continued, finally:
Per: "We complement each other well, let's put it like that! His strengths are my weaknesses and his weaknesses are my strengths." Chris: "I could not have put it any better!" Per: (laughs) Chris: "No, but anyway, I've liked Per since way before-" Per: "Since when?" Chris: "Well, at the latest 2014, you were really nice to me, a bit like a… well, father-figure would be too-" Per: "A brother?" Chris: "Yes. A big-" Per: "A big brother." Chris: "Not just a tall but also a big brother."
Man: "Straight ahead!" Per: "Yes, okay." Man: "We drive down to the street, then walk…" Jochen Breyer: "It's getting better and better!" Chris: "We always travel by/arrive on foot here at ZDF."
Chris: "Despite not always sharing the same opinion it's a great relationship/cooperation anyway. We've fought a few battles, even last night, and it's just really great fun - I'm always really looking forward to-" Per: "Sometimes the cooperation is tested, isn't it?" Chris: "Well we solved an escape room in record time, I got goosebumps I'm telling you!" Per: (guffaws) "Goosebumps!" Chris: "I seriously got goosebumps."
Chris: "We're about to enter the stadium, stand by the edge of the pitch, we'll take you along on the way, I'll just quickly nip in to make-up (holding up that little jar) and do my hair."
Chris: "My friends this is just super, centre line, properly geil (how to translate "geil"?)
Chris: "Hey do you think I can buy a jersey somewhere around here?" Per: "I thought you were rooting for Man City?" Chris: "Inter." Per: "Oh no, right, you're an Inter fan, aren't you?" Chris: "I am an Inter fan but I do think Man City will win." Per: (laughs.) "Oh look, let's sneak down there." Chris: "I swapped two jersey that are sooo great ("geil" again), Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, I should have worn - well brought along one of them… oh well."
Bad singing from both of them. Chris: "And then they get faster and faster" More bad singing.
Chris: "So Jochen's on air right now, he's probably previewing/introducing us, then there'll be the 7pm heute news ("heute" = today, is the name of the ZDF news programme every day at 7pm) and then we're off!"
Commentator Claudia Neumann: "and then from behind, Rodri with the 1-0! Dimarco…. oh! Second attempt! The (offside) flag stays down. Brozovic, Gosens and Lukaku! And now it' over! Done and over. Manchester City win the Champions League title"
JBreyer: "I don't want to rub your face in it, but I think your prediction was 4-0? Per what had you said?" Per: "1-1." JBreyer: "1-1." Chris: "Well, I think you could expect that from Per Mertesacker, with his 104 caps and all his expertise, that he'd get one right for once!"
(singing) "Big fucking German, you are the Big Fucking German… Chris: "So, that's enough for now." Per: "It's enough? hdgdl! (Text speak: "hab dich ganz doll lieb!" = I love you lots!)" Chris: (to the camera) "So! Good night. We're done." Per: "Finally!" Chris: "It's really time to go to bed now, it's gotten very late. You know what time it is?"
Chris: "If you liked it then subscribe to the channel (I'm not sure there's a way to subscribe, or any channel at all), if you want to know more about Manchester click to the right (points to the left), have fun!"
i’m trying to see if i can get a copy of chrikra singing the big fucking german that i can post on here I LOVE IT

NCSN: Senior Center or Youth Movement
Tumblr media
So you all know my love for a good youth movement and also my disdain for signing old guys on a free to long term deals. Loved our old friend Galliani but he really went off the deep end and taught us all a lesson towards the end of his tenure. No more older people making the big bucks!
So the other day I was down one of my regular rabbit holes and noticed just how much in wages Juve owed to players 29 and older OR to players after they turned 29. I knew they were drinking the Galliani sauce but didn’t know just how much. It was a LOT. So of course that got me interested in how much Milan owed players in the same lot. I came up with the following:
Juve owes 146.4 million in total to be paid to players after they turn 29.
Milan only owed 41.6.
That is a LOT of money promised to guys after they turn 30 for Juve. That includes a whopping 24 million owed to both Bonucci over the next 2 seasons. It also includes huge wages to Cuadrado, Sandro, Danilo and some others. Meanwhile Milan’s biggest commitment is to Florenzi which is 16 million over 3 years. Not great by any means. Beyond him it’s small expiring salaries to the likes of Zlatan, Mirante, Kjaer and some others.
That got me curious to where everyone else in the league stands in this department. Here goes! Each team followed by money promised to guys 29 and older along with a short breakdown.
JUV 146.4 million Too many guys promised way too much money into old age. They can afford it though.
INT 110 The whopper here is Brozovic, 4 more years at 11 per. A guy whose legs aren’t what they used to be. Also one who they should probably consider selling before Skriniar. Other than him it’s a lot of 1 year deals to older players. By next summer they will be in a much better position.
LAZ 96.5 Ciro (who knew he was already 32?) and Vecino the leaders here. One makes sense... the other not so much.
ROM 45.5 Seems like a fair bit but their 5 oldest players are all in the last years of their deals. Another youth driven window next year and they are one of the youngest teams in the league.
MIL 41.6 Florenzi is still owed 15 but other than that 4 old guys (Zlatan, Giroud, Tata, Mirante) all in the last years of their deals account for most of the rest.
NAP 33 Trimmed a TON of future wages but not re-signing the likes of Insigne, Mertens and Koulibaly which would have all been huge mistakes. Most of this figure via Rui and Demme. Didn’t realize Di Lorenzo is already 28.
SAM 33 In my previous column I wondered what Samp was gonna do with the money they made from selling Thorsby and Damsgaard. Turns out they owe some silly wages to the likes of Conti, Torragrossa and Gabbiadini. And those guys are all signed for 3+ years. Oof!
ATA 31.5 Expect this number to go down. Freuler and Malinovsky are already gone and I bet 1 or 2 more are gone before the window closes. Might have to eat a couple bad ones but imagine they have made enough money from CL and sales in the last few years to handle it. Like Napoli were in desperate need of a refresh and now are moving full speed ahead.
TOR 21.2 Started a bit of an overhaul in January and only have Zaza and a few others still lingering. have a staggering amount of younger guys, including Singo, that are in the last year of their deals. Would be wise to sell a bunch of them on or lock them in long term. Either way the Juric project is in full swing.
BOL 19 Other than Arnautovic no big wage earners holding them back. And even he is still effective enough to be worth it.
FIO 13.5 Have done a great job of locking down young players to4 and 5 year deals. If they work out they could be set for a while.
SAS 12.4 Back end is full of old people on large wages and none of them are very good. Been perhaps too aggressive selling on the likes of Raspadori and Scamacca. Also not sure Berardi is the guy I’d be handing a 5 year deal to. Then again they manage to survive so who am I to judge?
MON 11.5 This is Berlu and Galliani we are talking about. It’s no wonder they’ve brought in some old heads to make a splash and stay in Serie A.
HEL 9.5 Not really over 30 but a LOT of guys in the 27-29 range on 2 and 3 year deals. Clearly sticking with the vets to stay up. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
UDI 5.7 Everyone over 30 expiring. Got Beto locked into a 4 year deal at peanuts. It ain’t pretty but Udinese perseveres.
SAL 5.5 Did a great job of surviving while not selling out to vets. Still set up well with some youth and now some money in the bank if they need to make moves.
CRE 5.4 Only 6 guys on the whole team who are signed after this year. Relegated.
SPE 4.9 Second youngest team in the league last year according to my true age metric and sticking with the plan. Doubled down by bringing in Dragowski (24) after moving on Provedel. Their starting day lineup averaged just 25  A long term approach that has served them well so far and might keep them viable for years to come.
SIDEBAR: I noticed while looking at Spezia that they have an amazing amount of young players on long term deals. They in fact have 20 players 25 and under that are on multi year deals. Surely that felt like a really high number. Come to find out that is the highest number in the league. Atalanta are right behind at 19 while Roma and Milan both boast 18. A club that reformed in 2008 in Serie D and made it back into Serie just 11 years later, they clearly have a plan and follow it. Now 3 years into it’s Serie A run it will be interesting to see where their project goes from here. Keep an eye on them. They aren’t gonna win a title any time soon but they certainly aren’t afraid to follow a plan, that’s for sure.
EMP 3.5 Sold some youth and are relying on some age and some loanees to stay up another year. Worry it could go south quick but being limited by aging wages won’t be an issue.
LEC .45 Only 1 guy over 30 on the team and have 11 players under 25 locked into multi year deals. If Falcone can stand on his head all year and keep them up they might just survive. If not they are set to come straight back up.
That’s all i have on that topic. Hope you enjoyed the read.
Big game coming up Sunday against Atalanta. One of only 2 games between teams that won week 1.
FORZA MILAN!

Conte: ‘Inter have an idea’
Antonio Conte expects “much more” from Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, but is pleased Inter have “an idea of football in possession and out of it.”
The Nerazzurri dominated the Derby della Madonnina, hitting the woodwork three times and forcing some heroic Gianluigi Donnarumma saves, while Marcelo Brozovic’s deflected shot and a Romelu Lukaku header sealed the 2-0 scoreline.
It means Inter remain clear at the top of the table and maintain their 100 per cent record after four Serie A rounds.
“Let’s start by saying it’s a derby and those are always special games, never easy to predict, especially when both teams are so prestigious as Inter and Milan,” Conte told DAZN.
“The lads played a good game in every aspect. We were coming off a performance in the Champions League that left a bitter taste in the mouth and perhaps that fired us up even more to go into the derby in the right way.
“It’s a deserved victory, I am happy for our fans, because the derby is always the derby.”
Lukaku scored his third goal in four Serie A games and praised Conte in his post-match interview, but the Coach expects more.
“He can give much more, certainly. I told him that too. He is 26 years old and arrived here thanks to his potential. If we work with him properly, he can become extremely important.
“Lautaro Martinez is only 22 years old, so we need to help mould and improve these players with daily work. That’s my job and the important thing is that they are ready to work with me to improve themselves, which they are.
“I am happy with our Serie A start, less so in the Champions League, but I do also believe that setback can help bring us back on to the right path.”
There was also reportedly a disagreement at half-time in that Slavia Prague draw between Brozovic and Lukaku, who were both on target tonight.
“Brozo and Lukaku are lovely lads and if anything, I get cross with them because they are too nice. They need to be more clinical on the field and not so naïve. If clashes happen, that’s welcome, because it means there’s blood in the veins and fire in there.
“I’ve been a player, I’ve argued with teammates many times and then gone out to dinner with them afterwards. It’s not a big deal.”
Inter seemed to be at a much more advanced stage of planning compared to Milan and Conte explained why.
“We’ve worked hard over the last two months. Inevitably, there were a few difficulties, as some players arrived late and left late, but we have an idea of football when on the ball and when we don’t have possession. We have an idea as a team.
“As I say, a commander can have his plans, but he needs the foot soldiers to go out and execute the orders, so I am fortunate to have very good and disciplined players.”

Gun-slinging, goal-grabbing forward Krzysztof Piatek has AC Milan in buoyant mood
Frankly, too many recent Milanese derbies are commonplace.
Two frumpy teams with only local pride to fight for. Even the old rule about & # 39; two bald men fighting for a comb & # 39; was out of place. The care tool at stake missed half of his teeth.
But the collision of Sunday evening is different.
Milan & # 39; s state of mind is a clear contrast from last year. Gonzalo Higuain was struggling with a small reward. It was boring food.
The team of Gennaro Gattuso suffered the humiliation of the elimination from their Europa League group, then failed to score in four consecutive games in the Serie A, three times 0-0 and lost at home to Fiorentina.
Gattuso, known as Ringhio (& # 39; growling & # 39;), was closely followed when the seven-time European champion slipped to sixth place. Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini even criticized the tactics of & # 39; Ringhio & # 39 ;.
But that seems like a life now, thanks to a new arrival. Polish center chairman Krzysztof Piatek joined Milan at the end of January for £ 30 million.
A large number of strikers have found the red and black shirt too heavy in recent years, including Fernando Torres and Higuain. There was curiosity to see if Piatek was a flash in the pan. However, the 23-year-old has been a revelation.
[Milaan]
]
Piatek, whose name translates to & # 39; Christopher Friday & # 39; has grabbed seven goals in nine appearances for Milan. The fans are already fond of him, it is a case of & # 39; Friday, I & # 39; m in Love & # 39; as someone ever sang.
Piatek lives for goals. As Gattuso noted: & # 39; he is just like RoboCop. He doesn't say much, he just wants to score goals and conquer the world & # 39 ;.
He is the man that managers, directors and supporters dream of, professional and hungry. There is no diva-like behavior.
The comparisons with another are from Eastern Europe, the Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko, have been constant. Ultra-serious Sheva was not a muscle-bound bruiser, but she was strong and durable. Piatek is the same.
& # 39; Sheva & # 39; regularly hit the goal in the derby, and many Inter fans are deeply concerned that this could be a case of deja-vu.
The precise pole is also reminiscent of Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
There is no superfluous flamboyance in its finish, it is usually low and in the corner. The former Krakow player can also score from scratch, which is a blessing, because even the greatest cheerleaders in Milan admit that there is not much creativity in their game.
Just when you thought he could not have called on supporters anymore, there is his celebration. After throwing the ball into the net, he fires two imaginary pistols, the left arm under the right.
The move has gone to calcium folklore, copied by young and old. Although it is not as easy as it seems. & # 39; You never cross your arms & # 39 ;, I explained in a Polish TV interview.
However, it is misleading to apply all the credit for the Rossoneri Renaissance to their gunfighter.

Another winter report (19459002)
from, the Brazilian Lucas Paqueta, has added the unpredictability and samba flair of left-midfield.
And a & # 39; young-old boy & # 39; has also been influential in a turn that led the side to third place a few weeks ago. Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered the first crisis of his short career last year after his public contract with the club spit out.
Its form popped up and the teenage phenomenon was anything but certain. But since 2018/19 has progressed, the gigantic stop has been fantastic and has only been awarded four league goals in ten games since Boxing Day.
The supporting cast is also a number of Captain Alessio Romagnoli in central defense, Mercury winger Suso and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
A hero in Monaco, but a mystery in Chelsea, & # 39; Baka & # 39; apparently has received special instructions from Gattuso in training.
Fans were skeptical, but now appreciate the Frenchman for his energy and his desire to break opposition attacks.
After a winter of dissatisfaction, a top four victory and victory in the Coppa Italia (they are in the semi-final) is the target. That would be a performance by Gattuso. They have won five league games in a row and have been unbeaten since December 22. The Derby cannot start soon enough.
Inter are in less cheerful minds. A lot of negative results and the continuing uncertainty about the future of striker and former captain Mauro Icardi have taken their toll.
Icardi was stripped of the captain after his wife and agent, Wanda.
Every Nerazzurri fan will tell you that they often start the new year with a difficult period, but this was particularly uncomfortable. Nara, made embarrassing comments about her husband's teammates live on Mediaset program Tiki Taka.
Icardi was stripped of the captain after his wife Wanda made derogatory remarks about his Inter-teammates
Matched parties Inter wins Milan wins 76
had been absent due to a knee problem. His friend and fellow countryman Lautaro & # 39; The Bull & # 39; Martinez has been kicked in and did well by scoring some fantastic goals.
But the doubt about the return of Icardi is worrying. He is a proven goal scorer and often does business in the derby, including a hat trick last season and a last minute winner earlier this campaign.
It is in everyone's interest to get him fit and reintegrate into the team as quickly as possible.
The date of his comeback is unknown, but Inter needs him and he needs them.
Icardi has an external opportunity to be in the selection for the derby, although if he cannot recover, Martinez will be back to the team's spearhead after missing the euro exit due to suspension
The good news is that metronomic Croatian dusk Marcelo Brozovic should be fit enough to get started.
Interbaas Luciano Spalletti is under pressure, but a victory against the city's rivals can partially correct the setbacks of recent months and start a spring solution.
Milan fans hope that their new shooter can imitate Sheva & # 39; s habit of torturing the neighbors. They would like the & # 39; Friday Feeling & # 39; to experience.

Spalletti: I am in favour of VAR, but Inter’s second half performance is more important.
After Inter took all three points in the final minute against Sampdoria, Nerazzurri coach Luciano Spalletti was happy with the determination his team displayed.
After having two goals disallowed after VAR review, it looked like Inter were only going to earn a point, but Marcelo Brozovic bagged a 94th minute winner for the away side.
“The most important thing is that the team played brilliantly in the second half,” Spalletti told the press. “Every time we got the ball back, we were convincing and deservedly won the match.
“Sampdoria could also have won as they were always attacking as well. Both teams played well, and were always looking to win. It was a very emotional game.
“We are happy to have taken all three points. It was a game played on the edge, with nothing between the teams.”
With VAR creating more controversy with three goals ruled out – two for Inter and one for Samp – Spalletti does think its inclusion is a positive for the game.
“I am in favour of VAR,” he went on. “The other day I said it was a penalty [Dimarco’s handball against Parma which wasn’t given] and this time I think they did well to disallow the goals.
“My job is to get the team up to speed like in the second half. If we have the same attitude we did then, a decision for or against us will not determine the final result.
“It is a sign that the team played with a lot of determination all the way to the end of the game. They did things well, and took to the pitch with a will to win the game.
“We need to take points against teams that play great football like Sampdoria.”
At the end of the game, after Inter took the lead, Spalletti was sent to the stands by the referee, a decision he doesn’t agree with.
“The expulsion was wrong,” Spalletti said. “I was celebrating and said ‘goal’, and that’s it.”

Conte: ‘Inter must become dynamite’
Antonio Conte called Romelu Lukaku a “gentle giant” and set Inter’s Scudetto ambitions going after a 4-0 win over Lecce. “We mustn’t be a spark, we have to become dynamite.”
Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi, Lukaku and Antonio Candreva scored in the dominant opening Serie A match at San Siro.
“We started with the right intensity and respected the idea of football that I wanted. However, I did not appreciate at all the minutes after we went 2-0 up and I told the lads that. I wanted us to immediately get back on it and not be distracted or think it was over,” the Coach told DAZN.
“Having said that, yes, it was a good performance and you can see the ideas there. It’s an excellent result, because Lecce are a good team and there is always the risk of stumbling in these fixtures. We didn’t want that risk for us or our fans.
“We have some more steps to take, such as improving the mental consistency and focus, but I am very satisfied and it is a pleasure to work with these lads.
“Sensi and Brozovic are very versatile players who have a lot of quality on the ball. They would struggle in a two-man midfield, but with three they do very well. The same goes for Nicolò Barella and Roberto Gagliardini, as we have players that allow us to change line-up without losing the shape or idea of the team.
“This version of 3-5-2 is certainly a more attacking evolution of the old 4-2-4. I think that I have the men suited to this type of system and midfielders ready to push forward.”
Lukaku made the ideal debut after his hard-fought move from Manchester United, as he found the back of the net and played 90 minutes.
“Lukaku stepped into the Inter world in the best possible way, with great humility. He is a gentle giant, always has a smile on his face. He’s ready to work for the team and at the disposal of his teammates.
“I also want to highlight that Lautaro Martinez also played very well and everyone deserves praise today. It was only the first game, so we can celebrate until midnight, but from 00.01 we have to start thinking about the next match with Cagliari.”
Conte was asked if this game can be the spark that starts Inter’s season on right track.
“We mustn’t be a spark, we have to become dynamite. So let’s fire it up, keep going and working harder than ever.”
