Dragon Age: The Veilguard mage armour sets, ranked
I've managed to compile the starter and aspirational armour sets for each class, starting with mage. Mage definitely has the least consistent looks across all the factions - the ones I like, I really like, the ones I do not like, I REALLY do not like.
As we like to credit, these screenshots are also courtesy of @kalaelizabeth's character creator deep dive video.
Unranked - Starting armour
Tumblr media
The starting armour sets appear to be the same for all factions and only differ slightly by class. It's not the worst starting armour Dragon Age has ever had (I really hate the one you get in Inquisition that makes it look like the Herald doesn't have a neck), but it's not the best either. There are definitely story reasons for why it looks the way it does, but as I'm keeping this spoiler-free that's all I'm going to say on the matter.
6. Mourn Watch
Tumblr media
Unfortunately Mourn Watch comes in last again, and y'all, I absolutely HATE this. I know what people who want to play Mourn Watch are looking for, and "Victorian mortician at the end of a long shift" is NOT it. The worst part is, I think there is probably something not as bad under there, and I have no idea why on earth they decided to cover it up with a dirty, dingy sheet. I hate this so much I am never going to play this faction and class.
5. Grey Wardens
Tumblr media
Snooze, boring! Past Dragon Ages have had better Warden sets, imo. (I'm thinking 2 and Inquisition here).
4. Veil Jumpers
Tumblr media
I actually don't hate this, and Veil Jumper is pretty consistent across all the classes in terms of having a defined look, but it's still too much brown. How nice would a little pop of green look here? It needs SOMETHING.
3. Shadow Dragons
Tumblr media
I'll be honest - the top three are really tied here. I think they're all really great and establish a defined aesthetic for the faction, class, and are visually interesting. I love the pattern here, and I think these shades of red and blue are unexpected but look great together. And it's just the right level of flash for a Tevinter mage.
2. Antivan Crows
Tumblr media
It's sleek, it's chic, it's deadly. Exactly what I want for an Antivan Crow. I LOVE the feathers and how they have a slight iridescence. It also does what I wish the casual look did and has silver detailing instead of gold. Gold should belong to Lords of Fortune ONLY.
Lords of Fortune
Tumblr media
I expect this look will be EXTREMELY divisive among fans, but personally I think "mage who loves gold and the beach" is an incredible concept for the class. I could even stand MORE stacked bracelets. More is more!
You can also find posts about the casual looks here. Rogue and warrior will be coming out over the weekend!

I took notes while playing and I've tried to edit them into something that makes a shred of sense.
Things I like in Veilguard:
Banter can be interrupted, and they'll continue talking. If you repeatedly interrupt, they'll start over from the beginning later on.
The banter also actually made me laugh, especially with certain companion combos. Not always but more often than not.
The companions aren't stuck in their room. You know when someone wants to talk to you or has a cutscene, but you'll also see them hanging out with other companions or just checking out places around the Lighthouse. Makes them feel like actual people with their own stuff going on outside of Rook. But I do wish you could talk to them more. I like bothering my companions. I'm fine with them repeating themselves. Just let me smooch my love interest or chat with my friends and get random flavour text. Is that so much to ask?
I like the orb and smashing enemies in the face with it. I actually prefer it most of the time to using the staff.
Can wear casual clothes instead of armour with no repercussions. Finally, some cute outfits. But not cute enough. Need more. I also miss dying outfits in different colours and dressing up my team.
It's not my fav but it's fine:
I miss being able to smooch my love interest whenever I wanted to. Let me bother everyone more. The romances are fine but I expected more in comparison to previous games.
Everyone hangs out with each other or all together (eat together, bookclub etc) but is Rook even involved? The camping trip scene was so weird. Ferelden is overrun. Where are you going? Why would these two even want to? I could maybe believe Taash being interested because they're adventurous and might be hoping to see a dragon, but even then it's so weird.
Semi related to Taash's personal storyline, I did not appreciate having words put in my Rook's mouth re: her feelings about her gender and I have seen others saying that when they play as an enby Rook it's very "third gender" rather than having any sort of nuance. This is why I'm always hesitant when companies are so proud of being inclusive, it's often so clumsy.
References:
Mage/Templar war was in the South but no one mentions really mentions much about the South. Varric?? Morrigan?? Inquisitor?? There are some letters and a few lines about what's happening but not much. Who got to be Divine, again more of a Southern issue but you think it would come up when talking to Harding or Varric. Drinking from the Well of Sorrrows. Morrigan's son. King Alistair or Grey Warden. Hawke in the Fade. Varric, my man, are we not friends? Harding, you were there even if you were just a scout! Surely you got the hot goss hanging around outside the tavern at all hours.
Surely even people in Tevinter would be talking about how the Inquisitor's old spymaster became the Divine?? Harding sort of mentions it but no one else. The Inquisitor coming along to be like "oh it's a shitshow in the South right now that's why I'm not helping you or trying to find Solas" is so stupid.
The references you do get are fine but some feel strange because they're specific enough for a fan to get them but vague enough to feel pointless because they abandoned the Keep and tracking everyone's choices. I know it's complicated because we've all played the games in a variety of ways but they started it!
I wish we had seen more of the countries. I liked the places we saw and I really enjoyed exploring them, I would have liked to see more though which is a good thing in a way? I wasn't bored by the places we got, more than they were intriguing and I wished to go further. I would have liked to see more of Minrathos outside of Dock Town, for example.
Cameos:
Re: cameos. Dorian's model looks like he got bad cosmetic surgery and veneers. What did they do to you?? However, I also hate how Alistairs looks in Inquisition so maybe I just don't like when they try to update old characters? Morrigan looks fine, but her outfit is ugly. Isabela is fine. Varric and Harding look good.
Are we unable to have cameos of characters (or references), such as Merrill, because the team are blood magic flip-floppers? She knew so much about Eluvians, blood magic, Dalish nonsense etc. She would have been a fantastic edition to the team in Inquistion and in Veilguard but apparently I can't have anything nice.
Romances:
The romances are good but once I picked my person it was weird seeing how Lucanis switched to Neve almost instantly AND how their chemistry was so much better just through banter and listening to their chats. Almost like that's what the writers intended originally and then made Rook an option later? Davrin has a sweet romance and I have heard good things about Emmerich.
Companions:
Still think I should be able to have three people tag along. Yes, it makes them just talk to each other for banter but I liked having three people.
I wish they would bicker more. Some characters are supposed to not like each other (at least for a while) but they really could have leaned into that more. Be meaner. However, saying that some fans couldn't handle Vivienne...
My main issue with all the companions is that they're really good but don't get the chance to be great. I'm assuming because of development issues. Any decent writer would want to make the most of a character. You can see what they wanted to do and what they managed is good. I feel like the writers pulled their punches too much. They could have really leaned into some ideas and expanded on some aspects so much more but didn't. They all needed an extra ten minutes to fully bake.
Taash's personal stuff is fine. It's a little awkward in places but it's nowhere near as awful as people are making it out to be. It's no worse than anyone else's personal storyline or dialogue. A lot of the criticism is over-dramatic HOWEVER I do feel like their struggles were more with their upbringing as the daughter of a strict mother (who says herself that she was never supposed to have that sort of role within the Qun) in Rivain and those two identities cause conflict, and that was really overshadowed. A lot of Taash's struggles with gender make sense when you consider how gender roles function under the Qun (how their mother would have raised them) versus how they are in Rivaini society (what she was exposed to outside of the home). That's not to say they aren't nonbinary otherwise, just that the conflict could have been woven together better.
I also didn't really like the binary choices you were presented with - why do I, a stranger, get to tell any of these people what to do with their lives? I think Rook can have an opinion but there should be a third option for the character to make their own choice, perhaps based on their approval level with you or something to at least feign free will. This felt particularly insensitive when talking to Taash.
I also think some people are forgetting or deliberately ignoring that Taash is not the only lgbt or nonbinary character in the game or the series as a whole.
But, I do also think there are awkward moments (for all the characters too) where I understand what the team was going for but it doesn't quite land right. I would have actually liked a little more focus on what it's like being a qunari in Rivain etc.
Lucanis is supposed to be a big scary mage-killing demon-possessed assassin but once you recruit him he's practically shuffling about in his fuzzy slippers making coffee at 4am. I really like him but I can't help but wish they hadn't sanded down the edges. Having the Crows fight for the little guys is certainly a choice. I would have preferred them go down more of a "these Crows in this particular family think this way" so as not to undermine everything about Zevran.
Other thoughts:
It feels like the backgrounds don't really matter, they're not referenced much anyway. I was a veil jumper so you'd think Bellara would want to chat to me about that sort of thing more but no, not really. Same with race choices. It does come up but not as much as I had hoped. I also miss the tension between races, backgrounds etc. Why am I, a Dalish elf, wandering around Minrathos unchallenged?
Where's Meredith??? We had that final shot in the animated series but that's it???
What happened to Solas' agents and the uprising? I know years have passed but you'd think there's been more turmoil considering 1. the gods are real and 2. they suck
TL;DR
I had a great time playing, and it was really fun. I actually really enjoyed the finale and the game overall. But, I am concerned that this was essentially a soft reboot and so now what? What about everything we did before? What about all those other characters we cared about?
I also think I got lucky by choosing to have my Solavellan Inquisitor and romancing Davrin, just judging my chatter online.
I think if they didn't want those choices to matter then they should have had this game hav a protagonist who has no connection to Southern Thedas at all. No Varric or Harding. Have them being a literal nobody who doesn't know anything about what's going on outside of what they've directly experienced or it's very vague. They were affected by Solas' actions. They're an elf who was an agent until they realised what he was doing. Something. I just... if you don't want to make a game where choices matter then you shouldn't be working on Dragon Age. You should make something new. This was always Bioware's whole selling point and they've just tossed all that work to one side. Who made that decision?
Imagine if we'd been forced into being a specific character, similar to Hawke in DA2, and had to actually decide whether or not to support Solas as we learned about what he was actually intending to do? Imagine.
Origins still has the strongest writing. DA2 is still my favourite. But I do think Veilguard is a good sequel to Inquisiton. Unfortunately for Bioware, this is the fourth game in a series not the second. As a fourth game, there are some really weird choices. On it's own, it's a really good game. I'm still going to get my partner to play some of it to see what they think as an outsider who only knows about Dragon Age via my chit-chat and reblogging.

Questions for Thora: 4- attitude towards Andrastianism? 18- do they have any irrational fears?
Questions for your Hawke: 6- attitude towards the Qun? 16- do they get sentimental about their weapons or armour?
Questions for your Warden: 13- their thoughts on the Grey Warden order? 23- do they have, or want to have, children? 23-a: if they want to have children, what do you do with the obscure lore that wardens have impaired fertility? (obviously "I ignore it as the Maker intended" is a valid response according to me)
DA Worldstate Questions!
Thora Cadash
4. attitude towards Andrastianism?
Thora is Andrastian- or rather, she believes in both the Stone and the Maker. This is based on some lore that I believe is from Orzammar discussing how the two don't contradict each other (so really Cass should be asking Cadash if there's not room for the Maker in their lives rather than Lavellan).
Her attitude towards Andrastianism is different from her attitude towards the Chantry. She believes in and finds strength in Andraste and her story, perhaps in many ways more than in the Maker. The Chant gives her strength and she loves to sing it. When it comes to the Chantry, she has always felt excluded from it. She might have joined it had she been allowed (and in her companion verses if Leliana is Divine she may serve her), but over time she comes to be more critical of it. Kirkwall taught her to question the Circle, and Inquisition drives those questions to the root of the problem. She does want to believe it can change and supports Leliana in pursuit of that change.
18. do they have any irrational fears?
Not really. She's afraid of deep water and dogs. In the Nightmare she doesn't see spiders, but her companions as they appeared in the Red Lyrium future. All of those fears have some pretty solid basis. Her biggest thing that impacts her day-to-day is that blood/corpses make her ill despite death being part of her job, but again I can't really call that irrational, just unusual for adventuring fantasy protagonists.
Sylvia Hawke
6. attitude towards the Qun?
Definitely not for her. She is more or less the Arishok's foil, undisciplined and chaotic to his control and order.
Her attitude to it at large is less negative than you might expect, in part due to the grudging respect she comes to hold for the Arishok. She also can't say she's a fan of the natural conclusion of its enforcement, which is to say: the conquering of the south. While she had sympathy for the situation of the qunari, after she discovers why they really stuck around so long she found them a little pitiable. She'd fled her home because of the Blight, they were in exile over a book.
16. do they get sentimental about their weapons or armour?
Not at all. She likes to add little touches that she carries from one piece to the next, but isn't attached to any kind. Ironically, in her playthrough I do end up having the same robes through most of act 2 and 3 (robes of the notorious pirate) because there are only a handful of pants for mages in DA2 and Sylvia just isn't a dressy robe person. So she isn't sentimental, but she is picky.
Tamar Aeducan
(Tamar isn't my OC, but my spouse's, but she is my worldstate Warden and the one I'm carrying to DA4).
13. their thoughts on the Grey Warden order?
Tamar is realistic about it. She takes her duties seriously, but finds a lot about the Order to criticise. She had a poor relationship with Clarel when they were both still alive, and is more likely to grant Solas his due in his criticisms than Ian, who holds the Order up on a pedestal. Tamar also is willing to play a little loose with the rules- for example, during Ian's recruitment in DA:O she "recruits" him with no intention of having him Join, letting him go back to his clan after the Archdemon's defeat.
23. do they have, or want to have, children?
She doesn't have any. Tamar has issues conceiving even in verses where she isn't a Warden, like our Modern Thedas verse. She does want them, as does Gorim, but there isn't room for one in her life as Warden-Commander. In Modern Thedas they do adopt, though!

Dreadwolf Speculations - Protagonist + Companions (Part 2 - loong post)
This is part 2 of my Protagonist + Companions speculation for Dragon Age Dreadwolf. You probably will have to read Part 1 to understand the things I discuss in this part.
Some of the pictures I use here will be snips from the BTS trailer from 2020, so apologies for the cropping/inferior quality of some of them.
Much of this (or all of it, really) is speculation, based around teasers, trailers, concept art and leaks. None of it is confirmed, I just wanted to share my personal take on what our companions will beTake that as you will, going forward.
And so;
Part 2: The Companions
Tumblr media
So, as of right now we have 3 confirmed named characters:
Rook (most probably the protagonist)
Bellara (female... something)
Davrin (male... probably a grey warden)
Bellara and Davrin may or may not be companions, but I feel it's important to note they're the only named characters whose voices we've heard (from the BTS teaser back in 2020).
There will be 8 companions, at least for the base game (without dlc companions, which I believe Bioware will not do again)
Origins had 8 (+1 secret companion to replace another who leaves late game) - 2 mages, 2 rogues, 3 warriors + a dog)
DA2 had 7 (with a switch of the siblings, based on pc class) - 2 mages (3 if brother died), 2 rogues, 2 warriors (3 if sister died) (+ technically a dog?)
Inquisition had 9 - 3 mages, 3 rogues, 3 warriors.
Let's go from left to right from the image above!
Female mage (probably elven)
Tumblr media
I don't think a warrior or a rogue would wear a dress for obvious reasons (restrictive movement, impractical battle equipment). And flowing robe-like attire strikes me as a mage thing. I'm also getting an elven vibe from her, but not dalish - her outfit feels elven (legs for days, flowy, the front part that dips between the legs) and it looks to me like she's barefoot (elves like their toesies out)
Here is some examples of elven armour so you see what I mean;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Make sense?
I also like to believe that she is the woman on the far left of this concept art;
Tumblr media
Literally just because she has similar hair and both characters look overtly feminine (and attractive, I must admit)
As for personality/background; I believe she will be rather confident, perhaps flirtatious, she'll probably give you a shock, and will hide some dark secret (I'm calling it, she's going to betray us). As for her background... It depends where we pick her up, really. But I'm positive she's not a dalish elf... If she is an elf at all, but I'm 70-80% sure that she is. Her ears are covered/hidden, so.
2. Female Qunari Rogue
Tumblr media
Very obviously a female qunari (long hair on a female qunari!!). I say rogue, because, we've had 2 warriors, and all of the concept art with this same female qunari is of her wielding daggers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's going to be stubborn, no nonsense, and will probably question your every move. She'll also probably be romanceable, given how much she appears in the concept art/teasers (compared to others). I would like her to be a tal-vashoth- though I think it would be interesting to see the perspective of a woman who lived under the qun, and possibly left because being a woman within the qun is very different from being a man (and we've only seen men, so far). So perhaps she's a runaway from the qun? Perhaps she disagreed with the order of things? She looks closed off/no nonsense. Perhaps her character arc will be her learning to relax/express herself/trust, like we get to see a softer and more feminine side if we get her approval up?
3. Male.... Human.
Tumblr media
I want to say rogue, but when I asked my partner, he said he doesn't look like a rogue or a warrior. So... Possibly mage? The satchels and light-ish armour make me think rogue.... Unless Dreadwolf introduces multiclassing? (I'd fucking love that, not going to lie). This could be Davrin? I doubt it, but... Maybe? I'll settle on a hard maybe - mainly because the other characters in this lineup just don't hit me with that voice. This is a man of triumph, perhaps also of loss. He has something to prove, for himself and for others - he will be... Clever but also valorous, I don't think he's the type to skulk or hide, he'll want to be up at the front and will want you to see (but not in a pompous way?).
Not much else to say on him, unfortunately.
4. Human-male Mortalitasi-mage
Tumblr media
The armour, especially the bracers, look like bones - and I'm 100% sure there's going to be a mortalitasi mage as a companion, they've been hyping them up ever since Inquisition and Tevinter Nights was a thing - and no other character looks like a death mage.
I have nothing else on him, honestly. I'm not getting any vibes. I think he'll be interesting to talk to and will provide a great deal of information, and I suspect he'll be very interesting in stopping/killing Fen'Harel - perhaps he'll have a personal grudge?
5. Female rogue... dwarf.
Tumblr media
The character looks female, and that looks like a gun - though I feel inclined to say it's a crossbow, just at an odd angle (perhaps one similar to Bianca?). I also say dwarf, because I KNOW there's a dwarf companion, and no other character fits in the lineup. She just gives me dwarf vibes.
This is either Scout Lace Harding, or Bianca - perhaps a completely new character (perhaps Bellara? "The good kind of rumble!" gives me dwarf vibes).
She'll be cocky, and quirky, and fun. Looks entirely like the person to does the whole *pumps shotgun* "it's Morbin' time".
Also;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it's a female rogue dwarf, I'm 99% sure it's Scout Lace Harding, I mean- look at those freckles, that ginger hair. Maybe not. But they all look like rogues, and 2 images have crossbows... Is the original lineup picture.... Bianca-the crossbow? It looks a lot like Bianca. If so.... Is Varric going to die in Dreadwolf, and this character is going to get Bianca??
OKAY NO. QUICK THEORY TIME. BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BOTHER ME IF I DON'T GET IT OUT THERE NOW THAT I'VE CONSIDERED IT.
So we know there's a dwarf character in the next game, who looks a bit like Harding, who wield a crossbow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's difficult to get the pictures of Bianca-the crossbow when it's not in active mode, so trust me, it looks a lot like the silhouette's weapon. So- in this wild scenario.... Harding somehow gets Varric's famed crossbow, the crossbow he loves and doesn't let anyone touch? He dies. Varric's going to die, and he's going to either give Bianca to Harding to prevent an enemy from taking it, or Bianca is going to take it off his dead/dying body.
And you ask; what kind of scenario permits this happening? They barely talked in Inquisition.
Well.
Tumblr media
Varric and Harding are travelling together in the deep roads, looking for Solas (and hot on his tail), in this comic.
And what does Harding look like in this most recent rendition of her?
Tumblr media
Now, go back up and look at the concept art images.
The scariest thing is; I could be SO FUCKING RIGHT. Varric may very well die soon (either in these comics, or in Dreadwolf - I'm guessing Dreadwolf). And Harding is going to get Bianca.
She's going to have a serious, and personal vendetta against Solas.
Okay, dwarf companion complete. Next, before I explode.
6. Antivan Crow? Fellow Rook? Rogue (probably female)
Tumblr media
I mentioned before (in Part 1) how I believed since the protagonist is Rook, that in chess, there are 2 Rooks; and in this image;
Tumblr media
There are 2 similar looking corvid-themed characters (left ready to grab the guy, right holding the palanquin). I guessed that the right is the protagonist Rook, and the left, is either an Antivan Crow, or a 2nd Rook (agents of the Inquisition).
Tumblr media
Tin foil hats, galore. But it would be cool though, to go through the game with a constant companion from the beginning, like Alistair in Origins, or Carver/Bethany in DA2.
Tumblr media
I think this is also the Crow/2nd Rook, similar design + weapon. Or, this is the main character.
I believe they're a female character, but that's purely a hunch based on the palanquin piece. Plus, they look like a crow. It'd be weird to have another male crow (I very much doubt it's Zevran).
They seem sarcastic, capable, and probably very likeable (the kind of person it's hard not to like). Probably romanceable to males and females.
7. Male.... Mage??
Tumblr media
At this point, I'm just taking wild guesses. He looks human. But I was super hoping for a tranquil, or ancient elf companion. 1 million points if it's Felassan or Abelas. But... I really don't know what to make of this character, but I'm getting mage vibes. Hoping for a tranquil companion. So that's all I'll say for this guy.
8. I Don't Even Know - Abomination?
Tumblr media
Looks like a sailor? Possibly pirate? From the concept art, it looks like a lot of the scenery is tropical/seaside/ocean - to that makes a bit of sense.
They look dead, their face looks like a skull, almost. So... A spirit possessing the dead?
Or... I just considered another thing, kind of.
Where have we seen a blue face glow before?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I'm not saying it's Solas, or Mythal. I'm merely... suggesting that it could be... Something to do with this scene where Solas kills Flemeth, on some level. I find it interesting how I remembered this when looking at this pirate-looking character, especially when the colours and imagery are so similar.
We'd have to consider why Solas' face lights and waves around, but part of me always assumed this was like... his spirit-self? (If we're to go with the idea that Solas was originally a spirit who took physical form, like Cole).
So... It's a spirit. Is my best guess XD One that hasn't quite gotten the physical form thing right, perhaps it doesn't look human (or elven, dwarven, etc), and looks how... Hold the fuck up.
It's a spirit, at best guess, who takes OUR side... And doesn't look like a physical being. It's body is completely covered, except it's face, that you can't quite see right because of the glow. And how do spirits look in the physical world?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's... Not a corporeal spirit, or one that took physical form. It's a spirit existing as a spirit in the physical world. Or.... The veil has come down, and spirits walk freely in Thedas.
It doesn't look like it's really wearing clothes, it looks like it's just covering itself- a mismatch of items its found or conjured by it's own guess at what people should wear, because it thinks it should be wearing things. I don't think it has a physical body, is what I'm saying, or it's not quite a body (or similar to a demon, it doesn't look right).
But if it's a spirit, what is it a spirit of?
We could guess by colour. I couldn't say; but I'd love for it to be Hope, or something else we've never seen before!
And... That concludes it I think, if I've forgotten something I'll just deal with it.

Deathroot, deep mushroom, and vandal aria!
(Send me a plant and a character!)
You didn't specify a character so I'm just gonna do both of them! Starting with Aster:
Deathroot :: What is the most horrifying thing the Nightmare can cause your character to see?
Hm... I think some sort of blighted Templar. I'm imagining like... rusted armour and glowing red eyes and hands twisted into claws. As a mage of the Circle Templars have been the monsters under Aster's bed his whole life, and becoming a Warden just added darkspawn dreams to his preexisting nightmares. He also associates Templars with the loss of people he loves (again, he's a Circle mage), so it's kind of a two birds, one stone situation in terms of scaring the shit out of him.
Deep Mushroom :: What act does your character consider morally foul but practically necessary? Does your character condone morally foul actions for practicality’s or necessity’s sake at all?
I mean... he is a Grey Warden. He wouldn't have survived if he couldn't condone morally foul actions out of necessity (assuming we're talking actions generally considered to be morally foul here rather than considered morally foul by him). As for what he personally considers morally foul but necessary... well, "any sort of cooperation with the Chantry" is a bit vague and also kind of applies to every single one of my protagonists so I don't want to make that the only thing, but honestly with Aster I can't think of much else? By virtue of seeing things as necessary, he tends to think of them as morally defensible. If he has to do them for the greater good, they are by definition moral on at least some level because worse things would happen if he didn't do them. To put it another way he tends to examine morality based on circumstance, not actions. If something is necessary for practical reasons, then as far as Aster sees it that thing is moral, even if he'd be disgusted by the very idea under other circumstances where it wasn't necessary.
Vandal Aria :: How well can your character bounce back from personal tragedies?
Pretty well, all things considered. Growing up in the Circle it was either learn how to deal with personal tragedy at least enough to not let it affect him openly or... die. He chose the former. Now, at first there was a sort of "I'll keep all my emotions right here and then one day I'll die" element to it at first, but the Origins and especially Awakening companions are all chronic meddlers and that was not permitted to stand when he started interfering in their issues so now it's... healthy. Mostly.
So that's Aster, now on to Alaris:
Deathroot :: What is the most horrifying thing the Nightmare can cause your character to see?
Hm... I think it would actually be his brother, soaked in blood and dying and staggering towards him. His brother (whose name I haven't decided on yet, although I'm tempted to go with Mahanon) died protecting him from Templars, and Alaris has never forgiven himself for that or forgotten what his weakness cost him and his clan. I'd actually say his weakness is the part of him he fears and hates the most, and his dead brother would be an excellent visual for that.
Deep Mushroom :: What act does your character consider morally foul but practically necessary? Does your character condone morally foul actions for practicality’s or necessity’s sake at all?
Aside from the aforementioned moral disgust at supporting the Chantry in any way, I think the thing Alaris considers most morally foul but necessary is controlling people's minds with blood magic. He doesn't like doing it! But unfortunately for him he is very, very good at it and it gets him a lot of things that he would never be able to get if he used less... invasive means. And yeah, he's willing to condone morally foul acts for necessity's sake. If only because he's well aware it would be massively hypocritical not to. After all, if he's willing to dirty his own hands for the sake of the greater good then he has to be prepared to accept others doing the same. (Of course in practice whether he is willing to condone other people's actions tends to depend on how much he personally likes and trusts them outside of those actions.)
Vandal Aria :: How well can your character bounce back from personal tragedies?
Oh god just so badly. Really badly. He could barely handle personal tragedy before he went through so many that he started to think he was cursed. Alaris is one more personal tragedy away from giving up on the whole "being alive" thing altogether. He's honestly only survived this far because Keeper Deshanna has a knack for convincing him that he's still very much needed and that his death would do more harm than good because he's just so sick of losing people. At the start of DAI he mostly treats his companions as tools to be used and manipulated because the thought of starting to care about them only to lose them either to death or—potentially more likely given it's a Chantry organization—betrayal terrifies him to a point where he'd rather spend his whole time with the Inquisition alone and miserable.

Things I'd like to see in a potential DA:O remake
Character creation: better hairs, complexions and eyebrows, a wider range of skin tones
Keeping the Origins and DA2 style tattoos and vallaslin
Better lighting in the character creator
Option to have an Irish/Welsh accent for Dalish elves
Fix the Denerim crashing issue
No whitewashing - special shoutout to Alistair, Zevran, Merrill and Velanna in particular (though if Merrill was updated to look more like her DA2 equivalent but with her Origins skintone, like these mods, I would be happy)
Replacing old staff animations with the newer, funkier ones
Grey Warden uniforms, preferably in the DA2 style
Keep the original Ferelden architecture (not replacing it with the style they have in Inquisition)
Keep combat mechanics, skills, specializations and tactics the same
Properly animate petting the mabari
Please keep the dumb looking mage hats, I love them
But please give me the option to hide headwear in general
Keep the Warden's dialogue completely unvoiced
Keep the Origins style of Darkspawn, they're more unsettling than later iterations. Just make them even MORE unsettling by making them HD
Remastered Ser Pounce-a-Lot gets to hang out by Anders' feet in Vigil's Keep's interior, and there's a cutscene where you can give him a chin scritch
Update dwarves (especially females) to look the way they do in Inquisition
Bring in Adam Howden to rerecord Anders' lines in Awakening (yes I know he voices other characters in Awakening. I think it'd be funny to have two characters with the same voice actor in one conversation). Add in a wee bit more Bisexuality by having him also hit on male Wardens the way he does female Wardens
Keep Sten hornless, but update him to look a bit more like the other qunari in later games
Update NPC/enemy qunari with later game appearances, and give them updated qunari armour
Let me pet Schmooples
Less cringy sex scenes
Updated Isabela appearance (without any whitewashing)
Update appearance of Battledress of the Provocateur to match Leliana's armor in the Sacred Ashes trailer when worn by human females
Alternatively, give all companions their own style of armor, similar to the way everyone in Inquisition has their own style of armor
DA2 style elves (for everyone except Zevran. just like ... give him slightly more prominent ears or something but for the love of all that is holy do NOT make him look the way he did in DA2)
Warden has better expressions in cutscenes - think the way that Tav doesn't speak in the current early access edition of BG3 but they still smile, scowl, look confused, frown, etc instead of just looking blank faced and dead inside 95% of the time
Better lighting, especially indoors
I don't mind not being able to jump, actually. Making jumping a mechanic would mean completely redesigning all the maps beyond giving them a texture/graphics/lighting upgrade and I don't think it's at all necessary
Let me respecialize at certain points in the main game
Give me the ability to change the way my character looks mid game without mods

Apostate Joe x Templar Nicky is so perfect?? They meet when Nicky is sent to capture Joe but then get interrupted by the Fifth Blight and end up having to fight together! Andy as the scarily talented but worn down older warden, Booker as an Orlesian rogue specialising in traps and tech who got recruited after deserting? Quynh was taken to the Deep Roads forcibly maybe? I would very much enjoy Nicky getting knocked out and mauled by darkspawn leaping in front of Joe and thinking "well I'm off to see the Maker clearly" and then waking up in the Wardens' camp like "Why am I here" and Joe who Definitely only wants this guy to survive so he can kill him himself Of Course Honest like "because I dragged you and your stupid heavy ugly Templar armour all the way here" "wh-why??" "Because the demons told me to obviously. BECAUSE IM A DECENT PERSON"
!!! YESSS i was kind of imagining a dao au type scenario so andy as The Warden, rogue booker [chefs kiss] (like in canon!! he gets arrested for desertion or something and andy sees him in the stocks or some shit & takes one look at him & is like. right of conscription.) what about....................... abomination quynh. she gets thrown into the deep roads as a prank or some absolute fuckery (maybe bc shes a mage?) and she makes a deal with a justice spirit to get out of there alive and she becomes like anders
nicky, waking up in a grey warden camp: where am i
joe: i made the unfortunate decision of hauling you and all your heavy armor 10 miles just to save your ass
andy: i distinctly remember you crying and begging us to save h-
joe: shush ._.
No but also. While they're travelling. Nicky becoming enthralled by Joe and how he casts, the way his elegant fingers spark fire from nothing, the focus and determination on his face as he flows from one spell to the next, the way he grins and laughs and cheers when they win. Joe who knows some healing magic and Nicky who has a nasty wound and is so shocked by how gentle and careful Joe is healing it even though he's also exhausted from the fight... meanwhile Joe who can't look away as Nicky is thoughtful and kind, works hard to take care of them, puts himself in harm's way to protect them in battle, the gentle way he speaks to some terrified kids they rescue and the lethally competent way he cuts the slaver that stole them into pieces. When they go into the Fade Joe finds Nicky with a demon who makes him feel loved and wanted and Nicky expects him to be an ass about it once they're out but Joe isn't?? Nicky gives him an awkward thank you?? And from there they're friendlier!
the bonding during the chase.... nicky and joe make a quick truce to help a town thats being attacked by Criminals and theyre both like 'Wow This Guy Is So Gentle And Kind (but hes still a mage/templar)' and then they go to sleep that night and when nicky wakes up..... joe is gone... on the run.... the chase begins again... chefs kiss.
sdfgHJK joe finds nicky in the fade and hes DEEPLY expecting to see some X-rated Repressed Templar Shit but when he finds nicky hes just taking a nap & spooning with a desire demon
i also... deeply imagine them basically, like, running cross-country after each other and nickys hauling all his armor and joe's got his bag full of like.... grimoires... and beard oil. and theyre both all sweaty and panting and joes like 'GOD CANT YOU JUST KILL ME LIKE A REGULAR TEMPLAR' and nickys like 'HHHH ALL OF THE MAKER'S CREATIONS HAVE VALUE AND ITS THE TEMPLARS DUTY TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE MAGES BOTH FROM SOCIETY AND FROM THEMSELVES' and joes like 'YOURE STUPID WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING STUPID'

Fictober 3.“Now? Now you listen to me?” Rating: T
Pairing: Alistair x GN!Reader
Fandom: Dragon Age Origins
Wordcount: 1,644
Rating: T
Tal-vashoth mage reader.
Summary: You were always told to hide you are, to wear a hat to hide your horns. You understood why but hoped that the one person you cared for would accept you. On the eve of Battle you wonder if you'll ever see him again.
I know the line is used at the end, that is actually what I started with but then decided to write the before. As I just felt like it was a very Morrigan thing to say.
You were different, that much was clear from the get go. But you had learnt from those who raised you to hide your differences. So when the Grey Wardens recruited you, you felt like maybe that could be the start of letting people see you for you. Yet they still asked you to hide the things that defined who you were.
You might scare the locals or worse cause them to become hostile. That's what they always told you. You understood that, but you had to do it even in camp just in case you also had to hide that side of your life.
You should be proud of who you are, yet everyone made you feel otherwise. That was until he joined up. He would look at the oddly shaped hat, and wonder what made you like it so much. When in truth it was there to hide the things you use to love.
Then it happened, they appeared. The human of higher birth. The eyes you so adored looked elsewhere. No longer did your odd hat and odd personality hold his interest, or maybe it was just his nice personality wanting to help this newcomer. Or the simple fact he was ordered to guide them.
But you still couldn’t help but think that this pretty noble had caught his attention beyond that. So you watched sullenly as they got closer, as he laughed. Cursing the day you ever listened to anyone for telling you to hold back, telling you not to show who you really are. It was a miracle you never got caught by Templars and then you began to fall for an ex Templar.
And still they told you to hide, even though with being a Grey Warden they had no standing to take you in as an Apostate. Though the truth of the fact was that being a mage was not their main concern. The main concern had always been and always be what you hid under the hat.
And later the helm that hid the truth by showing the truth as part of the armours aesthetics.
You knew that not everyone liked your kind, or what they represented. You had seen how the elves were treated and still are treated. Whenever anyone saw the points of your ears they just assumed the hat was to try and hide them, and that you were tall for an elf. Little did they know you were and are a Tal-Vashoth. Something they did not like due to looking like those under the Qun.
A sigh left your lips as you continued to check the weapons for the upcoming battle. Later at night, he approached you first telling you of his day. His Ventures in the Korcari Wilds and his meeting with a Witch of the Wilds. When he came to the final piece of information, likely the main reason for him coming to talk to you. “Can you believe it? They don’t want me on the front lines.”
A raised eyebrow was all the answer you gave him, you had your theories on why that was the case. A certain blond king with similar features being the big key point in your theory. There were too many similarities for them not to be related in some form or another.
“Well?”
Another raised eyebrow, “Well, what?”
“Can you believe it?”
You nod a small smile lighting up your face, “Yes I can, and I’m pretty sure you know deep down the reasoning.” It was a test, one he failed when he froze and his eyes widened. You shook your head, “Your secret is safe with me, friend. But it would take a fool not to notice the similarities when seeing you both in such close quarters.” You stand, towering over the man who held your heart without any knowledge of the fact. You placed a hand on his shoulder, “But I did not know completely if my theory was true until now.”
“Oh.”
His embarrassment was endearing, “Promise me something?” When he said nothing you continued, “Don’t ever play Wicked Grace, you will fail miserably.” From the sag of his shoulders you realise he had likely thought you were going to say something much more serious.
You begin to walk away when his hand on your arm stops you, “Thank you.” He clears his throat before saying, “Look after yourself tomorrow and don’t hold back.” Instead he was being the serious one.
Then it was him who walked away, not you. You watched as his figure faded into the night. A heavy weight settling in your stomach, the thought that this may be the last time you lay eyes on him weighing on you heavily as you go prepare for the morning.
Don’t hold back. Did he know?
Then morning came. Then they came.
Your eyes drifted towards the tower you knew he would be going to, hoping it would instill some strength. Then you turned towards the oncoming storm, letting your hat fly off. The metal of your horns glinting in the morning light as you twirl your staff as if you were dancing, slamming it into ground. Watching as your magic takes effect.
You would fight till the end if it meant he would get more time in the tower to light the beacon. The fight was getting horrendous, two others you had befriended were getting surrounded so you lit their foes up in flames after casting a shield for them. Rushing to them, "Hawkes, are you okay?"
They both nodded, looking at the grim sights around them. You would live this day and while the Battle was lost, the war against this blight was yet to happen.
When you reached Lothering you helped the Hawkes prepare to leave but when they'd leave you would not follow.
You were back to wearing disguises, helping anyone you could while you waited in hopes he had survived. A few days had passed and there he was. You just stood off to the side of the Qunari Sten when you spotted him. He was with the noble and a witch of the wilds by the looks of it. Maybe the one he had told you about?
The Qunari made you uncomfortable, he had you pegged in minutes of you trying to talk to  him. Which just made you even more uncomfortable. In fact he was still glaring at you. That being the only reason they looked in your direction.
Before you or anyone could do anything you had a human practically leap at you, wrapping you in their arms.
Due to being taller you rested your head on top of theirs. Heart wrenching at the heartbreaking sounds he was making at finding someone he cared about alive and well.
You hugged him back, never wanting to let go. You saw the mages face of disgust and glared when she opened her mouth to likely say something snarky going by the look on her face. Surprisingly she stopped, raising an eyebrow at your protectiveness.
But then she turned to the noble, who then exclaimed, "They're a what?"
Now he pulled away looking at them then you. A sigh left your lips. Glancing at the Qunari behind them half expecting it was him who told the witch of the wilds.
"It was me not your Qunari friend who told me what you are."
It was your turn to raise an eyebrow. "He is no friend of mine. He follows the Qun and would see my kind used or dead." He had made that abundantly clear. Labelling you Saarebas. You knew what the Qun did to mages. No thank you.
"Tal-vashoth? Interesting." You glanced at her again. "I am Morrigan and you are?"
"Not amused." You hear a snort from beside you and look at him. Expecting disgust or even hatred. None of it. He was smiling at you and then frowned in concern.
"You knew?" The noble had apparently worked out what you couldn't. "Well, Alistair?"
It was his turn to look a tad sour. "Of course I knew, I didn't tell you as it wasn't my place. That and judging by your reaction it was a good choice."
He was getting defensive for you. He knew and was defending you. This man had no idea what he was doing to your heart.
The noble sighs, "I do not mind what they are Alistair but a heads up would have been preferable." They nod to you, "I expect you'll be joining us?"
You couldn't help but notice the pleading look in his eyes. He thought you wouldn't? You had a job to do as a Grey Warden. A duty you didn't take lightly.
You also vowed to keep him safe. "I would not leave your side." You told him while looking him directly in the eyes. Ignoring the sound of disgust from Morrigan. Smiling when you noticed his cheeks flush.
He glanced at the others who were now talking to the Sten. Then he looked at you arm raising and his hand going to the back of his neck in what you assumed was a nervous mannerism. His cheeks flushing once more as he looked at you, "And I you."
The Tal-vashoth Grey Warden mage and the human Grey Warden ex Templar.
It was then you heard Morrigan shout at the Mabari, "Now? Now you listen to me!" You smiled thinking you were going to quite like being around all these people. Frowning at the Sten. Well almost everyone.
A hand taking yours made the frown fall from your face as a smile was sent your way from the one person you cared for most. Yes all that had led  you here was worth it. And maybe just maybe this would be the start of accepting who you are and letting others accept it too.

💍 📓 💧 🗣️ for Ashara
thank u blue ur a star
💍 Does your OC have a specific item that is priceless to them but may (or may not) be completely worthless to someone else? Is there a story behind this item or is it just because they like it so much?
a few ! she has very few possessions because being dalish she’s grown up learning to travel light, but so the things that are important to her tend to never leave her person ! she loves her sylvanwood ring because it reminds her of her caln/her purpose in a way, though she usually wears it around her neck bc shes a fire mage and. well. its wood so jfdkdfjkd
shes also is super protective of her journals, since they have basically her entire life written into them, plus inquisition secrets and intel and stuff. she also keeps that with her at all times (i like to think that the book on a lot of the mage armour is literally her journal lmao fdkjdfkj)
📓 Write a typical diary/journal page by your OC! (or if you’d rather not, describe their journal. Do they keep one, why?)
answered here !
💧 What makes your OC lose hope, what makes them give up and feel helpless? Have they ever given up on something really important or let go of a dream? What are some of their biggest regrets? Would they ever try again (if they’re able to)?
it takes a LOT for ashara to give up on something. she is absolutely relentless and too proud to ever really accept defeat, which isnt a good thing because after a while it means she will begin going against her own values in order to achieve her goals (ie. in trespasser she was mostly fine with disbanding the inquisition, because she had done what she’d set out to do and she doesnt care about political power enough to hoard it. HOWEVER, after learning about solas shes so furious she goes against this and decides to continue the inquisition, knowing its wrong and knowing its corrupted, just bc she feels like she Needs it in order to Win hhhhhhhh)
im not really sure what would make ashara give up on something honestly? maybe logic and truth?? if she learns something that goes against what she believes, even if its a negative thing, she usually will accept it even if the consequences suck and its not what she wants.
as for regrets, she has PLENTY. she regrets a lot of her crueler actions during the inquisition, like leaving hawke in the fade, sacrificing the chargers and exiling blackwall to the grey wardens (ik thats the good option in game but i hc she was really really vicious abt it fgdjkfjfdg) but i don’t think she puts much value in the “if i could go back” line of thinking. she knows she can’t, and she tries not to focus too much on the past and her own guilt, and instead tries to BE better and DO better for the people she’s lost, ykno? the only thing i think she’d say she wishes she could actually change, is meeting solas (though, this is only while she’s absolutely furious at him lol)
🗣️ What are the most painful words that can be said to your OC to utterly break them? What are the words that you could tell them to cheer them up? Maybe some advice to give them the boost they need!
there are a few elven curses that really mess her up if theyre directed at her ! dirthara ma (may you learn) cuts extra deep for her bc it implies shes foolish or reckless or like??? a thoughtless idiot djdfkjdfkj and she hates feeling incompetent or childish so. dont say that to her vkjfdkjfdkj also “harellan” is a recent word that she takes a lot of offence to. i mentioned it in a previous ask but it’s a word a lot of ppl start using @ her after she removes her vallaslin and continues to serve the inquisition instead of stepping up as keeper after her clan’s destruction, and obviously after her relationship with solas aka the literal dread wolf lol. a lot of people see her as forsaking the dalish (esp after the whole “herald of andraste” bs) and it honestly affects her so much bc she loves her ppl yknow. even if she sometimes struggles to show it in the conventional way. i think the main thing that would just. hurt her SO bad would be someone she love/d (maybe solas or her sister or one of the advisers) saying like??? “you’re nothing, nothing you’ve done matters, you’re not nearly as smart as you think you are and all you do is get people hurt due to your own incompetence” :( :( :(
in saying that ashara could probably be cheered up by like? someone calling her “hahren” bc she LOVES feeling intelligent and respected. any compliments about her intelligence would also be well received, and yea i guess anything that convey respect or make her feel competent. if she were ever to follow any advice it would probably be smth like “its okay to be sad. you don’t have to be angry all the time, sometimes sadness is okay as well.”

🐉 Age Questions
I was tagged by the very lovely, @nerdierholler to give up some of my darkest gaming secrets... Yaaay! Thank you, darling XD
1. Favourite game of the series? Wow... Not pulling any punches, are we? Honestly, they all have things I adore and all have things I dislike. I’ve played DAO more than the others, but that’s because it’s the oldest of them all. I love the camp mechanic and just how in depth Origins is, but the combat is... dated? Da2 has Hawke, which for me is a winner in itself.  And DAI has so many wonderful characters.
2. How did you discover 🐉 Age? I honestly can not even remember at this point! I remember playing DAO when it was quite ‘new’. I remember dying, aaannnnd then i didn’t play it again until someone showed me how amazing DAI looked. So, I bought it and then got back into them all in a big way, and destroyed my life in doing so!
3. How many times have you’ve played the games?  Ahahahahaha... Umm... I don’t know..?  Let’s put it this way, on my laptop alone (as in ALL my console hours, which is a whole lot, not counted.) I have clocked up over 1200 hours on DAO, 720 on DA2, and 1250 on DAI... So, yes. Now you all know how very sad I am...
4. Favourite race to play as? Dwarfs, they hands down have the BEST and funniest dialog options.
5. Favourite class? DAO; Dual wield rogue  DAI & DA2; Mage. Oh, so many mages...
6. Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? I kinda vary it, but not as much as I sometimes want to. I’ve never done a pure ‘asshole’ playthrough, even though sometimes I would like to see how it ends up. I blame Bioware for making the NPC’s likeable.
7. Go-to adventuring group? DAI: Alistair, Zevran, Shale. DA2: Varric, Fenris/Carver, Anders. DAI: Varric, Dorian, and random. My 3rd spot always changes so I can hear as much awesome dialog as possible.
8. Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Tumblr media
This poor sod...  Viridis - My DAO dalish elf is a close second, but she’s dead, so her struggle is over, and she went out a hero. Poor Faeron suffers every. single. day. And still finds some reason to try and smile.
9. Favourite romance? Alistair. But that is helped hugely thanks to cute (and not so cute) mods.  This is actually hard because, Although I like to romance certain people more than others, that isn’t me saying that their romance is my favourite.  I mean, I freakin’ love Dorian, but out of all the romances I feel his was done really well, but... A little quick compared to others which had a nicer, spread over time, thing, going on.
10. Have you read any of the comics/📚? I read one... But that was a long while ago now.  It was good! They’re just pretty pricey and very rarely on sale.
11. If you read them, which was your favourite 📓? The one I read?
12. Favourite DLCs? All are acceptable answers, bar trespasser. - I don’t care what you say, I know it was amazing. I know it was stunning. I know it answered a lot of questions and set up DA4 in a great way and such - BUT
Tumblr media
This. This is too much. HE’S ALREADY LOST HIS LOVER - AND THEN THE AVERAGE, BALD, WOLF, WHO STOLE FAERON’S ARMOUR BTW, THEN RIPS HIS SODDING ARM OFF?!
FUCK YOU, BIOWARE.
13. Things that annoy you? Invisible walls. Boundaries and made to be broken!  And doors in DAI. I am always getting stuck behind one instead of running through the doorway. Please tell me it’s not just me?! I miss the doors of DAO and DA2. I am willing to sacrifice immersion on that one small point, I just want to get through the doorway, please.
14. Orlais or Ferelden? Who in the shit picks Orlais? For Ferelden!!
15. Templar's or Mages? Mages. Especially as i’m playing one 95% of the time.
16. If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? Depends.  Jereth, Xander, Tobias, and Faeron & Nico, are all from the same timeline, and my ‘canon’ run if you like. Xander also has a sister (other than Bethany) who is from the same time, but also has her own separate parallel play-through.  I mix and match backgrounds.
17. What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc.) Jereth called his mabari, Captain blightballs, because he is forever 12, and thinks it’s funny. Xander’s mabari was named Wrex, as in Wrex from Mass Effect.  Faeron’s Halla is named Ghilas, which is elven for ‘to go’.  Nico’s horse (yes a horse and NOT a halla) is called stormy, which is a RP in joke.
18. Have you installed any mods? Oh hell yes! Many, many mods. Gods bless you mod makers! You guys make everything so much better! And I say this as someone who has played all the games, many times, totally un-modded.  Lots of better textures for CC, gameplay changes, cheats. You name it! It’s not like I don’t know the base game at this point.
19. Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?       Yes, and no.  Did Jereth want to get out of the circle, and possibly being made tranquil? Oh yes! Yes indeed. However, did he want to drink blood cocktails, watch his bromies die, and actually have to do stuff?  Not so much.
20. Hawke’s personality? Purple. They always all end up as purple... Or at least, varying degrees. I can’t not.  Xander is 100% purple, bar maybe 4 occasions in the whole game.
21. Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition? Heh... I have TWINS. I had to try and remember who was wearing what, and which parts were dyed, and then make two sets... Utter nightmare.
22. If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? Jereth wouldn’t change anything, because he isn’t that wise. Plus, in his mind he ended up coming out ahead.  Xander would have tried to save Bethany and paid more attention to his mother. He’d just try and be more responsible, I guess, but probably end up failing and just being the same smartass as ever.  Faeron... My poor boy... Faeron would do it all differently if he could. I think, if he could change one thing, he’d have let Morrigan drink from the pool. Having yet MORE voices in his head was the last thing he needed, not to mention a constant reminder of who Mythal really is...  Nico wouldn’t let Dorian get close enough to Faeron for the relationship to start in the first place. It was was a big enough thing for her to accept it in the first place... But when he decided to leave, and said Faeron couldn’t go with him... Nico didn’t take kindly to it.
23. Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?  Twins? Someone dating Varric? The fact that Hawke, Amell & Alistair are all alive?? Sorry Stroud. (not sorry) Yeah... I substitute that bit... You know all those pictures of Hawke or Alistair’s LI waiting on them? Well, I just can’t ever kill Alistair and leave poor Jereth holding some wilting daisies, pouting. I mean... Who would put up with him full time?? Leliana?? I think not!
24. Are any of your character(s) based on someone? Yeah, me. All of them. Well, mostly. Tobias for example is nothing like me in any sense. But Jereth, Xander (& his sister Lola), Faeron and Nico are all some part of me. Some of my other wardens and Hawke’s too.
25. Who did you leave in the Fade? Sorry again Stroud. (Still really not sorry...)
26. Favourite mount? Faeron on his Halla is definitely most epic... But the Hart sound... It’s like having PTSD, I’m forever on edge and thinking ‘Don’t stop suddenly... DON’T stop suddenly...’  I did get this awesome Dracolisk mod which made them look like Maleficent’s dragon, which was so good for my qunari mage.

Dragon Age Question Meme
Thank you for the tag @charlatron !
Tagging @inner-muse @gugle1980 @andrastini @melaena @missragdoll84 @gremlinquisitor @jonogueira @kierarutherford @a-shakespearean-in-paris
01) Favourite game of the series?
Has to be Inquisition, although I do love them all.
 02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
My husband (boyfriend at the time) had played origins and recommended it. Something I think he still probably regrets.
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
Origins and DA2: 3 times each
Inquisition: 5 times (with two saves in progress)
04) Favourite race to play as?
Human. I rarely stray from human, but have played as an elf.
05) Favourite class?
Tank! Sword and shield warrior woman here who likes to be in the thick of the action. Also like a bow or daggers for a rogue.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I always play blind the first time, so the decisions are my own, the second play through is normally me fixing my wrong decisions to get the best ending, and I also like to play as my oc’s.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
- Origins: Alastair, Leliana, Morrigan or swap Leliana for the mabari if I’m a rogue!
- DA2: Isabella, Fenris and Anders
- Inquisition: This varies but normally Sera, Dorian and Blackwall or Cassandra
Basically I like two warriors, a mage and a rogue.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Anyone who knows me, knows its Annabel Trevelyan. She actually comes from an original story I’m writing and decided to throw her into Thedas. Many hours over many years have been spent getting to know that woman!
09) Favourite romance?
Cullen – of course. Alistair takes second spot.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?.
No, but the Stolen Throne and Hard in Hightown are waiting to be read.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
n/a
12) Favorite DLCs?
Marrying Cullen, of course! They could have asked me to pay just for that and I would have thrown my money at them.
13) Things that annoy you.
Not being able to get mods on the console ☹
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden: I am a big dog lover and English so feel its mandatory
15) Templars or mages?
Difficult - I like both but if forced to choose Templars – I know, I know, I just think they get a lot of mud slung at them when really most of them are actually decent.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
My Cousland, Hawke and Trevelyan are all in the same one. Of course, Bryan and Annabel can’t both be Inquisitor so there is a different AU for him.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
Mabari: BarkSpawn (Origins), Ser Barksalot (DA2) and Prince (Inquisition)
18) Have you installed any mods?
I’ve never played on a PC ☹
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Not really, no.
20) Hawke’s personality?
Purple!
21) Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition?
Nope, but I did make them the best and armour I could, that still looked good of course.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Annabel would have slept in and missed the meeting at the conclave! Of course, then she wouldn’t have met Cullen so messing with time is dangerous.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
Annabel only has one older brother – but other than that I stick to canon most of the time.
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
Nope - just formed from different personality types that I like.
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud. Thankfully King Alistair was happily married to Queen Eve!
26) Favourite mount?
I like the horses. The noises the Harts make really put me off! Annabel has Free Marches Ranger of course, but for me it’s probably the Imperial Warmblood because it’s pretty.

25 Dragon Age Questions
Tagged by: @lavellenchanted
Tagging: @fogsblue and anyone else who’s played the game and wants to do these
01) Favourite game of the series? This one’s tough, because I love all of them. Even Dragon Age 2, which is by far my least favorite, I love. Probably Inquisition, because of the characters and I prefer the combat to that of Origins.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?  My friend Em, played them and I was like... Hmmm, this sounds neat, so I got Origins for the PS3 which I had at the time and fell in love.
03) How many times you’ve played the games? ... NO. I’m not gonna look in my saves folders to count. More than I should admit to XD. Enough to romance almost all the options at least once at least soooo yeah. And one of those options is actually a mod
04) Favourite race to play as?  In Origins, human, because I like the rawness of the conflict with Howe as a noble. In Inquisition, give me ELVES OR NOTHING.
05) Favourite class? I usually play Rogues Archers in Origins and then Mages in the other two. I love basically anything ranged.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? I try to vary things up, but I do have a lot of repeat decisions. Like I rarely ever side with the Templars at Therinfal Redoubt. I’ve DONE IT, but I tend to go mages, and I tend to play Hawke v. pro mage as well, which leads to my Dragon Age 2 playthroughs all looking a lot alike. (I also have a severe case of ‘must do all the quests’ syndrome, which means once I know a branch leads to more quests I always must pick it or it gnaws at the back of my brain that I broke the quest chain)
07) Go-to adventuring group? Alistair, Wynne and Zevran in Origins, Fenris, Varric and Bethany (far as long as I have her) and then Isabela for Dragon Age 2, and Varric, Dorian, and Iron Bull for Inquisition.  I tend to choose my companions based on banter and just how much I like them even though I do try to have at least one of every class, so sometimes I’ll swap out Cassandra for Bull, or bring Cole instead of a warrior in Inquistion, and I party swap a lot in Origins though, because Oghren is funny, if terrible and I love Leliana and Shale and Morrigan is so fun to hear needling Alistair. Alistair is... always in my party though. He arrives and he stays. XD
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into? Hmmmm, I have a Diplomatic Lady!Hawke (she’s named in game because I... honestly just forgot to rename her at the time, and didn’t think I’d get so attached, but now she’s THE Marian so.. yeah) She wasn’t super well thought out at first, but by the time the end of the first chapter hit, I’d really fleshed her out in my head; her motivation for doing whatever it took to keep her sister safe (she’s my ONLY rogue Hawke too, so there’s that) after losing Carver, her need to have other people like her because of how her mother reacted to Carver’s death. So probably her, I’ve got a whole... emotional mythos in my head for her that goes with her and her entire relationship with Fenris.
09) Favourite romance? Cullen. He’s just such an adorable dork. (I also love Alistair for this reason) But also Dorian. God Dorian’s romance is SO GOOD. And even Solas’ is very good and emotional. And to represent DA2′s options, Fenris. Who I love dearly. He’s such a prickly angry guy and I just love seeing him open up over time. (Isabela is also compelling, I like the ‘this is casual WHOOPS I’ve caught feelings’ aspect both her romance and Zevran’s have)
So... basically ALL OF THEM?
10) Have you read any of the comics/books? One of the comics, though I forget the title right now as it was a couple of years ago now. I’ve never gotten around to reading the books, but I keep meaning to.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
12) Favourite DLCs? Hmmm, Well I like the companion DLCs, so Stone Prisoner and Exiled Prince. I don’t like that they ARE DLCs, but I enjoy the characters, yes even Sebastian, so probably those. Awakening and Trespasser are both also brilliant and I love them for giving me extra story.
13) Things that annoy you? That you have to have your dog as a party member in Origins. That’s so dumb. I also hate that they decided to HIDE the relationship meters in Inquisition. I get why, but I liked knowing how much everyone liked me or disliked me. So -shrug-.
14) Orlais or Ferelden? Ferelden. What kind of question is this?
15) Templars or mages? Mages. I... am actually not going to explain this, I started to but decided this is not a debate and I don’t care what anyone thinks soooo. Yeah.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? Both? Parallel in the playthrough, but there’s definitely a universe in my head where I’ve got like... seven wardens kicking around and Hawke twins and ... well actually there’s only one Inquisitor in that one too, and that Ellana Lavellen who Romances Cullen, because she’s my OFFICIAL Inquisitor but like the others are kicking around, as people, so like Adaar’s mercenary company ends up at Skyhold along with the Chargers and that sort of thing. It’s all very messy, but a lot of fun.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc) I admit after heard the dog was named Barkspawn in the Darkspawn Chronicles I stole that and used it forever more, because I’m terrible and it makes me giggle. I don’t usually name my summons, I’m very bad at the game and they die too fast lol.
18) Have you installed any mods? -shoves mods in a closet- -shifty eyes- No. -closet bursts open and buries me in mods- OKAY YOU CAUGHT ME.
SO MANY. SO SO MANY.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? No, with the exception of my Dwarvish Noble Princess. She was stoked because the Wardens are cool and the Deep Roads suck. (And like for the others, it’s more... being a Warden is preferable to dying, but none of them want to have to leave their lives and families behind)
20) Hawke’s personality? I tend to play Hawke as a snarky diplomat depending on who she’s dealing with. With a side order of angry Hawke when people are particularly stupid. (Sooo throw it in a blender and mix well? Tends to come out as sarcastic in the imports)
21) Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition? No, they all have their own color schemes. Cole is in blues, Dorian in reds, Solas in green, that sort of thing. And then I color coordinate with whoever I’m romancing. XD
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? For Lisbet (my Human Noble) it’s the deaths of her family. She misses them a lot. For one very unlucky Lavellen, (who is so unlucky I’ve forgotten his name, because after this happened I noped right on out of that save) it’s the death of his whole clan. I looked up how to correctly do that quest chain quickly after that so none of my other Lavellen’s had to suffer such pain.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? I mean... probably but I honestly at this moment can’t think of any. Except that my Warden Queen didn’t just disappear into thin air and totally comes back to Denerim at least once a year while she’s on her quest to cure the Calling, which she does, because Lisbet doesn’t know how to fail. (Also babies. She and Alistair have babies and canon can fight me about it.) Soooo those I guess.
24) Who did you leave in the Fade? Depends on who is there, Sometimes Hawke, Sometimes Stroud, Loghain in the one playthrough I’ve ever done where he was made a Warden.
25) Favourite mount? The Red Hart. So pretty.

// Dragon Age Questions
Tagged by: no one but i stole it from @dalathin Tagging: @hopewrought, @apocryphorum , @shiftysmugglerlook, @andrastegraced, @felandaristhorns,@deathsreflection,@ghilannainguideme, @snowmcid, @youriinquisitorialness,@nxthero,@willbeshot, , @ofrevas, @theshirallen, @pentaghasted, @valorcorrupt
01) Favourite game of the series? Inquisition, without question. I love all the games but the themes and characters of Inquisition are most important to me.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age? I’ve been playing Bioware games since Jade Empire, although Dragon Age I picked up just b/c it was summer break from university and I was bored, and then I got hooked. I originally wasn’t going to play DA2 b/c it was the same year it came out that I picked up DA:O and it wasn’t getting great reviews. Luckily my dad’s a terrible listener and bought it for me, and unlike the time he bought me AC:Unity despite me saying I didn’t want it, it worked out.
03) How many times you’ve played the games? At least six for DA:I, and then somewhere between 4 and 5 for the other two.
04) Favourite race to play as? Dwarves or elves. I came into the series as dwarf trash and the writing for the elves was rly interesting for this series so I also became elf trash.
05) Favorited class? Mages, except in DA:O where I hate playing anything, but mages the most. Between the spell effects being ugly (why does rock armour look like ur flaking dry skin???) and the AOE effecting everyone even on casual (who decided it was ok to shake the screen THAT MUCH during earthquake) I’m............. not a fan. But I love it in DA2 and DA:I, although in DA:I archer/rogue is a close second.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? I make different decisions based upon which character I’m playing. So like, Thora will make the same decisions (with slight divergences like I’ll break up with Thom so I can experience Josie’s romance) and then Ruth, my pro-Templar Inquisitor, will be designed to make different decisions from her. Same goes for my Hawkes and Wardens, although I have a significantly harder time justifying some of the alternate decisions in DA:O/DA2. I let the Dalish clan die in DA:O for one jerk Warden and I’m still like “this is a bit overboard.”
07) Go-to adventuring group? DA:O - Zevran, Alistair, Wynne. DA2 - Carver, Varric or Isabela, Merrill in Act 1 and then after that either Aveline in place of Carver or I’ll take Varric, Isabela, and Merrill just so I have a party that likes one another. For DA:I - Solas, Sera or Cole, Blackwall. Although like with my decisions I vary companions, except for Solas who I keep around even when my Inquisitor is doing everything he hates.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into? Of my PCs, Thora. I don’t tend to develop them much unless I’m writing them, beyond really basic motivations and reasons for their decisions. Since I’ve been writing Thora for a while now tho she’s obviously gotten the most development.
09) Favourite romance? Zevran, probably, which is a shame b/c I’ve only done it once.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books? I’ve read Masked Empire and some of the comic issues.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book? I rly enjoyed Masked Empire.
12) Favourite DLCs? For its drama, Trespasser. Overall, Mark of the Assassin. I may not like Felicia Day (sue me) but oh my god that DLC is fucking gold.
13) Things that annoy you. In-game uhhh... the writing for Oghren and some banter for Zevran, I’m glad Bioware improved the writing for their more sexual characters b/c the banter with Iron Bull is overall less uncomfortable. At this point tho half the time I’m more annoyed by the fandom and its like relentless negativity or misuse of the word “plot hole.”
14) Orlais or Ferelden? Ferelden.
15) Templars or mages? Mages.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? With Wardens, there’s the assumption they died with their origin story if Duncan isn’t there. For my Inquisitors, Thora has a companion verse that I pretend is in effect if I’m playing not-Thora. Obviously Hawkes are a parallel universe. I would not wish four Hawkes onto Carver or Bethany.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc) I remember only a couple of my mabari names but uh... Fenrir was one, Butters was another, and then one was just Dog b/c i downloaded the dlc half-way through DA2 and it didn’t let me name it at that point, but it was IC for that Hawke so it fit. Thora has a war nug named Moroc.
18) Have you installed any mods? Yes god. A few key ones are Skip the Fade, giving me Warden armour in DA:O, giving Merrill’s romance armour a scarf so I don’t gotta look at her neck, and then the Bi Solas mod.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? Most didn’t, no. I think the only one with positive feelings about it was my Brosca, whose life was kind of over at that point anyway.
20) Hawke’s personality? My main Hawke (Sylvia) was Purple with some Blue, b/c it’s just not appropriate to joke in front of the Viscount when his son’s body isn’t cold, and after Leandra died she got Redder but still overall Purple. My second most developed Hawke, Leland, was mostly red unless Fenris brought up slavery or he was talking to Merrill. Or Anders. Basically he was just grumpy when he had to talk to strangers.
21) Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition? I sometimes try to match colours, but also have preferences for different characters so don’t always.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? Thora already went back in time and changed one thing, next question. I have no answers for anyone else.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? Not particularly, at least not for my PCs, obviously I have some for Solas. At worst Thora’s status as a Beserker is non-canon, but there’s no lore-reason why she couldn’t become one so it’s more that they just didn’t program it.
24) Who did you leave in the Fade? Depending on the pt. Thora leaves behind Alistair and let me tell u I cried a lot. I think I tend towards the Warden in most pts, the only one where I didn’t was my pro-Templar Hawke vs Loghain. Loghain was saved. I actually have only had Stroud once so it’s always been a choice between former companions and Hawke
25) Favourite mount? I like the Wild Hart and the Nuggalope.

Dragon Age Question Meme
Tagged by @galadrieljones - thanks lethallan!  This is a long one - I’ll continue it under a cut.
Tagging forward to @schoute @viktuuri-fluff-saved-my-life @thevikingwoman @buttsonthebeach @charlatron @mrscullensrutherford @oops-gingermoment @iarollane @aban-asaara @irlaimsaaralath @wardsarefunctioning and anyone else who wants to play!
01) Favourite game of the series?
I haven’t played Origins yet, but between DA2 and DA:I, Inquisition is my jam! I’ve played it 3 times already and I’m not yet tired of it! So many places to explore, and I still haven’t heard all the banter yet, and the lore is just so rich, so many codex entries, yes yes.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
Basically all my Horizon Zero Dawn friends insisted - INSISTED - that I play Inquisition. For some reason I thought I wouldn’t like it, like “ahh everyone says it’s so great, how great can it be.” WELP LOL. I have no regrets, but my HZD friends might, given how HORRIBLY OBSESSED I have become LOL.
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
- Origins: 0 times, but looking to rectify that this year! - DA2: 1.5 times. Ughhh Act 2... - DA:I: 3.5 times and still loving it!
04) Favourite race to play as?
Elf. Hands down. I played a Trevelyan once and was like MEH BORING.
05) Favourite class?
MAGE. MAGE MAGE MAGE. Although I’ve been playing as Fenris a lot in DA2 and it’s surprisingly fun!! Good thing too since I’ll have to be a two-handed warrior during my Fenquisition playthrough
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I’ll answer for Inquisition. There are some things I always do the same (e.g. Bull saving the Chargers, allying with Abelas, making Solas APPROVE OF ME LMAO), but other things I alternate. I’ve gone with the mages and the Templars twice, respectively; I prefer picking the mages, it just makes more sense and is more “ethical” to me, but I ADORE COLE and I think the whole envy demon storyline is very interesting, so I quite enjoy siding with the Templars too. I have done something different each time at the Winter Palace, and this time I plan to do something different yet again. I strongly prefer Cole as a spirit, but I’ve had him as a spirit and as human twice each.
My Fenris-as-Inquisitor playthrough will be interesting. I’ll be playing in character as him, so it’s going to be quite different than what I canonically do, and I’m quite interested to see what happens. Solas is going to hate me oh god
07) Go-to adventuring group?
- DA2: FENRIS and Anders, and then I alternate my rogues. I love both Varric and Isabela, but depending on how far into my Fenris romance I am, I often have to leave Isabela behind because I HATE WATCHING HER FLIRT WITH MY MAN <sobbing> - Inquisition: SOLAS, Cole and Blackwall is my favourite group, but I also love bringing Cass instead of Blackwall - I love Cass and Cole’s banter. But Solas and Cole are my FAVOURITE PAIRING. I could listen to their incomprehensible chatter forever.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Damn. Umm... I put equal amounts of thought into Elia Lavellan (romanced with Solas), Athera Lavellan (romanced Abelas) and Rynne Hawke (romanced with Fenris). Before I started writing those ships, the question I had to answer was this: Why would Solas/Fenris/Abelas love her? I know why Elia loves Solas, and I know why Rynne loves Hawke and why Athera admires and eventually loves Abelas. But what is it about those OCs that those men fall in love with? I build my OCs around the men in their lives, not the other way around.
09) Favourite romance?
URGH WHY MUST YOU ASK ME THIS. GOD FINE. Fenris rivalmance, ok?? But I also love the Solasmance and the Blackwall romance to the point of swooning so just FUCK RIGHT OFF WITH THIS QUESTION THXBAI~
10) have you read any of the comics/books?.
Yes! Masked Empire and Asunder.
11) if you read them, which was your favorite book?
Masked Empire. I really liked getting more background on Celene/Briala and Gaspard (i.e. WHY THE FUCK I SHOULD GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE WINTER PALACE MISSION AT ALL). I loved Felassan and Briala’s dalen/hahren relationship. And it was just better written than Asunder.
12) Favorite DLCs?
Must agree with Gala here; Trespasser is bae, and Jaws of Hakkon is just beautiful (and also AMERIDAN <sob>). But I also liked Mark of the Assassin quite a bit! So amusing!
13) Things that annoy you.
The fact that it takes a MILLION YEARS to get banter in DA:I, and also that you can’t just click on your companions in DA:I whenever you like if you just want to hear their voice. I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CLICKED ON FENRIS CONSTANTLY TO HEAR HIM SAY “I enjoy following you”, OKAY? LIKE ALL I WANT IS FOR SOLAS  TO SAY “vhenan” TO ME WHILE WE’RE WANDERING THROUGH THE BLOODY WESTERN APPROACH
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden? We seem to spend more time there. But I’m kind of neutral I guess.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages. Hands down. Sorry Templars.
16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
All parallel universes. None of them coexist. Rynne Hawke doesn’t even coexist with any of my Lavellans because Fenris becomes the Inquisitor in my headcanon
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
I have only one pet, Hawke’s mabari, and his name is Toby.
18) have you installed any mods?
Console only <sob>
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
n/a - haven’t played Origins yet!
20) Hawke’s personality?
PURPLE HAWKE, with a healthy dash of Isabela-level flirtiness. But Rynne (over?)uses humour to deflect pain and agitation and anger.
21) did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition?
...Maybe.
HAHAH so I made matching colour armour for Elia and Solas, yes. And I generally like to dress both Cole and myself in black and red!
22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Ohhhh.... fuck. This is tough. - Elia Lavellan (romanced Solas): ...surprisingly, nothing really. She’s got a pretty zen kind of ‘what will be, will be’ attitude. In her darkest moments she might regret falling for Solas, but overall, she doesn’t really regret anything. - Arya Lavellan (romanced Blackwall): nothing. She is very confident.  - Athera Lavellan (romanced Abelas): honestly, she questions half of her decisions half the time. After Trespasser, she regrets not dissolving the Inquisition. (I haven’t decided yet if she eventually does dissolve it after all; perhaps we’ll see what DA4 brings us).  - Rynne Hawke (romanced Fenris): a LOT of things. She regrets letting Bethany attack that ogre. She regrets not bringing Carver to the Deep Roads, because maybe then he wouldn’t have joined the Templars to spite her. She regrets not following up more closely on Emeric’s murder investigation because otherwise maybe her mother wouldn’t have died. She basically blames herself anytime anything bad happens with her family (including the Merry Band of Misfits).
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
I actually quite enjoy sticking to canon for the most part, and expanding on facts that we already know. The one canon-ish(?) thing I don’t love is the idea of Dalish Inquisitors understanding or speaking a dialect of Elvhen that’s mutually intelligible with the dialect that Solas and Abelas speak. I let it slide in my Solavellan fics, but I mean, it’s been THOUSANDS OF YEARS between Arlathan and the Dragon Age. Dalish Elvhen (even if they have many many dialects, which is most certainly the case) is very unlikely to be mutually intelligible with ancient Elvhen. I’ve been meaning to write a full post about this for like a year oops
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
They all contain some elements of self-insert, so... me, I guess? XD
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
The first time I played Inquisition, I had not played DA2 yet, so I left Hawke in the Fade for LOGIC REASONS OK - Stroud was like the only senior Warden left, I thought they needed him! I’ve left Stroud there every time thereafter.
26) Favourite mount?
Well, it WOULD be any and all the harts, except for that FUCKING HORRENDOUS SOUND THEY MAKE. I thus prefer to ride dracolisks for the Coolness Factor™.

DA Questions
Tagged by @space-vashoth
Tagging: @dinah-myles @ironbullsmissingeye @aylenlavellan @dryadalismagicae @dalathin @gcldendust @blade-and-shield
01) Favourite game of the series?
Inquisition. It holds a very special place in my heart no thanks to Kaaras, and him being my first experience with the Dragon Age series <3 It’s just got all the right elements for me.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
Actually, and old friend from when I was in my previous fandom said I’d like it because I loved Mass Effect. No regrets ever since, and I knew I needed this game as soon as I saw that Bull romance scene >.>
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
I’ve finished Origins once, DA2 I’ve done twice, and DA:I I’ve done... a lot >.> I keep making new characters, but I always go back to Kaaras because he’s my baby and I love him.
04) Favourite race to play as?
Qunari! <3 They are unique and BIG. Anything with horns is an instant heck yes for me!
05) Favorited class?
Mage.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
That entirely depends on the character I’m playing. I have a fair few other characters in DA:I who are each their own, and I replayed DA 2 because I wanted to get a better feel of my Hawke, who turned out SO different to my first playthrough. If I replay Origins, I will most likely play as a new character as well, who will have their own choices. The only way I’m making the same choices would entirely depend on what kind of character I’m playing.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
I will ALWAYS take my LI in the party, unless it’s Fenris and a mission he will disapprove on, hahaha. DA:O was Zevran, Wynne and a mix on the third character. DA2 is generally Fenris, Varric (always), and Sebastian or Aveline. I always bring the companion quest member to their quest. DA:I depends on the character I am playing because they all have their favourites. Kaaras takes Bull always, Dorian, Varric and Cass. Basically he never takes Blackwall, Sera and rarely Solas.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
I’ll be honest, none, LOL. Overall, I’d say Kaaras, because he’s my favourite and my biggest, but when I MADE him... I put literally 0 thought into him at all. He just grew and grew on me, and here we are.
09) Favourite romance?
Iron Bull, Josephine, Cassandra, Fenris, Zevran, Alistair, Dorian. I’ve yet to SEE some of them, like Leliana and Morrigan, which I would like to eventually. Oh... and Harding IF you could actually romance her.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I’ve only read some of Asunder, but I have some of the comics as well, I just need to actually read them.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
I’ve only read half of Asunder, and it kind of bored me...
12) Favourite DLCs?
Tresspasser, it’s just got this... weird atmosphere to it that really pulls me in, but also makes me sad... I dunno. I also love Jaws of Hakkon.
13) Things that annoy you.
Look, I love Dragon Age, and the slight annoyances aren’t going to ruin the experience for me. I love the games, I love everything. I’m not going to say shit about it, lol. If you’ve got something specific to ask, then ask me.
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
They are all in the same story line. My Hero, my Hawke, and Kaaras are all in the same canon universe. All of the other muses I’ve made are all COMPANION muses, who also belong in the same universe. Not gunna lie, the thought of making a different Hawke, different Hero or different Inquisitor honestly feels like a betrayal to my own characters, so I will never make a different one. They will all belong in the one story line and that’s that. It’s like my big whole canon story to me.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
I think I named him Woof in Origins and Dog in DA 2. Can’t remember tho, lol.
18) Have you installed any mods?
I started off playing DA:I and DA 2 on Xbox, so at the start, nothing was modded. When I got DA:I on PC, I installed mods, but Kaaras is still very vanilla, most of the mods I use are merely armour replaces, environmental mods and ones to make blood stay off clothes, etc. Maybe a hair mod here, but that’s about it when it comes to their looks.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
At the start, not really. She just wanted to survive, lol. So... she did what she had to.
20) Hawke’s personality?
My Hawke is very stern. He is a mix of blue and red mostly.
21) Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition?
No, lol. XD
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
My Hero and Kaaras know that they can’t change the past, even if they wish to. They’ve accepted that life has to move forward. My Hawke? He suffered the most, and he has many regrets, most of those are for the loss of his mother, what happened in Kirkwall he blames himself for, and Anders, and he wishes he could turn it all back.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
No, I’m pretty strict on when it comes to canon. The only thing is the qunari background in DA:I isn’t Kaaras’ background. I’ve tweaked that so it gits his true background better.
24) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud.
25) Favourite mount?
Harts, they’re so damn majestic!
