I was listening to It's Another Maze There by Kikuo and I suddenly had a Thought.

I can absolutely see a Phantom song about Mario falling into lava having the same energy as that song

(especially this version as sung by Hanatan; she's got the right flair)

Even the subjects are kind of similar: being lost in a maze vs failing over and over. The subject being bleak but the sound being so boisterous made me think of Phantom gleefully taunting Mario and it's just too good :') it also helps that the song sounds so theatrical and even cartoony in places.
