love finding ppl irl who prefer 2003 like my cousins bf and i got into a talk and one of his first points was “idk brotherhood seems so tone deaf with the subject matter in comparison” and i felt truly seen and heard in that moment

#he also was ‘YES YES YES’ about how ed and al are significantly better characters #and he said his perspective is that brotherhood is an amazing SHOUNEN but 03 is an amazing ANIME #and i was like ‘yes because the writers specifically set out to subvert shoune tropes and characters’#and i admitted ‘im just not a shounen anime type person and it is all preference but i feel like the shounen tone wasnt good for the heavy #themes that it wanted to address and 2003 addressed them better #but in fmab those themes are more background while 2003 its like. the central themes
