TFATWS episode 1 rewatch commentary
The first scene was so beautiful. I loved that we didn't start directly with the fight sequence. It feels way closer to the quiet beginning of CATWS and I love it so much.
The title is also SO NEAT, music's on point too but hey itās Henry Jackman the one thing Iām sure itās going to be great overall is the score.
The choreography is AMAZING, really well shot. Sam shielding himself with only one wing was MA-JES-TIC.
āWHAT'S UPā EXACTLY SAM EXACTLY
I did feel so uncomfortable in regards to the military aspect of it. Not that I was expecting anything else, but both here and in Captain Marvel the military we're good guys < 3 propaganda is so blatant and ugh:/ At least there wasnāt a literal recruitment spot like with CM.Ā
The yellow filter in the Tunisia scene BYE please stop with the yellow filters 2k21
"I've been working with the Air Force for six months now" So, did Sam even catch a break at all after Endgame? Or did he just throw himself to work like SOMEONE did after being iced for 70 years. Hmmm? Sam????
"Essentially, these people, they want a world that's unified without borders" OH NO! HOW AWFUL, how evil of these bad guys smh
Joaquin: SO about Steve
Sam: :)))))) nope
"Moon stuff" SAAAM
#1 cry with Sam's speech, full on chills.. Fuck. Me. His voice about to break before saying thank you bYE.
Shady politician: "It was the right decision" (FUCKKKKK YOUUU)
Rhodey: *press any key to doubt *
I need someone to analyze the different curation of the two exhibits pretty please
NOT THE PHOTO POST-AZZANO JFC. That photo is my weakness, Bucky sweetie (also I find hilarious that usually when there are articles about Stucky and/or #givecaptainamericaaboyfriend they aaaalways use that photo LMAO)
In case someone wants to read the transcription of the texts about Bucky: "In 1944, while on a mission to thwart a Hydra weapon transport in the Alps, Barnes was thrown from a train and believed to have been killed in action. It wasn't until 2014, over seventy years later, that it was revealed that Barnes was alive, having been found by Hydra operatives. Captain America himself (i can't read) the effort to bring Barnes in only to later aid in a escape from custody having been convinced of his innocence. Steve's loyalty to his old friend, coupled with his refusal to sign the Sokovia Accords, led to the dissolution of the Avengers and drove the Captain into hiding with other like-minded Avengers including Natasha Romanoff, Wanda Maximoff, and Sam Wilson. The current whereabouts of Barnes remains unknown, habing been labeled a fugitive following his escape from custody."
"current wherabout unknown" but not the government, interesting. Also, pretty good summary of CACW from the public's perspective, although one of the things I always wanted to see explored was the public's reaction of the fallout of them going into hiding after Civil War (which I'm hoping we'll get to see a little bit of in Black Widow).
Interesting point about the 70 years without having Captain America. Clearly the sacrifice play wasn't enough this time to fuel the nationalism so they went with a squeaky clean John Walker instead.
Sam saying the shield belongs to Steve I'm going to cry now excuse me. Sam. Sam sweetie.
The No. 1 Captain America comic in the display ugH fuck yes
See this is how you do a cameo that has actual meaning. Thank god for Malcolm Spellman being a competent writer. That scene was so well written.
HAVE YOU PRAISED ANTHONY MACKIE'S PERFORMANCE TODAY?? Holy shit that last shot fucked me up.
I'm loving the use of the wide shots, especially in the flashback. The camera movements are in synch with The Soldier's state of mind and mission focus, so good.
EVERYONE STAND UP FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM aka The Winter Soldier theme composed by Henry Jackman.
Without a doubt the most brutal TWS fight scene there has been, People involved in Punisher and John Wick are involved in this and it SHOWS.Ā
For the record, still stands that the only time we've seen him chocking someone with his right hand instead of the metal arm remains the Maria Stark assasination. I know it's probably because of blocking and the way the shot was composed but the implications are still bone chilling. God.
Uhhmmmm I'm very ambivalent about the "Hail Hydra". On one hand, it was 100% fanservice and the internet is probably going to go insane over it, and the dead way Sebastian Stan delivered the line. Good shit. Buuut what I love about CATWS is the way Bucky never, ever ever, mouths Hydra rethoric, and even when Pierce tries to gaslight him with it, it's just an empty effort. The Winter Soldier isn't doing anything because of ideological loyalty to Hydra, even if it's product of brainwashing, it's just sheer dehumanization. They donāt need him to say the words because heās just An Asset. There are people who have put it more eloquently but yeah, I rather go with the fanon interpretation of that aspect.
The music growing louder with the shot of the keys. GOD.
I'm fine this is fine.
#2 cry with the therapy scene of fucking course.
The government monitoring Bucky is noooot going to end well lmao.
"We need to know that you're not gonna * slowmo stabbing motions *
Bucky: * nodding along slowly *Ā
I laughed out loud.
"It's passive agressive" I love him.
The way this scene just sucker punched me in the face, made me weep and then had me cracking up. Amazing.
Therapist: You can't do anything illegal
Bucky: yup yup check checkity check. What IS considered illegal tho?
*aggresive tablet finger pressing *
"Then why isn't it rule number one?" Bucky your Steve is showing.
I love the close up shot. I'll keep saying it. It's so good.
"I'm James Bucky Barnes" yeah you areš„ŗ
That smile is nightmare fuel LMFAO I love it.
Uhm the way I'm kinning Bucky it's not funny anymore damn
That whole āare you lashing out at meā rambling is really reminiscent of the bar scene in CATFA and how he lashed out at Steve after Peggy left. Uhm yeah fuck.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" "Peace"
"That is UTTER BULLSHIT" "You're a terrible shrink"
yeah ugly crying to ugly laughing speedrun for me
"You're free" "To do what?" jesus. That entire scene. #3 and #4 and #5 cries for moi.
Ugh that Brooklyn shot. Someone needs to do a gifset compairing it to the one in CATFA asap.
"It's like Monique but it's got a "U" in there for uniqueness" "That's absurd" LMAO
"You can't keep fighting with your neighbors" uHM * redacted redacted i'm shifting into 1940s mode abort abort *
"Nobody passed 90" "So young. Such a shame" FGADHGA
š„ŗš„ŗ yes flex those flirting skills good for you
"It's a dance to this things. You can'tā¦ you gotta warm up and I haven't danced since 1943. Feels like." #6 cry I completely broke down into tears with that.
This Yori storyline is going to punch me in the face with a metal fist. Great!
The TWS theme when he looks at Yori fuuuuuck.
GREAT LET'S GO TO LOUISIANA THAT WAS GETTING HEAVY.
Those shots of Sam in the car. Immaculate. Showstoping. Yes.
Marvel, what if instead of promoting the military industrial complex you put a lot of publicity about cars?
"Uncle Sam!" LMAO subtle.
Everyone trying to have the wings lmao same.
I've only had Sarah for a day but etc. Brooklyn 99 meme
Good mirroring about Steve and Sam family's legacy. Good shit. Goooood shit.
Sam is trying so hard ouch my heart. I can't imagine how painful the scene with them reuniting must have been. He 100% still feels a lot of guilt about being gone for those 5 years (and even longer before that).
"Maybe it is time for us to move on" uuuuuuuuuuh
"To the rescue" "Always" š„ŗš„ŗ i love them so much already
That shot outside the restaurant is so beautiful. Can't wait to see the night scenes in Madripoor tbh.
"I tried the whole online dating thing. It's pretty crazy". Uhm well that is something that Bucky Barnes has now said. In canon. Damn.
"It's a lot" "You sound like my dad" LMAO
Every Bucky fanfic trope speedrun with this scene
"Wow you really can drink" OH you have no idea
Just realized we don't even know her name, well.
"You have any siblings?" "I have a sister" THE WAY I SCREECHED. We're definitely getting Becca
Well that escalated quickly. The important thing is to try?
I can't deal with this BUCKY SWEETIE #8 cry right there fuck
The wardrobe department is KILLING IT, there's such a difference between the outfits of the shows vs how ugly and generic it usually is.
"ThEre is NO such thiNg as on time. You're either EARLY or LATE . picK One" lmao the way he delivered that line
At first I thought the flag smashers had thrown two cars out of a window LMAO
"I don't know how jurisdiction works here, but I'mma have to place you under arrest" uhm yikes. The way they changed JoaquĆn Torres backstory to just random army nice guy #1 is not sitting well with me, what can I say.
Sam's wings motions I LOVE HIM YOUR HONOR
Fuuuuck this guy.
"Funny how thing's always thighten around us" "Look, I'm on your side. After all, he's a hero". This script is C R I S P as hell, great fucking job.
"I don't care, I'm not gonna quit" "What are you trying to prove? And who you trying to prove it to" SHIT HSIT SHIT!!! UGH amazing. Look it's not necessary to say the show's questions out loud but how they flow between the conversations is still very satisfactory without feeling in your face about it. Inner conflicts have been set up fucking perfectly everyone * claps *
Ugh here we fucking go. Ā I knew this was how the episode was going to end but my stomach still dropped like a rollercoster. God.
The score is on point. Damn. Damn.
God, Sam.š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
The captain america franchise's visuals in the credits are always so amazing.
Also, does anybody know why Mackie isn't first in the billing? Ā Uhm what's that about?
ANYWAY CONCLUSION THAT EPISODE WAS SO FUCKING GOOD LIKE HOLY SHIT. I love them so much. The balance between the personal conflicts and the political aspect (although the military aspect is still very much yikes) was on point and it was overall a joy to watch.
#tfatws#tfatws spoilers#i'm so happy rn#sorry for the ramblings i just wanted to have it all written down#sam wilson#bucky barnes#captain america#tfatws commentary

Chronicles of a Parisian Dumbass 8
now that La Joconde is over, i can give a lot more attention back to Chronicles. i know weāve been wicked overdue for an update, so thank you so so so much for being patient with me as iāve been working through it. i really hope you like todayās update, and that you can give it a reblog if you enjoyed it so other people can too šš¶š
boy i sure hope these orders didnāt have one of those āsend your cutest delivery boyā requests
i mean, on the one hand, iām flattered and my boss is absolutely right
but the things you do for Bread, smh.
It was bound to happen, Luka keeps telling himself as he loads up his bike, and as he straps on his helmet, and as he rides over bridges and through busy streets to get his work done. His stomachās been turning ever since he checked the delivery tickets, and every anxious feelingās been flitting under his skin, and it was only a matter of time before heād have to make a delivery to Marinette Dupain-Chengās literal, actual, entire house.
(Well. It didnāt actually have one of those āsend your cutest delivery boyā requests. But it did ask for him by name. And heās barely been able to keep still, with his name in her voice buzzing in his head, ever since.)
The other households donāt do much to ease his mind. At best, the rides and the thirty-second interactions numb him, but only for a short moment. Every time he mounts his bike again and pedals away, heās reminded that heās one step closer to her place.
It shouldnāt even get to him as much as it does. Heās been doing this job for ages now, in spite of what little upward mobility there is. It gets the bills paid, and heās good enough at what he does that the place gives him steady hours, and admittedly, itās nice to peek into the lives of strangers for all thirty of those seconds. The birthday party heās accidentally interrupted, where heās suddenly hailed as a hero because heās got pizza. The post-breakup night in, where a guy heās never even met sounds like the screeching drag of a bow across a violin bridge. The family whoās too tired to cook because the mother has cancer and the fatherās tired of barley soup and pasta and the daughter, whoās still living with her parents in her late twenties because she has to, only just got home from a bit of overtime.
(Most of these are just fancies, of course. Heāll be the first to admit he lets his imagination run away with him sometimes. But heāll also be the first to say that someone in the world must be living like that. To someone in the world, that has to be real.)
Besides. Heās been to the bakery plenty of times before, knows well enough that the Dupain-Cheng family lives just above it, which is just about as fanciful as heād expected. Heās spoken to Marinette a handful of times. Heās been on the business end of her witty words, wherever she got them from. Hell, he even gave her the note.
Itās just thatā¦ thatās the bakery. Not her house.
Heās never peeked into her story. Never even thought beyond what sheās allowed him to have. And he knows that whatever he sees will be real.
Lukaās mostly running on auto-pilot by the time he makes it to Tom and Sabineās, and part of him has to wonder if itās because heās been at this job for too long, or if heās been to the bakery too many times for his own good. (Honestly, heād wager itās a bit of both.) The bakery is closed for now, so he texts the number on the ticketāmaybe Mr. Dupainās, maybe Marinetteās.
Heās never texted her before. He doesnāt even have her number.
Should he ask for her number?
Would she even want his? Or would she feel like the creep because heās the one on the clock?
Before he can ask himself any more questions, the light to the bakery turns on, and the front door opens, and the tinkling of the bell grabs his attention. And thereās Marinette, in a camisole and heart-patterned sleep shorts and slippers. And thereās black, and thereās a little lace right on the neckline, andā
And heās staring.
And sheās starting to blush.
He tries his best to cock his brow, and holds up the delivery box. āYou rang?ā
God, he wishes that could have come out smoother.
At least Marinette laughs. Even if it might have just been a pity laugh. āPapa,ā she says, trading the box and the paper bag for a few bills. āI guess he knew you worked there or something. He, uhā¦ suggested. Veryā¦ veryĀ firmly. That we order from this place, once he found out we were considering it.ā
āWe?ā
A whistle interrupts them, soft and low and sounding halfway impressed. Luka catches the glint of glasses and a flash of reddish hair as Marinette whips around and hisses, āWould you go upstairs? Youāre supposed to be picking a movie!ā
āAre you kidding? This isĀ the movie!ā The redhead, whoever they are, calls out, but the sound of footsteps receding tells him it isnāt long before theyāre in the clear again. Just the two of them, caught in an interaction that probably should have already ended. And heās stuck wondering if she doesnāt want it to end, eitherābecause maybe theyāre not quite in the clear, or at least, she isnāt yet. Sheās got a whole best friend upstairs, probably waiting to grill her on every little detail.
(Every little detail of what? Itās just himā¦)
Marinette rolls her eyes and shakes her head as she turns back to him. āSorry. Best friends, right?ā
Luka manages a shrug and a weak laugh of his own. He doesnāt much feel like talking about how his best friends are his literal blood and the thing almost constantly strapped to his back. And that most of the people who approximate friendship are on the other side of a screen and will probably never see him in real life, whatever that is. āHow long have you known her?ā
āLong time. Since she moved here from Martinique. We were basically attached at the hip in like, middle school.ā She shifts her weight from foot to foot; to Luka, it doesnāt go unnoticed. āItās hard for us to meet up anymoreātravel journalism, studying abroad, all that stuff. We only really get to FaceTime these days. Other than thatā¦ it has its hiccups here and there, but I love her. You know? And sometimes she can be a little, uhā¦ overzealous? In what she does?ā
āI heard that!ā a voice comes from the stairwell.
Marinette doesnāt even have to turn and glare for the rest of the footsteps to fall away. āSorry,ā she mumbles again. āYou didnāt exactly come here to hear chunks of my life story, did you.ā
āI donāt mind your life story,ā he says, thumbing through the bills to count them. āWith a job like this, I get to carry a little bit of everybody with me, and hearing about your best friend beats the eightieth guy trying to tell me about his divorce and how women are just trying to suck us dry.ā Then his brow furrows, in spite of his own sarcasm, and he looks up. āYou gave me extra. Like, way extra.ā
āOh, uhā¦ā Marinette laughs nervously. āYeah, I guess thatās a habit I picked up. Tipping is a thing in the States. People think youāre a jerk if you donāt do it, so my brain sort ofā¦ went on autopilot.ā She rubs the back of her neck, maybe out of modesty, and Luka canāt tell if itās because of the amount of money she gave him, or because of the experiences sheās had.
āWellā¦ā He counts out the extra bills. āHere, you should take these back, thenāā
āNo, no.ā She shakes her head, gestures as if to push the money back towards him. āDonāt worry about it. Keep it.ā
āAs what? A souvenir from New York?ā
Marinette grins. Itās slow, and lazy, and it might make his heart thud in his chest at a hundred kilometers an hour, and heās definitely thinking, donāt look at the lace, do NOT look at the lace. āThink of it as me making up for all the times I couldāve let you have a napoleon on the house, but didnāt.ā
Luka blinks at her a couple of times. More than a couple of times. Too many words are bubbling in his throat and behind his teeth, desperate to get out, but his brain canāt catch up with any of them, and he doesnāt even know what order to put them in besides. Part of him wants to figure out somethingĀ smooth to say, part of him wants to laugh like an idiot and thank her, and part of him wants to take the worst leap possible and ask what sheās doing on Saturday. But before he can prioritize any of them and put his dignity even more at risk, a holler comes from upstairsāāMarinette!āāand he jolts back in attention. He crumples the money in his fists and swallows his heart back down into his chest, and if he looks closely, Marinetteās cheeks are turning bright red, and her teeth are sinking into her lip as ifā¦ holding something back.
āI better go,ā she says, nodding toward the stairs and taking a step back. Sheās standing on the sides of her feet, and itās honestly adorable. āKeep the change. I mean it, okay?ā
Luka wants to protestāwants to say something about how his mother always told him never to take a single euro he didnāt honestly work for. Instead, he crumples the money in his fist, nods dumbly, and pockets it. āHey,ā he says, just as he senses sheās about to turn on her heel and speedwalk back up the stairs.
Marinette looks at him, and in the moment he gets that bubbling-word feeling in the back of his throat again. At least the mortifying thought of asking her out has died down, but itās been replaced with something worse: the reminder that, for some reason, she and his sister know each other. Is it weird?Ā he wants to ask. Are you sure itās not weird seeing me? Is there something going on? Did Jules do something to you? Did you do something to her? Are you mad that I didnāt say anything? Are you okay?
Are you okay, Marinette?
Instead, he clears the words out of his throat, and shakes his head, and he hopes Marinette isnāt running a million worst-case scenarios in her head the way he does when someone looks or sounds even mildly displeased. He hopes she isnāt blaming herself the way he does when someone looks like they have something to tell him and thenā¦ donāt. āNext time I swing by,ā he says, āwill that napoleon be on the house?ā
Her expression doesnāt take very long to go soft, even though her grip on the delivery box tightens. āWho knows?ā she murmurs, and itāsā¦ strange, how the tongue-in-cheek traces in her voice comfort him more than they put him on edge. āGuess youāll just have to come back and find out.ā
Then she turns on her heel, nearly bumps into the counter on her way to the stairs, andāand she really does spare him one more glance, the kind that says sheād wave good night if her hands werenāt full. Without much thinking, he does the waving for both of them, with a smile he knows is nervous and crooked spreading across his face. And then heās the one to bump backwards into the door, the bell above giggling and announcing his clumsiness, before he stumbles to his bike and speeds away. He knows better than to text and bike, even if he couldĀ brag that sometimesĀ heās halfway decent at it, but at least he waits until he gets to the Canal Saint-Martin so he can have that silent-screaming moment alone.
so not only did I get that bread today, i got a whole fuckin sandwich. if weāre going by that whole metaphor i mean.
speaking of figurative language, you know, that thing i never thought iād use once i graduated from high schoolā¦ dear CBG: when i told you i hope you found all that money on the ground, i didnāt mean GIVE IT TO ME.

Supernatural s2
Iām halfway through s3 already (technically a rewatch, but there were episodes I didnāt watch the first time around), so this post is a little overdue lol. At this rhythim the posts will overlap. Plus Iām hoping I can finish s4-5 during the holidays to see the ~intended ending~ before I have to slow down on the binge-watch. After that, a season a month sounds achievable AND wonāt take longer than 2021 xD
ANYWAY.
-Overall, Iāve enjoyed it more than the first one, but at the same time Iāve found myself missing how... claustrophobic? Insular? Compact? That one was. s2 was about the world opening up just a little bit more, introducing new characters to the brothersā life, etc. I do love the detail that this is something that can only have, narratively speaking, once John is dead. Again: this show gets abusive families, consciously or not.
-The foreshadowing is beautifully done. 15 seasons make for a lot of unintentional and ironic foreshadowing later on, Iām sure, but the purposeful foreshadowing is superb this season. About the crossroads deals, of course, but especially about Johnās last words. I already knew heād told Dean he might have to kill Sam (father of the year, seriously. Though I side-eye the fandom even more for always having acted as if this is only awful for Dean lol), so I was hyperaware of every single detail. My favourite moment was the absolute horror of hearing Gordon proudly, cheerfully relate how he murdered his sister when she became a vampire (which, btw, as someone thatās still bitter about what went down with the Gunn siblings on Angel, I found it healing to see something like that treated as a horror story).
-Speaking of Gordon: I unashamedly love his character lmfao. Sterling K. Brown is mesmerizing, always. At the same time, I have serious mixed feelings (especially after seeing his arc in full in s3) because man, if it isnāt a racist mess. Iāve mentioned this before, but itās not exactly revolutionary that the first time we see the story from the monsterās POV (something I want the show to do! Often!), itās when white monsters are stalked and brutalized by our first black hunter. Especifically a white woman, btw (although Iām happy to see Tara Maclay as a brunette vampire. I didnāt know I needed that in my life, but I did). And you can tell that the show thinks itās just so SMART and FUNNY to have a ~racist black hunter!! I mean, the comment about how psychic kids would be ābetraying their raceā if they allied with demons?? FFS.
And ofc thereās the fact that heās condemned for the exact same type of stuff that makes Dean be hailed as a hero lmfao. Though I wonāt like, I love the moment where, faced with the comparison, Deanās response is āI might be like you, I might not. But youāre the one tied up.ā I love those kinds of character moments. As of s2 I officially have a love-hate relationship with Dean Winchester, I hate it here xDD
But still, on his own, Gordon is an amazing character (itās one of the most frustrating things about the show, the greatness tainted by the bigotry :))). Charismatic, terrifying, and ofc superbly acted. Also, I love that the fact that he praised John (as opposed to every other hunter having a rockier relationship with him) is clearly supposed to be a red flag LMFAO.
-I enjoy how the seasons delves more deeply into Samās ~~dark origins, since it was my fave thing about him way back when. Iām already mourning the (as I suspect) lost of his powers, ngl. Thereās a little more attention in how he tends to over-identify with supernatural creatures struggling with their ~dark sides too (bitch me too, the fuck xD), which I LOVE to see (among other reasons because at least in that way we get a little of their POV in the forefront lol). One of my favourites in that sense was the episode centered around the ghost-who-didnāt-know-she-was-ghost, played by Tricia Helfer. I clocked early one what was going on, but it was still very enjoyable, especially with Samās empathy with her (contrasted by Dean being a total bitch about it, btw. I canāt believe I still see post about how Dean is all heart/kindness/compassion/whatever the fuck. Dean is all about selective empathy and only when it conveniences him, pls).
I was more divided on the episode with Madison the werewolf, tbh. OTOH it put Sam in a better position, for a change xD. As the one willing to make The Hard Choices by fulfilling his promise to kill her because she was dangerous, even when Dean offered to ~take the burden from him. OTOH I hate that kind of thing lol. YOU GUYS KNOW A HUNTER PRO LIKE BOBBY, I BET HE COULDāVE FIGURED OUT SOMETHING TO CONTAIN HER A FEW NIGHTS A MONTH. Also, my immediate reaction was to compare this to when my man Angel had a crush on a werelady and helped her every month lmfao. But then, very few characters can withstand a comparison with Angel, in any sense :P
I also liked Samās subplot with his fellow demon-psychic kids, though I wish itād lasted longer :/ (also: RME at the queer girl dying almost immediately AND her power being killing people, her girlfriend first of all, with her touch. The black guy was the last one to die at least...?). My fave was Ava, by far. I loved her since her reaction to helping Sam stealing a psychiatristās records was yelling āIāM AWESOME!!ā. It made it easy to buy that someone that appeared so mundane, with her easy life and her fiance and whatnot, would become so power hungry and go off the rails, IMO.
BTW: RME at Dean being all āoh Sam is going too dark/becoming to coldā when Sam kills Jake. Jake ripped off his spine and killed him first!! It both amuses me and infuriates me all the times Dean tries to push Sam to be more like himself and then freaks out whenever Sam is not all sunshine and rainbows (while still remaining, IMO, far less cold than Dean himself. Besides, itās not easy to be colder than Dean, lol).
Lastly, a little character detail I loved was when Sam was jealous about Dean being in the federal database but not himself lmfao.Ā
-I loved the new foreshadowing crumb with Sam finding out Mary knew the demon, too (information heāll withhold from Dean, which I approve of LOL). I mean, I know exactly whatās up, Iāve watched most of s4 xD (also, what is UP with this family and making deals with demons. Everyone but Sam so far!! And then HE gets dragged for ~getting too close to one smh. Maybe lead by example!! Also also: yes, it was meant to be ambiguous, but I canāt help but notice the only kiss-pact -or further, depending to how close YED was to Lilithās levels, since to make a deal with her you have to fuck xD- we didnāt see was the one that mustāve happened between John and YED. Cowards!! xD). Still. Iām so curious about her. Her resurrection is one of the main reasons Iām determined to make it to the later seasons, ngl.
-Another thing I LOVED about this season is how they used sibling relationships to parallel/foreshadow stuff about the brothers, the way s1 did often with fathers. Iāve already mentioned Gordon and his sister, but the others are not less brutal imo: Andy having to kill his evil twin, who wanted him all for himself (... Dean is that you xD); the little girlās ghost who wanted her grand-niece to commit suicide to stay with her, and didnāt give in until her old sister agreed to die in her place. It was chilling. Also, at one point the parallel was between the brothers and a married couple (the ghost-who-didnāt-know-she-was-a-ghost) and asƱdlfkajsf. Iām guessing they had fun with the shippers lol.
Speaking of the brothersā relationship, this season also goes a little further in escalating the violence between them, when Dean punches Sam in the face and he refuses to respond (āyou can hit me all you want, it wonāt change anythingā. Fuck), or when Dean again punches Sam after Sam was possessed by Meg Ā¬Ā¬
-Going back to my love-hate relationship with Dean, lmfao. My biggest beef remains how much validation his POV gets from the narrative, granted or not; heās one of the most irritating cases of protagonist-centered morality and I know itās only going to get worse smh. At least this season it feels a little more balanced than in s1, with episodes like the one where the civilian Sam had tried to keep away dies halfway through the ep because Dean allowed him to get involved, for example. Still, it grates on me xD. The continuing prison rape jokes/demonic possession rape jokes (with Meg and Sam), his general grossness with women and his lack of sympathy for non-humans even when theyāre not trying to hurt anyone donāt exactly help. Also, I often see him praised for some of his political views, a lot of which I agree with (his mistrust of cops, saying convicts donāt deserve to die no matter what they do), but when contrasted with his general attitude across the show itās really grating ngl.
But then he has such AMAZING character details thrown in, that make me appreciate him as a POV character nonetheless, as much as I often want to curb stomp the guy xD. I loved his speech about how thereās no such thing as a dignified death. I love how he refused to come near his motherās grave, both at the beginning and at the end of the episode (this show is like, the cure to DCCWās shows false fuzzy sentimentality istg). I love his pop-culture references, like when Sam mentions Dean always thought OJ was the murderer or Dean jokes about freeing Katie Holmes from Scientologyās cult xD (sometimes it really hits you how old this show is lol). I enjoyed his Wishverse episode, and his lines after Sam dies/he sells his soul to save him (āI had one jobā, āmy life can mean somethingā) hit HARD.
But most of all? I LOVE how and why he starts losing respect for John. Itās so fucking cold and abrupt and makes so much sense!! Like, yes, part of it is Johnās message about killing Sam (... again, father of the year!), but most of all itās about John making a pact with a demon and dying TO SAVE DEAN (and probably, simply that he died at all. That shit de-mystifies anyone). ITāS SO FUCKING GREAT TO WATCH. āHe spent his life chasing that demon. He was supposed to die fighting, not making a deal with the damn thing. That was supposed to be his legacy, not this." Damn, Dean xDD. The *contempt* with which he said that killed me.
I also love his inherently atheist vision of the world (even if yes, itās extremely funny knowing this show has canon God and angels and shit -no Jesus Christ though, which I find endlessly funny-, or that they actually meet the archangel Gabriel in disguise xD. Either way, the episode with the fake angel and its foreshadowing was hilarious), his anti-destiny stance, and that itās him and not John who gets to kill YED.
-I liked Ellen and Jo. Not LOVED, but I liked them. I keep fearing that secondary (especially female) characters will feel empty/shallow but the show keeps proving me wrong, even with one-episode wonders, and at first I wasnāt sure about them, but I was sold quickly. Partially because of the actresses, they both had this... humanizing, endearing quality? It worked really well.Ā I also loved the explicit contrast between John and Ellenās parenting styles, with Ellen wanting Jo to return to school and be safe from the hunt, and Jo wanting something different. Also, I wouldnāt ship it if you paid me, but LOL at anyone who actually buys Dean sees Jo as a ~little sister just because MEG said that rme.
This show is just REALLY good when it comes to giving depth to a character with only a couple of brush strokes, which makes it all the more frustrating when they abruptly die or disappear to never be seen again/only once more (to abruptly die!) :)))
I was less sold on Ash; he was amusing, but having a Genius Hacker TM helping them out seemed like the beginning of increasingly giving the brothers ways of deux ex machina-ing them out of problems, when one of my favourite things about the show is seeing them creatively find ways out themselves. I like when theyāre competent! Like with the multitude of codes they have to improvise plans, like in the episode where with two words through a lawyer they implemented a quick scheme so that Sam would escape from a police precinct. I like that stuff.
-Iām still so bitterly jealous about the dead manās blood hurting vampires detail. SO BITTERLY JEALOUS. I love a lot of what this show does with its lore but that little bit is the worst offender. I want it so bad xD

Happy New Year! (hopefully, cuz... whew!)
Ugh! Let's get this year over with; what do you say?? I don't even want to rehash the year like I normally would around this time of year.
Pre-COVID seems like so long ago: We were out at bars, games, concerts, and parties of strangers. We were dancing all up on each other, we were passing the bottle around, we were grabbing all kinds of doorknobs with no concerns. Kids were planning to soon graduate and step into their hopeful, bright futures. Adults were planning vacations around the world to escape a once hopeful present.
Times were good! Look at this groundhog eating pizza.Ā
Not a care in the world.
And then, Thanos snapped his fingers, the world turned into shit, and we all realized how much we cared about Tom Hanks.
Can you imagine if that were literal? I think someone should get another gauntlet and turn planets into literal piles of crap. A new villain - "Poopfingers"
Ew... I know. I'm sorry.
Like I said, I don't want to talk about that stuff. I'd rather focus on entertainment instead. Join me for a few awards that I like to call "The Praphies"
MOVIE OF THE YEAR -
"WAP"
I know what you're thinking - "That's not a movie." Meh, it's movie-ish.
It's got two protagonists, whom are trapped in a mansion. It kinda reminds me of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but instead of chocolate being manufactured, we'd got... pleasure. Who doesn't want more pleasure after the year we've had??
There's a lot of weird things happening in the mansion, so thatās good for the plot. Plus, these ladies are all about... empowerment? - I guess?
Sure.
Kylie Jenner shows up for some reason, so I'm sure she's up to something; maybe she's the villain. And according to the lyrics "there's some whores in this house". Will they get rid of the "whores"? Will they embrace the whores? Perhaps this word will be taken back, and used as a term of endearment.
As mama looks at her daughter, walking bravely back into schools some day "That's my lil whore." Maybe we're all whores - what a twist.
It's a good picture. One of Scorsese's best. He did direct it right? I think so.
BEST ACTOR -
This one was a close race for me:
Jeanise Jones (Borat 2 - on the right)Ā
This woman, who was not in on the joke, deserves a medal. She's the star.
Joe Exotic (The Tiger King)
Anyone standing behind Trump during those Rona briefings, who can hold a straight face.
Technically, Joe and Jeanise aren't actors, and Trump's people are... you know, TRUMP'S people, so I give the award to Mario Lopez for his role as Sexy Colonel Sanders.
Did y'all watch "A Recipe for Seduction?" It's entertaining. It was my runner-up for MOY.
SHOW OF THE YEAR -
Easy - "The Tiger King" for keeping us all together in the beginning of this 2020 corona mess.
Which leads me to MY person of the year (cuz let's be honest, Uncle Joe and Kamala... no)
The POY is -
Carole Baskin -Ā
We all know that she murdered her husband, and yet she took over Joe's zoo property, continues her animal rights activism while being openly weird as hell, and was last seen being applauded on "Dancing with the Stars".
Only in America.
Animated action of the year -Ā āSoulā for bringing us this negro,Ā
played by Tina Fey :)
Iām just joking ( I love Tina Fey)... well, she does play him, but itās not like that; still makes me laugh though. At least she didnāt have to worry about blackface.
I like my action flicks. They all can't be tear-jerkers like "WAP".
Which leads us to ACTION HERO OF THE YEAR --- Kiera Allen
If you saw the movie "Run" then you know this actress. She is the acrobatic, wheelchair-bound star of the movie. She is in a wheelchair in real life. In this movie she breaks through one window, climbs across a rooftop, breaks through another window, all with water in her mouth for a special finishing trick to end the scene. And she throws herself down a couple of flights of stairs. Let's see Liam Neeson try to do that!
I'm serious when I say - I expect to see her in the next "Fast & Furious" film.
Award for LEAST FUX GIVEN - Ricky Gervais, for lighting Hollywood on fire.
Athlete - TEAM JLo and Shakira
Ā --- sidelined me (I attempted to dance like Shakira at work) and sent souls to hellĀ
(that's some powerful booty shaking... and or just another example of white people being mad at brown people for existing)
SONG OF THE YEAR -Ā
Vin Dieselās "Feels like I do" - not up for debate.Ā
Name another action star in 2020 with a single.
Album of the Year - "The Lion King: The Gift / Black is King" - by Beyonce
We didn't feel much like royalty, but at least we were being heard... well, for a lil bit; a lot more than I ever remember us being heard.
Remember when white people in Hollywood felt so much shame that they did this?
We had corporations like the NFL tryna pretend to be woke. Aunt Jemima and that Native American woman on the butter were freed
Ā (though they did keep the land).
White people were afraid, and thought that perhaps this album was going to spark the second coming of Black Jesus.
It's interesting - Ā black people protested (mostly peacefully); wanting justice, and white people got anxious. Ā People started rioting and looting because of injustices rooted to this country's original sin, and white people, who's ancestors committed this sin, shook their heads at us in shame. Black people and anyone (of any color) standing with them were treated as hostiles, while white people with guns, shooting at black people were hailed as heroes.
What a time.Ā
I wish Black Jesus really did come back to these Beyonce tunes.
Oh, and this stuff happened too
Toobin (Ha! This guy )
ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR (4 years straight)-Ā
Trump
It's not even close. I was going to suggest that the dude from "The Vow" being a strong runner up, but even that would be disrespectful to Trump's assholery.
The world was on fire (metaphorically and literally), and Trump as our leader, threw gasoline on it. "BLM" came along to be heard and get justice for George Floyd, and Trump convinced his worshippers that BLM is a terrorist group. He shot away protesters, so he could pose awkwardly with a bible (doing God's work - this āworkā included telling us to do the opposite of what physicians around the world plead with us to do during a pandemic, pushing drugs on us that these same physicians say no to, and telling us to inject ourselves with bleach. Hallelujah!). He accused Biden of corruption (pot calling kettle black). He loses to Biden, but fights the results with zero evidence, and at the sore loser rallies, there were stabbings and arrests, to which Trump praises their efforts.
A round of applause for the Michael Jordan of Assholes.
Donald J. Trump!
RESPECT!
Lastly, The Praphie (most coveted of awards)
The nominees are -
Kaylen Ward - raised over one million dollars for the Australia fires relief, by passing out nude photos of herself... yep. Seriously, look it up. Well, maybe donāt do that:)
Michael Jordan -Ā "The Last Dance" was the only sports content for a sports addict like myself. MJ was the drug we needed.
Dr. Fauci - Really for putting up with us.Ā
Dave Chappelle - a hell of a year for him. Plus, he was dropping N-Bombs and smoking on SNL
The Fly on Mike Pence's head.Ā
Kamala Harris
Cardi B - just because
The winner is - Dave Chappelle
Not only for his great year in comedy (in this bleeped up year), but he has evolved into a modern day prophet. Who would have thought that the guy who made "Half Baked"
would be the one we'd seek out when racial tensions got to the highest levels this year??
Kaylen Ward would have won it, if she had continued her efforts. She could have raised some funds for Greta Thunberg. She could have used her nudity along-side protesters, or even joined doctors around the world, raising money for a vaccine. Smh. That's a shame.
In thinking about Chappelle's evolution, I'm reminded that we're all processing and changing as a result of this year. Some will change for the better, and others for the worse. Some will go to the depths only to rise up again. Regardless, of how you handle it, it's important to know who your true peeps are. Who loves you? Whoās got your back? Who do you love?Ā We're all going to need true peeps to help us endure. Which leads me to my slogan for next year.
"If you love something let it go, if it doesn't return to you. Hunt it down and kill it." Idk about you, but that touches my heart.
Enjoy yourselves as much as you can tonight, and by that I mean safely :) Some of you might want to consider going to bed early, just to end this year faster.
Happy New Year, everyone!
