It helps him reconnect with his past, he gets to work with animals, and he gets to enforce the "law" in the forest. Generally, he just patrols the area, making sure no poachers are around, and helping the wildlife if they're hurt.

The Oculus relic can give you whatever you want, right? Maybe it manages to reach out and create whatever the THB most want to stop them from destroying it. Merle sees his kids with it. Taako sees his aunt with it. Magnus sees Julia with it. But what does Ango see?

FUCK i forgot the oculus relic even existed honestly??? god yea THB sees all that but if this is, like, rewinded back to murder on the rockport limited arc and just tweaked it a bit so that the oculus relic actually gets used, then honestly idk maybe like the caleb cleveland box set (w/ a free poster) or maybe his gpa cuz he just rly wants to get to granpops house. i dont rly know what else would motivate angus circa rockport limited era

but if this were more along the timeline of recent arcs like it just made a reappearance then probably just like THB ft. lucretia n maybe gay aunts n maybe his actual gpa. like. angus just wants a family cuz hes a 10 year old boy thats dealt w some serious shit that people three times his age usually dont have to deal with or witness. all of that is unconventional for a childhood so its natural for a boy to seek The Most Conventional Aspect of childhood: a family. and theyre all happy n proud of him n havin a good time.

i think taako n merle would fall for it 100% but i think magnus n lil ango wouldnt fall for it. i think magnus would want to indulge himself for a little bit but cant bring himself to accept this, to stare into the eyes of a dead woman he loves, to accept caresses that should be long gone. 

and angus….angus already has what he wants and although he loves the idea of them all being happy n not goofing on him n being just ‘wow angus im so proud of u and i love u and im gonna show it!! and were gonna be a normal domestic family from now on!!’ he knows that thats not true n hes kinda uncomfortable w that whole idea bc thats not what his family is like, he loves taako as the emotionally-deflecting elf he is, merle as the big ol bully thats actually a bit of a softie, magnus as the older brother that doesnt know where to stop w a joke/prank. angus loves them as they are and, well, thats how they are so hes well-aware that its just the relic just trying to defend itself and doesnt fall for it one bit. he takes one look at the real THB, sees the tears on taakos cheeks, the devastated conflict going on in magnus’ eyes as they make eye contact, the hazy look on merles face, and tightens his hands into fists and lowers his stare and fights all instincts telling him to accept whats being given to him.

so then angus and magnus get to do all the Cool Shit and help the other two snap out of it and after all that biz is done and they have the artifact detained and theyre supposed to head back to BOB taako doesnt want to talk he just wants to stare at the wall but angus hugs him for so long and magnus and merle are pretty shaken and trying to recover, and once they can all at least bring themselves to focus on the present then they head out
