have a hc that prompto used to be something of a trouble maker in school. nothing severe but he did pull a couple pranks or get in a fight or two that he got into trouble for, and when that happened, the prince always bailed him out. he didn’t do it on purpose thinking he was indestructible or something for being the prince’s best friend, which is probably /why/ noctis was always willing to pull some strings. it just kept happening. there were a few occasions where noctis got dragged into the trouble or fight or whatever with prompto, but that usually made it easier for them to get out of it, with a little help from a very annoyed ignis. there was only 1 occasion where noctis’ dad was called because prompto damaged school property. noctis’ dad, the literal king, naturally was like “where’s prompto’s father” and when the school explained they couldn’t get ahold of either of his parents, the king brushed it all off. it seemed he had a soft spot for his son’s best friend who seemed to have a difficult home life, so he didn’t mind so much that he caused a little mayhem. so long as the prince didn’t get dragged into it again. (he did).
