Whoever said Katsura is probably good at everything might be onto something.
Somehow, somehow, he was able to join the online class using his Sega Genesis and the Konami Code.
From Class 3-Z Ginpachi-sensei Special:
Shinpachi asked, “Is the tablet fixed?” Katsura shook his head. “In the end, it was no use. I had no choice but to join using the Sega Mega Drive.” “What, there’s no way! You can’t go online using a Mega Drive!” “I put in the Konami Code and somehow got in.” “The Konami Code isn’t that all-powerful!”

just wanted to drop in to say hi! and just, there's something so wonderfully charming about your blog. it almost fills me with nostalgia, like how it was back when fandom stuff was mostly confined to the likes of livejournal and ff.net
anyway, happy end of year holidays friend 🧡 may next year bring us lots of anime-related, or unrelated joys. also, if you don't mind sharing your thoughts, what shows are you excited for next year? i'm particularly freaking out about a lot of season 2 stuff like kusuriya and my happy marriage! but other than that there seems to be so much to look forward to next year 🥰🥰
Omg, thank you so much.
I’ve been in this hellhole of a site for 12 whole years but I was already lurking for more than a year before I decided to join. So I’ve been around for 13 to 14 years, give or take. And I really feel nostalgic, now more than ever, about how it used to be at the beginning. This place was peak for creativity and just having fun with stuff anonymously, no strings attached. It was paradise, and still is, but now with way less people and way less traction. I’ve been careful to keep my editing style consistent for all these years so that I’d still remember the trends from Way Back. I’m glad it has the same effect on other people. So, know that your message has warmed up my heart! 💕
Happy year end holidays to you too! I’m sorry if I’m replying late to this! I hope the time difference wasn’t too big. 😭❤️
There’s actually a lot that I’m looking forward to next year! First of all, Tongari Boushi no Atelier and Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu! Secondly, the anime adaptation of City (I think KyoAni can’t possibly fuck this one up, it’s animation-focused with very little plot, so basically their forte) and the remake of Jigoku Sensei Nube (when the official Toei channel started broadcasting Nube as a 30-year anniversary commemoration, I could SMELL the remake coming and have not been normal ever since). Speaking of remake, there sure is a lot of remakes next year! There’s the remake of Anne of Green Gables, Versailles no Bara, As for the rest, Medalist, Witch Watch, Kowloon Generic Romance, Chuuzenji-sensei no Mononoke Kougiroku, Sakamoto Days and Dekin no Mogura.
Ofc, I’m also looking forward to the many sequels! That includes Kusuriya and WataKon, but also Hanako-kun, Aharen-san, Kaijuu 8-gou, Dandadan, Shoushimin, Kuroshitsuji, Hyakushou Kizoku, 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei (can you even call this a sequel??? lol) and of course, the last season of HeroAca. So far, this is my list!
And yes! Hope the universe hears you! May next year be a blast!

What if?? PP Highschool?
It's not uncommon for immensely popular anime/manga to have a highschool spinoff.
Attack on Titan: Junior-High 👋🏻😁
Gintama: Ginpachi-sensei 😆✋🏻
If there's an official announcement of PP H.S count me in 🙋🏻‍♀️🤭😉😂
💠💠💠💠
Now, imagine a pivotal scene, like Akane reading Kogami's letter (saying goodbye after he transferred to another school 😋).
...And whenever she misses him, she could relive those tender moments when he tapped her head for comfort and support, rather than lighting a cigarette to remind her of him (since smoking isn’t allowed on school premises) during her difficult moments at school instead of a situation or a case she's handling within PSB walls, this is how you might visualize it.
🥰🤗
Tumblr media
Come and enter the world of fantasy 💕🌟
Akane-chan in her usual mushroom-cut bangs but in a looong...curly pigtails 😘🫱🏻❤️💖
Note: Modified immediately to add the missing tags 🤭 I almost forgot that Shinkane/KoAka is the name of PP's popular ship 😄. I remember, I think that was last year, there are messages telling not to use it because it's general. But hey I am a fan and everyone should be welcome to use the tags general or not as much as they want, right? 😉
I hope I'm not late to join the Shinkane Week with this post. I'm not sure when it's start/end date 🤭

Kagura, too poor and innocent!
Fact to be told, she's pretty cute and gorgeous here, am I right?
I'm not saying I don't like her two buns style (love it okay!!!) but, I'd like to see her with a ponytail in more scenes!
Too bad it ended, but fear not, Gintama and it's characters are still living and too be not forgotten in our hearts!!
Gintama actually inspired us for years, and just so you know, can't really wait for the 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei to be done!

Class 3-Z Ginpachi-Sensei Lesson 2: Scaring People is Also a Technique (Translation Part 2)
CW: Zenzou-typical violence... apologies in advance.
Part 1
… He was slowly climbing the school staircase. From the first floor to the second.
Wearing a stand-up collar, he must have been a student. And based on the school insignia on his collar, he looked like a Gintama High School student.
Taking each step firmly, he ascended the stairs. He walked sluggishly, with his back hunched. He was a boy surrounded in a completely ghost-like atmosphere.
At the landing moonlight shone through the window, highlighting his pale face.
The eyes covered by his glasses were terribly blank...
“So Kagura-chan didn’t know about the ‘Seven Mysteries of Gintama High’?”
At Shinpachi’s question, Kagura-chan shook her head that she didn’t know.
“As a matter of fact…” Shinpachi said. He had lowered his voice unconsciously.
“As a matter of fact, there are, in this school. Things like Hanako-san of the toilet and the Thirteenth Stair of Terror; in a word, they’re ghost stories.”
“Wow--” Kagura-chan said, her expression more curious than frightened.
Shinpachi continued.
“Well, recently within the school rumors have started but, to put it simply, in this school people witness bizarre phenomena everywhere.”
“Bizarre phenomena…” Kagura-chan muttered. Shinpachi nodded, saying, “That’s right.”
“And there are seven instances of these bizarre phenomena, so they became the ‘Seven Mysteries’. For one thing, speaking of the staff room-”
Shinpachi spoke up until that moment.
Suddenly Ginpachi reached out his arm, covering Shinpachi’s mouth. Muffled sounds escaped from Shinpachi before he shook off his hand.
“Hey, what are you doing, all of a sudden!”
“Shut up, idiot.”
Ginpachi responded, casting his eyes in every direction in an unsettled manner.
“That is to say, that kind of talk, I don’t want to hear it.”
“Don’t want to hear it?” Shinpachi narrowed his eyes, haha-n, and immediately understood. “Could it be, sensei…” He closed the distance between them. “... are you scared?”
“Of what?” Ginpachi’s voice was shrill.
“Because of the Seven Mysteries we were talking about.”
“Idiot, who would be falling over scared of a seven-spotted ladybug? Isn’t that some kind of insect?”
“No, no, it’s not a ladybug.” Shinpachi grinned broadly as he continued.
“It’s the Seven Mysteries. Sensei, you didn’t listen because you’re scared, right?”
Unintentionally Shinpachi had adopted a malicious tone. Everyday, Ginpachi made fun of things like Shinpachi’s glasses and reserved nature, but now this time he was clearly rattled. Such a rare sight was too satisfying to pass up.
“I said I wasn’t scared, didn’t I?” Ginpachi said emphatically.
“Is that so?” Shinpachi said, smirking.
At that time, Kagura-chan pointed at the end of the hallway, and said.
“T- there’s Nakajima Ramo!”
Immediately, Ginpachi threw himself onto the floor.
Looking down on the unsightly figure of his homeroom teacher, Shinpachi said.
“Look, look, your fear is in full swing, isn’t it?”
“I- idiot, you’re wrong.” Ginpachi said, while standing up quickly and straightening his appearance.
“Just now, I was paying respect to Ramo-san. He’s a great person, Ramo-san is.”
“Well, if you say so…” Flippantly, Shinpachi gave a light-hearted response. “Then, it’s fine, right?”
“What is?”
“The seven mysteries… it’s fine to tell stories of unnatural phenomenon in the staff room.”
“I want to hear, Grandpa, I want to listen to that story!” Kagura-chan said, overacting.
“That’s just fine, isn’t it?” Ginpachi said, bluffing with all of his might. “Let’s hear it, that story about Nanamagari Police Station.”
“It’s the Seven Mysteries. I’m not acquainted with any police.” [1]
Shinpachi coughed once to clear his throat, and then began his story.
Late at night, from the staff room where nobody should be, the sound of somebody sobbing came. Supposedly, it’s a teacher who committed suicide ten years ago while suffering bullying from their coworkers, crying bitterly, bitterly. Mysterious sobbing from the staff room…
“Or, that’s how the story goes,” and Shinpachi turned his face towards Ginpachi.
“Ha-” spat Ginpachi, screwing up his face. “What heavy breathing, moron-”
“No, it was sobbing.”
“In the first place, who heard that sobbing?”
“No, that is…”
Shinpachi hesitated.
With this type of story, you never know the person who experienced it, as a custom. It’s always like, “my friend’s older brother told me,” and the source of the rumor was always unclear.
“There’s no such person,” Ginpachi declared with finality.
“Nobody’s heard it, that is to say, the sobbing is a lie, a false rumor.”
“But, could it be that it’s some similar phenomenon-”
Shinpachi started to say but was interrupted.
“No way, no way. It’s a lie, an exaggeration, a misunderstanding. That kind of unnatural phenomenon is like that.”
Ginpachi forcefully put an end to that conversation.
And then it happened.
Uu… Uu…
Suddenly, the sound of sobs.
Ginpachi went pale. No, so did Shinpachi and Kagura-chan. The Forgotten Item Recovery Trio collectively lost all color in their faces.
Uu, uu-uu…
The sound, the sound of sobbing, could unmistakably be heard coming from the staff room.
“Se- Sensei, did you hear that?” Shinpachi said with a trembling voice.
“M-m-m-moron. You, you must be mistaken.”
“Mistaken, you say-”
Uu… Uu-uu…
“You really don’t hear that?”
While saying that, Shinpachi was violently overcome by regret. He shouldn’t have said anything. He shouldn’t have told any stories. Why did he have to bring up the Seven Mysteries…
There’s no way he could have expected to actually hear sobbing.
“A- anyway, let’s go.” Ginpachi scowled at the door of the staff room.
“Some scary sobbing is nothing compared to the power of Jump!”
Spurred on by Ginpachi’s speech full of the love of Jump, the three tentatively took one step towards the staff room.
Slowly, steadily. As they approached the staff room, the sound of sobbing became much louder.
Then, the trio arrived in front of the sliding door. Ginpachi placed a hand on the sliding door and looked over his shoulder at Shinpachi and Kagura-chan. Ready to go? his eyes seemed to ask, and Shinpachi and Kagura-chan nodded simultaneously.
In the space of a single beat, Ginpachi threw open the sliding door with a clatter.
Disperse, evil spirits! Acchonburike! Jugemu Jugemu Gokonosu Rikire! While the three people yelled out various things, they jumped into the staff room. [2]
Then, the three saw it!
The source of the sobbing!
“Ha-” Shinpachi exclaimed. “Hattori-sensei!”
The source of the sobbing was - Gintama High School’s Japanese History teacher, Hattori Zenzou. Hattori-sensei was kneeling on a rolling chair, completely bare on his lower body with his butt facing them, tears welling in his eyes, holding a suppository in his hand.
“W, what are you doing, Sensei!” Shinpachi exclaimed, his fear overcome completely by shock.
“Oh, my bad. The truth is I was thinking of inserting a suppository. Man, my hemmorrhoids are hurting so bad, you know.”
Hattori said this with an infuriatingly careless voice.
“If that’s the case, you could have inserted it at your house, couldn’t you!” Shinpachi said, stating the obvious.
“Well, that’s true, but, as a matter of fact, I wanted to get some privacy from my housemates, regarding my hemmorrhoids. That’s why I keep suppositories in the desk of the staff room.”
“And so?” Ginpachi picked up the thread of the conversation.
“At night in the staff room, you’ve been secretly crying while inserting your suppository?”
“Yeah, yeah, Sakata-sensei, it’s my bad for scaring you.”
As Hattori apologized while still showing his ass,
“Now I’m horrified about something completely different!” Ginpachi kicked out with all his strength.
Having his bare ass kicked, Hattori still on his rolling chair went crashing into a wall. The hemorrhoid-ridden man fell to the floor, the Forgotten Item Recovery Trio raining stomps upon him.
What was that sobbing, you bastard! We got scared for nothing! Die, you moron! Rather than a suppository, I’ll shove a graduated cylinder up your ass! All right, bring it here!
“W- wait, idiot! Don’t put it in! Don’t really put it in! Because the graduated cylinder will break! Inserting breakable things is no good! - kuaaaaaa!”
And thus, the true nature of the first of the Seven Mysteries was revealed.
[1] Ginpachi is referencing other phrases that happen to have 七 (seven) in the name. Nanamagari Police Station (七曲署) was the subject of a television drama in the 70's and 80's. Wikipedia here.
[2] Acchonburike (アッチョンブリケ) is the catchphrase of the character Pinoko from the Osamu Tezuka work Black Jack. Wikipedia here. Jugemu Jugemu Gokonosu Rikire(ジュゲムジゲムゴコーノスリキレ) references a famous rakugo story about a child with a humorously long name (roughly analogous to Rikki Tikki Tembo). Wikipedia here.

Went to watch the Baragaki Arc - Movie version yesterday~ also new info(?) For the Ginpachi-sensei anime👀✨
I got Toshi 🏀uniform keychain as a freebie~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bought the pamphlet and other goods at the theatre shop XD
Tumblr media
The movie felt nostalgic 🥹 but ngl I feel scammed... XD (well actually Kondo-san/Zaki shamelessly admitted that BNP are just scamming us 🤣🤣 that's sasuga Gintama for you!)
Anyway (maybe spoiler but not really) below...
'Bonus scenes' was just the still shot of Shinsengumi HQ gate with the Shinsengumi talking in the BG🤣 this was at the beginning and the end
At the start of the movie, Hijikata had a summary introduction of Shinsengumi charas, Isaburo, and Gin-chan
During Sabu-chan's intro, they already showed FS scenes in the prison island, like Kondo-san donning the Naraku outfit as well as Toshi vs Isaburo in the forest...
And then they played Wonderland!! I almost cried!!! I love that OP sm...??? It was so nostalgic 😭😭 and Nakama at the end of the movie 🥹🥹
And Baby Toshi! Ponytail Ginchan! Sabuchan!Nobutasu~ (Takasugi👀✨)
The '3z new content' after the movie is the same content included in the last page of the pamphlet (pic below)
When they showed this frame at the cinema, Toshi said 'thats it????' 😭
Tumblr media
Also, based on the non-Baragaki scenes that they included, are they planning to do a movie version of FS?👀✨
They showed some FS scenes (Toshi then said 'but that's another story')... including Utsuro at the end of the movie...
why do that if you don't plan on making a movie abt that 'other story' hmm?
Will we be able to see a re-animated version of FS!!! OMG!!!!???
But hey let's not forget about Ikkoku Keisei, Shinigami, *most importantly* SA?? Aren't those part of the overarching plot as well...
I'm so excited!!! What else is in store for us Gintama fans!! XD

Ria: Ginpachi-sensei ver
For the uninitiated, Ginpachi-sensei is this ongoing gag at the end of some episodes (which is getting a spinoff soon!) where all the gntm side characters are all in the same school/class (despite retaining canon ages/appearances lol) and playing on typical tropes. Since I love imagining Ria as a canon character, I decided to design how she would be put into it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I imagine Ria would be a play on some gyaru aesthetics/archetypes. This actually matches Sougo's design in this AU in a funny way, since both modify their uniforms/carry flip phones. They're probably always texting each other throughout class or passing stupid doodles. Sougo wears one of the beaded bracelets she gives him.

At the end of Gintama, Takasugi's fate was left unclear. Was he reborn? Is that baby butt Takasugi's? Is it some kid we don't know? Or would you rather go and play video games instead? Ginpachi-sensei puts it up to a vote.

The Very Final's Ginpachi-sensei bit was the perfect ending for the series. Turning the final villain into a joke, leaving things open-ended, being shamelessly blunt about Sorachi's choices, voting on Takasugi's heartbreaking death. Those 3 and a half minutes were the embodiment of everything Gintama.

A few notes from the baragaki arc movie (that I managed to understand with my shoddy Japanese…):
The opening and ending sketches, in pure Gintama-doesn’t-have-that-much-of-a-budget fashion, are voice-only sketches between Hijikata, Okita, Kondo, and Yamazaki as the camera stays mostly on a still shot of the Shinsengumi main gate.
The opening sketch: Hijikata and Okita start by talking about the 20th anniversary project. Okita shows us the timeline of all the events being planned. 3/4 of the chart is labeled “undecided”.
Yamazaki runs in to say that Kondo has lost his mind. Cut to shots from the Soul Switch arc, when the Shinsengumi became a biker gang. Kondo’s gone nuts, so Okita and Yamazaki join in. Hijikata punches the sense back into Kondo, who says the time away from the screen left him a little loopy.
Hijikata introduces the story we’re about to watch, and gets into the relationship between the Shinsengumi and Mimawarigumi, using scenes from the Farewell Shinsengumi arc as b-roll.
The movie proper starts with a short version of the “Wonderland” opening, and is basically the episodes stitched together. I know that there are some reanimated bits (baby Toshi walking with his big brother is one I think, but I can’t be sure without watching both versions again.) It wraps up with “Nakama” and the arc ending credits.
The ending sketch wrap up includes Hijikata talking about what happened after this to the Mimawarigumi, and mentions the big bad guy, over more shots from the Farewell Shinsengumi arc. (I zoned out a bit at this point for reasons and wasn’t fully listening). Kondo and Yamazaki say their favorite part of the movie (the pole and the anpan throwing, respectively). Okita puts in a plug for the next big event, Gintama Sound Ultra Soul, and gives the audience a sneak peak at the upcoming Ginpachi-sensei anime.
It’s a unfinished cel of Hijikata and Okita. Just the one.
“Well, that’s just like Gintama, always rushing to meet a deadline,” Kondo comments (I think).
Personal note: I cried at the end when sister-in-law talked about Hijikata’s letters to his brother. It touched my heart.
