?)
Shanks may be a goofy and laid-back individual, but he will resort to violence if the situation calls for it. So, it is very likely that Shanks would kill for revenge. Maybe he wouldn’t necessarily do it himself. But, if he orders it, it’ll definitely happen.
L-Loss (what is their greatest loss?)
Gol D. Roger’s death was probably one of the greatest losses in Shanks’ life. Roger is the reason Shanks is a pirate today, and young shanks was absolutely broken by his death.
(hard to write much for this one seeing as shanks’ character is still quite a mystery to us!)
M-Mistake (what is the worst mistake they ever made with you?)
One time he completely forgot a date night that you spent SO LONG planning. It wasn’t just any date night either. It was a date you planned on his final night before him and his crew had to leave again for a while. You spent hours waiting for to show up, but he was nowhere to be seen. Finally, he showed up at your place, breath reeking of booze. You just looked at him and it hit him (he was like “OH SHIT”). He started apologizing profusely. He didn’t try to make any excuses, he completely owned up to being a shitty boyfriend. But, the moment he knew he had well and truly fucked up was when you just nodded and waved good night to him, wishing him safe travels – you didn’t cry, get visibly angry you just left alone. Shanks knew that was far worse than any yelling.
N-Nightmares (how often do they have them? What are they about? How do they deal with it?)
I literally am not joking when I say this but I think Shanks practically drinks till he passes out so even if he were to get nightmares he wouldn’t wake up LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO (ok maybe I am joking with this one but also kind of not).
In all seriousness though, I don’t think Shanks has nightmares very frequently. It’s gotten to the point where any fear or things of that matter that could be nightmares for him, have become so common in his life that he almost finds it not frightening to think about.
O-Outrage (how and why would they get mad at you?)
He would get mad at you for placing yourself in unnecessary danger. He’d call you stupid and irresponsible, even though he doesn’t really mean any of those things – it’s just the image of him potentially losing you forever is replaying in his mind and it absolutely terrifies him.
P-Past (what has happened in your relationship that changed the way you saw each other?)
You saw him get serious serious once before. Like the kind of serious where he uses his conquerors haki and everything. It definitely caused a bit of a change in your relationship as it was terrifying to witness. You’ve always known Shanks was strong and intimidating when needed, but that moment really showed you what it meant when people called him an “emperor of the sea”.
Q-Quality (what is their most dangerous/toxic quality?)
Not wanting to openly express his sadness and grief in front of others can be a very unhealthy quality. Shanks doesn’t allow himself good enough opportunities to express him emotions in a safe and healthy manner.
R-Rejection (how would they react to you rejecting their confession (or the other way around))
(First of all WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO REJECT SHANKS ANYWAY LIKE HUBBA HUBBA I LOVE HIM ANYWHOOOOOOOOO…..) Shanks is the type to just shrug it off. He’d be a little disappointed, bc c’mon the hottest most amazing person he’s ever known just turned him down! But he knows not everything in life goes how you want it to. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and this just happens to be one of the things he’s lost. So ultimately, he’ll just shrug it off. (he will definitely get teased by his crew though).
S-Scars (battle or self-inflicted)
Shanks has no self-inflicted wounds. But he does have a scar across his left eye given to him by Blackbeard. He also has a missing arm which he (heroically) sacrificed as he saved lil Luffys life (does a missing arm even count as a scar?)
T-Trust (have they ever broken your trust?)
He’s never given you any reason to not trust him. He’s always open and honest with you. Well, as honest as he can be without placing you in any danger. Trust was something needed from the get-go of your relationship because he would be gone for long periods of time. The two of you wouldn’t be able to last without trust.
Oh, also if shanks ever did do anything to break your trust you best believe his crew will beat his ass (especially Benn). You’re family to them.
U-Urge (how badly do they want to see you after you guys separated?)
My god does he want to see you. He would give his other arm just to be right by your side in an instant. He’s gone for weeks, sometimes months, at a time. Shanks loves his crew, they’re a lively bunch and he trusts them with his life, and vice versa. But they’re not you. They don’t provide him with that same feeling of home that you do. Sure, this could be fixed if he let you join the crew on their journeys, but he absolutely cannot place you in that kind of danger. You’re already in enough danger as it is simply being in a relationship with him.
V-Vicious (what do they do when they lash out on you?)
Rather than lashing out at you, Shanks tends to give you the silent treatment. He looks at you without a word and just turns away. He does this in an attempt to make you feel guilty and as if everything is your fault.
W-Weak (what makes them feel weak how do they try to avoid it?)
There isn’t much that makes Shanks feel weak. But, being unable to be near his s/o is one of the few things that does make him feel weak. It’s a constant struggle between wanting to have them around him constantly, but also not wanting to place them in any danger. Ultimately, he decides that not placing them in danger is the better choice, despite how much it pains him.
X-X-ray (what do they hate and show it most obviously?)
Shanks can handle being picked on and ridiculed himself, but he will not tolerate that sort of behaviour towards his friends. The second someone goes after a friend (or someone else he cares about) they are done for.
Y-Yearn (what is one thing that they want but can’t have?)
LMFAOOOOOO WHY DID MY BRAIN AUTOMATICALLY THINK “his arm back” OOP-
I’M SORRY BUT I LITERALLY CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN HIS ARM HAHAHAHAHAH
Z-Zero (what do they do/say in your dying moments?)
He’d try to crack a few jokes to at least help you feel better. Other than that, he just tries to make the most of your final moments together.

One Piece Theories: Blackbeard’s End Goal
                                                                     - Blackbeard Theories, Part 5
Tumblr media
Blackbeard’s End Goal
So, what is Teach’s end goal? He says it’s the One Piece and to become King of the Pirates, but is that true? While he has bartered and killed to get to where he is now, Fleet Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates, some things just don’t add up. The title ‘King of the Pirates’, seems to have emerged with Roger successfully circumventing the globe and “conquering the grandline”. There is no evidence – or at least none at this time – that suggests anyone else possessed that title before Roger. It is also my understanding that the established way to become King of the Pirates, at this time, is to find the One Piece (and, in turn, Laugh Tale). Yet, we’ve never seen Teach actually do anything to even come close to that. It is always possible that he’s hunting down the Road Poneglyphs from the shadows, but considering they’re in the hands of the other Yonko, I highly doubt that. It is also possible that he’s waiting for Luffy to do all the hard work and for him to swoop in (which does sound like him). With that being said, something has always bothered me about Teach’s declaration. We’ve established that by the age of 12 he already had some type of plot brewing, part of which included obtaining the Yami Yami no Mi. My question is, what was his original goal? What did he originally need the Yami Yami no Mi to accomplish? It sure as heck wasn’t to find the One Piece, because Roger wasn’t executed until 4 years after Teach joined Whitebeard.
This has always been about Power for Teach. Always. Joining Whitebeard, scarring Shanks, killing Thatch, giving Ace to the Government. His actions have led me to believe that whatever he’s currently after, is not the One Piece. Or at least, not completely.
The easiest way to discover what he is after is to look at what his most recent moves are.
What is He Currently Doing?
During the timeskip, The Blackbeard Pirates began the mission of hunting down powerful Devil Fruit users in order to absorb their abilities. This is touched on during Dressrosa when Burgess was competing for the Mera Mera no Mi.
These actions are completely in character with Teach’s mentality. He wants to be the most powerful person, which means he should have the most powerful crew. However, we have yet to see any of the Devil Fruit the Blackbeard pirates have supposedly stolen.
Afterwards, during the Zou Arc, Burgess was able to stow away on Sabo’s ship back to Baltigo [The Revolutionary Headquarters]. Burgess then called his fellow fleet captains Laffitte and Shiryu to attack the island. During Wholecake Island Arc, we discover that Blackbeard attacked the base and destroyed Baltigo in the process. They fled after briefly clashing with Cipher Pol.
Am I supposed to believe that Teach’s sole for seemingly destroying the Revolutionary Army’s base was to retrieve Burgess? That makes absolutely no sense. Either there was something else of value that the Revolutionary Army had that enticed Teach to destroy their base or they weren’t responsible for the damage at all.
[There’s more on this in a different theory of mine]
Finally, after the Reverie, when the news of Sabo’s supposed ‘death’ gets released, Teach says this,
“Hey, you lot!! We’re setting out!! Instead of letting it land in the hand of the Marines… I’d much rather take it for myself!!”
                                                                                            - Blackbeard
There is no indication to what he is talking about. Though, there are a few thoughts:
· The Mera Mera no Mi (since apparently Sabo is ‘dead’)
· Something one of the 7 Warlords have
· Something at the Reverie (Like the ‘Treasure’)
· Doflamingo
He’s been working towards something his whole life. Something happened between the time he was born and when he met Whitebeard. Something that premeditated this whole crazy plan of his. He knows way more than he’s sharing.
I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that Oda said that if Teach wasn’t a pirate, he would be an archeologist (SBS Vol. 88, p.78). He is definitely a part of the bigger mysteries in one piece.
