in one of my classes we spoke briefly about the amish and pennsylvania dutch and just. that language is so fascinating to me. i want to learn it.
#i can understand a good amount but sometimes i hear a phrase and it’s like. wtf is that.#i do think american dialects of german are just particularly interesting i think texas deutsch is such an interesting dialect and it’s sad#that it is effectively dying out the vast majority of speakers are elderly and their children don’t speak it#but everything from the pronunciation to the vocabulary is so interesting#i just think isolated dialects of languages from other parts of the world are interesting and i love to learn abt them#but yeah i got to share some of my (minimal but i did have some fun etymology facts) knowledge abt the language and it was fun#i needdddd to start focusing on german again i can feel it deteriorating in my mind#which is sad 😭 i left the books i bought in germany at my grandmother’s house. i should grab them at some point#i might start trying to read news articles in german too#and hopefully!! there will be a german dub of natsume. there’s a german va listed…. hopefully that means they’re planning on producing it
